WICONISCO - Alfreda N. Heckert, 93, of 800 King Russ Road in Harrisburg, formerly of Wiconisco and Lykens Valley, died Friday, Jan. 10 at Manor Care Health Service in Harrisburg.
Born May 13, 1909 in Millersburg RD, she was a daughter of the late John H. Buffington and Joyce Shaffer Buffington and was the widow of Ralph Heckert.
She was retired and a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Elizabethville.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Reed and three sons, Ralph Jr., Donald L. and Joseph.
Surviving are three daughters, Anna Ferris of Churchville, NY, Gladys Davis of New Tripoli, NY and Sally Badman of Syracuse, NY; two sons, Kenneth of Washington State and Charles of Avon, NY; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan. 14 at James A. Reed Funeral Home in Pillow. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery in Elizabethville.
George Francis Schumacker Sr.
Marklesburg - George Francis Schumacker Sr., 77, died Saturday, Jan. 11 at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Born Dec. 12, 1925 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late George John and Elizabeth Anne Murphy Schumacher.
He retired in 1985 from the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot after 30 years of services as a systems analyst. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II, in the European Theater, and was awarded the bronze star for valor.
He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in James Creek; a member of the Harrisburg Consistory; and was a 32nd degree mason of the Free and Accepted Masons Blue Lodge No. 464 in Harrisburg.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Mary F. Schumacher of James Creek; four sons, George F. Schumacher Jr. of New Cumberland, Thomas Lee Schumacher of Enola, James Robert Schumacher of Harrisburg and James C. McCartney of Enola; three daughters, Elizabeth Anne McPherson of Bryn Mawr, Patricia Adele Grecca of Waverly and Josephine Elaine Beyer of Halifax; a brother, Robert of Pine Beach, NJ; two sisters, Elsie Downes of Island Heights, NJ and Edna Poh of Bayville, NJ; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in James Creek. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14 at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, 207 Ridge Road, Smithfield Twp., Huntingdon; and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service, at the church. A masonic service will be held Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Burial will be held in Old Stone Church Cemetery at James Creek.

Eleanore E. Hand
Tower City - Eleanore E. Hand, 88, of 107 Mill St. in Middletown, formerly of Tower City, died Thursday, Jan. 9 at SCCI Hospital in Harrisburg.
Born June 16, 1914 in Tamaqua, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Katie Estella Ball Purnell and was the widow of Harold L. Hand Sr.
She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Tower City; Williams Valley and Middletown Senior Citizens; and the former Daughters of America.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Stegmaier; a sister Helen Sponsler and a grandson.
Surviving are a daughter, Eleanore H. Long of Middletown; two sons, Rev. Harold L. Hand Jr of Birdsboro and Rev. Raymond J. Hand of New Tripoli; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan. 14 at his church. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Tower City RD.

Walter F. Minnich
Orwin - Walter F. Minnich, 74, of 12 Snyder Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 9 at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Pottsville.
He was retired from Kocher Coal Company and a watchman for the former Porter Tunnel Coal Company. He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Reinerton and the Orwin Fire Company.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Herring and a brother, Floyd Minnich.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Mae A. Paul Minnich; two daughters, Janet L. Miller of Muir and Cindy M. Minnich of Jonestown; a son, Randy J. Minnich of Florida; two sisters, Dorothy Snyder and Beatrice Minnich, both of Pine Grove RD; two brothers, Edwin of Pine Grove and Kenneth of Morgantown; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc. in Tower City. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery in Orwin.

John E. Kloss
Harrisburg - John E. Kloss, 82, of 4321 Winfield St., died Sunday, Feb. 23 at his residence.
He was a foreman for Gannet Fleming CC and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a member of the Shellsville VFW; Linglestown American Legion and P.W. Milano Detachment Marine Corps League.
Surviving are his wife, Vivian Kloss; two daughters, Carol Wekley of Yorktown, Va. and Sandra Mitchel of Harrisburg; a son, James Kloss of Lykens; three sisters, all of Erie; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Feb. 28 at Indiantown Gap in Annville.

SACRAMENTO - Hazel A. Williard, 87, of 721 Fearnot Rd., died Friday, Feb. 21 at her home.
Born Feb. 21, 1916 in Liverpool, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Nora Dillman Sarver.
She was a member of Himmel's Lutheran and United Church of Christ Church in Rebuck.
She was the widow of Harlan F. Williard.
Surviving are three sisters, Pearl Scott of Newport, Ivy Wevodau of Harrisburg and Blanche Sarver of Liverpool; and a brother, Ivan Sarver of Mechanicsburg.
Funeral services were held Feb. 25 at Miller-Berger Funeral Home in Valley View. Burial was in Himmel's Cemetery in Rebuck.
Carolyn P. Williard
Klingerstown - Carolyn Pauline Williard, 33, of 409 E. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, formerly of Klingerstown, died Sunday, Feb. 23 at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.
Born March 1, 1969 in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of Elwood C. Williard Sr. of Carlisle and Barbara A. Maurer Williard of Wellsboro.
She was a graduate of Tri-Valley High School and attended St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Klingerstown. She was a participant in the Redco Group of Pottsville.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are six brothers, Howard C. of Lititz, Elwood C. Jr. of Klingerstown, Edward M. of Blacksburg, Va., Mark C. of Blairstown, N.J., Clark V. of Lawrenceville, N.J. and Dr. Karl W. J. of Carbondale, Il.; and five sisters, Sallie A. Williard of Dillon, Colo., Sandra C. Martin of Zebulon, N.C., Susan E. Haanschoten of Auburn, N.Y., Mary K. Mellinger of Ronks and Anne M. Kurtz of Wellsboro.
Memorial services were held March 1 at St. John's United Methodist Church in Hegins. Burial was in the church Cemetery.

Halifax - Corrine K. Mundorf, 83, of 950 N. River Road, died Monday, Feb. 24 at her residence.
Born April 27, 1919 in Oberlin, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Erma Miller Yocum.
She was a member of Lykens Valley House of Prayer in Elizabethville.
Surviving are her husband, Earl R. Mundorf; three daughters, Beverly Kulisch of Harrisburg, Jane Howard of Middletown and Marsha Myers of Carlisle; two sons, Barry Mundorf of Mifflintown and Richard Mundorf of Halifax; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-
grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 28 at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc. in Millersburg. Burial was in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Halifax.
