Wilma H. Cusick, 70, of Clairton, formerly of Glassport, died Aug. 31, 2000, at Kane Regional Center of McKeesport. Born Feb. 26, 1930, in Elizabeth, she was the daughter of the late John A. Hunt of Pittsburgh, John R. Donelly of South Plainfield, N.J. and William J. Donelly of West Mifflin; two sisters, Eleanor Bailey of Connellsville and Martha Jane Gillespie of Greensburg; and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the EDMUND E. WOJCIECHOWSKI FUNERAL HOME, in Glassport. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at Assembly of God Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be held at Jefferson Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wilma and Chuck Angel Fund.

Helen Jean Pritts, 79, of Scottdale, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 30, 2000, at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. Family and friends were received at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale (724-887-5300). Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. in Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Scottdale with her nephew, the Rev. Ronald Pritts officiating. Graveside committal services and interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials be given to a charity of one's choice in memory of Helen Jean Pritts.

Jesse C. Shipley, 50, of Normalville, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, as the result of an accident. He was born Feb. 14, 1950, in Connellsville, a son of the late Carl and Phyllis Shipley. He was a Protestant by faith. He is survived by a brother, Randy Shipley of Connellsville; six sisters, Rose Miller and her husband Larry, Sherry Childer and her husband John, all of Dawson, Linda Kersten and her husband Kenney of Leisenring, Eleanor Soltis and her husband Bill and Theresa Soltis and her husband Barry, all of Connellsville, Elma Hall and her husband Roger of Flatwoods; a sister-in-law, Nancy Shipley of Rockwood. He was predeceased by four brothers, Carl C. Shipley Jr., Clyde, Raymond and Ron Shipley. At the request of the family, there will be no public visitation or viewing. Robert O. Thomas, 97, of Confluence, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at Somerset Hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1903, in Connellsville, a son of Robert O. and Jennie Coughanour Thomas. Preceded in death by parents; three brothers; and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Stickel Thomas; a daughter, Dr. Nancy M. Hillman and her husband, James Donald Hillman, of Pittsburgh; a son, Robert O. Jr. of Washington, Pa.; and grandchildren, Patrick W. Thomas and Catherine Rose Thomas. He graduated from Connellsville High School in 1923 and the University of Pittsburgh in 1931. Retired metallurgical engineer for U.S. Steel Homestead Works. He was a member of Confluence United Methodist Church, Youghigheny Chapter S.A.R. Connellsville, Homestead Elks, Homestead Blue Lodge, life member of Pittsburgh Consistory, Syria Shrine, Steel Valley Caravan No. 24, Uniontown Caravan No. 9, Alpha Chi Sigma and Sigma Gamma Epsilon fraternities, Society for Metals, Association of Iron and Steel Engineers and Ohiopyle and Confluence Volunteer Fire Departments and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award by the Boy Scouts of America. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. today at HUMBERT FUNERAL HOME, INC. in Confluence where services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ronald Thomas officiating. Margaret Uptegraff, Scottdale
Margaret Cooper Uptegraff, 82, of Scottdale and Chautauqua, N.Y., died Aug. 31, 2000, in Greensburg. She was born April 10, 1918, in Washington, D.C., and was the daughter of the late Harry McAllister Cooper and Ida Davis Cooper. She was the wife of the late Roy E. Uptegraff Jr., former owner of the R.E. Uptegraff Manufacturing Co., Scottdale. She was a graduate of Chatham College, Pittsburgh, and was a past president of the Southern Club of Pittsburgh, member of the Duquesne Club and a member of the Chief Tanacharison Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonists. She was a former member of the Edgewood Country Club, the University Club, the Scottdale Garden Club, the Saturday Afternoon Club of Scottdale and Mount Pleasant and the Pleasant Valley Country Club. She was a longtime summer resident of Chautauqua Institution, Chautauqua, N.Y. and was a 1978 graduate of the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle and past board member of the Bird Tree and Garden Club. There is no visitation. Private service and interment will be in Scottdale Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the R.E. Uptegraff Technology Fund, Fayette Campus, Penn State University or your favorite charity. She is survived by daughters, Susan U. Endersbe of Scottdale, Dr. Judith U. Spaeth of Burlington, N.C., Kathleen U. Frosch of St. Charles, Mo.; son, Colonel Roy E. Uptegraff III of Pittsburgh; and 10 grandchildren. Arrangements are by the DREW J. Thomas F. Kattera, Mount Pleasant
Thomas F. Kattera, 75, of Mount Pleasant, went to his eternal rest Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at his residence. He was born July 16, 1925, in Mount Pleasant, a son of the late James and Anna Slater Kattera. Thomas was a member of the Visitation Roman Catholic Church and was a student at the former Ramsay High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in the European Theatre. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Fisher Body in Dravosburg. He was a member of the U.A.W.A. and VFW Post 3368. Tom's memories will be cherished by his two sons, Kenneth M. Kattera and wife, Mitzi, of New Alexandria and Michael A. Kattera and wife, Lisa, of Greensburg; and his grandson, Mark Kattera. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Kuczkowski Kattera on Aug. 11, 1999; four brothers, Robert Charles, David and Ernest Kattera; and three sisters, Josephine Hauger, Martha Kattera and Jessie. Friends will be received in the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Mount Pleasant, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Visitation RC Church with the Rev. Father Anthony W. Ditto as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery with military rites accorded by the members of the VFW and the American Legion.

