Joseph Thomas Clawson, 58, of South Connellsville, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, in Miner's Hospital, Hastings, Pa. Family and friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Byron Tate Fulton officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville. The South Connellsville Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a service today at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

Thomas M. Adams, 79, of Connellsville, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at Uniontown Hospital. He was born Nov. 16, 1921, in Adelaide, Pa., a son of the late Andrew and Veronica (Hrapchak) Adams. Thomas was a graduate of Dunbar Township High School Class of 1940 and a veteran of World War II. Prior to his retirement in 1986, he worked as an electrician for the Local I.B.E.W. #5 for 32 years. He was a member of St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church, the Independent Slovak Citizens Club, the Polish Club, the Trotter American Legion, the VFW Post 21 and the Morrell Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by two sons, Michael Adams and his wife, Christine, of Murrysville and Robert Adams of Maui, Hawaii; two daughters, Vanessa Wilson and her husband, Rod, of Smithfield and Karen Henderson of Connellsville; six grandchildren, Kim (Adams) Wong and her husband, Eric, of Pittsburgh, Aaron and Adam Wilson of Smithfield, Ryan Adams of Murrysville, Ashley and Amanda Henderson, both of Connellsville; also many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Doreen A. (Cammell) Adams (2000); a brother, Edward Adams; four sisters, Mary Ulery, Ann Geisler, Veronica Grimm and Margaret Sokola; also an infant son, Thomas Allen Adams; and an infant brother, Andrew Adams. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 N. Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, where a panachida service will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a divine liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Joseph Kapusnak officiating. Interment will follow with full military rites accorded by the VFW Post 21, American Legion Posts 301 and 762 in St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Leisenring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church, Leisenring.

Ruth Ora (Kuhns) Myers, 66, of Acme, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born May 18, 1935, in Donegal, the daughter of the late Palmer and Alice Morris Kuhns. Ruth Ora was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Donegal, The Old Fiddlers Jubilee, the Senior Citizens that meet at the Acme United Methodist Church and was a member of the Donegal Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Donegal. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by one brother, Robert Kuhns. She is survived by her husband William C. Myers, with whom she was married for 45 years; her children, Marie P. Myers Hay and her husband Alan of Friedens, Donna E. Myers Vucelich and her husband Michael of Lynch Station, Va., William W. Myers and his wife Deborah of Acme, R.D.3, George R. Myers at home, David W. Myers of Mendon and Edward C. Myers at home; 13 grandchildren; one brother, Donald Kuhns of Pittsburgh; one sister, Laura Belle Kuhns Shawley and her husband Ed of Donegal; her stepmother, Sarah Schmuck Kuhns; and a stepsister, Ilene Schmuck Swaney and her husband Pete of Shope; and numerous nieces and nephews and close friends. Friends will be received at the CLYDE BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 711, Melcroft, from 2 to 9 p.m. today and Wednesday where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wade E. (Barney) Barnhart, 72, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Connellsville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, in Tampa, Fla. He was born Jan. 15, 1929, in Connellsville, the son of the late Fred and Margaret Watson Barnhart. He was a graduate of Connellsville High School in 1946. Wade served with the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He was a local musician being a drummer for several groups. In 1956 he went to Tampa, Fla. and organized several musical groups including Barney Barnhart's Dixieland Band. He was a member of The Temple Terrace United Methodist Church of Tampa. He is survived by a daughter, Jane Ann Barnhart and fiance Scott Hardison of Tampa; a son, Douglas Barnhart and wife Robin of Tampa, Fla.; four grandchildren, Tana, Victoria, Christian and Olivia Barnhart; his former wife, Sarah Leighliter of Tampa, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Eleanor M. Hartz Barnhart of Connellsville; nieces, Dorothy Fosbrink and Jean Ann Porter of Connellsville; nephew, Howard D. Barnhart of Pittsburgh. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Leona McCusker and Wilma Jean Porter; two brothers, Howard D. Barnhart, during World War II, and Frederick Barnhart; two brother-in-laws, Edward McCusker and John Robert (Bo) Porter. Dorothy Exline Barron, 81, of Mount Pleasant, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at the home of her son, Ronald Pritts, in Andover, Mass. Born March 6, 1920, in Mount Pleasant, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Bessie (Kalp) Exline. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Lenox Crystal, Mount Pleasant, and Montgomery Wards as a credit manager. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Church of God. She was a graduate of Ramsay High School, Class of 1938. She was recognized by Ripley's Believe It Or Not for her signature, . X -. In addition, she was a Fallingwater historian. Surviving are three sons, Ronald L. Pritts and wife Margaret of Andover, Mass., James E. Pritts and wife Patricia of Redwood City, Calif., Barry L. Pritts and wife Diane of Harrisburg; two stepsons, Paul Barron Jr. of Mount Pleasant and David J. Barron of State College; a stepdaughter, Sandra Hamm and husband John of Champion, a sister, Betty Crise and husband Richard of Florida; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul (Pete) Barron Sr. in 1978; and a stepdaughter, Linda S. Barron Harshman in 1970. Friends will be received in the EUGENE G. Frank W. "KuKu" Comfort Sr., 86, of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, in Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant. Born March 1, 1915, in Tarrs, he was a son of the late Ross and Mary Grace (Salvato) Comfort. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a truck driver for Whitestar Laundry, McKeesport, for 29 years, and as a toll collector for the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Donegal interchange, for 13 years. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mount Pleasant. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. In addition, he was a member of the American Legion Post 446 and VFW Post 3368, both of Mount Pleasant, Teamsters Union, a life member of both the Hecla Sportsman's Club and Assunta Club, Mount Pleasant. Surviving are a son, Frank W. Comfort Jr. and wife, Sharon, of Delaware, Ohio; a daughter, Joanne Kaczynski and husband, Eugene, of Scottdale; a sister, Anne Karaffa of Mount Pleasant; five grandchildren, Teresa Cantini, Jeannie Swank, Lisa Kaczynski, Christopher Comfort and Sumer Comfort; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence M. (Lattanzo) Comfort, in 1995; two brothers, Michael and Guy "Al" Comfort; two sisters, Rose Benedict and Josephine Comfort; and infant twins, Helen and Charles Comfort. Michael W. Matusak as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Rita's Cemetery, Connellsville, with full military rites accorded by members of the American Legion and VFW.

