Eleanor M. Pilla, 81, of Alliance, Ohio, formerly of Connellsville, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, in the McCrea Manor, Alliance, Ohio. She was born Sept. 27, 1924, in Morrell, Fayette County, a daughter of the late John and Kathryn Snyder Sklenar. Eleanor was a graduate of the former Dunbar Township High School with the Class of 1942. Earlier in her life she worked for nine years for the Anchor Hocking Corp. in South Connellsville. She then worked as a beautician at her own beauty shop for 37 years. She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Connellsville and its Lois Circle. While living in Ohio, she attended the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Alliance with her pastor being Dean Lewis. She belonged to the Esther Circle there and was a volunteer at the Alliance Community Hospital. Eleanor is survived by her loving sons, George F. Pilla and his wife, Linda, and John Pilla, all of Alliance, Ohio; her grandchildren, Shana Baum and her husband, Justin, Ryan Pilla and his wife, Melissa, and Eric and J.P. Pilla; and her great-grandsons, Tyler and Mario Pilla. She is also survived by a niece, Ruthann Dziedzicki, and several other nieces and nephews. Eleanor was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, George A. Pilla on Aug. 17, 1990, and by three brothers, Paul, John and Alex Sklenar, and a sister, Helen Nebraska.Family and friends will be received from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, where a prayer will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by a funeral service in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Connellsville, with the Rev. Philip Ramstad officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Eleanor M. Pilla.

Eleanor Marie "Betty" Bernardo,77, of Connellsville died Sunday September 21, 2003 in Manor Care, Greentree. She was born March 10, 1926 in Rockwood a daughter of the late Ross and Edith Imel Bird. Mrs. Bernardo was a graduate of Connellsville High School. She was a member of the Connellsville Garden Club and a member of St. Rita's Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Androstic and her husband George of Mount Pleasant; one son, William V. Bernardo, Jr. and his wife Amy of Brentwood; two grandsons, Luke and Adam Bernardo; one sister, Nancy Shimshock and her husband William of Greenville, Pa. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, William V. Bernardo, Sr.; one brother, Ronald Bird and one sister, Lorraine Rulli. A Blessing Service will be held Wednesday in the Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville at 9:30 A.M. followed by Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Rita's R.C. Eleanor Strickler Turner, 86,of Everson, formerly of Connellsville, died Mon. April 14,2003 in Carla's Personal Care Home, Everson.
She was born Nov. 2,1916 in Coalbrook, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Agnes Swink Strickler Sr.
Eleanor was a longtime resident of Connellsville and a graduate of Connellsville High School. She was a member of the Central Fellowship Church in Connellsville and it's Ladies Circle.
Eleanor is survived by her nephew Randy Strickler and his wife Linda of Connellsville and her great niece and nephew Briana and Brian Strickler both of Connellsville, and her sister-in law Helen Strickler of South Connellsville.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Alva C. Turner, a sister Thelma Elizabeth Strickler and a brother Charles E. Strickler Jr.
Family and friends will be received in the Brooks Funeral Home Inc. 111 E. Green St. Connellsville, Wed. from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Elizabeth E. "Libby" Virgile Beeson, 82, of Connellsville died Thur. July 31,2003 in Connellsville at the home of her sister Rose Randall, who was caring for her.
She was born July 24,1921 in Wheeler, a daughter of the late Domenick and Mary Grenaldo Virgile.
Libby was a life long resident of Connellsville. She was a graduate of the former Dunbar Twp. High School with the class of 1939. She was also a graduate of the Maison Fredrick Beauty School in Pittsburgh. Prior to her retirement in 1983, Libby, along with her late husband William C. Beeson, was the owner and operator of the Connellsville Credit Bureau. Libby also worked for several years in the office for the Anchor Hocking Corp. Cap Plant in South Connellsville. She was a member of St.Rita's Roman Catholic Church in Connellsville and the Pleasant Valley Country Club. Libby was an avid Bridge Player and was very active in the Bridge Club at Pleasant Valley.On March 12, 2003 Libby was honored with an appreciation luncheon held at Pleasant Valley Country Club for all of her hard work and dedication to the Bridge Club.
