Gerald F. "Baby Jerry" Younkin III, 2, of South Connellsville, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc., Washington County. He was born Oct. 26, 1999, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Gerald F. Younkin II of Mount Pleasant and Billie J. Ohler of South Connellsville. "Baby Jerry" loved to watch cartoons, especially Scooby Doo. He also loved to ride his "little motorcycle." He will be loved, remembered and sadly missed by those he leaves behind. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his baby sister, Rebecca Ohler; paternal grandparents, Gerald and Mary Lee Younkin of Connellsville; maternal grandparents, William and Theresa Shipley of Connellsville; great-grandparents, Homer and Betty Younkin and John and Mabel Sanner, all of Connellsville; a great-grandmother, Pearl Adams of Connellsville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Ernest and Margaret Shedlock; his great-grandfather, Robert Adams; and a great-uncle, Michael Benedetto. Friends will be received at the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 N. Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, today from 2 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m., the hour of the blessing service with the Rev. Father Terry Hercik officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.

James E. Fenton

James E. Fenton, 75, of Mount Pleasant, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, in the specialty care unit of Westmoreland Hospital. He was born in Mount Pleasant Township, Feb. 24, 1926, a son of the late Presley and Viola Shaffer Fenton. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Western Electric as a technician. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy as a yohman 2nd Class. He was a member of the American Legion Post #446 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3368, both of Mount Pleasant, and Western Electric Retirees. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Fenton; and a brother, Charles Fenton. He is survived by three sisters, Charlotte Martin of Winchester, Ind., Jean Fenton and Arlene Assey, both of Mount Pleasant Township; two brothers, William and Donald Fenton, both of Mount Pleasant; an aunt, Gladys Bash of Mount Pleasant; and nieces and nephews. Friends were received in the FRANK R. ZIMMERMAN FUNERAL HOME INC., 627 Smithfield St., Mount Pleasant, Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. Services were held in the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Shirley Farino, officiating. Interment followed in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery with full military rights accorded.
Angela M. Savage

Angela M. Coppetti Savage, 70, of Garfield Avenue, Scottdale, died Friday evening, Dec. 14, 2001, in UPMC Presbyterian, Oakland. She was born in Scottdale, April 11, 1931, a daughter of the late Frank Coppetti, who died Oct. 25, 1957, and Mary (Engert) Ingrutti, who died Jan. 30, 1978. Angela was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Scottdale, and a member of the former Charismatic Prayer Group, in which she participated in for over 25 years. Angela was a quiet, loving and understanding wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband of 50 years, Clifford E. Savage, with whom she celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Nov. 20, 2001; her children, Darlene R. and her husband, David Albright, of Uniontown, Steven W. Savage and his wife, Cathy (Winzek), of Mount Pleasant and Mary Jane and her husband, Marc Bryan, of Greensburg; her five granddaughters, Stacy Savage-Comstock, Sabrina Van Fleet, Shavon Savage, Angela Bryan and Lee Ann Bryan; her great-grandson, Grant Van Fleet; her brothers, Patsy Coppetti of Scottdale and Joseph Coppetti and his wife, Janet (Roth), of Scottdale; four aunts; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Angela was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Coppetti, on Sept. 27, 1999. Angela's family received friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing was held Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by her funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Scottdale, with her pastor, the Rev. Leonard W. Stoviak, as celebrant. Committal services and interment followed in St. John the Baptist Parish Cemetery, Scottdale. A parish wake service was held Sunday in the funeral home.

Cheryl Grace Ivan, 53, of Connellsville died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born Dec. 23, 1947, in Indiana, Pa., a daughter of William James Miller of Scottdale and the late Earlamonda Sylvis Miller. Cheryl was a graduate of London High School, London, Ohio, in 1967. In addition to her father she is survived by her husband, Michael Ronald Ivan; four children, Adrianna Ivan-Perrone and her husband, Petty Officer William (Bud) Perrone, U.S. Navy of Sicily, Italy, Michael William Ivan and his wife, Kim Stouffer-Ivan, of Connellsville, Tabitha M. Ivan of Bridgeville and Lt. Dennis J. Ivan, U.S. Marine Corps of Moorehead City, N.C.; two grandchildren, Alexandra Sjoberg-Perrone and Michael J. Perrone; and one brother, William K. Miller and his wife, Carol, of Cleveland, Ohio. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, where a memorial service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Frank Lesniowski officiating. Interment will be in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.
William H. Snyder

