Eva Jenny Core, 93,of Elco, Pa., died Saturday, December 2, 2000, in the Monongahela Valley Hospital.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law and two daughters and sons-in-law: Lane and Donna Core of Roscoe, Linda and Roy Barli of Dunlevy, Mary Alice and Tony Segzda of Elco, and Norman and Jane Core of New Eagle; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday, December 5, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ed Melenyzer Funeral Homes Inc., Roscoe, Pa.
Mary B. Cottle
Mary B. Cottle, 75, of Grindstone, Pa., died Friday, December 1, 2000, in the Brownsville General Hospital.
She was born on June 28, 1925 in Braznell, Pa., daughter of the late Roy and Nellie Gillan Meese.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Kubina; and a brother, Roy Meese, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, William J. Cottle, Sr.; two children, William J. and wife Faye Cottle, Jr., of Perryopolis, Pa., and Mary Lou and husband Vince Campbell of Belle Vernon, Pa.; four grandchildren: Pamela Renee Williams, Vincent Campbell, William J. Cottle III, and Michael Campbell; two great-grandchildren, Amber Britt and Trevor Jacob Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa. today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Carl Hughes and Rev. George Grimes officiating.
Interment, LaFayette Memorial Park.
James F. Crossland
James F. Crossland, 74, of Long Beach Island, New Jersey, died Saturday, November 18, 2000 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, Pa.
He was an educator and administrator in Pennsylvania schools for 30 years. He was also an accomplished musician and performed with various groups, including the Shriners Temple Band and the Jesters.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois (Swain); two sons, James G. and Eugene C. Crossland; one daughter, Laura Crossland of Allentown, Pa.; and one sister, Charlotte Ghion of Addison, Pa.
A private Memorial Service will be held in December.
Cremation arrangements were by the Cremation Society of Pa. in Harrisburg, Pa.
Claretta M. Ellis
Claretta M. Ellis, 70, of Columbus, Ga., and formerly of Oliphant Furnace, Pa., and the Uniontown area, died Wednesday, November 29, 2000, in St. Frances Hospital, Columbus, Ga.
She was born Jan. 21, 1930, in Oliphant Furnace, Pa., daughter of the late Kent Robinson and Etta Robinson Stubblefield.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Robinson.
Surviving are her husband, Robert "Duke" Ellis of Columbus, Ga., whom she married 45 years ago on Nov. 29, 1955; one son, Robert Ellis Jr., and one granddaughter, Jennifer Ellis, both of Detroit, Mich.; one sister, Barbara Sowell of Detroit, Mich.; one brother, Ronald "Jap" Robinson of Uniontown, Pa.; nieces, nephews, cousins; and many friends, especially those from the Kansas City area.
Friends will be received in the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 E. Main St., Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Robert Crable and Rev. Ron Matthews officiating.