Libby is survived by 3 sisters Mary Grimm and Rose Randall and her husband Ed. all of Connellsville, and LaVern Ramser and her husband Russell "Bud' of Alliance OH., and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband William C. Beeson in 1983, a daughter Nancy Zimmerman, 3 brothers Pasquale "Patsy" Virgile, Joseph F. Virgillo, and Anthony D."Duke" Virgile, and 4 sisters Margaret Isola, Rita Check, Adeline Coppolo, and Jane Mongell.

Elizabeth M. "Betty" Phillipi, 85, of Connellsville died Monday September 29, 2003 in Orion Assisted Living, Allison Park, Pa. She was born July 29, 1918 in Broadford a daughter of the late Mark and Edna Blocker McDonald. Mrs. Phillipi was a graduate of the former Dunbar Twp. High School and a graduate of Grove City College. She was employed as a school teacher for many years by the Southmoreland School District. She was a member of the PSEA, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Catholic BPW. She was also a long time member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville. She is survived by one son, Robert Phillipi and his wife Patty of Pittsburgh; one daughter, Betsy Richardson and her husband Edward of San Francisco, CA; seven grandchildren and one sister, Eleanor Reilly of Pittsburgh. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Charles H. Phillipi and one brother, Robert McDonald. Friends will be received from 7-9 P.M. Wednesday and 2-4,7-9 P.M. Thursday in the Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville. Elizabeth M. Verostko, 75, of Tarrs, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at her home. She was born August 13, 1926, in Jeannette, the daughter of the late Wasil and Helen Miller Pyren. Mrs. Verostko was a member of the Visitation Roman Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant and she was a 1944 graduate of Jeannette High School.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, William David Verostko in 1998and brothers, Steve, Max, Philip, Ted, and Wesley Pyren.
She is survived by her husband, William D. Verostko; sisters, Mrs. Mary Krupey, of Grapeville and Mrs. Helen St. Pierre, of Manchester, NH; children, Mrs. Mary Edwards, and her husband Jeff, of Dayton, OH, Elizabeth Verostko and her husband, Michael DiCamillo of Orlando, FL, Michelle Verostko of Lafayette CO, Philip Verostko, and his wife, Patricia of Tarrs, Paul Verostko and his wife Wendy, of Ruffsdale, Mrs. Barbara Martin and her husband, Bryan, of Hagerstown, MD, and Lara Verostko, of Washington, D.C.; Grandchildren, Dominique DiCamillo, Mrs. Nina Mulnix and her husband, Michael, Philip Verostko, Benjamin Martin, Jeremy Martin, Elliot Martin, and Nicholas Martin; and great granddaughter, Kylie Mulnix. She will be missed.

She was employed by the Daily Courier of Connellsville for seventeen years as an Inserter. Mrs. Armstrong was a member of the Albright United Methodist Church of South Connellsville where she was a choir member. She is survived by 2 daughters, Marylee Smith, and her husband, Donald, of Connellsville, and Janice Prolenski, of S. Connellsville; 2 sons, Thomas D. Armstrong, and his wife, Donna, of Connellsville, and Gary D. Armstrong and his wife, Lonnie, of South Connellsville; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, John W. Elmer W. Snyder, 91 of Normalville, died Tuesday, November 25, 2003 in Scottdale Manor Rehabilitation Center, East Huntingdon Twp.
He was born November 8,1912 in Normalville a son of the late Wesley and Harriet Ann Murray Snyder.
Elmer was a life long resident of Normalville. Prior to his retirement he worked as a Coal Miner for the U.S. Steel Co. in several different area mines. He was a member of the Normalville United Methodist Church. Elmer also enjoyed farming.
