Sadie L. Gehman, 94, formerly of Adamstown, died Saturday evening in Ephrata Manor. Born in Brecknock Twp., Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Katie (Lesher) Weinhold. Her husband Charles L. Gehman died in 1981.
Surviving are her daughters, Shirley G. Kline and Elaine F. (Roger F.) Ream both of Ephrata; 6 grandchildren, Michael (Jody) Ream, Todd (Kim) Ream, Susan (Greg) Snyder, Ross (Lisa) Kline, Kelly (Troy) Fox and Karl Kline; 11 great grandchildren and a sister, Catherine Bryant of Lancaster. Bertha was preceded in death by 16 brothers and sisters. She operated the diner at George W. Bollman Hat Co., Adamstown for 37 years. She was a member of Peace U.C.C., Swartzville, the Elderberry Group of the Church, and she loved cooking, playing cards and knitting.
Memorial Service Wednesday 7:00PM in the Donecker Chapel of Ephrata Manor, 99 Bethany Rd., Ephrata with Rev. William E. Hoch officiating. Private Inurnment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Adamstown. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-7PM. The family prefers memorial contributions in Sadie's memory be made to the charity of your choice.
Carl Samuel Cook Jr.

Carl Samuel Cook, Jr., 23, of 150 West Hall Road, Lincoln University, PA died unexpectedly Saturday morning at Fair Acres, Lima, PA. He was the son of Deborah Davis Chapman of Lincoln University and Carl S. Cook, Sr. of Fox River Grove, IL. Carl enjoyed playing music and fishing.
Surviving beside his parents are two sisters, Charlene M. Cook of Fox River Grove, IL, Debra L. Cook of Quarryville; a maternal grandmother, Rena Davis of Lincoln University; paternal grandparents, Carl Edward and Mary Ann Cook of Aston, PA and a nephew, Alexander H. Weeks, IV of Quarryville.
Funeral services will be held from the Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Wednesday at 2:00PM. Interment will be in Little Britain Cemetery. Friends may call at Reynolds Funeral Home on Tuesday from 7-9:00 PM and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Please omit flowers. Allen B. Killian
Allen B. Killian, 88, of Beverly Manor, Lancaster, formerly of New Holland, died Saturday, April 9, 2005 after a lengthy illness at the Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster.
Born in New Holland, he was the son of the late Allen S. and Tweeda Brimmer Killian. He celebrated his 67th wedding anniversary on Dec. 24 to E. Pauline Yunginger Killian.
Mr. Killian worked first as a Coal Dealer and later for the School District of Lancaster in mail delivery for 35 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Paul s United Methodist Church, Mountville and a former member of Christ United Methodist Church of Lancaster, and also the New Holland United Methodist Church. He loved cars, motorcycles, walking, Phillies baseball, Eagles football and good humor.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Judy A. Killian of Lancaster; two sons, Terry A., marriage to Ginny Ressler Killian of Mountville and Donald M. Killian of Aston; two grandchildren, Melanie and Chad Killian and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death is a brother, Howard Lloyd Killian.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 7:30 PM at St. Anne s Retirement Community Chapel, 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia, PA 17512 with Fr. Paul Bola Oya officiating. Friends may call at St. Anne s Chapel on Tuesday 6:30 7:30 PM. A second memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 East Main Street, New Holland with the Reverend John Cordes officiating. Alaina Elizabeth Forry
Alaina Elizabeth Forry, infant daughter of Stephen and Colleen Cronin Forry, of 4661 Fahringer Drive, York, died Saturday April 9th, 2005 at Women and Babies Hospital Lancaster. She was born on April 7th, 2005.
She is survived by her parents and a brother, Zachariah David Forry; maternal grandparents, Kevin Cronin of Taunton, MA and Sharon Lynch of Natick, MA; maternal great grandmother, Shirley Valukis of Bellingham, MA; paternal grandparents are Mark and Susan Meyers Forry of Mount Joy; paternal great grandparents, Reuben and Ruth Eby Myers of Dallas Center, IA and Susan Ida Sauder Forry of Mount Joy. Also surviving is a maternal aunt, Kelley Cronin, of Taunton, MA; two paternal uncles, Timothy and Maria Hurst Forry of Lititz and Benjamin and Yvette Stoltzfus Forry of Mount Joy; also two paternal aunts, Amy and Laura Forry, both of Mount Joy.
A reception honoring Alaina s life will be held at the Landisville Mennonite Church, 3320 Bowman Rd, Landisville on Friday, April 15th, 2005 from 6:30 PM to 8 PM. Graveside services for Alaina will be private and held at the convenience of the Forry family in Silver Springs Cemetery, West Hempfield Twp. Juanita May Hendricks Helt