Jay A. Reynolds, 75, of Williams Avenue, Scottdale, died early Wednesday morning, Nov. 14, 2001, in IHS of Greater Pittsburgh, Greensburg. He was born March 24, 1926, in Scottdale, a son of the late Albert A. and Virginia Noss Reynolds and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Scottdale. Prior to his retirement, Jay was self-employed as an insurance agent in the Scottdale area with over 30 years of service. Jay was a member of the Scottdale Elks BPOE #777, where he participated in the pool league. Jay was also a member of the Everson VFW Post. He was presently a part-time employee during tax season for the Pa. Department of Revenue, Greensburg office. Jay was a veteran of the armed forces serving with the U.S. Navy during World War II on the US NTS and the USS Moore, attaining the rank of Quartermaster 3rd Class. He was the recipient of the European Theatre, Pacific Theatre and the American Theatre ribbons and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a graduate of Scottdale High School Class of 1944 and Franklin Business School. Jay was an avid golfer and loved the card game of bridge. Jay leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Lorraine (Renie) Hines Reynolds, whom he married June 18, 1947; two daughters, Gloria A. Bushyeager of Clarion, Diane R. Reed and her husband, Jerry, of Neosho, Mo.; four grandchildren, Shannon and Kisa Bushyeager, Drew and Emily Mickolay; two stepgrandchildren, Erin and Bethany Reed; one sister, Janet Beers and her husband, George, of Liverpool, N.Y. Jay's family will receive friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Clara M. "Tamie" (Bowman) Barko, 66, of Ruffsdale, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, after a four-year courageous battle with cancer. Born June 10, 1935, in Mount Pleasant, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Lydia (Creighton) Bowman. She was a member of Grandview Church of God, Smithton. Prior to her illness she was an assistant chef for Mr. P's Restaurant, Greensburg. She was also a contributing member of the American Cancer Society. Her memories will be cherished by her husband of 44 years, Joel A. Barko Sr.; two sons, Joel A. Barko Jr. and wife Linda of Connellsville and Joey L. Barko of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; two daughters, Lisa A. Fox of Irwin and Kathy J. Dill and husband Henry "Pickle" at home; three brothers, Kenneth Bowman and wife Jean of Wooddale, Braden "Bud" Bowman and wife Faye of Dunbar and Melvin Bowman and wife Jo Ann of Greensburg; four sisters, Mary Cumberland of Connellsville, Dorothy Hostetler of Mount Pleasant, Margaret Barko of Connellsville, Frances Barko and husband, Ted, of Greensburg; a brother-in-law, Albert Collins of Mount Pleasant; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bowman of Scottdale, Dixie Bowman of Latrobe, and Nancy L.
