Nannie Mae Sykes, 72, of Leisenring 1, Pa., died Monday, October 22, 2001, in Frick Community Hospital, Mount Pleasant, Pa.
She was born November 17, 1928, in Connellsville, Pa., daughter of Hunter Robinson and Catherine Dennis Robinson.
She was a member of United Baptist Church in Connellsville, Club 12, and the Senior Action Council.
Her husband, Doyle Sykes, a son, Marlon D. Sykes, and her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons: Dennis Sykes and wife Darneise of Uniontown, Pa., and Victor Sykes of Connellsville, Pa.; one brother, James Robinson of Cleveland, Ohio; three brothers-in-law: Alfred Sykes, Youngstown, Ohio, Johnny Sykes and wife Maxine, Denver, Colorado, and Howard Washington, Connellsville; one sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Sykes, Anchorage, Alaska; a special niece, Claudette Hatcher, Connellsville; a close friend, Patty Dyer, Connellsville; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received in United Baptist Church, 126 North First Street, Connellsville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Griffin Mason officiating.
Interment will follow Dickerson Run Cemetery, Vanderbilt, Pa.
Arrangements are by the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main Street, Uniontown, Pa.
Florence E. Drenckpohl
Word has been received that Florence Elizabeth Wagner Drenckpohl died peacefully on Sunday, April 8, 2001 at Gardenview Nursing Home in LeSueur, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Erwin John Drenckpohl, on October 18, 1999; by her parents, Joseph and Ida Wagner; and by her infant grandson, Brian Joseph Dahn.
Surviving are her sons: John and his wife Pearl of Taylors, S.C., and David of Morton, Ill; by her daughters: Mary Hart and husband Richard of Brownsville, Pa., and Judy Dahn and husband Richard of LeSueur, Minn.; by 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren: two step great-grandchildren; and by six nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, April 12, 2001, at the LeSueur United Methodist Church, followed by burial in Mound Cemetery.
Alex G. Dufala Jr.
Alex G. Dufala Jr., 80, of Masontown, Pa., died Monday, April 9, 2001, in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born on July 2, 1920, in Grindstone, Pa., a son of the late Alex Dufala Sr., and Katherine (Ference) Dufala.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Nolan and Cathy Dufala.
Mr. Dufala was a member of St. Mary’s Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church of New Salem, Pa., and St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church of Uniontown, Pa.
He was a coal miner retired from U.S. Steel Corporation, a member of United Mine Workers, District 2, Robena Local Union 6321, Knights of Columbus Council 4621, Edenborn Volunteer Fire Department, Messmore Rod and Gun Club, and a Social Member of the Fort Mason American Legion Post 423.
Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Pauline (Kachersky) Dufala, whom he married on July 2, 1949; two sons, Bill A. Dufala Sr., and wife, Margo of Macedonia, Ohio, and David P. Dufala and wife, Vanessa of Ashtabula, Ohio; five grandchildren, Dawn Marie Dufala, Bill A. Dufala Jr., Pamela Ann Dufala, Brent R. Dufala and Alex N. Dufala; six brothers and sisters, John Dufala of Cleveland, Ohio, Margaret Muench of Masontown, Pa., Joseph Dufala of Bedford Heights, Ohio, Irene Szczepaniak of Lakewood, Ohio, Annabelle Zelinko of Organt, Ohio, and Helen Dufala of Detroit, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., 515 North Main St., Masontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday, April 12, 2001, until 9 a.m., when a Panachida Service will be held, followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10:30 a.m., in St. John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church of Uniontown, Pa., with the Rev. Fr. Richard Whetstone and the Rev. Fr. Jerome Botsko as concelebrants. Interment will follow in Mount Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa. The Parastas will be held today at 3 p.m.
James R. Fike Jr.
James Robert Fike Jr., 28, formerly of Uniontown, Pa., died in Columbia, S.C., on Friday, April 6, 2001.
He was born Oct. 18, 1972, in Uniontown, Pa., the son of James R. Fike Sr., and Lydia Marie (Stewart) Fike.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Paige Livingston, at home; and a maternal grandmother, Virginia M. Stewart of Uniontown.
Friends were received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., 607 North Gallatin Ave., Extension, Uniontown, on Monday, April 9, 2001, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and also were received until 11 a.m., on Tuesday, April 10, 2001, where a Ginnaz Service was held, with the Rev. Fr. Joseph David, Pastor of St. George Maronite Catholic Church officiating. Interment followed in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
Stella M. Grake
Stella M. Pepson Grake, 79, of Brownsville, Pa., died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at her home.
She was the daughter of the late Michael and Clara Pepson.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Grake; three children, Louis Grake Jr., of Uniontown, Carol Gervasio of Langhorne, Pa., and Patti Britland of Levittown, Pa.; six grandsons; and a sister, Helen Cherban of Thompson No. 2, Pa.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Grake; and a grandson, Michael Grake.
