Rhea S. Roosen
Rhea S. Roosen, 95, of Lititz, died January 23, 2005, at the Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster.
Rhea was born in Blandon, PA, the daughter of the late Fred and Gertrude Snyder Sell, Reading, PA. She graduated from Ursinus College with a BA in German. She taught German and Home Economics in the New Jersey School system before she marriage George Roosen, to whom she was marriage for 63 years. She had a life long interest in catering and food service management, first as a cafeteria manager at Scott Foresman Book Publishing and later in retirement. In Lititz, she helped start the local Meals on Wheels and Moravian Church Food and Fellowship Group. She enjoyed needlework and was an avid bridge player.
She is survived by two daughters, Alene Roosen and Jeanne Roosen Grimsley (wife of Jim Grimsley), both of Lititz. Another daughter, Betsy Roosen Sheppard predeceased her in 1979. She has four grandsons: Ted Grimsley and Larry Grimsley, both of Sykesville, MD, and Robert Sheppard, Mission Viejo, CA, and Steven Sheppard, Costa Mesa, CA; six great grandchildren, Kate, Benjamin and Christopher Sheppard, of CA, Kate, Kyle and Erin Grimsley, of MD.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Life Celebration Memorial Service on Saturday, February 20th, at 3:30 P.M. at the Moravian Manor, Lititz, PA, with Reverend Bruckart officiating. The family will greet after the Memorial Service. Interment is private and at the convenience of her family. There will be no public viewing. Please omit flowers. Cortney Erin Fry
On January 22, 2005, Cortney Erin Fry, 20, of Columbia.
Cortney was a clerical worker and previously had worked at Musser's Markets.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Charles E. Fry, of Columbia and Holly L. Hotchkiss Fry, of Mount Joy.
Surviving in addition to her parents is one daughter, Giavanni A. Stewart, of Harrisburg; one sister, Samantha L. Groff, of Mount Joy; maternal grandparents, Thomas O. and Sandra Hotchkiss, of Willow Street; paternal grandparents, Charles E. and Carolyn R. Fry, of Danville and a paternal great grandmother, Marian Zimmerman, of Hollidaysburg.
The Celebration of Cortney's Life will be held at the Columbia Presbyterian Church, 360 Locust Street, Columbia, PA on Sunday, February 13, 2005 at 2 PM with Rev. David C. Powers officiating. There will be a visitation immediately following the Celebration. Private traditional casket burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery, Millersville, PA. Kindly omit flowers. George N. Moshos
George N. Moshos, 79, of 60 Peach Lane, Lancaster, died Sunday, February 6, 2005 at Moravian Manor.
Born in Lebanon, PA, he was a son of the late Nicholas and the late Katina Kitsis Moshos. George was marriage to Esther Chaknos Moshos. They celebrated 58 years of marriage on June 30, 2004.
Mr. Moshos, well-known for 55 years as a Lancaster restaurateur, owned the former Garden Spot Restaurant in Lancaster, PA, the Greek Gourmet at Park City, and managed the J.C. Penney Restaurant at Park City. After his retirement he worked as a courier at Fulton Bank.
A very active member and volunteer at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, he spent many hours in the kitchen, especially in preparation for the Bazaar, for retreats, and other charitable events. He served as President of the Parish Council, was a member of the Board of Elders and Orthodox Christian Council of Churches of South Central PA. He was a member and past-president of the AHEPA Red Rose Chapter No. 71 of Lancaster who bowled for the Hellenic and the Lancaster Sertoma Teams. He was an active volunteer for the American Cancer Society during Daffodil Days as well as for the Lancaster County Council of Churches. During his tenure as president of the Restaurant Association in 1957, he was involved with the Buck-a-Cup program that supported the Lancaster County Crippled Children's Society. A 1943 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, he attended Culinary School in Elizabethtown, PA. A veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps, he was stationed in England during World War II.
Surviving besides his wife are two children, Kathy Moshos of Lancaster; and Theodore G., marriage to Diane A. B. Moshos, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Mary and Luke; two brothers, Arthur N., marriage to Helen Moshos and James, marriage to Thalia Moshos, all of Lancaster.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning, 11:00 a.m. at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 64 Hershey Avenue, Lancaster. Interment at Conestoga Memorial Park. Friends may pay their respects to the family and attend the viewing on Tuesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Annunciation Church. The Trisagion service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions in George's memory may be sent to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.

Diane E. Ubertaccio

Diane E. Kendig Ubertaccio, 49, a resident of Conestoga View, died Saturday at the home.
She was the wife of Ralpheal P. Ubertaccio.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Esther Whitman Kendig.
She had worked as a secretary for the Fireman's Fund Insurance in Morristown, NJ. She was a member of the Whippany Chapel in Whippany, NJ and was a member of the Eastern Star.
Surviving besides her husband are two brothers, Jerrold R., husband of Judith Kendig of Lancaster and John C. Kendig of Dover, PA and a sister, Donna E. Ury of Parsippany, NJ.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 14, at 2:00 PM at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA with the rev. John M. Smaligo officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 1:30 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Southeast Branch, 228 State St., East Petersburg, PA 17520. Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 394-4097.

