Linda R. Holt
Linda Ruth Holt, 46, of Smithfield, Pa., passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, in Morgantown, W.Va.
She was born in Uniontown, Pa., on Aug. 1, 1954.
Preceding her in death were her husband, David, in 1983; and an infant son, Tim.
She is survived by her father, William Liston of Ohio; three sons, David Holt and his fiancée, Sherry of Fairchance, Jim Holt and his wife, Amy of Smithfield, and Lawrence Holt of Smithfield; four grandchildren; her mother and father-in-law, Ruth and Lawrence Holt of Smithfield, with whom she made her home; a sister, Nancy Casteel of Little Brownfield, Pa.; a brother, Bobby Liston of the state of Florida; and several aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends in the JOHN F. BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME OF SMITHFIELD, today from 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, June 2, until 11 a.m., when services will be conducted, with the Rev. Jay Hurley officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Fairchance.
Leona R. Jackson
Leona Ruth Jackson, 63, of Glen Burnie, Md., and formerly of Point Marion, Pa., died Monday, May 28, 2001, at the home of her sister, Edith Summerfield, in Point Marion.
She was born in Connellsville, Pa., on July 20, 1937, a daughter of the late William and Mary Hennen Miller.
In addition to her sister, she is survived by five children, James Jackson of Smithfield, Pa., Deborah Jackson of Morgantown, W.Va., Patricia McGaughey and Joanna Lemus, both of Baltimore, Md., and Christina Bryant of Glen Burnie; 18 grandchildren, Billie Jo Nicklow, Pamela Jackson, John Seigle, Angelee Murphy, Jamie, Mark, Angela, Tiffany and Nathan McGaughey, Rafael, Michael and Jessica Lemus, Leann, Christopher Joseph, Melissa, Kimberly and James Bryant and Julia White; 11 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jason and Heather Nicklow, Justin Murphy, Timmy and Selena Seigle, Scott, Joey and Brianna White, Brittany Petrusik and David Sutter; and by many nieces, nephews and friends, including a special friend, Clyde Edgell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Ruffner; a grandson, Timothy Seigle; two brothers, Thomas and James Miller; and two sisters, Bonnie and Edna Miller.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, 501 Morgantown St., Point Marion, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. LeeRoy Edgell officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield.
Verna J. May
Verna Jean Claya May, 88, of Deerfield Township, N.J., formerly of Bute Road, died Monday, May 28, 2001, in Deerfield Township, N.J.
She was born Oct. 31, 1912, in Simpson, Pa., daughter of the late Joseph and Veronica Gallick Claya.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony May on April 9, 1990; and ten brothers and sisters.
She is survived by five daughters, Diana Baldish, with whom she resided, Verna "Tina" Rabbai and Antoinette "Toni" Litzinger, both of Bridgeton, N.J., Juanita Bertucci of Cedarville, N.J., and Lucille Conn of Orwigsburg, Pa.; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Garbarko of Dunbar; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, Uniontown, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, June 2, 2001, until 9 a.m., at which time a Blessing Service will be held, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Kenneth G. Zaccagnini V.F., as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. Florence V. Miller, 101, of Uniontown, formerly of Connellsville, died Monday, in Beverly Healthcare, Uniontown.

James R. Schollaert
James Richard Schollaert, 65, of Uniontown, Pa., died suddenly Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born Nov. 27, 1935, in Aliquippa, Pa., son of the late James M. and LelaBelle Schollaert.
Surviving are his wife, Lois J. (Braddock) Schollaert, whom he married on Aug. 8, 1959, at the Bible Baptist Church in Uniontown, Pa.; three children, Randy L. Schollaert and wife, Ronda of Charleroi, Pa., Cindy B. Schollaert McMahon and husband, Wade A. of Smithfield, Pa., and Richard J. Schollaert of Uniontown, Pa.; and the following relatives, Clarence Schollaert of Sturgeon, Pa., and Catherine Schollaert McCabe of Sarasota, Fla. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Brandon, Shelby and Meagan McMahon, all of Smithfield, Pa., and Nathan Schollaert and Jennifer and Aubrey Tokar, all of Charleroi, Pa.; and his beloved animal friends, Penny and Mitzzi.
Jim was an avid walleye fisherman, and a member of the Yough Walleye Association and will be sadly missed by all. He served in the Korean Conflict in the Philippines, was employed by Fruehauf Corporation from 1961-1964, and then retired from U.S. Steel, after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church of Uniontown, was Past Commander of the American Legion Post 51 of Uniontown, from 1988 to 1989, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Uniontown.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., 139 West Fayette St., Uniontown, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, June 2, until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. James Farrer officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, where military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 51. American Legion Post 51 will conduct Ritualistic Services on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Ollie Shaver
Ollie Shaver, 89, of Allison No. 1, Pa., died Sunday morning, May 27, 2001, in Brownsville General Hospital, Brownsville, Pa.
