Mabel Smith Kinne, 85, of Willow Valley Manor, Lancaster, formerly of Claremont, CA, died on Wednesday at the Lancaster General Hospital
Born in Connelsvile, PA, she was the daughter of the late Bela Buck and Sallie Cook Smith and the wife of the late Harry C. Kinne, who died in 1979.
Mrs. Kinne has resided in Lancaster County since 1991.
She was a graduate of Elmira College with a degree in French. At one time she taught French in a high school and worked for the British Routing Office, where she met her husband, where he was a United States Naval Officer.
She was a congregational associate member of the Willow Street United Church of Christ.
Mrs. Kinne volunteered over 5,000 hours at the Pomona Valley Hospital Medial Center, Pomona, CA as well as being a volunteer for the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society and was former president of the Auxiliary of the Hospital, a loving wife and mother. When she lived in Maine, she was a member of the Hanover School Board, a Sunday School Superintendent at the Rumford Point Congregational Church, Rumford, ME and an avid bird watcher and gardener.
She is survived by a daughter, Sallie, wife of Michael Gilman, of Smithfield, VA; a son, Harry, III, husband of Laura Kinne of Post Mills, VT; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a sister, Sarah Sheffey of Willow Street. A sister, Violet Jane Hickerson and a brother, Joseph H. Smith, preceded her in death.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mabel's Life Celebration service from Willow Valley Manor Auditorium, 211 Willow Valley Square, Lancaster, PA on Monday at 2:00 PM. Interment in Brookside Cemetery, Watertown, NY will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Funeral Home of Fred F. Groff, Inc., 234 W. Martin J. Williams, 62, of 1982 Long Lane, Columbia died on Friday at the Susquehanna Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following an illness of 1 year.
Born in Columbia, PA he was the son of Martin V.B. and Rita Wohlferth Williams of Columbia. He was a self-employed welder having worked for various farmers and contractors in the area for over 20 years. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Columbia Fraternal Association (Owls) and the Marietta Beneficial Association. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Viet Nam War.
Surviving besides his parents are 2 sons, Benjamin Williams at home and Jason Watts of Jacksonville, FL; 2 daughters, Bonnie, wife of Darren Mills and Monica, wife of George Kloury, both of Jacksonville, FL. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Timothy R., husband of Cindy Williams of Columbia, Charles D. Williams of Manheim, Dennis M., husband of Pat Williams of Manheim, Robert S. Williams of York and Jon F., husband of Chris Williams of Elizabethtown. Margaret S. "Sis," wife of John Good, Theresa M., wife of Merrill Hess and Kathleen A. "Kitty," wife of Charles M. Logan, all of Columbia, Mary R., wife of Dennis Brandt of Mount Joy and Rita E. Williams of Lancaster, PA. He also had 6 grandchildren.

Kumari K. Lingan, 41, of 111 Red Oak Drive, Lancaster, died at home on Friday morning.
She was the wife of Lingan Somaskandan. Born in Colombo, Western Province, Sri Lanka; she was the daughter of Ester Rani John of Sri Lanka and the late John Peter.
She was a homemaker and attended the Mellinger Mennonite Church.
Surviving besides her husband and mother are three daughters, Brindha, Sugantha and Ajantha Lingan, all at home and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Somaskandan and Rathnapoopathy of Sri Lanka.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 10, at 6:00 PM at the Mellinger Mennonite Church, 1916 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster. Interment in the adjoining church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Lingan home from the time of this announcement until Sunday at 2:00 PM and at the church on Sunday from 5:00 PM until the time of the service. Naomi E. Hess

Naomi E. Hess, 78, of Pleasant View Retirement Village in Manheim, died Thursday. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin G. and Anna Minerva (Smith) Hess.
Miss Hess graduated from Penn Manor High School in 1944 and from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. She worked at Elizabethtown Hospital for Children and Youth and later at Hershey Medical Center as a pediatric registered nurse.
She is survived by one brother, Elvin S., husband of Miriam R. Hess of Manheim.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday, April 11 at Gundel Funeral Home, 415 N. Duke Street, Lancaster. Interment will follow at Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.

Genevieve E. Ressler
Genevieve Ressler, 78, Ephrata, died April 8, 2005, in Maple Farm Nursing Center.
Born Dec. 24, 1926, in Ephrata, a daughter of Samuel M. and Margaret E. (Peiffer) Hackman. Her husband, Richard G., died Feb. 5, 1998. She last worked at Sears in Park City, Lancaster, and had worked 22 years as a waitress at Howard Johnson's & Zinn's Diner, Denver. A member of Ephrata Golden Years Club, Breathe with Ease Club, Lancaster, and group exercise at Ephrata Rec. Center, she also enjoyed bingo and traveling.
Surviving: son, Ricky L. (Joanne M. Weik) Ressler, Ephrata; grandson, Sean Rollman, Pittsburgh; great-grandchildren, Justin and Lindsey Rollman, Pittsburgh; sister, Rhoda Heister, Reinholds; brothers, Carl E.Hackman, Myerstown; J. Ronald and Elwood D. Hackman, both Ephrata and Jerry L. Hackman, Wernersville. Also predeceasing her: son, Jeffrey Lynn Ressler; daughter, Jee-Anne Bauman; grandchildren, Tanya Anne and Brian Bauman; sisters, Mary Jane Adams and Nancy Trostle and brothers, Samuel P., Franklin P. and Harold Hackman.

Elva M. Walters
Elva May Walters, 85, of 407 Redwood Drive, Lancaster, died Saturday evening, April 9, 2005 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center.
She was the wife of Theodore R. Walters, with whom she was marriage 67 years on March 12.
Elva was a homemaker. She enjoyed doing all types of domestic work and being with her family.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin H. and Hilda M. Romick Witmer.
She was a former member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving is one son, Theodore E. Walters, marriage to Sue, of Columbia; one daughter, Joan M. Walters, of Lancaster and two grandsons, Bruce and Shawn.
Funeral Services will be held at the Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home, 320 Blue Rock Road, Route 999, Millersville, PA on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 2 PM. Interment will be in the Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster, PA. Friends may call at Scheid's on Tuesday between 1:30 and 2 PM. Kindly omit flowers. John R. "Bob" Leber

John R. "Bob" Leber, of 315 N. Fourth St., Wrightsville, died Friday evening of natural causes at Hospice of Lancaster County. He was the husband of Marion Spence Leber, his wife of 57 years.
Born in Wrightsville, he was the son of the late John and Ida Fahringer Leber. He retired in 1980 after 30 years of service from Amtrak where he worked as a block operator. Bob was a US Army veteran of WWII serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Operations.
In addition to his wife are his daughters, Christine A. Leber, wife of Gary M. Shoemaker, York, Roxana J., wife of Jeffrey L. Heindel, Airville and Teresa K., wife of Raymond Hersey of York. 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and a brother, David, husband of Patricia Leber of Lancaster also survive.
Funeral services will be held from the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut St., Columbia, PA on Tuesday at 2:00PM with his son-in-law, Jeffrey L. Heindel and grandson, Aaron Heindel, officiating. Interment in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday on hour prior to the service.
