Dale P. Gallagher, 82 of Connellsville, (Bullskin Twp.) died unexpectedly Friday, April 7, 2006 at his home. He was born March 15, 1924 in Connellsville a son of the late Charles P. and Frances Elizabeth Paul Gallagher. Dale was a longtime resident of Bullskin Twp. and was a graduate of Connellsville High School. Earlier in his life Dale had worked as a Printer, first for the Connellsville Daily Courier for many years and later for the Herald and News Newspaper in Klamath Falls, Oregon. He also worked, as a Truck Driver for the General Delivery Co. Dale was Protestant by faith. Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hunting and gathering Ginseng. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving family, his children Charles Patrick Gallagher and his wife Anna of Klamath Falls OR, Cindy Michelle Welsh and her husband Daniel of Connellsville, and David Dwight Gallagher and his significant other Mary Ann Jacobs of Connellsville. Dale was a special and devoted grandfather. He was dearly loved by his wonderful grandchildren Brandon P. Gallagher and his wife Jennifer of Eugene OR, Brian M. Gallagher and his wife Laney of Klamath OR, Karly M. Glogowski and her husband Mike of Corvallis OR, and Erin M. Welsh, Daniel P. Welsh, and Eric H. Gallagher all of Connellsville. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Hunter, Haley, Holden, and Brooke Marie Gallagher. Dale was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents Dale was predeceased by his wife Nellie F. Means Gallagher in 2001, 2 sisters Virginia McGuinness and Barbara Jane Gallagher, and 3 brothers Richard S., James A., and Charles Morgan Gallagher. Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Thursday, April 13, 2006 in the Brooks Funeral Home Inc. 111 E. Green St. Connellsville, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Joseph Wingrove Jr. officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.

Dale W. Sleasman,85, of R.R. #7 Mount Pleasant, formerly of Champion died Wednesday September 17, 2003 in Hempfield Manor, Hempfield Twp. He was born July 25, 1918 in Indian Head a son of the late Grover C. Sleasman, who died in 1973 and the late Ada K. Channing Sleasman, who died in 1992. Mr. Sleasman formerly worked for WPA as a timekeeper and he worked for 30 years for the Pennsylvania ( Penn Central) Railroad, as a carpenter. Dale was an avid coin collector and checker player and he had a green thumb. He attended the County Line Church of the Brethren. He is survived by one daughter, Dalene L. Pritts and her husband Eldin P. of Mount Pleasant; six grandchildren, Keith Pritts and his wife B. Sue of Scottdale, Kevin Pritts and his wife Tanya of Connellsville, Kelly Pritts of Mount Pleasant, Tawna Lord of Colorado, Steve Johnson and his wife Maureen of New Mexico and Scott Johnson and his wife Dolly of Texas; 10 great grandchildren; three brothers, Carl E. Sleasman and his wife Evangeline of Indian Head, Franklin R. Sleasman and his wife Janis of Manchester, N.H. and Earl M. Sleasman and his wife Donna of Altoona; one sister, Ruth P. Francisco and her husband Jack of Findlay, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sons, Eugene D. Johnson and Harry G. Sleasman and two brothers, Glenn and Merle Sleasman. Funeral services will be private with interment in the Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Saltlick Twp. David Doral Lopes,51, of Mount Pleasant died Sunday September 14, 2003 at this home. He was born August 4, 1952 in Connellsville a son of the late Vernon and Mary Deneen Lopes. Mr. Lopes was formerly employed at Lenox of Mount Pleasant. He was a social member of the Mount Pleasant American Legion and a member of the BPO Elks #868 of Mount Pleasant. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Lopes; two sons, Curt Lopes of Alverton and Brian Lopes and his wife Margaret of Allentown; one brother, Kim Robert Lopes of Mount Pleasant and one sister, Beverly Lopes. There will be no public viewing or services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., 406 E. Washington St., Mount Pleasant.

Dolly I. Prinkey, 81 of Normalville, passed away unexpectedly, Fri. April 28, 2006 in the Highland Hospital, Connellsville.
She was born Nov. 24,1924 in White a daughter of the late George and Louella Sanner Fulton.
Prior to her retirement Dolly worked in Housekeeping for Seven Springs Mountain Resort and later for Specht Plastic in Somerset for 14 years. She was a member of the Normalville U.M. Church but had been attending the Critchfield Christian & Missionary Alliance Church.
