Alice M. Shaffer
Alice M. Robinson Shaffer, 91, of Route 857, at the Pennsylvania State Line, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, in the Davis Ronald Personal Care Home, Smithfield, Pa.
She was born May 4, 1909, in White House, Pa., daughter of the late George P. Robinson and Gertrude Stewart Robinson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Shaffer on Nov. 9, 1986; one grandson, Robert Daniel Shaffer; one sister, Freda Robinson Monahan; and one brother, Guy Cooley.
Surviving are two sons, Charles R. Shaffer and Shirley M. Shaffer of Fayette County, and Lester A. Shaffer and his wife, Esther L. of Route 857, at the Pennsylvania State Line; a daughter, Carol S. Burnsworth of Fairchance, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Violet Robinson Leckemby of Smithfield, Pa.; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
Mrs. Shaffer was a member of the Springhill Furnace Presbyterian Church, and the Golden Rule Sunday School Class. She and her husband, Charles owned and operated Shaffer’s Service Station on Route 857 at the Pennsylvania State Line, from 1937, until their retirement.
The family will receive friends in the GOLDSBORO-TOMI FUNERAL HOME, 21 East Church St., Fairchance, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation continues in the Springhill Furnace Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, from 10 until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. George McLaughlin officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
Wilma Ruth Shawley
Wilma Ruth Shawley, 63, of Stahlstown R.D. 1 died Tuesday in UPMC Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Her daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Audrey Jean) Pirl of Normalville; a stepdaughter, Glenna Telford of Ligonier; three grandchildren; several stepchildren; several step-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Miner of Mill Run and Marvin Miner of Fla.; two sisters, Lenora Cox of Stahlstown and Mrs. Clayton (Betty Lou) Rugg of Mill Run; four half-brothers, Harold Miner of Point Marion, J. C. Basinger of Mill Run, Homer Miner of Connellsville and Wayne Miner of Monaca and one half-sister, Mrs. William (Arla) Borghi of Monaca, survive her.
Friends will be received at Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., Route 711, Melcroft, today from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and until 1 p.m. Saturday.
Helen M. Adinolfi
Helen Marie Adinolfi, 92, of Great Falls, Va., formerly of Uniontown, Pa., died Thursday, March 29, 2001, in the National Lutheran Home, Rockville, Md.
She was born June 7, 1908, in Uniontown, Pa., the daughter of the late Ralph and Antoinette Della Donna Adinolfi.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Armand, Louis, Emmett, Victor and Humbert Adinolfi.
She was a member of St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are a sister, Margaret Adinolfi of Rockville, Md., a niece, Bonnie Lynn Anderson and her husband, John of Great Falls, Va.; a nephew, Ronald Adinolfi of Yardley, Pa.; and two great-nieces, Amanda and Jessica.
Friends are invited to a committal service at 10:15 a.m., on Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Oak Lawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Fr. Kenneth Zaccagnini V.F. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to St. Therese R.C. Church of Uniontown. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the THOMAS M. DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, Uniontown.
Lela M. Aston
Lela M. Giles Aston, 85, of Brownsville, Pa., died Thursday, March 29, 2001, in Brownsville General Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Frank and Lucy Franks Stiles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clayton D. Giles; and her second husband, Harry Aston; a granddaughter, Susan Giles; and three brothers, Clair, Harry and Glenn Stiles.
Lela was a member of South Brownsville Methodist Church.
Surviving are two children, Shelby and her husband, Thomas Shaneyfelt of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Wilbur C. and his wife, Janet Giles of Crownsville, Md.; three grandchildren, Holly and Scott Shaneyfelt and Pam Giles; her second husband’s child, Nancy and her husband, Paul Lake and granddaughters, Jill and her husband, Kevin Miller and Joan Lake, all of East Stroudsburg, Pa.; three great-grandchildren, Erica, Elsie and Erin Miller; and a sister, Virginia Gade of Valley Station, Ky.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park St., Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday until 1 p.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Paul Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park.
John Bello
John Bello, 90, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in Fort Myers, Fla.
He was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Bello.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, George Bello; and brothers, Alex Bello, Joseph Bello, Steve Bello and Charles Bello.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Kocheck Bello; two daughters, Irene Pick and husband, Richard of East Brunswick, N.J., Betty Maklary and her husband, Lou of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; a son, John Bellow and his wife, Elizabeth of Pittsburgh, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; his brother, Andrew Bello and his wife, Joan of Uniontown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the FARLEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, in Lehigh Acres. Fla., on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, April 2, 2001, in Saint Raphael’s Catholic Church in Lehigh Acres, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Lee Memorial Park Cemetery.

Davitt Broderick
Davitt "Sparky" Broderick, 89, of Carmichaels, Pa., died in South Fayette Nursing Home of Markleysburg, Pa.
Sparky was a retired coal miner from the Crucible Mine.
