Alice Bowers
Alice Bowers, age 66, went home to be with our Lord Jesus on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, where she is now walking and running on the streets of Heaven.
Alice was born in Masontown, Pa., the second of five children of Henry and Lillian Walters.
She married James Bowers of Uniontown, Pa. and relocated to Akron, Ohio to raise her family.
Alice was a trusted, loved and valued manager at Sears, Rolling Acres Mall, until July 13, 1990 when she was in a car accident that left her paralyzed. Rather than taking Alice to God's Kingdom then, the Lord gave her family and friends ten years to savor her love. It was ten years of sometimes trying times for Alice but also ten years of joyful times. She got to watch her grandchildren grow and mature into wonderful, responsible teenagers and young adults and watched them go from grade school to graduation and beyond. She saw her sons find soul mates to love and share their lives with. She watched her daughters raise their families with the same love of life and the Lord as she had taught them. She enjoyed visits from her loving friends. She was a counselor, friend and listener to the many faithful people who cared for her in her home and at the Legends Nursing Care Center in Massillon, Ohio. And last, but not least, she got to see and enjoy her new grandson Ryan. While the family and friends listed below will miss Alice deeply, we all are thrilled to know that her pain is over and her body is whole and perfect once again.
Missing and loving her dearly are her four children and their families: Marilyn (Mark) Teuscher of Tallmadge, Ohio, David (Sandy) Bowers of Akron, Ohio, Alan (Donna) Bowers of Atlanta, Georgia, and Tammy (Steve) Johnson of Spartenburg, S.C.; grandchildren: Amanda and Amy Teuscher, Kim, Steven and Ryan Johnson; sisters: Sarah Bartuch of Masontown, Nancy Baker of Yucca Valley, Calif, Karen Rains of Yucca Valley, Calif; her brother, Jim who is waiting for her at Heaven's door; her best friend Valerie (Larry) Tout of Powell, Ohio (there aren't enough loving words to describe the friend she was to Alice); loving friend Pat (Frank) Love of Akron, Ohio; loving nieces and nephews whose fond memories of Aunt Alice will stay with them forever; a multitude of friends and acquaintances whose lives Alice touched in her special way; and finally, Dan, her faithful and loving companion of so many years, now in Heaven, who can't wait to start arguing with Alice again.
In honor of Alice's request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside chapel service will take place at Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery in Smithfield, Pa. on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Robert Lewis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Good Will Industries of Massillon.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the JOHN F. BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME, Smithfield, Pa.