She was born Aug. 14, 1911, in Georgiana, Ala., daughter of the late John and Ever Adams.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oris Shaver in 1995.
Surviving are three children, Nathaniel Shaver of Warren, Ohio, Eveline Byrd of Allison No. 1, Pa., and Alma Jefferies of Warren, Ohio; three sisters, Lula McKee of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Inez Pugy and Emma Miles, both of Georgiana, Ala.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received in the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main St., Uniontown, Pa., on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Howard Amos officiating. Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
Teresa H. Smitley
Teresa H. Smitley, 103, of Hopwood, Pa., passed away Monday, May 28, 2001, at her home.
She was born August 19, 1897.
She was "Mom Smitley" to many she loved and who loved her.
Teresa was a member of Hopwood Free Methodist Church.
Her husband, William Clyde Smitley, predeceased her.
She was the mother of Pastor M. Jean Parry of Hopwood, Pa., and William C. Smitley of North Versailles, Pa.; grandmother to David Parry of Douglasville, Ga., Bonnie Duncan of Lancaster, Pa., and Bill Smitley of Memphis, Tenn. She has three great-grandchildren: Matthew, Tommy, and Elizabeth.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Visitation continues Friday, June 1, in Hopwood Free Methodist Church, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m., with the Rev. William Moull officiating.
Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery, Braddock, Pa.
Margaret Snyder
Margaret Snyder, 89, of South Connellsville, died Wednesday, at Highlands Hospital, Connellsville.
She is survived by her husband, James Robert Snyder; a son, Robert M. Snyder of Champion; two grandsons and a sister, Mrs. Robert (Arabelle) Rosendale of South Connellsville.
Friends will be received at Brooks Funeral Home Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, today from noon to 9 p.m. and until 10 a.m. Friday.
Robert A. Travis
Robert Allen Travis, 53, of Point Marion, Pa., died suddenly Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in the Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
He was a former carrier for the Herald Standard and Point Marion newspapers for the past several years.
Surviving are his mother, Gladys Menear Travis of Point Marion; a brother, Marvin E. Travis and wife, Gail of Levittown, Pa.; two sisters, Nancy L. Travis of Point Marion, and Anna Mae Weber and husband, Carl of Morgantown; two half-sisters, Marcella Lyons of Hunker, Pa., and Joann Dingle of Morgantown; an aunt and uncle; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Additional visitation will be held in the Point Marion Baptist Church on Sunday, June 3, from 1 to 2 p.m., the hour of service.
Paul W. Vanella
Paul W. "Pistol" Vanella, 65, of Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, in Harmon House Convalescent Center, Mount Pleasant.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Tressler Vanella; three sons, Paul W. Vanella Jr. of Mount Pleasant, Mark N. Vanella of Pittsburgh and David J. Vanella of Greensburg; a daughter, Dawn L. Vanella of Mount Pleasant; five grandchildren and a sister Anne Marie "Dolly" Vanella of Mount Pleasant.
Friends will be received at Galone-Caruso’s, 204 Eagle St., Mount Pleasant, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and until 10 a.m. Friday.
Donald C. Burnsworth
Donald C. "Pete" Burnsworth, 58, of Hall Road, Mill Run, Pa. died Tuesday, October 24, 2000 near Kingwood, W.Va. as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born June 22, 1942 in Connellsville, Pa., a son of Donald N. and Leora Mae (Stark) Burnsworth of Mill Run.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia Lou (Beal) Burnsworth; sons, Donald C. Burnsworth Jr. and wife Dee of Fairchance, Charles S. Burnsworth and wife Betty of Revere, Patrick J. Burnsworth and wife Dianne of Confluence; and daughters, Nina M. Kern and husband Richard of Normalville, and Madalyn C. Myers and husband John of Oliphant Furnace; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond L., John F., Tim A., and Harry D. Burnsworth; and sisters, Cora "Sis" Kilgore and Eldora R. Sparguar, all of Mill Run.
Mr. Burnsworth formerly owned and operated Burnsworth Lumber in Dunbar and recently was employed as a carpenter in North Carolina. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, wood working, and spending time with his family.

Bennie H. Collins Jr.
Bennie H. Collins Jr. "Bimbo", 30, of Uniontown, Pa. died October 11, 2000 in Morgantown, W.Va.
He was born December 14, 1969 in Uniontown, son of Gloria Calloway Collins and the late Bennie H. Collins Sr.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his half-sister, Kitty Hodge.
Surviving are his mother, Gloria Collins of Uniontown; four sisters, Shirley Jones, Willie Capers, Gloria Albert, and Sherise Collins, all of Uniontown; three brothers, Floyd Calloway, Dwayne Calloway, and Aaron Collins, all of Uniontown; a half-sister, Ruth Ann Collins of Brownsville; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held from the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main St., Uniontown, Pa., on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000 at 2 p.m. with Rev. James Calloway Sr., Rev. James Calloway Jr., and Rev. Simeon Hatcher officiating.
