Walter Carnahan Jr.
Walter Carnahan Jr., 88, of Millsboro, Pa. died September 16, 2000 in Brownsville General Hospital following an illness of several years.
He was born Oct. 2, 1911 in Finleyville, Pa., son of the late Walter Carnahan Sr. and Agnes Wiggens Carnahan.
He lived most of his life in the Allison 1 area and was a retired coal miner, having worked over 43 years for the Clyde Mine of the former Republic Steel Corporation.
He was a member of Local Union 688 of the United Mine Workers of America of Fredericktown and the Allison Nazarene Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice Pauline Moore Carnahan who died August, 1983. Also deceased are a brother and two sisters: James Carnahan, Margaret Wiggens and Agnes Bush.
Surviving are one son and two daughters: James T. Carnahan of Millsboro, with whom he resided for the past three years, Mrs. Donna Keene of Jefferson, Pa., and Mrs. Deborah Robaugh of Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren: David, Allen and George Carnahan, all of Millsboro, Holly and Sean Keene of Jefferson; and David and Erin Robaugh of Kansas City, Mo.
At the request of the deceased, visitation and funeral services were private. Funeral services were held at the FRANK BURKUS FUNERAL HOME, Millsboro on Wednesday, Sept. 19 with the Rev. Paul Hazelton of Allison Nazarene Church officiating.
Interment followed in Acklin Cemetery, Brownsville.
Gilbert R. Hileman Jr.
Gilbert R. Hileman Jr., 69, of Portage, Ind., formerly of Uniontown, Pa., died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, in Rush St. Luke's Presbyterian Medical Center, Chicago, Ill.
He was born March 15, 1931, in Uniontown, Pa., a son of the late Gilbert R. Hileman Sr., and Mary A. Conn Hileman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Mae Reich.
Surviving are his wife of 2 1/2 years, Rose Ward Hileman; and a sister, Dorothy J. Hileman of Uniontown, Pa.
Mr. Hileman was employed with U.S. Steel, Gary Works, for 31 years, as a specialist layout man.
He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Korean War.
The family received friends in the EDMONDS & EVANS FUNERAL HOME, PORTAGE CHAPEL, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, Ind., Tuesday and Wednesday and services were held at the First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Joseph R. Baunoch officiating. Additional visitation will be held in the GOLDSBORO-TOMI FUNERAL HOME, 21 East Church St., Fairchance, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Paul Frank officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa. Graveside military rites will be accorded by AMVETS General Marshall Post 103 of Hopwood, Pa.
Herbert Smith
Herbert Smith, 93, of Confluence, Pa. died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000 in Somerset Hospital, Somerset, Pa.
He was a retired employee of Keystone Lime Company.
Surviving are four daughters, Nancy Lee Turney, Marilyn Dwire, Geraldine G. Smith, and Sarah Fitzpatrick; and a son, Jack R. Smith, all of Confluence; seven grandchildren; six great-children; and a sister Elsie Smith of Confluence.
Friends will be received at the Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence today from 7 to 9 p.m.; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22; and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, the hour of service.
Beatrice E. Williams
Beatrice E. Williams - Born January 7, 1901 in Perryopolis, daughter of Frederick Baker and Josephine Baker, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2000 in L.A.S. St. John's Lutheran Care Center, Mars, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Williams.
She is survived by her daughter, Sarah W. Campbell and son-in-law, Harry W. Campbell of Monroeville; grandsons: Daniel Scott Campbell and wife, Susanne of Denver, Col., Todd Allen and wife, Jennifer of Mount Lebanon; a brother Charles Baker of Waynesburg; sisters: Marjorie B. Clark of Sedona, Ariz., Jane Driggers of Sun City, Ariz., Anna Grace Tetreault of Lake Montezuma, Ariz., and Katherine Browning of Largo, Fla.
Services were conducted Monday, August 21, 2000 at the Jobes Funeral Home, Turtle Creek.
Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Uniontown.

Garnet Woodring
Garnet Woodring, 91, of Waynesburg, Pa. died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000 in her home.
She had worked at the Company Store in Clarksville, on the family dairy farm in Rices Landing, East End Restaurant in Waynesburg, and Waynesburg Packing.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Elsie W. Swenson of LeMoyne, Pa., Thressa A. Dulaney of Waynesburg, and Carol S. Blaker of Waynesburg; one son, James R. (Jimmy) Woodring of Waynesburg; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Samuel W. Simmons of Alexandria, Va., Jesse R. Simmons of Mich., and Charles E. Simmons of Midland.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Behm Funeral Home Inc., Greene St., Jefferson, where services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23.
