Mary Ranck, 89, of 5070 Diem Road, New Holland, formerly of Akron, died Wednesday, April 4, at the home of her daughter with whom she resided. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul J. Ranck in 1984. Born in Fairmount, West Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Sadie (Mease) Burkholder. She was a member of Grace Fellowship Church of Ephrata, and a member of the Ladies Missionary Society and Bible Study. Mary was a caregiver for her family and at Maple Farms Nursing Center. She enjoyed flea marketing and had several stands at different Markets. Surviving are a son, James L., marriage to Brenda Ranck of Akron, daughters Roberta L. marriage to Ramon Royer, New Holland; Alice J. marriage to James Peryer, Farmersville; and Nancy Schueftan, Media; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Crissie Singer, New Holland. She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Abram, and Wesley Burkholder, and three sisters, Ada Martin, Alice Leaman, and Elmira Burkholder. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 11 AM at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with Pastor Frank Rice officiating. Interment will be in Ranck’s United Methodist Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 to 11 AM. Kindly omit flowers. Phyllis L. (Gouse) McCarty, 73, of 1695 Lenape Road, West Chester, formerly of Coatesville and Terre Hill, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Pocopson Home in West Chester. Born in Terre Hill, she is the daughter of the late Fred and Myrtle (Binkley) Gouse. She was marriage 53 years to Harold S. McCarty. She worked for 17 years for the former Ideal Laundry in Coatesville and was baptized a Methodist. In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Dennis at home; and a brother Russel, marriage to Nancy Gouse of Manheim. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 7 at 10 am at Terre Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Nevin Andes officiating. Arrangements by Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill.

Steven R. Delgado, 18, beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to many, of 1307 Springville Road, East Earl, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 1, 2007 at Hershey Medical Center. Born in Ephrata, he is the son of Edwin and Diane (Eby) Delgado of East Earl. Steven was a senior at Garden Spot High School and a member of Bethany Grace Fellowship. He enjoyed playing drums on the Church worship team and also he played for the High School Band. He had been working at Eby’s Store in Martindale. He enjoyed playing paintball and video games. Surviving in addition to his parents is a sister, Alycia Delgado of Ephrata; a brother, Andrew Delgado at home; maternal grandmother, Jane (Buckwalter) Eby of Terre Hill; paternal grandparents, Jose and Ana Maria (Ortiz) Delgado of Aibonito, Puerto Rico; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5 at 2 pm from Bethany Grace Fellowship, 400 Reading Road, East Earl with the Reverend Leon R. Shirk, the Reverend Todd E. Henley, and the Reverend Heriberto Delgado officiating. Interment in adjoining Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the Church on Wednesday from 6-9 pm and on Thursday from 1-2 pm. Elam K. Petersheim, 79, of 1580 Morgantown Rd., Morgantown, died Friday March 30, 2007 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Lois (Stoltzfus) Petersheim. Together they shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Caernarvon Twp., Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Jonathan and Barbara (Kurtz) Petersheim. Elam was a life-long dairy farmer, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Conestoga Mennonite Church where he had been a former assistant church treasurer, treasurer for the Building Committee, and treasurer for the Conestoga Christian School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening and was a member of the Buck Hollow Hunting Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Sheryl marriage to Tim Ehst, Bally; Robert marriage to Cindy (Hess) Petersheim, Morgantown; Richard marriage to Betty (Stoltzfus) Petersheim, TN; Ralph marriage to Sheila (Fairbairn) Petersheim and Jon marriage to Stacy (Juetten) Petersheim, all of WI; 23 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three brothers: Leroy, Joseph, and Floyd Petersheim. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 10 AM at the Conestoga Mennonite Church with Pastor Alvin Horning, Pastor James Hertzler, and Robert Petersheim officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday from 7 to 9 PM and on Tuesday from 8:30 to 10 AM. Kindly omit flowers. Charles H. 'Chuck' King, 66, of Gap, died Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Lancaster General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Charles S. and Anna M. (Pratt) King. He celebrated his 32nd wedding anniversary on Nov. 9 to Sandra 'Sandy' (Burrell) King. He worked from 1973-1991 as a custodian for Coatesville Bible Fellowship where he was a former member. He was a life member of the W. Caln Sportsman’s Club and a member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting and being in the outdoors. He also served in the US Army. Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Michelle, marriage to Robert Bell, Sr. of New Holland, Brenda, marriage to Michael Sult of Narvon, Brian, marriage to Lori (Smith) King of New Holland, Michael King of Tenn., and Tracy Cavella of Winter Haven, FL; seven grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters, Kenneth King of Duncansville, James King of Millsboro, DE, Ruth Ann Lawrence of Churchtown, Martha Harvey and Nancy Jane Moore both of Downingtown, Robert Eshleman of Malvern, and John Eshleman of Novi, MI. Funeral services will be held on Mon., April 2 at 10 am at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with the Reverend Titus Kauffman officiating. Marvin M. Weaver, 74, of Stevens, died Thursday, March 29, 2007 at his home following a three-year illness. Born in East Earl Twp., he was the son of the late William G. and Anna (Martin) Weaver. He was employed by Lukens Steel for 41 years, retiring in 1997 as an Electric Furnace Supervisor. Marvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. Surviving is his long-time companion, Joann Huneryagar and his children: Paula Stauffer, West Lawn; Terry marriage to Cathy Weaver, Bowmansville; Vicki Lupold, Ephrata; and Robin marriage to Louwana Weaver, Lancaster; eight grandchildren; two great-grandsons; a brother, Harlan Weaver, Elwyn, PA, and three sisters: Mabel Petersheim, Ephrata; Pauline Johnson, East Earl; and Anna Ruth Spotts, Womelsdorf. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Weaver; a daughter Abby Weaver, and a brother, Raymond Weaver. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 2, 2007 at 10 AM at the Weaverland Mennonite Cemetery with Chaplain Glenn Beard officiating. Immediately following the graveside service, a celebration of Marvin’s life will be held at the New Holland American Legion, 37 S. Hoover Ave., New Holland. Richard L. Hurst, 75, formerly of 944 Centerville Rd., East Earl died Wednesday at the United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz. He is survived by his wife, Janet (Steffy) Hurst. They would have celebrated their 56th anniversary on May 12. Born in Beartown, he was the son of the late Mary Holland. Richard had been a mechanic for 22 years for John Ewell Trucking. Following his retirement, he worked part-time at J. B. Zimmerman & Sons Hardware. He was a member of Cedar Lane Chapel. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Rick Hurst, Akron; Sherman marriage to Cathy Ann (Rollman) Hurst, New Holland; Glenn Hurst, East Earl; Linda marriage to Steve Bucher, New Holland; and Creston Hurst, Reno, NV; a granddaughter, Heather; a great grandson, Blaze; and two brothers: Bill Holland, Montoursville and Donald Holland, Morgantown. His funeral will be held on Monday, April 2, 2007 at 2:30 PM at the United Zion Chapel, 722 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz with Pastor Marlin Martin and Chaplain Ethan Levengood officiating. Interment will be in Terre Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held in the chapel on Monday from 1 to 2:30 PM. Kindly omit flowers.