Harold T. Rath, Connellsville
Harold T. Rath, 77, of Connellsville, passed away late Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, in the Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. He was born June 1, 1923, in Scottdale, a son of the late Webster O. and Elma Etta Tedrow Rath. Harold was a longtime resident of Connellsville Township and, prior to his retirement in 1979, he worked as a pipe fitter for the Anchor Hocking Corp. Glass Plant #5 in South Connellsville for over 36 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre with the 3rd Army and he was a former member of the Scottdale American Legion. Harold was also a life member of the Connellsville Township Volunteer Fire Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Scottdale. Harold is survived by his loving daughters, Hazel McKendry and her husband Dennis of Connellsville and Hilda FitzGerald and her husband Paul of Dunbar; his grandchildren, Paul J. and Patrick J. FitzGerald, both of Dunbar; and Brittany and Jillian Behnke, both of Connellsville; a brother, Walter Rath of Youngwood; and two sisters, Dorothy Younkin and Joann Burkhart and her husband William, all of Scottdale. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Helen I. Beaufort Rath in 1995 and three brothers, John, Clyde and James Rath. Harold's funeral service was held today at 10 a.m. in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville. The Rev. Jeffrey L. Popson was the officiant. Interment followed in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, with military rites conducted.

Jonathan Ray (Bird) Richter, 34, of Connellsville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at his residence. He was born Oct. 31, 1965, in Connellsville, a son of Wayne and Helen Richter of Connellsville. He is survived by four brothers, Wayne (Pete) Richter and his wife Linda, Michael Richter and his wife Cindy, George Richter and his wife Rose Marie, and David Richter, all of Connellsville; five sisters, Martha (Cookie) Dillenger and her husband Charles, Margaret (Debbie) Helms and her husband Mike, Cathy Leasher and her husband Brian, all of South Connellsville, Susan (Poohie) Mirt and her husband, Bob, and Mary Richter, all of Connellsville; his fianceŽ, Dawn Burkholder; a daughter, Jamie Marie Richter; two sons, Bradon and Dylan Richter, all of Dickerson Run; several nieces and nephews; and future-in-laws, Helen and John Burkholder of Dickerson Run. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Paul and AnnaBell Soltis and George and Grace Richter. Friends will be received in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME, 123 S. Jean N. Stefl, 72, of Mount Pleasant, R.D.6, died Sept. 2, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant. She was born Dec. 17, 1927, the daughter of the late Robert Parfitt and Ethel Ansell. Mrs. Stefl was employed by L.E. Smith Glass Co. of Mount Pleasant. She is survived by her husband, Richard T. Stefl of Mount Pleasant; two sons, Kerry D. Stefl of Mount Pleasant and Jeffrey L. Stefl and his wife Judy of Peoria, Ariz; two granddaughters, Valerie Farino and her husband William Jr. of Scottdale and Kristi Stefl of California; and two great-granddaughters, Vayda and Kaylee Farino. Viewing was held Sunday and Monday at GALONE-CARUSO'S, 204 Eagle St., Mount Pleasant. Services were held today at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment was at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The American Cancer Society.
George Conn, Mt. Jewett
George Conn, 58, of Kinzua Lake Parkway in Westline, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at the Kane Community Hospital. He was born April 25, 1942, in Normalville, the son of Edward and Sarah Firestone Conn. Conn is survived by his wife Wilma Blauser, whom he married on Jan. 20, 1976, in Kane. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his wife he is survived by daughter, Lisa Conn of Westline; three sons, Jim Blauser of Gifford, Brian Conn of Westline and George Conn of Lewis Run; three brothers, Norman Conn of Connellsville, Gerald Conn of Mill Run and Harry Conn of West Lynn, Ore.; three sisters, Shirley Coyle of Sun City, Ariz., Helen Donnini of Crawfordville, Fla. and Mary Buell of Fairfield, Va.; and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John Conn. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the CUMMINGS FUNERAL HOME, INC in Mt. Jewett with the Rev. Bruce Kumher, pastor of the Westline Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in Bridgeview Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire Department.
