Betty K. Ray, 79, of Alverton, died Monday, at Hilltop Manor, Donegal.
She is survived by two sons, James Ray of Delmont and George Ray Jr. of Scottdale; one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Kathleen) Sweitzer of Mount Pleasant; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray Kwak of Mount Pleasant and four sisters, Mrs. Frank (Verna) Chappell of Mammoth, Mrs. Elmer (Dorothy) Beveridge and Mrs. Robert (Jean) Landy both of Mount Pleasant and Mrs. Robert (Francis) Hoza of Ligonier.
Friends will be received at Eugene G. Saloom Funeral Home Inc., Main Street, Mount Pleasant, today from 2 to 9 p.m. and until 11 a.m. Thursday.
Marian E. Schiffbauer
Marian E. Saladin Schiffbauer, 78, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Monday, May 28, 2001, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia.
She was born June 26, 1922, in Pittsburgh, Pa., daughter of the late Charles and Irene Saladin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Schiffbauer Sr., who died May 25, 1999; a son, David Schiffbauer; and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are seven children: James Schiffbauer and his wife, Mary, of Chalk Hill Pa., and Daniel Schiffbauer and his wife Rose, Janice Mancuso, and Susan Schiffbauer all of Uniontown, Pa., Melinda and her husband, Jim Kefover, of Charleroi, Pa., Paul Schiffbauer and his wife, Helen, of Virginia Beach, Va., and William L. Schiffbauer of Fairchance, Pa.; six grandchildren: Daniel, Michael, James and Leah Schiffbauer, Melissa Mancuso and David Pegg; great-grandchildren: Daniel E. Schiffbauer and Lauren Schiffbauer; and a brother, Clifford Saladin of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Madison Stringfellow officiating.
James R. Schollaert
James Richard Schollaert, 66, of Uniontown, Pa., died suddenly Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born Nov. 27, 1934, in Aliquippa, Pa., son of the late James M. and LelaBelle Schollaert.
Surviving are his wife, Lois J. (Braddock) Schollaert, whom he married on Aug. 8, 1959, at the Bible Baptist Church in Uniontown, Pa.; three children, Randy L. Schollaert and wife, Ronda of Charleroi, Pa., Cindy B. Schollaert McMahon and husband, Wade A. of Smithfield, Pa., and Richard J. Schollaert of Uniontown, Pa.; and the following relatives, Clarence Schollaert of Sturgeon, Pa., and Catherine Schollaert McCabe of Sarasota, Fla. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Brandon, Shelby and Meagan McMahon, all of Smithfield, Pa., and Nathan Schollaert and Jennifer and Aubrey Tokar, all of Charleroi, Pa.; and his beloved animal friends, Penny and Mitzzi.
Jim was an avid walleye fisherman, and a member of the Yough Walleye Association and will be sadly missed by all. He served in the Korean Conflict in the Philippines, was employed by Fruehauf Corporation from 1961-1964, and then retired from U.S. Steel, after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church of Uniontown, was Past Commander of the American Legion Post 51 of Uniontown, from 1987 to 1988, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Uniontown.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., 139 West Fayette St., Uniontown, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, June 2, until a time to be announced.
William C. Sethman
William C. (Wild Willie) Sethman, 52, of Fayette City, Pa., died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in his late home.
Surviving are his wife, Rose J. Mayernik Sethman; the following children, William Sethman of Naomi, Shawn Sethman, stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army, Nicholas Sethman and Samantha Mayernik of Fayette City, and Dena Britt of Monessen; brothers, Barry Sethman of Reno, Nev., and Chuck Sethman and Terry Sethman, both of Yukon, Pa.; a sister, Debbie Nichols of Belle Vernon; three grandchildren; and two very close friends, Melvin and Gwen White of England.
Friends will be received in the Eley-McCrory Funeral Home Inc., 334 Main St., Fayette City, Pa., today from Noon to 9 p.m. Services will be private for the family.
Ollie Shaver
Ollie Shaver, 89, of Allison No. 1, Pa., died Sunday morning, May 27, 2001, in Brownsville General Hospital, Brownsville, Pa.
She was born Aug. 14, 1911, in Georgiana, Ala., daughter of the late John and Ever Adams.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oris Shaver in 1995.
Surviving are three children, Nathaniel Shaver and wife, Minnie of Warren, Ohio, Eveline Byrd of Allison No. 1, Pa., and Alma Jefferies of Warren, Ohio; three sisters, Lula McKee of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Inez Pugy and Emma Miles, both of Georgiana, Ala.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received in the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main St., Uniontown, Pa., on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
Teresa H. Smitley
Teresa H. Smitley, 103, of Hopwood, Pa., passed away Monday, May 28, 2001, at her home.
She was born August 19, 1897.
She was "Mom Smitley" to many she loved and who loved her.
Teresa was a member of Hopwood Free Methodist Church.
Her husband, William Clyde Smitley, predeceased her.
She was the mother of Pastor M. Jean Parry of Hopwood, Pa., and William C. Smitley of North Versailles, Pa.; grandmother to David Parry of Douglasville, Ga., Bonnie Duncan of Lancaster, Pa., and Bill Smitley of Memphis, Tenn. She has three great-grandchildren: Matthew, Tommy, and Elizabeth.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Visitation continues Friday, June 1, in Hopwood Free Methodist Church, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m., with the Rev. William Moull officiating.
Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery, Braddock, Pa.
James A. Swank Sr.
James Allen Swank Sr., 78, of Kingview (Upper Tyrone Township), Pa., passed away Monday afternoon, May 28, 2001, at his residence.
He was retired from Duraloy Blaw-Knox, Scottdale, where he worked as a crane operator and truck driver for 33 years. He was formerly employed with the U.S. Government in Baltimore, Md.
Jim is survived by his loving family: his wife of 52 years, Elsie Gladys Seehoffer Swank; his children, Harold Swank of Interlachen, Fla., Ronald Swank of Ruffsdale, Betty Jane Leasher of Kingview, James Allen Swank Jr., of Interlachen, Fla., Donald Eugene Swank Sr., and wife, Susan of Scottdale, Gwendolyn Kersten of Dawson, and William Swank Sr., and wife, Theresa of Kingview; a stepdaughter, Janet Louise Swank of Kingview; 26 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Goldie Pritts and husband, Wayne of Thornwood; and a brother, Thomas Swank of Breakneck.