John E. Franko
John E. "Jack" Franko, 66, of Smock, Pa., died on Friday, December 1, 2000 at his home.
He was born on March 8, 1934 in Chestnut Ridge, Pa., a son of Margaret D. (Meosky) Franko of Chestnut Ridge, Pa., and the late John J. Franko.
Mr. Franko was a member of St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church, Smock, Pa.
A graduate of Redstone High School, Class of 1952, he was a local businessman who owned Franko’s Golf Center which he operated for the last 21 years. He was also a golf member at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bernadine (Myers) Franko; five children: Jack Franko and wife Judy of Norvelt, Pa., Greg M. Franko and wife Kathy of Uniontown, Pa., Tami Franko, DDS of St. Petersburg, Fla., Barbara Plovock and husband Thomas of Fairfield, Pa., and Eric Franko and wife Jeanne of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three grandchildren: Greg Franko, Erica Franko, and McKenzie Plovock; two brothers, William M. Franko and wife Audrey of Allentown, Pa., and Mark R.Franko and wife Carol of Burke, Va.; a sister, Kathleen M. Dini and husband John of Greensburg, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in THE HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., 139 West Fayette Street, Uniontown, Pa. today from 12 noon until 9 p.m. and on Monday, December 4, 2000 until 10 a.m., when prayers to transfer the body will be said, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Hedwig R.C. Church with Rev. Fr. John R. Sedlak as main celebrant, and Rev. Fr. Mike Matusak as homolist.
Interment will follow in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Smock, Pa.
Partner parishes of St. Hedwig and St. Cecelia will recite the Parish Rosary today at 4 p.m.
The Parish Wake Service will be held at 8:30 p.m.
Louis J. Gacek Sr.
Louis J. "Louie" Gacek Sr., 79, of Mather, Pa., died Friday, December 1, 2000, in Washington Hospital, Washington, Pa.
Mr. Gacek was a retired coal miner from Mather Collieries and Humphrey No. 7 Mines with 39 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Grasha; a son, Louis J. Gacek Jr. of Wexford; a daughter, Barbara Whatley of Orlando, Fla.; two grandchildren; two brothers, Andrew Gacek of Clarksville and Leopold Gacek of Jefferson; four sisters: Mary Schodowski of Wayside, N.J., Helen Gierczak of Hatley, Wisc., Sophie Kopechessi of Queens, N.Y., and Theresa Mihealsick of Dunlevy; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Behm Funeral Home Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, and on Monday at 9:30 a.m., the hour of service.
Mary Lasko
Mary Lasko, 91, of Centerville Borough, Pa., died Friday, December 1, 2000, at her home.
She was daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Stetz Dorsey, Sr.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lasko; a daughter, Dorothy M. Popovich; brothers, John, Joseph, and Andrew Dorsey, Jr.; and a sister, Pauline Smiell.
Surviving are four sisters: Ann Stishan of Centerville, Pa., Sophie Cavrak of Rices Landing, Pa., Katherine Parshall of Parma, Ohio, and Dorothy Ferenci of Brownsville, Pa.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church in California, Pa. with the Rev. Fr. Mark Skertich as celebrant.
Interment, LaFayette Memorial Park.

Michael C. Leeds
Michael C. Leeds, 53, of Uniontown, Pa., and formerly of Farmington, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2000, in Veterans Hospital, Oakland, Pa.
He was born October 31, 1947 at Mount Washington, Pittsburgh.
Surviving are his wife, Bernadetta Myers Leeds: two children, Faith Rose and husband Jeff, and Michael Leeds and wife Courtney, all of St. Louis, Mo.; three grandchildren: Benjamin, Brandon, and Kyle; and two stepdaughters, Dawn Helms at home, and Bernadette Long of Laurel, Md.; and several brothers and sisters.
Michael was a member of the New Life Covenant Church of Markleysburg.
He had been employed with the B.&O. Railroad for 20 years, and had served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a long-standing member of AA and AN and was one of the founders of the Tradition One Club.
Friends were received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, FARMINGTON on Saturday and will be received today in the New Life Covenant Church, Route 40, Markleysburg, from 2 until 3 p.m., the hour of the service, with Rev. Jerry Steele, his Pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in Sansom Chapel Cemetery.

Eunice F. Moore
Eunice F. Moore, 92, of Ohiopyle, Pa., died Friday, December 1, 2000 at Kamp’s Personal Care Home, Markleysburg, Pa.
She was born June 16, 1908, in Sand Patch, Pa., daughter of the late William S. and Estella G. Glotfelty Rafferty.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Clyde E. Moore; a grandson, Forrest Steven Meyers; and a sister, Ruth R. Rafferty.
She is survived by a son, William W. Moore of Hopwood; a daughter, Clyeen E. "Sue" Moore of Ohiopyle; five grandchildren: David W. Moore, Joni S. Hitchins, Jon C. Moore, Deborah L. Meyers-Greer, and Kelly M. Meyers; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Willard S. Rafferty of Sun City, Ariz.; and a sister, Lois M. Lemley of Somerset, Pa.
She was a 1928 graduate of Connellsville High School and a 1931 graduate of Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing; a member and past Regent of Great Crossings Chapter DAR of Addison, the Connellsville Area Historical Society, a charter member of Pioneer Crafts Counsel (now Touchstone), the Mountain Citizens Action Group, a charter member of Old Petersburg-Addison Historical Society, and a member of Falls City Baptist Church of Ohiopyle.
Along with her husband, she was instrumental in obtaining recognition of the Addison Toll House for placement on the National Register of Historic Landmarks.
Friends will be received at the HUMBERT FUNERAL HOME, Confluence, Pa. today from 2 to 9 p.m. and Monday 9 to 10 a.m., the hour of service, with Rev. James Smiley officiating.
Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