Elmer is survived by 4 loving daughters Mrs. Betty Biler and her husband Joseph of Normalville, Mrs. Margaret O'Brien of Macedonia OH., Mrs. Ann Kinneer and her husband Gerald Sr. of Acme, and Mrs. Helen Kay Porterfield and her husband John of Normalville, 10 grandchildren Brenda and Joanne Biler, Phillip, John, and Mary Ann O'Brien, Gerald Jr., Robert, Deborah, and James Kinneer, and John Porterfield, and 8 great grandchildren. Elmer was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Mary M. Prinkey Snyder in 2002, a son -in-law Phillip O'Brien, 4 brothers Jacob, Ralph, George, and Thomas Snyder, and 2 sisters Laura Shaw and Lucy Brooks Terry, and 2 infant sisters.

Elsley Keith Witt Sr., 83, of Connellsville, Pa., passed away Friday, May 14, 2004. Loving husband, father, brother and friend, he was born in Connellsville, Pa., October 21, 1920, the third child of Ralph Clark Witt and Rella Schlichter Witt. A Veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Army as an Ordnance Officer in the European Theatre, and in the Army Reserves, Quartermaster Corps, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1980.
He graduated from Connellsville High School Class of 1938 and was a 1949 Honors graduate of Otterbein College, Westerville, Ohio. He held a Masters of Education degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He taught history and science at Connellsville Junior High School from 1949 until 1960. He then moved to Westerville, Ohio, where he was Director of Financial Aid and Testing at Otterbein College until his retirement in 1976. He was an active long-time member of Otterbein United Methodist Church as well as a Sunday School Teacher and Trustee. He was a leader of the Building Committee during the 1958 reconstruction and expansion of the church. He is survived by his dear wife of 54 years, Margaret Macrum Witt; daughter, Janet E. Witt; sons, Elsley Keith Witt Jr. and wife Diane of Melbourne, Florida, D. Kevin Witt and wife Donna of Sidney, Ohio, T. Kent Witt and wife Jane Anne also of Sidney, Ohio, and R. Kerry Witt and wife Sherry of Indian Head, Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren: Christine, Kent Jr., Kyle, Laura, Katy, Kelly, Elsley Keith III, Megan, Amy, Elizabeth, Kevin Jr., Addie and Zachary. He is also survived by sisters Dorothy Reagan and Candis Snyder both of Connellsville and brothers Ralph of Connellsville and Graydon of McKeesport, Pa. He was predeceased by brothers Dale, Melvin and Vernon, and his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held in OTTERBEIN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Connellsville, on Saturday, May 22, at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Elmer Reamer officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Otterbein United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 201 Lincoln Avenue, Connellsville, Pennsylvania 15425. Eric Russell Dunaway,23, of Acme died Wednesday September 14, 2005 as a result of injuries sustained in an accident. He was born January 22, 1982 in Des Moines, Iowa a son of Rev. Russell E. and Connie S. Welch Dunaway of Acme. Eric was a graduate of Mount Pleasant Area High School, Class of 2000. He was employed by the Old Glory Corporation. Eric had an extreme love of the wild and the wilderness and he loved hunting and fishing. He loved helping people and spread his spirit of excitement and adventure to all who knew him. He was a member of the Acme Open Bible Church, where his father is the pastor. In addition to his parents he is survived by one sister, Jamie Radford and her husband Scott of Acme; his special nephew, Simon and his expected niece in the coming months; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Evelyn Welch of Indianapolis, Indiana; his girlfriend, Koleen Grimm and many aunts, uncles, cousins and his many friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Ethel Dunaway. Friends will be received in the Acme Open Bible Church, at the Top of Three Mile Hill, Acme, on Saturday from noon-2 p.m., the hour of a memorial service, in the church with his Dad, Rev. Russell E. She was a life long resident of Acme and was a member of the Elbethal Church of The Brethren at White where she was the Church Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher and Bible School Teacher. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence(Bill) Chearney and on February 24, 2005 they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary, a daughter, Virginia R. White and husband Blaine of Latrobe, a son, Donald J. Florence T. McKitrick, 66 of Connellsville, died Monday, December 1, 2003 at her home while comforted by her loving family.
She was born March 8,1937, in Connellsville a daughter of the late Domineck and Camilla Caporella Marr.
