Mabel L. Skinner
Mabel L. Spear Skinner, 80, of Farmington, Pa., passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2001, in Meyersdale Manor Inc.
She was born June 10, 1920, in Somerfield, Pa., daughter of the late Charles and Emma Frazee Spear.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin S. Skinner, in 1994; and brothers, Russell, John, Robert and Walter Spear.
Surviving are these children: Edith Messmer and husband, Red of Farmington, Pa., Priscilla Morrison and husband, Roger of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Cheryl Hunter of Uniontown, Pa., Gloria Kermes and husband, Steve and Ray Skinner and wife, Debbie, all of Farmington, Pa.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lettie Turney of Markleysburg, Pa.
Friends will be received in the RODNEY S. TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 254 Main St., Markleysburg, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Roland Pope Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in Humberston Cemetery.
Ray J. Sutton
Ray James "Jim" Sutton, 76, of Fairchance, Pa., went home to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ with his loving family by his side on Monday, April 9, 2001.
He was born June 28, 1924, in Georges Township, Pa., son of the late Guy Sutton Sr., and Jennie Chipps Sutton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy Sutton and Howard B. Sutton; and two brothers-in-law, John Reckard Jr., and Nathan Klingensmith.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Mabel Dickinson Sutton; two daughters, Joyce Tanner and her husband, Fred of Fairchance, and Jennie Welling and her husband, Harry of Smithfield; grandchildren, Freddy Tanner and his wife, Tori and Jimmy Tanner; great-grandchildren, Freddy "JR" Tanner and Zakery Tanner; his brother, Jon Sutton and his wife, Gladys of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three sisters, Dora Jane Reckard of Uniontown, Lois Hustead and husband, Glenn of Westland, Mich., and LaVina Klingensmith of Uniontown; two sisters-in-law, Patty Sutton of Smithfield, and Virginia "Sis" Sutton of Uniontown; and a very close family friend, Bonnie Summers of Fairchance.
Jim was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army 484th Medical Corps.
He was a self-employed carpenter all his life and a school bus driver for Kapalko, Burke and Laidlaw bus companies, until his retirement.
Jim was a Free Methodist by faith.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church St., Fairchance, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday until 1 p.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. George McLaughlin and the Rev Wayne Sawyer officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, with military rites being accorded by AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood.
Anna B. Wiles
Anna Belle Wiles, 86, of Fortney Street, Morgantown, W.Va., died on Wednesday, April 11, 2001, in Mon General Hospital, Morgantown.
She is survived by three sons and spouses, William F. and Pixie Wiles of East Lake, Ohio, Robert and Nancy Wiles of Morgantown, and Richard and Margie Wiles of Grindstone, Pa.; two daughters and spouse, Priscilla A. and Charles Walden of Granville, W.Va., and Margaret A. Walden of Westover, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the HASTINGS FUNERAL HOME, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will then be held, in the funeral home, on Friday, April 13, 2001, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Larry Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Kingwood, W.Va.
James E. Cofini
James E. Cofini, 64, passed away Monday, May 28, 2001.
He was born July 24, 1936, in Uniontown, Pa. He moved to Phoenix from Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1992, after his retirement.
He also served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sharon; sons, James and Derek; sisters, Anna Minkus and Cynthia Walters; a brother, Fred Cofini; and grandchildren, Ashley, Crystal, Matt, Zachary and Alysia.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 East Greenway Rd., Phoenix, Ariz.
Sophia A. Daniero
Sophia A. Daniero, 81, of Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, Va., died Monday, May 28, 2001, in Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, Va.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Daniero, a resident of Lignum Manor Assisted Living in Lignum, Va.; sons, Roger Daniero of Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, Va., and Joseph Daniero of Cherry Hill, N.J.; two daughters, Susan Natale and Frances Thompson, both of Woodbridge Va.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by the Laurel Hill Funeral Home, 10127 Plank Rd., Spotsylvania, Va.
Eva E. Davis
Eva E. "Betty" Davis, 90, of Uniontown, Pa., died Monday, May 28, 2001, in the Redstone Highlands Care Center, Greensburg.
She was born Aug. 13, 1910, in Uniontown, the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Rial Young.
Also preceding her in death was her husband, Joseph B. Davis, in 1980.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Uniontown. Eva’s life was focused on and dedicated to the loving care of her family.
Surviving are a son, Joseph B. Davis Jr., and his wife, Cathy of Springfield, Va.; a sister, Clementine Cameron of Camp Hill, Pa.; and a niece, Barbara Harrington of Foley, Ala.
Friends will be received in the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, on Sunday, June 3, 2001, from Noon until 2 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m., and on Monday, June 4, 2001, until the hour of service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Martha L. Foster
Martha L. Foster, 91, of Uniontown, Pa., died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in Mount Saint Macrina Manor.
She was born July 25, 1909, in Tarentum, Pa., the daughter of the late Harry and Eliza Brown Girt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo N. Foster II, in 1976; a brother, John Girt; and five sisters, Margaret Scott, Ruth Schrecker, Harriet Branthoover, Mildred Girt and Lydia Arnold.