William "Bill" H. Snyder, 47, of Connellsville, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at home. He was born Dec. 27, 1953, in Connellsville, the son of Alberta (Firmstone) Snyder and the late Kenneth D. Snyder Sr. He was a graduate of Connellsville High School Class of 1971. For many years, Bill worked as the owner and operator of his construction company, Snyder Construction. He was a member of the Connellsville Eagles Club, the Knights of Columbus and the K of C Dartball League. He was also an avid hunter. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Jason Snyder and companion Jada Huey, both of Champion; a grandson, Kody D. Snyder of Champion; a brother, Kenneth D. Snyder Jr. and wife Becky of Connellsville; two sisters, Cheryl L. (Snyder) Maceyak and husband Thomas of Scottdale and Jane Ann (Snyder) McFadden and husband Curt of Mount Pleasant; two nephews, Brian Maceyak and Tyler McFadden; and a niece, Miki Ann Snyder. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a niece, Kelli Maceyak-DZambo. Friends were received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 N. Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. and Monday 9 to 10 a.m., the hour of the funeral service with the Rev. Ray Keefer officiating. Dale Franklin Whipkey

Dale Franklin Whipkey, 80, of Connellsville, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at his home. He was born Oct 20, 1921, in Connellsville, a son of the late Jess F. and Edith Mae Detwiler Whipkey. Dale was a life-long resident of Connellsville and was a graduate of Connellsville High School. Early on he was employed by Anchor Hocking and later retired from the West Penn Power Company, where he worked as an inventory clerk on the West Side of Connellsville. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force. He also formerly attended Faith Bible Church in Connellsville. Dale was an avid walker and liked taking in the scenery and wildlife. His favorite hobbies were gardening and raising birds. He is survived by a son, Douglas A. Whipkey and his wife, Barbara, of Greensburg; three grandchildren, Douglas Whipkey Jr., of Greensburg, Jessie and Lisa Whipkey, both of Massachusetts; four sisters, Helen Cupp and her husband, Arnold, of Uniontown, Ruth Herbert and JoAnn Soltis, both of Connellsville, and Janice Hudock Dunaway and her husband, Gilbert, of Dunbar Township; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Cecelia Borish Whipkey in 1973; a brother, Robert W. Whipkey; and a sister, Betty Robbins. Family and friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery, Leisenring. Military rites will be conducted at the Cemetery.

Emma Jane Pringle, 83, of Dawson, died Friday, June 7, 2002, in Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. Friends will be received in the RALPH E. GALLEY FUNERAL HOME, Dawson, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday until 1 p.m., the hour of the service there, with officiating minister, the Rev. Tate Fulton. Laura V. Smith Geska, 86, of RD #1 Scottdale, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon, June 10, 2002, in Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant. She was born April 21, 1916, in Scottdale, a daughter of the late Lorenzo W. and Hannah Bodenheimer Smith. Laura was a longtime member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Scottdale. She was also a member of the Scottdale Senior Citizens Organization. Laura leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Allen Richard Geska and his wife, Barbara, of RD #1 Scottdale; her daughter, Joyce Ann Wells and her husband, Jack, of RD #1 Scottdale, with whom she resided; seven grandchildren, Kathy Ansell, David Geska, Linda Stonebreaker and Joseph Wells, all of Scottdale, Marcie Baumann of Bear Rocks, Rebecca Lauffer of Ruffsdale and Russell Wells of Mount Pleasant; 19 great-grandchildren; her brother, Vernon Richard Smith and his wife, Gladys, of Mount Pleasant; and a niece, Cindy Brown, and her husband, James, of Murrysville. In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Geska, who died March 24, 1975. Laura's family will greet friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Mary Ellen Frederick, 77, of Connellsville, died peacefully on Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, in her home. She was born March 18, 1925, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy Pitzer Kuhn. Prior to retirement, Mary Ellen was a cafeteria worker at the Connellsville Area Senior High School and most recently worked as an aide at the Countryside Rest Personal Care Home. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Connellsville. Mary Ellen is survived by her loving family: three daughters, Eileen Herbert and husband, William, Linda Odroneic and Beverly Marsinko and her husband, Steve, all of Connellsville; four sons, Ronald E. Frederick and his wife, Anita, of Scottdale, Rodney E. Frederick and his wife, Tina, of Connellsville, Richard K. Frederick of Pittsburgh and Staff Sgt. Raymond W. Frederick and his wife, Tammy, of Fort Benning, Ga.; and 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Odroneic Blout, Edward and Amy Herbert, Ron, Rob and Renee Frederick, Steven, Christopher and Justin Marsinko, Kylie and Connor Frederick and Michael Casey III. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Frederick, in 1991; and a son, Ryan Frederick.