Jesse L. Wrick Sr.
Jesse L. "Pappy" Wrick Sr., 85, of Greensboro R.D.1, Pa. died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000 at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, Pa.
Born April 2, 1915 in Davistown, Pa., he was a son of the late B.F. and Nora Belle Steele Wrick.
A coal miner, retired from J & L Steel Shannopin Mine in Bobtown, he was a member of the UMWA, Local 6159 in Bobtown and of the F.O.E. 1932 in Point Marion.
Surviving are his three children, Jesse L. Wrick Jr. of Greensboro R.D., and John A. Wrick and Mrs. Marvin (Jacqueline) Fisher, both of Dilliner; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Wrick Cree of Waynesburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Pauline Raber Wrick in 1981; a grandson, Wesley Wrick; a brother, Imry Frank Wrick; and four sisters: Lula St.Clair, Luna Fieldson, Margaret Wrick, and Evelyne Wamsley.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, today from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 23 until 11:30 a.m., the hour of services.
Interment follows in Highland Cemetery, Davistown.
Catherine Balsley
Catherine "Tat" Balsley, 84, of Dawson, Pa., died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, in the Harmon House Convalescent Center, Mount Pleasant, Pa.
She is survived by one brother, G.F. Ansell of Dawson, Pa.; and one sister, Ruth Stakelbeck of Scottdale; and nieces and nephews.
Private visitation and services will be held in the Ralph E. Galley Funeral Home, Dawson, Pa.
Charles Bello
Charles "Snooks" Bello, 77, of Phoenix, Ariz., died April 22, 2000, in Phoenix, Ariz.
He was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Bello.
Charles grew up in Amend, Pa., and then moved to Phoenix, where he lived and worked for 30 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Alex and Steve Bello.
Surviving are his wife, Janet Pompura Bello; three daughters, Patty, Tracy and Michelle Bello; two brothers, John Bello of Lehigh Acres, Fla., and Andrew Bello of Uniontown, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.
Private Funeral Services were held for the family in Phoenix, Ariz., on April 24, 2000.
Evelyn J. Karoffa
Evelyn J. (Meosky) Karoffa, 71, of Uniontown, Pa., died on Tuesday, May 2, 2000, in Uniontown Hospital.
She was born Jan. 18, 1929, in Ralph, Pa., a daughter of the late Paul and Catherine (Magda) Meosky.
Mrs. Karoffa was a member of Saint Mary's (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, was a graduate of German Township High School, Class of 1946, and was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union.
Surviving are her loving husband, Steve Karoffa, with whom she celebrated 52 years of marriage on April 24; her brother, Paul R. Meosky of Grand Island, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS Cemetery, 603 North Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, Pa., this evening from 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, May 6, 2000, when a Mass of Christian burial will be held at a time and place to be announced. Entombment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
Julia J. Lisac
Julia J. (Constantine) Lisac, 80, of Uniontown, Pa., died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, in Uniontown Hospital.
She was born July 21, 1919, in Dearth, daughter of the late Nick and Nellie Barretta Constantine.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Lisac Sr., in 1968; a brother, Anthony Constantine; and two sisters, Rose Ford and Jennie Cook.
Surviving are a son, George Lisac and his wife, Michele and a grandson, Ryan, all of Uniontown; three sisters, Mary Mehallic of Lorain, Ohio, Elizabeth Cicconi of Uniontown, and Catherine Tuckish and her husband, Steve of Smock; three brothers, Robert Constantine and his wife, Evelyn and William Constantine and his wife, Theresa, all of Smock, and Eugene Constantine and his wife, Marie of Uniontown; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of St. Therese Roman Catholic Church and the churches Women Scripture Study group.
Friends will be received in the DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, Uniontown, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, May 5, 2000, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at which time a Blessing Service will be held, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Therese R.C. Church, with the Rev. Fr. Kenneth Zaccagnini V.F., as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Macrina Cemetery.
Kathalea Orlosky
Kathalea Orlosky, 80, of Carmichaels, Pa., died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at 3:50 p.m., in Fairfax Nursing Center, Fairfax, Va.
She is survived by her second husband, Andrew R. Orlosky; the following children: Mrs. Roger (Perry) Dick of Letitz, Pa., Mrs. Leonard (Jackie) Shoemaker of Trenton, Mich., John Helmick and wife, Pat of Payson, Ariz., Robert Orlosky and wife, Betty of Fairfax Station, Va., and William Orlosky of Aberdeen, Md.; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a brother, Larry Rembold of Lake Worth, Fla.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Paul M. Lesako Funeral Home Inc., Carmichaels, Pa.