Martha attended Great Bethel Baptist Church of Uniontown, the Services League, the Colonel Andrew Lynn Chapter of the DAR, the Uniontown Hospital Auxiliary, and the Uniontown Flower Club.
Surviving are a son, Alonzo N. Foster III, of Uniontown; a daughter, Ellen L. Foster of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a niece, raised by Martha, Marjorie Martin and her Family of Alexandria, Va.
Friends will be received in the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., Uniontown, today from 9 until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with Dr. Neil Hoppe officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Verla Hay Green
Verla Hay Green, 84, of College Park, Md., formerly of Mill Run, died Monday, at her residence.

The Rev. Fr. Michael T. Gubanich
The Rev. Fr. Michael T. Gubanich, 83, of 106 South Pine St., Ellsworth, Pa., died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in the Vincentian Home, Pittsburgh.
Rev. Gubanich attended the St. Barnabas School, Rankin High School, Schenley Night School and Duquesne University. Rev. Gubanich was employed for six years at the Kopp Glass Company, in Swissvale, before entering St. Vincent Seminary.
On June 15, 1947, Fr. Gubanich was ordained and became the Parochial Vicar at St. Joachim, Greenfield, until 1948. He then went on to serve at St. Henry, Mt. Oliver until 1953; St. Mark, McKees Rocks, from 1953 to 1959; Holy Trinity, Duquesne, from 1959 to 1962; Our Lady of Consolation, Nemacolin, from 1962 to 1963; St. Ann, Homestead, from 1963 to 1966, where he was Temporary Administrator. In 1966, he became Pastor of the St. Clement Parish, Ellsworth, and its mission church, St. Joseph, Cokeburg, where he remained until his retirement on Oct. 25, 1993.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main St., Bentleyville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. Additional visitation will be held in St. Luke R.C. Church, Bentleyville, Pa., on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.
Elmer W. Harden
Elmer "Dude" Walter Harden, 79, of York Run, Pa., passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at his home.
He was born at Shoaf, Pa., on March 3, 1922, the son of the now late, William and Plezzie (Flowers) Harden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Harden on Sept. 12, 1999; four brothers, Omer, Lloyd, Jacob and Bill; and a sister, Zella. Dude was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Dude was Protestant by faith. He was a retired autoworker having worked at the Brook Park Ford Plant in Ohio, for many years. He was a member of the UAW, the 40/8, the Point Marion F.O.E., and the Moose Lodge in Medina, Ohio.
Surviving are one son, Elmer "Gene" Harden of York Run, Pa.; and two grandsons, Brandon and Tyler of Cleveland, Ohio.
The family will receive friends in the JOHN F. BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME OF SMITHFIELD, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday until 11 a.m., when services will be conducted with Pastor Mary Shultz and Pastor Joann Ables officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield.
Vitelle O. Harrison
Vitelle Boozer Harrison of Uniontown, Pa., died Saturday evening, May 26, 2001, in Mount Saint Macrina Manor.
She was born July 5, 1907, in Woodruff, S.C., daughter of the late Ervin and Bessie Foster Boozer.
She was the oldest member of the Mount Rose Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Mount Rose Usher Board for over 60 years.
Her husband, Garland Harrison Sr.; the following sons, Carl, James, Robert "Tigee", Charles "Buddy", Wayne "Coop" and Larry "Glimpy" Harrison and granddaughter, Brenda (Harrison) Dixon preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Wilhelmina Boozer Foster; and three brothers, Ervin Jr., Carl and Stephen Boozer.
She is survived by a son, Garland Harrison Jr., and wife, Evelyn of Arkansas; a daughter, Dr. Selma Harrison of Columbus, Ohio; special daughters-in-law, Betty Ford Harrison of Uniontown, and Norma King Fulton of Cleveland, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Alice Newman of Detroit, Mich.; a devoted family friend, Johnny Moorman of Uniontown; a hosts of grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, Percy Pearson of Baltimore, Md., Melzetta Williams of Washington, D.C., and Lettie Polite and Magnolia Whiteside of Asheville, N.C.; and very special family: sons, daughters and grandchildren of the late Aaron and Anna (Humes) Gregory; and other friends and relatives.

Linda M. Hill
Linda Mae Hill, 57, a resident of Bobtown, Pa., for 22 years, died Monday, May 28, 2001, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
She is survived by her lifelong partner, Mark Boden of Bobtown and his parents, Clifford and Pauline Boden of Bobtown; two sons, Donald Meredith and companion, Terrie Tennant of Abingdon, Md., and Douglas Boden of Bobtown; two daughters, Wanda Proctor and spouse, Doc of LaPlata, Md., and Brenda Meredith and companion, Tim of Spragg, Pa.; one granddaughter; four sisters, Joyce Grandstaff and spouse, Robert of Petersburg, Va., Elsie Dickey and Jane DeLauter, both of Dilliner, Pa., and Barbara Jean Sugars of Fredrick, Md.; and one brother, Tommy Smith of Frederick, Md.
