Dewey H. Chalfant
Dewey H. Chalfant, 74, of Brownstown, Fayette City, Pa., died Saturday, September 29, 2001, in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc., Carroll Township, Washington County, Pa.
He is survived by his children: Chad Chalfant and his wife, Liz, and Darlene Chalfant Granato and her husband, Ron Granato, all of Indiana state, Jean Chalfant Yannacci, Janet Chalfant, Denise Chalfant Moriarity and Aggie Chalfant all of Fayette City, Pa.; brothers: William Chalfant of Follansbee, West Virginia, and Robert Lee Chalfant of Weirton, West Virginia; sisters: Isabell Chalfant Metzger of Wellsburg, West Virginia, and Jean Chalfant Vastartis of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren: Chad Chalfant and Kellee Chalfant, Chad Granato, Todd Granato, Brian Granato, Gina Moriarity, Amber Hricko, Laura Krajzel and Tyler Krajzel; and four great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Eley-McCrory Funeral Home Inc., 334 Main Street, Fayette City, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday, October 3, until 11 am.
Thomas R. Clingan
Thomas R. Clingan, 48, of Mountain View Drive, Scottdale, Pa., died Sunday morning, September 30, 2001, in Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant.
Tom was born in Swindon, England, August 6, 1953, a son of Orrin "Rock" Clingan Jr. and Marjorie Sue Weaver Clingan of Uniontown, Pa.
He was a longtime member of Calvin United Presbyterian Church in Scottdale.
Prior to his illness, Tom had been employed as a Manufacturing Production Supervisor and Quality Control Technician for Foseco Incorporated of Mount Braddock, Pa., with 20 years service.
Tom was a graduate of Uniontown High School Class of 1971 and also a graduate of California University of Pennsylvania Class of 1975.
Tom was a longtime member of the Parks and Recreation Commission for the Borough of Scottdale.
He had previously been very active as Coach and past President of the Scottdale Soccer Club.
He also coached the Southmoreland Recreation Baseball League and coached basketball for Central Christian Church, Uniontown, in the Y.M.C.A. League.
He was a social member of the Scottdale V.F.W. Post 7781.
In addition to his parents, Orrin "Rock" Clingan Jr. and Marjorie Sue Weaver Clingan of Uniontown, Pa., Tom is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 27 years, Kathleen A. Geary Clingan, whom he married August 31, 1974.
His memories will be cherished by his two children: his daughter, Amber L. Clingan, a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, Pa.; his son, Brad T. Clingan at home; his two brothers: James C. Clingan and his wife, Patricia, and their son, Alexander, of Fort Worth, Texas, and William O. Clingan of Uniontown, Pa.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis M. Geary and Mary Ruth Rab Geary of Greensburg, Pa.; two brothers-in-law: Donald L. Geary and his wife, Judith, and their children, Brian and Carisa, of Jeannette, Pa., and Randall L. Geary and his wife, Sandra, and their children, Nikki and Stephanie, of Blairsville, Pa.
Tom’s family will receive friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 West Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, October 3, from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. His Funeral Service follows at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home with his Pastor, the Rev. Dr. James W. Hepler, officiating.
Graveside services and Interment will follow in Scottdale Cemetery.
The family suggests Memorials be made to Calvin United Presbyterian Church, Scottdale, or the Central Christian Church of Uniontown in memory of Thomas R. Clingan.
Patricia Murtha Conway
Patricia M. Murtha Conway, 68, of Jeannette, Pa., died Saturday, September 29, 2001, in her residence.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph R. Conway; daughters: Kathleen and husband, Francis Sabo, of Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County, Pa., Mary Ann and her husband, Kevin Ross, of Marietta, Georgia, Ellen and her husband, Manny Morgado, of Tampa, Florida, and Peggy and her husband, Vaughn Gongaware, of North Huntingdon, Pa.; sons: Joseph R. Conway Jr. and wife, Tina, of Acworth, Georgia, Kevin Conway and wife, Christine, and Patrick Conway and son, Ian, all of Pittsburgh, Pa.; sisters: Constance Murtha Edwards of Virginia and Mary Murtha Humphries of Arkansas; a brother, John J. Murtha Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, of Uniontown, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the John V. Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 228 North Second Street, Jeannette, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, October 3, until 9:15 a.m.
Robert Davis Flanigan
Robert Davis "Pete" Flanigan, 67, of 5 Rose Lane, Smithfield, Pa., died Saturday, September 29, 2001, at 5:15 p.m. in his home.
He was born October 23, 1933, in Oakland, Maryland, son of Veryl Davis Flanigan and Margaret A. Savage Flanigan.
Robert was a Veteran of the United States Army who served during peacetime overseas and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He had been employed as a Laborer for Coastal Lumber Company in Hopwood, Pa.
On September 21, 1963, in Uniontown, Pa., he married Arlene Workman Flanigan, who survives. Also surviving are two sons and one daughter: David Taylor of Jefferson, Pa., Kelly Flanigan of Rices Landing, Pa., and David Allen Bucci of Larksville, Pa.; eight grandchildren; a brother, Allen Flanigan of Ohio; and a sister, Nancy Flanigan Klees of Georgia.
Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and River avenues, Masontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, October 2, until 10 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev. Scott Teets officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
Masontown Volunteer Fire Department will meet at the Funeral Home today at 7 p.m.
Bertha Dankle Franks
Bertha Louise Dankle Franks, 72, of Smithfield, Pa., died Saturday, September 29, 2001, in her residence.
She was born December 3, 1928, in Smithfield, Pa., daughter of Joseph Dankle and Mary Riper Dankle.
Bertha was a member of First Baptist Church in McClellandtown, Pa., and was presently attending Oak Hill Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Ralph Franks, sisters and brothers, Eva Jarrett, Kathryn Williams, Louis Dankle, Joseph Dankle, Rose Ainsley, and her parents.
Surviving are her children: Judy and husband Michael Joplin, Smithfield, Pa., and Betty and husband Chuck McClain, McClellandtown, Pa.; two grandchildren: Chuck McClain and Leanne McClain; brothers: Norbert Dankle, Andrew Dankle, Floyd Dankle and Peter Reicholf Jr. all of Smithfield, Pa.; sisters: Frieda Shuster, Lorain, Ohio, Marion Weakland and Johanna Fields both of Smithfield, Pa.; nieces; Magdalene Moats, Nancy Monahan and Destiny Harris; other nieces and nephews.
The Family will receive Friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., this evening from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday, October 3, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Pastor Nicholas Cook officiating.