Jack C. Thornton
Jack C. Thornton, 73, of McClellandtown, Pa., died Saturday morning, May 26, 2001, at his home.
He was born March 6, 1928, in Wheeling, W. Va., son of the late William and Helen Kinney Thornton.
Jack served three years in the United States Navy, was a retired welder from United States Steel’s Irwin Works, was a portrait painter, a jewelry craftsman, and a member of Duck Hollow Golf Course where he was known as "Thunder" to his golf buddies and "Pap Jack" to his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Thornton Jones; and two brothers, William Jr., and Robert Thornton.
He is survived by his wife, Henrietta English Thornton; two daughters: Carmen Still of Atlanta, Ga., and Marlella Thomas of Uniontown, Pa.; four sons: Jack Thornton Jr., of Warren, Ohio, Craig Thornton of Philadelphia, Pa., Albert Thornton of Altoona, Pa., and Darryle Thornton of Edenborn, Pa.; three sisters: Barbara Nelson of Pittsburgh, Pa., Patricia Thornton of Steubenville, Ohio, and Virginia Smoot of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers: Michael and Jan Thornton, both of Steubenville, Ohio; his father and mother-in-law, Henry and Pearl English of Edenborn, Pa.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Kevin Frye of Edenborn, Pa.

Mary M. Puz Ward, 83, of Scottdale R.D.2, died Monday, in Integrated Health Services at Mountain View.
She is survived by four sons, Jerry Ward of Greensburg, David G. Ward of Dawson, Joel M. Ward of Palmdale, Calif., and Paul J. Ward of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; three daughters, Jane Stokes of Pittsburgh, Georgia L. Shalek of Scottdale R.D.2 and Mrs. David (Susan M.) Smith of Douglas, Mass. and 13 grandchildren.

Ann E. Williams, 70, of Rowes Run, Pa., died Monday, May 28, 2001, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
She was born Aug. 29, 1930, in Smock, Pa., daughter of the late John J. and Ann Hrubecz Sr.
Surviving are her husband, Marshall Williams; a son, Kevin L. and wife, Trudy G. Williams of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Kim R. and husband, Rosario (Roy) Salerno of Waterbury, Conn.; a granddaughter, Rachel Ann Williams; great-grandchildren, Monique, Crystal and Laura Bellemere and Roy Edward Salerno Jr.; three sisters, Christine Novosel of Burke, Vt., Mildred Sikora of North Royalton, Ohio, and Bernadine Fox of Perry Hall, Md.; two brothers, James Hrubecz of Grindstone, Pa., and Carl Hrubecz of Smock, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John J. Hrubecz Jr., and Joseph Hrubecz; and a sister, Helen Jankura.

Fr. John Sedlak as celebrant. Entombment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park. A Wake Service will be held today at 8:30 p.m. The Rosary Confraternity will recite the Partner Parish Rosary on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Clara Barbush
Clara Barbush, nee Rakowski, died at her home on Jan. 30, 2001, at the age of 91.
She is predeceased by her husband, Michael Barbush Sr.; her parents, Mary and Joseph Rakowski; brothers, Rudolph, Edward and Frank; and a sister, Margaret Balcik.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Michael (Mary Jane), Daniel (Mary Patricia), and Barbara (Fred) Toborg; seven grandchildren, Rachael, Andrew, Rebecca, Bridget and Steven Barbush and Lili and Michael Toborg; an aunt, Sr. Clementine of the Benedictine Order; and two nieces, Betty Lake and Clara Myers.
A Wake will be held today at the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church in Footedale, on Thursday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. Andrew M. Kawecki as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
