Ann E. Roncadori
Ann E. Roncadori, 88, a native of Washington County, Pa., and a resident of Athens, Ga., died Saturday, July 28, 2001.
Mrs. Roncadori was a retired bookkeeper for the county government in Washington County, Pa.
She is survived by a daughter, Peg Ramy of Atlanta; a son, Ronald Roncadori of Athens; a brother, John Stoick of Detroit, Mich.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A private Funeral Service was held at the graveside at Evergreen Memorial Park on Monday, July 30, 2001, at 2 p.m.
George J. Saari
George J. Saari, 99, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Sunday, July 29, 2001.
He was born Dec. 19, 1901, in Conneaut, Ohio, to the late Matt and Maria Saari.
George was also preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Good; many close friends and family members, but none more significant than his only biological son, Eugene Saari, who was killed in a tragic accident in the late 1950’s.
He graduated with a degree in civil engineering from West Virginia University in 1926, he was also the founder of the West Virginia University’s Marching Band Fraternity, was a Kappa Kappa Si, Omnicron Chapter, and at the time of his passing, was one of the band’s oldest living members. Since his graduation, he devoted most of his time exclusively to the preparation and processing of coal.
He was associated with the engineering department of Fairmont Machinery Company, Koppers Company and Allen and Garcia, and was assistant and chief engineer of the Templeton-Matthews Corporation. He became affiliated with the McNally-Pittsburgh Manufacturing Corporation in 1942, and resided in Pittsburg, Kan., for some time. He accompanied John Griffen of the McNally-Pittsburgh Manufacturing Corporation to Brazil for field inspection of the mining facilities and of the proposed site of the coal preparation plant for the Cia, Siderurgica Nacional, BRAZIL in 1942.
George was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Asbury Men’s Bible Class, the John A. Brashear Lodge No. 743 F. & A.M., Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, Pittsburgh Consistory, Syria Shrine and Caravan No. 9 of Syria Shrine.
In addition to his wife of 74 years, Opal Marie Saari, he is survived by his grand-nephew, George J. L. Saari, whom he raised from ten months old and adopted as his son, who is mourning his passing.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, Pa., where the family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m., when services will be held, with the Rev. Scott Teets officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa. The family requests that memorials be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church, 20 Dunbar St., Uniontown, PA 15401, or the Westmoreland/Fayette County Boy Scout Council. Laurel Lodge No. 651 will conduct Masonic services on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m.
Bernard J. Andrews
Bernard J. Andrews, 68, of St. Louis County, Mo., died Saturday, April 7, 2001 of leukemia at his home.
He was the former circulation manager of the Post-Dispatch in St. Louis and retired in 1997 after 29 years with the paper.
Mr. Andrews grew up in Dearth, Pa., and began his career as a newspaper carrier in Uniontown, Pa.
Andrew was also a member of St. Richard’s Catholic Church on Schuetz Road.
Among the survivors are his wife Margaret of St. Louis County; three sons, Tim Andrews of Irvine, Calif., Bernie Andrews of Columbia, Mo., and David Andrews of St. Louis; a daughter, Jill Bledsoe of St. Peters; and four grandchildren.
Visitation was held Monday at the ALEXANDER FUNERAL HOME at 11101 St. Charles Rock Road, St. Ann, Mo. There will be a private funeral and burial today.