Dolly is survived by her loving family, her daughter Shirley Nicholson of Normalville, her grandsons Vernon Nicholson and his fiancée Crystal of Normalville and Rocky Nicholson and his girl friend Rae of Ruffsdale, her great granddaughters Stacy, Randi, and Becky Nicholson all of Shanksville, and her great grandson Andy Bigam of Normalville, her brother Simon Fulton of Washington KS. and her sister Doloris Miller and her husband Ray of Acme, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dolly, was predeceased by her husband George V. Prinkey in 1989, a son Roy V. Prinkey, a sister June Prinkey, and 3 brothers Earl, Marshall, and Henry Fulton.
Family and friends will be received from 2-9 PM Mon. in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., route 711 Melcroft, where a funeral service will be held Tue. at 1:00 PM., with Rev. Thomas Milford officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Normalville Cemetery.

Dominic L. DeDonato,82, of Acme, Pa. died Sunday August 3, 2003 in Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant. He was born July 28, 1921 in Palena, Italy the son of the late Antonio and Rosina Mouchetti DeDonato. Mr. DeDonato was a graduate of McKeesport High School, Class of 1939. He was retired from the U.S. Steel Fairless Works in Morrisville, Pa. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during W.W. II as a Tech Sergeant in the 290th FAOB. Serving in the European Theatre of Operations he was the recipient of the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the VFW Post 3368 of Mount Pleasant and was a member of the Friday Morning Bowling League. He was also a member of St. Raymond of the Mountains Roman Catholic Church, Donegal, where he formerly served as an organist for several years. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Carmella Scuilli. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Agnes B. Miller DeDonato; one son, David M. DeDonato and his wife Ann K. of Lexington, S.C.; two grandchildren, Sean DeDonato of Augusta, Ga. and Martha Rawls and her husband Kenneth of West Columbia, S.C.; two great grandchildren, Marrett and Lauren Rawls; and two sisters, Edith Vallorani and her husband Eugene of Liberty Borough and Anna Muretisch and her husband William of Bethel Park. Friends will be received from 2-4,7-9 P.M. Tuesday in the Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., 406 E. Washington St., Mount Pleasant. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in St. Raymond of the Mountains R.C. Church, Donegal with Rev. John Harrold as celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery Mausoleum. Military Rites will be conducted at the Cemetery by the VFW Post 3368 of Mount Pleasant. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Raymond of the Mountains R.C. Donald G. Ludwig, Sr., 77, of Connellsville died Tuesday November 11, 2003 at his home. He was born October 18, 1926 in Dunbar Twp., a son of the late Edward F. and Bertha Lindeman Ludwig. Don was a retired operating engineer and was a member of Union Local #66 from which he received his 50 year membership pin in April 2002. He was highly regarded for his mechanical abilities. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Don was a devoted husband and father and he maintained his sense of humor until the end. He was protestant by faith. He is survived by his sons and daughters: Agatha "Snook" Keefer and her husband Frank of Acme, Joseph Ernesty of Fayetteville, N.C., John "Jack" Ernesty of Connellsville, Vicki Batta of Connellsville, Donna Karwatsky and her husband David of Connellsville and Donald Ludwig, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Dunbar Twp.; 10 grandchildren, Donald Keefer, Michael, David and Donald Ernesty, Samantha Shoemaker, Kelly, Brian and Kristen Karwatsky and Yvonne and Donald Ludwig III; six great grandchildren, Tia,Joey, Peyton and Tyler Ernesty and Hailey and Billy Shoemaker; one brother, John Ludwig of Dawson and two sisters, Phoebe George of Dunbar, Twp and Ruth Lucas of Connellsville. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Virginia R. Dora K. Shipley, 83 of Connellsville, (Bullskin Twp.) died Sun. May 16, 2004 in the Highlands Hospital, Connellsville.
She was born Oct 7,1920, in Coal Center, Washington County, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Dora R. Keith Anderson.
Dora was a resident of Connellsville for most of her life. She was a graduate of Connellsville High School. Dora was a member of the First Baptist Church in Connellsville and it's E.M. Snyder Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Bullskin Twp. Senior Citizens Center.
Dora is survived by her loving children Earl Shipley and his girlfriend Cindy Wilkins of Vanderbilt, Vickey Kremposky and her husband Matthew of Lemont Furnace, and Vanessa Massey and her husband Steven of Riverside RI., 10 grandchildren Dennis McKnight of Donora, Joelle Lilly of Monessen, Robin McKnight of Donora, Sandi Shipley of Connellsville, Chevonne, Alicia, and Joshua Kremposky all of Lemont Furnace, Andrew and Paul Massey both of Riverside RI., and Mason Shipley of Vanderbilt. Dora was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Eugene S. Shipley in 1993, a daughter Jennifer McKnight, 2 infant sons, a grandson Jonathan Kremposky, 2 sisters Lillian Winkler and Dorothy Whitehead, and 3 brothers Charles, John E., and James Tracy Anderson.