Rev. Joseph A. Celia

Rev. Joseph A. Celia, 64, Parochial Vicar, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, died at the Essa Flory Hospice Center on Saturday afternoon.
Fr. Celia was born in Lancaster, and was son of the late Joseph and Jennie Amico Celia.
Fr. Celia graduated from Sacred Heart Parochial School and attended Lancaster Catholic High School before entering St. Charles Seminary in Catonsville, MD, where he graduated high school and attended two years of college. He graduated from St. Mary s Seminary in Baltimore, MD.
He was ordained a Catholic Priest on May 20, 1967 by the Most Reverend George Leech, D.D. at St. Patrick Cathedral, Harrisburg.
His assignments as a priest are the following; Parochial Vicar, Good Shepherd Parish, Camp Hill, June 1967-Jan. 1970; Parochial Vicar, Seven Sorrows BVM Parish, Middletown, Jan. 1970-Aug. 1971; Parochial Vicar, St. Joseph Parish, Shamokin, Aug 1971-May 1974; Campus Ministry, Bucknell & Susquehanna University, May 1974-April 1983; Pastor, Our lady of Visitation Parish, Shippensburg & Campus Ministry, Shippensburg University, April 1983- Aug 1986; Pastor, St. Pius X Parish, Selinsgrove & Campus Ministry, Susquehanna University, Aug 1986- Aug 2002; Parochial Vicar, St. Leo the Great Parish, Lancaster, Feb 2003- Feb. 12, 2005.
Fr. was a Third Degree Knight of Columbus. Fr. Joe enjoyed good food and cooking, reading, movies, shopping, and sports. He also loved his pet boxer dogs.
Surviving is a sister, Mary Catherine, wife of J. Jude Schlager of Lancaster; two nephews, Michael J. and Timothy J. Schlager; a niece, Karen Eichelberger; six great nieces and nephew.
The Mass of Transferral will be held at 7pm on Tuesday evening at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA. Viewing times for Tuesday will be from 5-7pm at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Leo the Great on Wednesday morning at 11am with The Most Reverend Kevin Carl Rhoades, Bishop of Harrisburg, as Celebrant. Viewing times on Wednesday will be from 9-10:45am. The interment will be private.

Melvin L. Brooks
Melvin L. Brooks, 74, of 4430 Main St., Conestoga, died February 2, 2005 at the Mennonite Home. He was the husband of Jolene M. Clark Brooks.
He was born in Bird-in-Hand to the late John L. and Edna Groff Brooks. He worked for Turkey HIll in the fabrication and truck shop. He was the member of St. Paul s United Methodist Church in Earleville, MD, where he sang in the choir and belonged to the men s group. He was a world traveler, hunter and camper.
Besides his wife, he is survived by sons Kenneth E., husband of Debra J. Brooks, Conestoga, Timothy W., husband of Susan R. Brooks, Deerfield Beach, FL and Melvin L. Brooks, Jr., husband of Sharon T. Brooks, Wise, VA and a daughter, Julianne M., wife of Clinton C. Singer, Lewistown, PA. He was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Lloyd Brooks.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster with the Rev. Joseph G. Burris officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Harry B. Smith

Harry B. Smith, 89, of 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster and formerly of Clearfield, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday morning. Harry was born in Providence Twp., the son of the late Harry M. and Anna L. Brubaker Smith. Harry is survived by his wife of three years, Elizabeth Hubbs Smith. His first wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Hoover Smith died on February 17, 2000.
Harry was a dairy farmer in the Rawlinsville area for most of his life. He was a member of the Clearfield United Methodist Church since 1928 where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, teacher, trustee, and member of the Administrative Board. Also a lay leader and president of the Clearfield Cemetery Committee. Harry was very active in the Rawlinsville Camp Meeting Association where he served as treasurer and also for many years he faithfully served on the Providence Twp. planning commission.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Elaine, marriage to Parke Eckman of Mountville and four sons, Barry H., marriage to Janet of New Providence, Kenneth E., marriage to Kathleen of Strasburg, Richard A., marriage to Cathy and Charles R., marriage to Donna both of Quarryville. Also one stepson, Paul A. Hubbs, Jr. of Lancaster; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; a brother, Clair L. Smith of Lancaster. Harry was preceded in death by a grandson, a granddaughter, a brother, Ira M. Smith and 3 sisters, Ella Ecklin, Cora Charles and Mary Miller.
Funeral services will be on Saturday at 1:00 from the Clearfield United Methodist Church, 1238 Rawlinsville Rd., New Providence with Pastor Blake Deibler officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday morning at the church from 12:00 until 1:00. Please omit flowers, contributions can be made in Harry s memory to the Rawlinsville Camp Associating, c/o Connie Howett, 49 Denmar Dr., Holtwood, PA 17532. Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services in Quarryville is assisting the family.