Florence was a resident of Connellsville for most of her life and a graduate of Connellsville High School. She was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as the Postmaster of the West Leisenring Post Office. She was a member of the Fayette County Postmasters Association and the AARP. Florence was a member of St. Rita's Roman Catholic Church in Connellsville.
Florence is survived by her 3 loving children Joseph A. McKitrick and his wife Cynthia of Bethel Park, Keith A. McKitrick and his wife Christine of Elyria OH., and Michael A. McKitrick and his wife Tina of Connellsville, 6 grandchildren, a brother Nick Marr and his Fiancée Alberta Collingwood of Uniontown, and 3 sisters Angeline Marr, Theresa Kerns and her companion Kevin McKlveen, and Rose Manges and her husband Larry all of Connellsville.
Family and friends will be received in the Brooks Funeral Home Inc. 111 E. Green St. Connellsville Wed. from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Blessing Service will be held Thur. at 9:30 AM, in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM, in St. Rita's R.C. Church Connellsville, with Rev. Frank Lesniowski as celebrant. A committal service and interment will follow in St. Rita's Cemetery. A parish wake service will be held Wed. at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society 320 Bilmar Dr.

Freda D. Mauk Overton, 63, of Connellsville died Tuesday, April 25, 2006 in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant. She was born August 10, 1942 in Scottdale a daughter of the late Lance and Amelia Warrick Mauk. Freda was a caregiver for the elderly for many years. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Donald Overton; one daughter, Geneia Mickey; three brothers, Orville, William and George Mauk and one sister, Hazel Richter. She is survived by three children, Colleene Mickey Cochenour and her friend Mark of Mount Pleasant, Nancy Mickey of Dunbar Twp. and Jamie Ruse and her husband Michael of Bay City, Michigan; three step children, Rosezella Canty-Letsome and Evelyn Washington, both of Hyattsville, Md. and Donald Overton of Waukegan, Illinois; four grandchildren, LaFonda Shuler, Demoria Thomas, Justyn Zimmer and her "peanut", Haylie Mickey; four step grandchildren, Dorothy McBride, Erica Washington, Allendra Letsome and Rebecca Letsome and many step great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Mauk and Arlene of Connellsville and James Mauk and his wife Hazel, both of Connellsville and one sister, Shirley Swager of Oklahoma. Garnet L. Mowry, 74, of Indian Head died Friday, April 14, 2006 at her home. She was born November 9, 1931 in Indian Head a daughter of the late Orval Glenn and Edith May Ritenour Shaw. She was a member of the Buchanan Church of God and the Saltlick Twp. Vol. Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a son, Robert Don Mowry; a granddaughter, Tricia Kay Hake; two brothers, Lyman and Calvin Shaw and three sisters, Margaret Lint, Dorothy Shaw and Erma Shaw. She is survived by her husband, Delmer Don "Andy" Mowry; tow daughters, Shirley Smith and her husband Steve of Latrobe and Suzi Trimboli and her husband Mike of White; twelve grandchildren, Lucretia Bossart, Renee Hake, Hilary Deiseroth, Erica, Farrah and Lascey Mowry, Kelly Gearhart, Shane Mowry, Kaylan Trimboli, Robert Mowry and Josh and Fawn; 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Goldie Knupp of Mount Pleasant and one brother, Dwayne Shaw of Phoenix, Ariz. Geneva B. Huffman, 81, of Norvelt, died Thursday, September 25, 2003, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. She was born September 24, 1922 in Mill Run, a daughter of the late Joshua and Delilah Wilkinson Miller. Mrs. Huffman was a graduate of Connellsville High School, Class of 1939 and she was a graduate of the Franklin Business School. She was formerly employed by Sterbutzel Tire Co. of Connellsville and also by Kamps Shoe Store in Latrobe. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Connellsville and a member of the United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harry V. Huffman, Sr., in 1989. She is survived by one son, Harry V. Huffman, Jr., of Norvelt; three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Dillon and Ruth Miller, both of Latrobe, and Sylvia Cupp, of Connellsville; two nephews, John Cupp, and his wife, Emily, of Uniontown and Brian Huffman, and one niece, Brenda Kuhns.
