Christopher E. Jeffries Sr.
Christopher E. Jeffries Sr., age 78, of Bobtown, Pa., died Sunday, April 8, 2001, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
He was born February 20, 1923 at Rices Landing, Pa., a son of the late Clyde and Anna Rutherford Jeffries, Sr.
He was a coal miner, retired from Gateway Mine, and formerly employed at J & L Shannopin Mine in Bobtown. He was a U.S. Army veteran, joining in 1942, and served in both World War Two and the Korean Conflict in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was honorably discharged in 1951 with the rank of Master Sergeant, and later served in the National Guard, based in Waynesburg.
He was a member of the UMWA, Gateway Local 6330, and of the Rod and Gun Club and V.F.W. Post 5567, both of Bobtown.
Surviving are three sons, Christopher Jeffries Jr. of Mapletown, Charles Jeffries of Car-michaels, and Frank Jeffries of Garards Fort, Pa.; two daughters, Victoria Denham of Greensboro and Darlene Petrick of Bobtown; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Clyde Jeffries of Rices Landing; and five sisters, Mary McFadden of Pittsburgh, Minnie Wise of Elyria, Ohio, Betty Burnsworth of Jefferson, Pa., Beatrice Estle of Rices Landing, and Shirley Cowger of Donora, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria Yap Jeffries on February 26, 1996; and by a sister, June Miller.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, today from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with Rev. Erwin "Woody" Wilson officiating. Interment follows in Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Pa.
Military Rites will be accorded at the graveside by Company D 1-103rd Armored Battalion of Connellsville, Pa.
William W. Johnston
William W. "Poodles" Johnston, 84, of Hopwood, Pa., passed away Sunday, April 8, 2001 in Beverly Health Care, Uniontown.
He was born August 11, 1916 in Hopwood, son of the late Frank and Olive Lowe Johnston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant brothers.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years Rosella Victor Johnston; a daughter, Linda Rae Romesburg and husband Scott of Uniontown; one grandson, Scott Romesburg and wife Gina of Boston, Mass.; and one sister, Louise Knox of Conowingo, Md.
Bill was Protestant by faith.
He was the oldest living founding member of the Hopwood Volunteer Fire Department and was retired after 31 years of service at Uniontown Hospital.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, today from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday, April 12, 2001, until 11 a.m., the hour of the service, with Rev. William J. Moull officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park.
Donald King
Donald Glenn King, 84, of Delray Beach, Fla., formerly of Connellsville, died Thursday, April 5, at his residence.
Friends will be received at Brooks Funeral Home Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, today until 11 a.m.
William J. Mlakar
William J. Mlakar, 54, of Herndon, Va., formerly of Uniontown, Pa., died Saturday morning, March 24, 2001, at his home after a brief illness.
He was born April 13, 1946, son of Cecelia (Petish) Mlakar and the late John W. Mlakar, who died on May 16, 1989.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Paulette (Frederick), formerly of Footedale; loving daughters, Christine and husband Eric Lindley of Herndon, Va., and Julie Mlakar of New York; sister, Louise (Joy) Greenan and husband Richard of Pittsburgh, and brother Donald and wife Susan of Belle Vernon; nephew Jeffrey and niece Ashley Mlakar and many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles and cousins.
William graduated from South Union High School, class of 1964. He was a member of the First U.S. Army Band at Fort Meade, Md., from 1964 to 1967. William was a member of St. Joseph’s Church of Herndon; a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Arlington, Va.; Treasurer of Arlington Volunteer Fire Department, Company One; and Secretary of the Arlington County Firemen’s Association.
He worked as a manager with Verizon of Northern Virginia (formerly Bell Atlantic) for over 30 years.
Family and friends were received at the ADAMS-GREEN FUNERAL HOME. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at 1:15 p.m. Interment followed at the Chestnut Grove Cemetery, all located in Herndon, Va.

Earl E. McKlveen
Earl Eugene "Gene" McKlveen, 73, of Connellsville, Pa., died suddenly Sunday, April 8, 2001, at his home.
He was born Dec. 28, 1927 in Pennsville, Pa., a son of the late Alvin "Abbie" McKlveen and the late Elsie L. Leasher McKlveen Miller.
He was a lifelong resident of the Connellsville area. Early on in his career, he worked for the family business at the Quality Dairy in Connellsville and later worked at Williamhouse.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War Two having served in the Pacific Theatre, and he was a former member of the Connellsville V.F.W.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Connellsville.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Layman May McKlveen; a son, Earl E. McKlveen II and his wife Nora of Youngwood; four daughters: Kay Eileen Klepskey and her husband John, Diana Lee Green and her husband Charles, Lou Ann Balsley and her husband David, and Donna Jean Keill, all of Connellsville; a stepdaughter, Debra M. Showman of Connellsville; two stepsons, David E. May and his wife Ruth of Mount Pleasant and Donald Wayne May and his wife Sharon of Normalville; eight grandchildren: Earl II, Stephanie and George McKlveen, Alicia and Derek Klepskey, Lori Ann and Spencer Green and Betty Jane Keill; three step-grandchildren, Anthony D. and Donald W. May Jr., and a very precious grandson, Stetson Showman; and a brother, Ronald McKlveen Sr. and wife Nettie of Connellsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jane Miller McKlveen in 1967.