Juanita May Hendricks Helt, 61, of 419 E. Main St., Ephrata, formerly of Edwardsville, Michigan died at Heart of Lancaster Hospital, Lititz late Sunday after several months illness.
She was born in Mishiwaka, Indiana the daughter of the late Morton and Ilene Fox Hendricks. She was particularly proud of her American Indian heritage as great granddaughter of the Chief of the Fox-Cherokee Tribe in Kentucky.
Juanita was baptized in the Hope United Methodist Church in Ephrata. She was a factory worker as well as a homemaker. She was last employed at Modineer Mobile Home Mfg. Co. in Niles, Michigan. She was formerly a Brownie Girl Scout Leader in Ephrata.
Surviving are daughters, Ronita B. Weise of Denver, Lisa M., wife of Robert May with whom she resided and Juanita Renee Helt of Niles, Michigan; a son Ronald Lee Weise, Jr., husband of Deborah Brandt Weise of Denver; six grandchildren; one great granddaughter; a sister, Ruth, wife of Glenn Gassert of Reading and a brother, Cecil, husband of Miyo Kota Hendricks of Aiea, Oahu, Hawaii.
A memorial service will be held at the Ephrata Church of the Nazarene, 110 Durlach Rd, Ephrata on Thursday at 2PM with Rev. Sandy M. Sisler officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery. There will be no viewing but friends are invited to a visitation at the church for one hour prior to the service. Gravenor Service 733-6181.
Merle E. Black Jr.
Merle E. Black, Jr., formerly of Elizabethtown, died on Friday, April 15, 2005 at Brethren Village, where he had resided since May, 2000 after moving from Elizabethtown. Born on April 23, 1923, he was the son of Merle and Mildred Black of Bendersville, PA.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, the former Louise Baugher and his children: Alan C. Black of Elizabethtown, husband of Linda Widmaier, Phyllis Black MacDonald of Roanoke, VA, wife of Russell C. MacDonald; Merle Edward Black, III of Cincinnati, Ohio, husband of Suzanne B. Black, Carolyn Black-Sotir of Baltimore, MD, wife of Michael A Sotir and Barbara Joanne Black of Saratoga Springs, NY, wife of James A. Hill. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren; his brother, Paul E. Black of Bryceville, Florida and a sister, Dorothy Bosak of Bendersville.
Following three years in the U.S. Army's 43rd Finance Cadre with service in England and France, he graduated from Elizabethtown College in 1947 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. In high school and college he was active in sports and community activities.
Mr. Black's career in banking spanned more than three decades. He was the Chief Executive Officer with the Elizabethtown Trust Company until it merged with Farmers First Bank where he served as Senior Nice President, with the added responsibility for supervising the Central and Western Retail Banking Regions until his retirement in 1988.
His professional and civic memberships included Vice Chairman, Lancaster County Board of Assistance; Board Member and Treasurer, Lancaster County Vocational and Technical Authority; Board and Past President, Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the Bankers Association Institute; Pennsylvania Bankers Legislative Board; President, Lancaster County Bankers Association; Director, Farmers First Bank; President, Elizabethtown Rotary Club; President, Elizabethtown College's Lancaster Alumni Association; Board Member, Lancaster County Boy Scout Council; Treasurer, Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren; President and Founding Member, Elizabethtown Little League; Board Member, Farmers' Mutual Insurance Company; Board Member, Elizabethtown Preservation Associates, Inc.; President, Ten-Twenty Investment Syndicate. Mr. Black's memberships also included the Abraham C. Treichler Lodge No. 682, F. and AM; the Lancaster Lodge of Pennsylvania; the High Twelve Club No. 629; the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Council, Valley of Harrisburg, PA; the Elizabethtown American Legion; the Yellow Breeches Anglers and Conservation Association and the Elizabethtown Conewago Home Association.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Service to be held on Saturday, April 23, 2005 at 3 PM in the Church of the Brethren, 777 South Mount Joy Street, Elizabethtown. Robert P. Lawrence
Robert P. Lawrence, 35, of 1549 Manor Blvd., Lancaster, died unexpectedly, Sunday, April 10, 2005 at home.
He was the fiancé of Tracy L. McComsey, with whom he resided.
He had worked as a technician for County Mechanical.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Robert A. and Pauline M. Swope Lawrence, of Millersville.
He attended Living Hope Community Church, Lancaster. He was a 1987 graduate of Penn Manor High School. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and spending time with his son, Elliot.
He will be lovingly missed by his fiancé. Surviving in addition to his parents is one son, Elliot S., at home; two brothers, Michael A. Lawrence, of Millersville and Corey A. Lawrence, fiancé of Debra F. Eisenberg, of Denver and a paternal grandmother, Ruth E. Lawrence, of Landisville.
Funeral Services will be held at the Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home, 320 Blue Rock Road, Route 999, Millersville, PA on Friday, April 15, 2005 at 10 AM with Pastor Richard L. Landis officiating. David F. Irwin Jr.

David F. Irwin, Jr., 53 of 987 Hilldale Rd., Holtwood, died at his home on Sunday evening.
Born in Marietta, the son of David F. Sr. and Vernetta Mae Smith Irwin who reside in Peach Bottom. David and his wife, Wanda L. Nickel Irwin celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary last July. He worked for High Steel as a laborer. An avid outdoorsman enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving besides his wife and parents are 1 daughter, Tessa D. of Holtwood; 2 sons, Troy D. of Willow Street and David F. III of Columbia; 2 grandchildren, Mercedes and Marcus; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
A graveside service will be on Thursday at 10:00 in Quarryville Cemetery, 693 Robert Fulton Hwy, Quarryville. Friends may visit the family following the service.