Private service was held under the direction of the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park St., Brownsville.
Irene Houston
Irene Houston, 92, of Buffalo, N.Y., died Sunday, April 8, 2001 in Buffalo General Hospital.
Surviving are on daughter, Geraldine T. Sawyer of Masontown, Pa.; one grandson, Pastor Timothy Sawyer and wife Donita of Jeanette, Pa.; one great-grandson Justin Turner of Jeanette, Pa.; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 12, 2001 at 12 noon from the Calvary Baptist Church, Genesee St., Buffalo, N.Y.

William W. Johnston
William W. "Poodles" Johnston, 84, of Hopwood, Pa., passed away Sunday, April 8, 2001 in Beverly Health Care, Uniontown.
He was born August 11, 1916 in Hopwood, son of the late Frank and Olive Lowe Johnston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant brothers.
Surviving are his loving wife of sixty years Rosella Victor Johnston; a daughter, Linda Rae Romesburg and husband Scott of Uniontown; one grandson, Scott Romesburg and wife Gina of Boston, Mass.; and one sister, Louise Knox of Conowingo, Md.
Bill was protestant by faith.
He was the oldest living founding member of the Hopwood Volunteer Fire Department and was retired after 31 years of service at Uniontown Hospital.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday until 11 a.m., the hour of the service, with the Rev. William J. Moull officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park.
Jackie W. Jordan Sr.
Jackie Wayne Jordan Sr., 62, of Mt. Independence, Pa., died Saturday, April 7, 2001, in Frick Community Hospital, Mt. Pleasant.
He was born Aug. 21, 1938, in Mt. Independence, son of the late Robert and Laura DeBerry Jordan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Leland Jordan.
He was a retired welder and was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving are a son, Jackie Wayne Jordan Jr.; two daughters, Diane Monaco and Lisa Jordan; two brothers, Ed Jordan and wife, Marlene and Bill Jordan and wife, Jean, all of Lemont Furnace; a special nephew, Leland Jordan Jr.; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 3 p.m., in the BURHANS-CROUSE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Connellsville St., Dunbar, Pa., with Pastor Roger Yeager officiating. Interment will be in Percy Cemetery.
Ray J. Sutton
Ray James "Jim" Sutton, 76, of Fairchance, Pa., went home to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ with his loving family by his side on Monday, April 9, 2001.
He was born June 28, 1924, in Georges Township, Pa., son of the late Guy Sutton Sr., and Jennie Chipps Sutton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy Sutton and Howard B. Sutton; and two brothers-in-law, John Reckard Jr., and Nathan Klingensmith.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Mabel Dickinson Sutton; two daughters, Joyce Tanner and her husband, Fred of Fairchance, and Jennie Welling and her husband, Harry of Smithfield; grandchildren, Freddy Tanner and his wife, Tori and Jimmy Tanner; great-grandchildren, Freddy "JR" Tanner and Zakery Tanner; his brother, Jon Sutton and his wife, Gladys of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three sisters, Dora Jane Reckard of Uniontown, Lois Hustead and husband, Glenn of Westland, Mich., and LaVina Klingensmith of Uniontown; two sisters-in-law, Patty Sutton of Smithfield, and Virginia "Sis" Sutton of Uniontown; and a very close family friend, Bonnie Summers of Fairchance.
Jim was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army 484th Medical Corps.
He was a self-employed carpenter all his life and a school bus driver for Kapalko, Burke and Laidlaw bus companies, until his retirement.
Jim was a Free Methodist by faith.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church St., Fairchance, Pa., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday, April 15, 2001, until 1 p.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. George McLaughlin and the Rev Wayne Sawyer officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, with military rites being accorded by AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood.
James C. Trump
James C. Trump, 79, of Connellsville, Pa., died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born July 13, 1921, in Connellsville, a son of the late James H. and Henrietta Geska Trump.
Mr. Trump was retired from the Anchor Hocking Closure Plant, where he was employed for many years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 21 of Connellsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Mahokey Trump, in 1995; and one daughter, Betsy Jane Trump.
He is survived by two sons, James L. Trump and his wife, Celeste of Brockport, and Robert L. Trump and his wife, Kathy of Connellsville; five grandchildren, James S. Trump and his wife, Barbara of DuBois, Daniel J. Trump of Erie, Chris Turco and her husband, J.D. of Greensburg, and Kirstie L. Trump and Carly L. Trump, both of Hampstead, Md.; five great-grandchildren, James W., Kristyn, Destiny, David and Evan; two brothers, William Trump and his wife, Marlene of Brook Park, Ohio, and Donald Trump and his wife, Helen of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and one sister, Geraldine Hixson and her husband, Roy of Connellsville.
