Margaret Grace Peck Carr, 60, of Fayette City, Pa., died Monday, March 26, 2001, in Mon Valley Hospital.
She was born Sept. 3, 1940, in Pittsburgh, Pa., daughter of the late Richard and Mae Simpson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Carr; and an infant daughter, Mae Elizabeth Carr.
Surviving are her children: Howard Carr and wife, Cheryl of Republic, Harold (Tony) Carr of Fairbank, Harrison (Harry) Carr and wife, Margaret A. of Fayette City, Melissa Teets and husband, Vic of Republic, Mary Ann Carr of Isabelle, and Margaret G. Carr of Searights; a sister, Charlene Forsythe of Newell; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the ELEY/MCCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday until 11 a.m., the hour of services, in the funeral home, with the Rev. James Dillinger officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park.
Lloyd Clark Jr.
Lloyd Clark Jr., 64, of Evans Mills, N.Y., formerly of Fairchance, Pa., died Wednesday morning, March 28, 2001, at 5 a.m., in Carthage Hospital, in New York.
Lloyd was a dairy farmer by trade.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Clark; one daughter, Audrey Davenport of New York; eight sons, Thomas, Keith, Robert, Norman, Scott, Phillip, David and Danny Clark, all of New York; 16 grandchildren; four brothers, Charles, Wayne, Ronnie and James Clark; and sisters, Jennie, Margaret and Betty.
Friends will be received in the Frederick Brothers Funeral Home, 38422, Route 37, Theresa, N.Y., on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday at 1 p.m., the hour of service.
Thomas F. Cortese
Thomas F. Cortese, 58, of Connellsville, Pa., died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born June 13, 1942, in South Connellsville, Pa., a son of the late Thomas Anthony and Genevieve (Nibbi) Cortese.
Thomas was a graduate of Connellsville High School Class of 1960. He was formerly employed as a furniture store manager by Gee Bee’s Furniture Store in the Uniontown Mall and later by Swan Appliance & Furniture Inc., Connellsville.
He was a faithful member of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church of Dunbar.
He is survived by his beloved wife and "Most Prized Treasure", Donna (Friguglietti) Cortese of Connellsville; two loving sons, Michael T. Cortese and Joseph R. Cortese and wife, Jennifer, both of Connellsville; four beautiful grandchildren, Kyle, Madison, Colton and Anthony Thomas Cortese; two brothers, Charlie Pritchard of Baltimore and Norman Weimer of Connellsville; and many aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and a best buddy, Prosper Friguglietti.
Family and friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 North Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, where a blessing service will be held on Friday at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., in St. Aloysius R.C. Church, with the Rev. Fr. Edward McCullough as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Rita’s R.C. Cemetery, Connellsville. A Parish Wake Service will be held, in the funeral home, today at 3:30 p.m.
Mazie E. Evans
Mazie Ellen Evans, 90, formerly of Point Marion, Pa., died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, in the Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
She was born Feb. 26, 1911, in Jeannette, Pa., a daughter of the late Edward and Myrtle Balsinger Hollis.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Point Marion, and of the Ladies Anti-Can’t Bible Class. She was a former member of the O.E.S. and the Rebekahs.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Lucille Chessler of Dilliner, Mrs. Robert (Blossom) McClure of Youngwood, Pa., and Mrs. Joseph L. (Ann) Michotte and Mrs. Louis (Carol) Mahalic, both of Orlando, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl I. Evans on June 28, 1989; a brother, Raymond Hollis; and a sister, Ruth Mansberry.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Steven Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Wolf’s Cemetery, Dilliner.
George C. Fretts
George C. Fretts, 86, of Scottdale R.D. 1 (East Huntingdon Township), Pa., passed away Wednesday morning, March 28, 2001, in Jo-Ella’s Personal Care Home of Scottdale.
George was a self-employed dairy farmer, working on his farm in East Huntingdon Township, retiring in 1974, due to poor health. He was also a rural letter carrier with the United States Postal Service.
George is survived by his loving family: a daughter, Saundra Lee Crosby and her husband, Richard of Lilburn, Ga.; two sons, Donald C. Fretts and his wife, Judy of Scottdale R.D. 1, and Robert J. Fretts and wife, Susan of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; six grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Sanders of Perryopolis, and Betty Brecht and husband, Jack of McMinnville, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received in the Robert B. Ferguson Funeral Home, 105 Spring St. Scottdale, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday at 11 a.m., the hour of services.
Mary A. Kaleita
Mary Ann Panak Kaleita, 95, of California, Pa., died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
She was born on Nov. 13, 1905, in Daisytown, Pa., daughter of the late Adam and Anna Psotka Panak.
She was a lifetime member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church of California, Pa.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kaleita on April 12, 1969.