He is survived by a son, James Broderick of Carmichaels; two sisters, Margaret Broderick of Uniontown, Pa., and Dorothy Savers of Carmichaels, Pa.
Services are private and are under the direction of the Paul M. Lesako Funeral Home Inc., Carmichaels.
Mazie E. Evans
Mazie Ellen Evans, 90, formerly of Point Marion, Pa., died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, in the Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
She was born Feb. 26, 1911, in Jeannette, Pa., a daughter of the late Edward and Myrtle Balsinger Hollis.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Point Marion, and of the Ladies Anti-Can’t Bible Class. She was a former member of the O.E.S. and the Rebekahs.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Lucille Chesslo of Dilliner, Mrs. Robert (Blossom) McClure of Youngwood, Pa., and Mrs. Joseph L. (Ann) Michotte and Mrs. Louis (Carol) Mahalic, both of Orlando, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl I. Evans on June 28, 1989; a brother, Raymond Hollis; and a sister, Ruth Mansberry.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, today until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Steven Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Wolf’s Cemetery, Dilliner.
Faye R. Fike
Faye R. Fike, 71, a resident of Vanderbilt, Pa., died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in Beverly Healthcare.
She was born in Vanderbilt, Pa., on Jan 7, 1930, a daughter of the late Emery and Cecelia Gabbie Page.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen F. King; and two brothers, Glenn Page and Emery Page Jr.
She is survived by a daughter, Deborah S. Rittenhouse and her husband, J. William Rittenhouse Jr., of Vanderbilt, Pa.; a son-in-law, Brian King of Waynesburg; a grandson, David W. Rittenhouse; granddaughters, Carrie Rittenhouse, Rhetta King and Bess King; and three sisters, Carol Shoaf of Perryopolis, Nancy Sherbondy of Connellsville, and Shirley Thurby of Farmington, Pa.
Funeral services will be private with interment in Bowman-Flatwoods Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are being handled by J. HARRY JOHNSTON FUNERAL HOME, 65 North Gallatin Ave., Uniontown.
Loretta M. John
Loretta Marie "Lori" John, 69, of Uniontown, Pa., died Thursday, March 29, 2001, in Uniontown Hospital.
She was born Oct. 22, 1931, in Uniontown, Pa., daughter of the late Michael K. and Edith (Macklouf) John.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Pamela E. (John) Taylor; and a nephew, Kevin Thomas John.
Lori was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, and a former choir member.
She graduated as an Honor Student from St. John Roman Catholic High School, Class of 1949, was a retired employee with U.S. Steel Corporation, as an Executive Secretary and Cost Accountant in the Maintenance Division, was formerly employed with Atlantic Freight Lines and Liberty Powder, was a member of the Executive Secretaries of Fayette County, and the National Secretaries of the Uniontown Chapter.
She is survived by five brothers and sisters: Thelma R. John, Madeleine P. John and Simone L. John, all at home, S. Michael John and wife, Catherine of Ballston Lake, N.Y., and Andrea M. John Ormond and husband, Martin of New Hartford, N.Y.; and beloved nieces and nephews: Michael A. John, Mark A. John, David J. John, Lisa John, Edith Ann Taylor Beck, Michael Taylor and Mary Taylor Junk.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS Cemetery, 603 North Gallatin Ave., Uniontown, Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Monday, April 2, 2001, when a Blessing Service will be held, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, at a time to be announced. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. A Parish Wake Service will be held on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Mary A. Kaleita
Mary Ann Panak Kaleita, 95, of California, Pa., died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
She was born on Nov. 13, 1905, in Daisytown, Pa., daughter of the late Adam and Anna Psotka Panak.
She was a lifetime member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church of California, Pa.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kaleita on April 12, 1969.
Surviving are three children, Constance J. Troxel of Damascus, Md., Joseph M. Kaleita of Deer Lake, Pa., and Annette Kaleita, at home; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME INC., 135 Park St., Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where a prayer service will be held on Saturday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., in St. Thomas Aquinas Church of California, Pa., with the Rev. Fr. Mark Skertich as celebrant. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Shirley Kaufman
Shirley (Divil) Kaufman, 75, of Topeka, Kan., died March 12, 2001.
She was born in Dilliner, Greene County, Pa., on Feb. 2, 1926, to the late Clarence and Ethelyn Stoneking Divil.
Preceding her in death, besides her parents, was her husband, Howard Kaufman, who died on Dec. 18, 2000. They celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary last year.
Surviving are two daughters, Kayrol Reese and her husband, Clifford of Horton, Kan., and Yvonne Charmaine Griffith and her husband, Daniel of Topeka; five granddaughters; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Darrell Divil and his wife, Helen of Smithfield, Pa.; a sister, Devonnah Jolly and her husband, Elwood and an aunt, Orianona Leonard, all of Dilliner.
Services were held in Topeka, Kan.