Friends will be received at the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connells-ville, today from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Hellein officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Normalville Cemetery.
Military Rites will be conducted at the Cemetery.
Additional viewing was held Monday.
William H. McNatt Sr.
William H. McNatt Sr., 70, of Rosie Hill, Lemont Furnace R.D.1, Pa., passed away Saturday, April 7, 2001, in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born April 12, 1930, in Alverton, Pa. son of the now late Allen D. McNatt and Doris Beistel McNatt and stepmother Rose McNatt.
Mr. McNatt attended Mount Braddock Pillar of Fire Church where he was a faithful worker.
He served in the United States Army Reserves and retired from Foseco Brick Yard in 1981.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ada B. Crawford McNatt; children: Janice L. and her husband, Joel Cooper, of Mount Braddock and William H. McNatt Jr. and his wife, Jennie, of Hopwood, Pa.; loving grandchildren with whom he spent special time: Janelle Cooper, Jessica Cooper and Ryan McNatt; and a sister, Kathy Shanaberger of Uniontown, Pa.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday, April 11, until 1 p.m., the hour of Service with Rev. James Jobes officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
Alverta I. Pullin
Alverta I. Pullin, 95, of Markleysburg, Pa., died Monday, April 9, 2001, in the Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, Md.
She was born October 10, 1905 in Salisbury, Pa., the daughter of the late James and Clara Platter Mimna.
She was a member of the Gospel Center Church in Markleysburg, Pa.
Surviving are two sons, Howard Pullin Jr. of Girard, Ohio, and Blaine Pullin of Euclid, Ohio; three daughters: Delores Alexander of Accident, Md., Clara Bennett of Cumberland, Md. and Edna Mae Golding of Madison, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Jean Pullin of Markleysburg, Pa.; two brothers, Mark Mimna of Youngstown, Ohio and Paul Mimna of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Mary Jane Ladd of Canton, Ohio and Josephine Coddington of Hubbard, Ohio; several grandchildren; step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard J. Pullin on Oct. 3, 1992; a son, Kenneth Pullin; grandson, Stephen Golding; a sister, Geneva Glass; and three brothers, Hubert Mimna, Charles Mimna, and James Mimna.
Friends may call at the Gospel Center Church in Markleysburg, Pa. on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 12, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the church with Rev. Donald Hersom and Rev. Martin Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Addison Cemetery, Addison, Pa.

Ann J. Sheehan
Ann J. Sheehan, 94, of Morrell, Pa., died Monday, April 9, 2001, at Highlands Hospital, Connellsville.
She was born May 18, 1906, in Donora, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Julia Lapson.
Since 1923, she was a member of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Connellsville, and was a housekeeper for the late Rev. Fr. Henry Geibel until 1940. She was also active with the Christian Mothers. For many years, Ann served as a volunteer at Highlands Hospital Snack Bar, Somerset State Hospital, and American Red Cross blood drives. She also enjoyed activities at the Connellsville Senior Center and was an avid bowler for many years.
Ann was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry D. Sheehan (1980); three sisters, Hilda Russell, Helen Short, and Mae White; and three brothers, Joseph, Mike and Harold Lapson.
She is survived by a son, Dwyer Sheehan and wife Joanne of Dunbar Township; a daughter, Mary Lou Coulter and husband David of Costa Mesa, Calif.; three grandchildren, Beth Anne Sheehan, Kami Bryant and husband Richard, and Chad Coulter and wife Tracey; and a great-grandson, Tyler Bryant.
Friends will be received today from Noon until 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC., 418 N. Pittsburgh St., Connellsville where a Blessing Service will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception R.C. Church with the Rev. Fr. Michael Sciberras as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Connellsville.
A Parish Wake Service will be held in the funeral home today at 1 p.m.
Joseph D. Wallace
Joseph D. "Jay" Wallace, 87, of Uniontown, Pa., died Friday, April 6, 2001, in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born September 3, 1913, in Lemont Furnace, Pa., son of Oliver Michael Wallace and Edna Brindle Wallace.
He was a 1932 graduate of the former North Union High School and retired from Sears Roebuck and Company. He was also employed with the former Union Supply Company stores.
Mr. Wallace was a member of St. John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Uniontown, Pa., and a lifetime member of The Knights of Columbus.
Two brothers, Phillip Wallace and Raymond Wallace, three sisters, Esther Wallace, Nelle R. Wallace, Rosemary Bruno, and his parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by three brothers: Robert V. Wallace and his wife, Catherine, of Uniontown, Oliver Eugene Wallace and his wife, Mary Louise, of Mount Pleasant, Pa., and Regis F. Wallace of Brook Park, Ohio; two sisters: Patricia Meyer of Millersville, Pa., and Leola Broderick of Uniontown, Pa.; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Irene O’Brien and family of Masontown, Pa.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., 139 West Fayette Street, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 9 p.m.