Surviving are three children, Constance J. Troxel of Damascus, Md., Joseph M. Kaleita of Deer Lake, Pa., and Annette Kaleita, at home; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME INC., 135 Park St., Brownsville, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where a prayer service will be held on Saturday at a time to be announced, followed by a Funeral Mass at a time to be announced, in St. Thomas Aquinas Church of California, Pa., with the Rev. William K. Knopsnider
William K. "Kenny" Knopsnider, 51, of Clinton, Pa., died suddenly Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in the Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant.
He was born July 28, 1949, in Clinton, a son of the late Strawn H. and Mary Ellen Burkholder Knopsnider.
Kenny was a lifelong resident of Clinton, and was a graduate of the Connellsville High School, with the Class of 1968. He worked as a meter reader for the Allegheny Power Company.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves in Uniontown.
Kenny is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Leona K Layman Knopsnider of Clinton; two daughters, Karla McCann and her husband, William of Kittanning and Stephanie Knopsnider of Clinton; a son, William K. "Joe" Knopsnider Jr., of Stephens City, Va.; four grandchildren, Stephen and Savannah Knopsnider and Kyle and Sarah McCann; his step-grandchildren, Christine, Alison and Sean McCann; a brother, Randall Knopsnider and his wife, Elizabeth of Elyria, Ohio; and three sisters, Opal Letherwood and her husband, Clyde of Detroit, Mich., Shirley Nicholson of Normalville, and Wilma Nicholson and her husband, Charles of Normalville.
Friends will be received in the CLYDE BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 711, Melcroft, today from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m., in the funeral home, with the Rev. John H. Lowery
John H. Lowery, 51, of Republic, Pa., died Tuesday, March 27, 2001.
He is survived by three sons, John H. Lowery III, Esquire, of Grindstone, Pa., Mark A. Lowery of Leonardtown, Md., and Robert J. Gibson of Layton, Pa.; a sister, Ruth (Duchess) Thompson No. 2, Pa., died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at 3:07 p.m., at home.
She was born April 21, 1924, in Lamberton, Pa., daughter of the late George Ervin and Birdie Jemison.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Bill Royster; her sister, Josephine Ervin Sanders; and a brother-in-law, Cleo Royster.
She is survived by one sister, Minnie Anderson of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Hattie Royster of Thompson No. 2, and Lartha Smith and Goldie Harris, both of Pittsburgh, and Santa Thompson No. 2, and Lloyd Parker of Maryland; two cousins, Loreana White of Ohio, and Delores Beasley of Smock; and a very good friend, Richard "Chick" Frey of Republic.
Friends will be received in the MT. ARARAT BAPTIST CHURCH of Cardale, today from 4 to 9 p.m., and on Friday at 1 p.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Lonnie Simon, and the Rev. Lorraine M. Sellaro
Lorraine M. Sellaro, 73, of Fayette Avenue, Belle Vernon, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in the Greensburg Care Center.
She was born Feb. 4, 1928, in Granville, she was the daughter of the late Fred Martina and Helen Hatch Gaskill.
She was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon.
Formerly of Star Junction, she had lived in Belle Vernon the past 21 years.
Survivors include her husband, Louis A. Sellaro; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randy and Monika Johns of Layton, Utah, and James Sellaro of Uniontown; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jamie and Randy Jaffre of Star Junction, Candace and Chuck Novak of Herndon,Va., Karen and Thomas Penney of West Newton, and Lois Ann and George Cowan of Perryopolis; four sisters, Patricia Rossell of Stafford, Va., Julia Wisyanski of Fayette City, Jessie Bevan of Roscoe, and Dorothy Presky of Spokane, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Thomas Penney Jr., Cameron Penney, Alan Novak, Erin Beth Novak, Michael Domonkos, Cyrena Johns and George Cowan; one great-granddaughter, Skyllar Lynn Domonkos; two special friends, Patricia Truskey and Gary Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Varner L. Johns, in 1973; and three brothers, Richard, Louis and James Martina.

William Thomas
William (Bill) Thomas, 79, of Fairchance, Pa., and formerly of Holbrook, in Greene County, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at the home of his daughter, Gloria Markley of Amend, Pa.
He was born in Fredericktown, Pa., on Feb. 21, 1922, a son of the now late Frank and Mary Lewis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Thomas and one son, Ray Thomas.
He was a retired powder mill worker, having worked at Liberty Powder Mill, in Mt. Braddock, Pa., and belonged to the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Waynesburg, Pa.
Surviving are the following children: Joyce Straight and her fiancée, Verlin Moats of Dilliner, Pa., Gloria Markley and her husband, Roger of Uniontown, Pa., Gregg Thomas and his fiancée, Marcy of Bobtown, Pa., and Mary Flowers and her husband, John of Masontown, Pa.; four stepchildren, Patty Morris and husband, John of Uniontown, Pa., Terry Sabo and husband, Mike of McClellandtown, Leslie Hixon of Virginia, and Edward Hixon and wife, Tara of Smithfield, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Irene Thomas of Dilliner; 15 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