Dorothy Madelyn Schmitz, 89 of Uniontown, formerly of Connellsville, died Thur. Sept. 26, 2002 in the LaFayette Manor,Uniontown.
She was born Dec. 15,1912 in Connellsville a daughter of the late Frank B. and Laura Schuster Workman.
Dorothy was a life long resident of Connellsville. She had formerly worked as a Clerk for the former John Kestner Book Store in Connellsville and McCrory's Five and Ten Store in Connellsville. She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Connellsville and was a 50 year member of the Win One Class at church. She was also a former member of the Edna Rebekah Lodge #32.
She is survived by her niece Alice Keffer of Dawson RD and her nephews F.T. Holt of Elyria OH. and Donald Holt of FL., and a number of great nieces and nephews, and her sister Hazel Workman Sisley of Dawson RD.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband John A.Schmitz.
Family and friends will be received in the Brooks Funeral Home Inc. 111 E. Green St. Connellsville on Fri. from 3-5 and 7-9 PM. E. Mason Whipkey, 92, of Easy Living Estates, Hunker, PA, formerly of Connellsville, entered Life Eternal on Sunday, September 21, 2003 at the Westmoreland Manor.
He was born March 13, 1911, in Connellsville, the son of the late William Linley and Goldie Mason Whipkey. He was a lifelong member of The Otterbein United Methodist Church where he was a very active member. He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks # 503 of Connellsville. He graduated from The Connellsville High School in 1928 and was employed as a contractor by The W.L. Whipkey Lumber Co., a long time Connellsville business.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mildred Stickel Whipkey, whom he married on January 10, 1936; a daughter, Kay Hassinger, and her husband, Dale, of Greensburg; two grandchildren, Debra Hassinger Madia, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Cary, NC and Robert E. Hassinger, and his wife, Terri, of Virginia Beach, VA; five great grandchildren, Marisa, Kayla, Chance, Kyle, and Bret; a sister, Ruth Marietta McNulty; a brother-in-law, Karl Stickel, both of Connellsville and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no viewing or visitation. Friends and relatives will be received in The Otterbein United Methodist Church, 201, Lincoln Avenue, Connellsville, on Saturday, September 27, 2003 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at which time a memorial service will be held in the church with Rev. Edna Mae Halfhill, 70 of Connellsville, died unexpectedly, Saturday, September 20, 2003 in the Lee Hospital Johnstown.
She was born May 30,1933 in Antigo Wisconsin a daughter of the late Earl and Marie Fuchs Taylor.
Edna Mae was a graduate of the Antigo High School in Wisconsin. She has been a resident of Connellsville since 1953. She was a loving homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. Edna Mae was a member of the Tetelestai Church in Oakmont PA. She was also a former member of the Connellsville Garden Club and the Golden Girls Bowling Club.
Edna Mae is survived by her loving husband Earl Halfhill Jr. with whom she would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Dec. 7,2003, 3 daughters Carol Halfhill of Sioux Falls South Dakota, Cathy Crabtree and her husband Duane of Scottdale, and Sally Gordon and her husband Robert H. III of Belsano PA., a son James Halfhill and his wife Deborah Rauf of Rockwood, 4 grandchildren Andrew and Adam Crabtree of Scottdale, Matthew Halfhill of Alabama, and Collin Keating of South Dakota, and a brother Myron Taylor of Antigo Wisconsin.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother Ward Taylor and a sister Gertrude Smith.