Ruth Shearin Barry
Ruth Shearin Barry, 82, of Uniontown, Pa., died peacefully Sunday morning, April 8, 2001, in LaFayette Manor.
She was born July 22, 1918, in Uniontown, Pa., the daughter of James A. Shearin and Edith Festog Shearin.
Mrs. Barry was a graduate of the former Point Marion High School.
At the age of 16 she enrolled in Indiana State Teachers College, now Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and was honored by a special luncheon with the President for this accomplishment. During her college career she was awarded the prestigious "Golden I Award" for her outstanding academic and athletic achievements. She graduated in 1939 with a Bachelors Degree in Education.
Mrs. Barry later attended Penn State University and was awarded the Master of Science Degree in Education. She continued her education pursuits throughout her career and attended the graduate schools of the University of Pittsburgh, Syracuse University, and Temple University in addition to many educational executive courses and seminars.
Ruth served on the Planning Commission at California University of Pennsylvania, California Alumni Board, Advisory Board at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and the Tri-State Council at the University of Pittsburgh.
She was the recipient of "The Dedicated Californian Award for Meritorious Service".
Mrs. Barry was a member of Phi Delta Kappa in which she served three years as Charter President of the Beta Zeta Chapter.
As a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association she served as President of both the Fayette County and Clearfield County districts and served on a number of committees at the state and local levels.
She was a member of the National Association of Elementary Principals, National Association of Teacher Educators, Early Childhood Education Association, and the Keystone Reading Association.
Other community activities include: Parish Council and the Altar and Rosary Society of St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, Uniontown Professional and Business Club, Elk’s Auxiliary, and Southwestern Pennsylvania Aging Agency.
Mrs. Barry devoted her life to the education profession. At the time of her death she was Professor Emeritus for Life at California University of Pennsylvania where she had been a Professor of Education for 18 years before retiring in 1979.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, William F. Barry; two brothers: Col. William F. Shearin (Ret.) of Towson, Maryland, and Col. Daniel Joseph Shearing (Ret.) of Lady Lake, Florida; a sister, Nancy Kennedy and her husband, William, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; several nieces and nephews.
The arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa., where friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday, April 11, until 10:30 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 11 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, with Rev. Fr. James Tringhese as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
Parish Wake Service will be held today at 8:30 p.m.
Florence E. Drenckpohl
Word has been received that Florence Elizabeth Wagner Drenckpohl died peacefully on Sunday, April 8, 2001 at Gardenview Nursing Home in LeSueur, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Erwin John Drenckpohl, on October 18, 1999; by her parents, Joseph and Ida Wagner; and by her infant grandson, Brian Joseph Dahn.
Surviving are her sons: John and his wife Pearl of Taylors, S.C., and David of Morton, Ill; by her daughters: Mary Hart and husband Richard of Brownsville, Pa., and Judy Dahn and husband Richard of LeSueur, Minn.; by 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren: two step great-grandchildren; and by six nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, April 12, 2001 at the LeSueur United Methodist Church, followed by burial in Mound Cemetery.
Audrey L. Durstine
Audrey L. Durstine, 64, of Confluence, formerly of Normalville, died April 7, at Henry Clay Villa, Markleysburg.
She is survived by four sons, Edward Eutsey of Indian Head, John Eutsey of Dunbar, Robert Durstine and Bill Durstine of Confluence; daughters, Sue Ream and Lywanna Burnsworth of Confluence; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Cain of Melcroft and Janet Anderson of Ohio and her foster mother, Geraldine Pritts of Rockwood.
Friends will be received at Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence, today until 11 a.m.
James R. Geiger
James R. Geiger, 72, of Scottdale R.D.2, Pa., passed away Monday morning, April 9, 2001 in Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant, following a long illness.
James was retired from Republic Steel’s Newfield Mine Division, Verona, where he worked as a purchasing agent. He was previously employed with FEMCO in Irwin for over 25 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty E. Hall Geiger; a son, Keith R. Geiger and wife Debra of Tarrs; a daughter, Kathie R. Geiger Parfitt and husband Randy of Scottdale; a grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Robert B. Ferguson Funeral Home, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, and on Wednesday in the Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m., the hour of service.
Rozena Williams Glover
Rozena M. Williams Glover, 99, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away in the home of her son, Gerald Glover.
She was born February 9, 1902, in Clover Top, Pa., daughter of Fielding and Rozilla Williams.
Her husband, Goldy Glover, died in 1988. Also deceased are a son, Karl Glover, great-granddaughter, Amy Rozena, and her parents.
Surviving are these children: Gerald Glover and his wife, Eleanor, of Uniontown, Pa., Mrs. Robert (Betty) Cramer of Sebring, Florida, Mrs. Karl (Janet) Glover of Uniontown, Pa., Mrs. Thomas (Norma) Babbony of Uniontown, Pa., and Pastor Wayne Glover and his wife, Deanna, of Kosota, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday, April 11, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev. Thomas Whitehead officiating.

Irene Houston
Irene Houston, 92, of Buffalo, N.Y., died Sunday, April 8, 2001 in Buffalo General Hospital.
Surviving are on daughter, Geraldine T. Sawyer of Masontown, Pa.; one grandson, Pastor Timothy Sawyer and wife Donita of Jeanette, Pa.; one great-grandson Justin Turner of Jeanette, Pa.; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 12, 2001 at 12 noon from the Calvary Baptist Church, Genesee St., Buffalo, N.Y.

James V. Hughes
James V. Hughes, 34, of Waynesburg, Pa. died Sunday, April 8, 2001, from injuries received from a motorcycle accident.
He was born May 12, 1966 in Waynesburg, Pa., son of John H. Hughes and the late Olivedell (Varner) Hughes.
He was a graduate of Waynesburg Central High School, Class of 1984; a graduate of Triangle Tech with an associate degree in computer aided drafting; and a graduate of Point Park College in 1990 with a degree in civil engineering. He was employed by Penn DOT in Bridgeville as an engineer.
Mr. Hughes was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church and associated with the Little League Wrestling in Greene County as a coach and assistant coordinator since 1991.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a son, Jonathon Scott Bortz of Waynesburg; a daughter, Madison Renee Hughes of Morgantown, W.Va.; three sisters, Melinda A. Krosunger of Waynesburg, Cynthia S. Corkran of Westminister, Md., and Jacqueline L. Lancaster of Uniontown; one brother, Charles D. Hughes of Westminister, Md.; his paternal grandmother, Regina Hughes of Fredericktown; several aunts, uncles, and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the MILLIKEN AND THROCKMORTON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 197 N. Maiden St., Waynesburg, Pa., from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, April 12, 2001 at 11 a.m., the hour of service, with Rev. David Barrett officiating.
He will be laid to rest at Claughton Cemetery in Whiteley Township, Pa.