Charles S. Glisan
Charles S. "Bud" Glisan, 70, of Markleysburg, Pa., passed away Saturday, September 29, 2001, in his home.
He was born June 23, 1931, in Markleysburg, Pa., son of Howard K. Glisan and Isa T. Rosenberger Glisan.
Mr. Glisan was a member of Union Chapel Church.
He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, Charter Member of the Markleysburg-Henry Clay Volunteer Fire Department, retired Postmaster of Markleysburg, Pa., and a partner in Glisan’s Restaurant.
His father died in 1991.
He is survived by his mother, Isa T. Rosenberger Glisan of Markleysburg, Pa.; his wife of 48 years, Betty Jean Spear Glisan; these children: Chuck Glisan and wife, Mary, of Williamsburg, Virginia, Deborah and husband, Richard Herring, of South Bend, Indiana, Doug Glisan and wife, Missy, of Wytheville, Virginia, Darlene and husband, Dave Glab, of State College, Pa., Gary Glisan of Temecula, California, Jeff Glisan and wife, JoAnn, of North Wales, Pa., and Carla Glisan and husband, Greg Czekaj, of State College, Pa.; 22 grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Ruth Sutton of Cleveland, Ohio, Darwin Glisan of Markleysburg, Pa., Harry Glisan of Farmington, Pa., and Bonnie Hager of Markleysburg, Pa.
Friends will be received in the RODNEY S. TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 254 Main Street, Markleysburg, Pa., on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Visitation continues in Union Chapel Church, Flatrock Road, Markleysburg, Pa., on Thursday, October 4, from Noon until 1 p.m. Services will be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. David Herring, Rev. John Eash and Rev. Shirley Norman officiating.
Interment will follow in Thomas Cemetery, Markleysburg, Pa., where Military Honors will be accorded.

Oscar Herbert Hauger
Oscar Herbert Hauger, 99, of Greensboro, Pa., died Saturday, September 29, 2001, in Morgan Manor, Morgantown, West Virginia.
He was born August 23, 1902, in Lennox, West Virginia, son of Marshall Walter Hauger and Maude Turney Hauger.
Mr. Hauger was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church and also Carmichaels Grange No. 1389, and was a retired Coal Miner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet M. Bell Hauger, six sisters, Bessie Schaffer, Cora Reckart, Lula Smith, Lois McCoy, Pauline Lewis, Grace Stark, and his parents.
He is survived by one sister, Edna Perry of Merrittstown, Pa.
The Family will receive Friends in the GOLDSBORO-TOMI FUNERAL HOME, 21 East Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, October 2, until 10 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev. William Davis and Rev. Frank Vucic officiating.

Ruth E. Johnson
Ruth E. Johnson, 85, of Uniontown, Pa., died Friday, September 28, 2001, in her home.
She was born May 16, 1916, in Macon, Georgia, daughter of Benjamin and Mattie Walker.
Ruth was a former member of Union Baptist Church, New Salem, Pa., and a retired Government worker.
Surviving are a daughter, Ethel M. Manigo, a granddaughter, Deborah M. Mackey, and a sister, Mamie Walters, all of Philadelphia, Pa.; eight other grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her caregiver and sister-in-law, Ruth Walker Ford and husband, Robert, Ford, of Uniontown; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received in Union Baptist Church, New Salem, Pa., on Tuesday, October 2, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., the hour of Services with Rev. Mary Baker officiating.
Interment follows in Salem View Cemetery, New Salem, Pa., under direction of the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main Street, Uniontown, Pa.
Charles W. Moore
Charles W. Moore, 82, of Masontown, Pa., died Friday, September 28, 2001.
He was born November 12, 1918, in Dearthtown, Pa., son of Charles Noble Moore and Dorothy Darrell Moore.
Charles worked as a Coal Miner at the Robena Mine.
He was a proud Veteran of World War II who served in the United States Navy as a Baker.
He was a member of Faith-Gray-McArdle V.F.W. Post 4584 in Masontown, Life Member of Masontown Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of Masontown Brethren Church.
His wife, Ellen Elizabeth Matthews Moore, died May 9, 1998. Also deceased are his parents and his stepfather, Leo Haberer.
Surviving are three children: Kathleen Moore of Masontown, Pa., Peggy and her husband, Ron Pomeroy, of Orlando, Florida, and Charles Robert Moore and his wife, Shirley, of Westernport, Maryland; and three grandsons: Scott Pomeroy, Mike Pomeroy, and Robert Moore.
Friends will be received in the BERNARD M. TOWNSEND FUNERAL HOME, 220 South Main Street, Masontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, October 2, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev. Curt Nies officiating.
Interment will follow in Church Hill Cemetery, McClellandtown, Pa., where Military Honors will be accorded by Masontown Faith-Gray-McArdle V.F.W. Post 4584.
Masontown Volunteer Fire Department will conduct Services in the Funeral Home today at 7:30 p.m.