Family and friends will be received in the Brooks Funeral Home Inc. 111 E. Green St. Connellsville Tue. from 2-9 PM. A funeral service will be held Wed. at 11:00 AM, in the funeral home, with Pastor Alan R. Knapp officiating. Interment will be private. Edward A. "Edju" Kapelewski, 67, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, June 2, 2003, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born February 16, 1936, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late John Sr. and Helen (Nitkiewicz) Kapelewski. Edju was formerly employed by Glick Packing Co. in Mt. Pleasant, had worked for the Permali Corp for many years, and worked as a bartender at the Scottdale Eagles for several years. He was a member and past president of the Kosciuszko Club and the Polish Falcons, both in Mt. Pleasant, and was an avid gardener, hunter, and fisherman. He was a member of Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was predeceded in death by a brother, John Kapelewski; a sister, Beatrice Watkins; an infant brother; and two infant sisters. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Czekaj) Kapelewski; four children, Thomas Kapelewski and his wife, Gina, and their children, Matthew and Scott, of Bloomsburg, Joseph Kapelewski and his wife, Brenda, and their children, Louise, Andrew, and Mary, of Richmond, VA, Suzy Weaver, and her husband, Jim, and their children, James and Emily, of Greensburg, and Edward Kapelewski Jr., and his wife, Cheryl, of Greensburg; Edju's faithful pet dog, Calvin; three sisters, Jean Stypula, of Jeannette, Helen Carr, of New York, and Ann Petri, of Cherry Hill, NJ. Mr. Summy was a graduate of the former Ramsay High School. He was a former employee of the Westland Dairy Co., later United Dairy. He was a member of the Worldwide Church of God. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Maxine Craig. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jane Strohm Summy; five children, Kathy Valenti and her husband Joseph of Cheswick, Dan Summy and his wife Jeanne of Mingo Junction, Ohio, Jill Harris and her husband Paul of Westerville, Ohio, Scott Summy and his wife Dessa of Connellsville and Timothy Summy and his wife Susan of Connellsville; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Summy and Marlene Silk, both of Mount Pleasant; four brothers, Charles Summy and his wife Helen of Mount Pleasant, Homer Summy and his wife Shelly of Aliquippa, William Summy and his wife Kathy of Atwater, Ohio and Wendell Summy and his wife Eva of Mount Pleasant and a brother-in-law, Glenn Craig of Ruffsdale. Edward G. Steiner,76, of Millersburg, Pa. formerly of Mount Pleasant, Pa. died Tuesday March 19, 2002 in the Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg. He was born September 28, 1925 in Mount Pleasant a son of the late Frank and Christine Jones Steiner. Mr. Steiner was a graduate of the former Ramsay High School and he was employed at the U.S. Steel Edgar Thompson Works in Braddock were he was employed for 39 years. He was a veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion, both of Mount Pleasant and he was a member of the Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Millersburg and was a former member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mount Pleasant. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by three brothers, infant brother Frank Steiner, Jr. and Francis and Regis Steiner and two sisters, Dorothy Young and Cecelia Smelko. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Poklembo Steiner; one son Robert Steiner and his wife Eleanor of Millersburg; two daughters, Donna Leonard of Uniontown and Marlene Hillenbrand and her husband Ray of North Hills; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2-4, 7-9 P.M. Friday in the Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., 406 E. Washington St., Mount Pleasant. A Blessing Srevice will be held Saturday at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in the Transfiguration R.C. Church, Mount Pleasant with Rev. Michael Matusak as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Pius X Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the V.F.W. and American Legion Honor Guard. A parish Wake Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday in the funeral home.

Edward H. Fogle, 88, of Connellsville died peacefully Fri. March 25,2005 at his place of residence.
He was born March,30,1916 in Connellsville a son of the late Adam and Gertrude Alderson Fogle. Ed attended Waynesburg College. Prior to his retirement he worked as a Salesman for the former Swan's Furniture and Appliance Store in Connellsville. He had also worked for the B.F. Goodrich Co. as a Budget Supervisor for 10 years. He was a highly decorated Veteran of WW II where he served as a Staff Sergeant in the 939th Field Artillery Battalion in the African and European Theatres. He was the recipient of many medals including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Efficiency-Honor-Fidelity Medal, Army of Occupation of Germany, WW II Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign, American Campaign, and American Defense Medal. He also received the French Croix De Guerre for support of French Troops. Ed fought in 5 major battles, 3 in Italy, 1 in France, and 1 in Germany. He was a life member and past Senior Vice Commander of the Disabled American Veterans and a life member and past Senior Vice Commander of the Order of the Purple Heart and he was a member of the Connellsville VFW #21. Ed was Protestant by faith.
Ed is survived by his loving daughter Dayne Eichner and her husband James W. of Connellsville, his grandchildren Julie, Pamela, and Paul Eichner all of Connellsville, his brother Donald Fogle and his wife Lillian of Connellsville and his sister Barbara Sweda and her husband Adam of Memphis TN.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife June W. Whipkey Fogle and a sister Frances Balsley.
Family and friends will be received in the Brooks Funeral Home Inc. 111 E. Green St. Connellsville Sat. from 7-9 PM and Easter Sun. from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held Mon. at 1:00 PM, in the funeral home, with Pastor Allen R. Knapp officiating. Military rites will then be accorded in the funeral home, by the Connellsville VFW and American Legion and Trotter American Legion Honor Guard. A committal service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.
