Ruth Mae Bramble, 79, of 493 Kirks Mill Road, Nottingham, Pa died on Monday, July 10, 2006 at her home. She was the wife of Frank C. Bramble, and they had celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Ruth had worked as an L.P.N. and as a charge nurse in the pediatrics department of the Sacred Heart Hospital in Chester, Pa. retiring in 1982.
Ruth was born in New Castle, Delaware, daughter of the late William and Ruth Gentsch Nickerson, and her late step father Willard Congleton. She was a member of Little Britain Presbyterian Church, Peach Bottom.
She was an avid painter, accomplished in oils and acrylics. She also enjoyed needle work and had made doll cloths for several doll manufacturers. Ruth attended the Quarryville Senior Center, and had formerly been a Girl Scout leader.
She is survived by her husband Frank C. of Nottingham, PA, her daughter’s; Carole, marriage to Robert Brantner of Wilmington, DE, Eileen, marriage to Russell Quillin of Georgetown, Pa, 3 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother William Nickerson.
The Funeral Service will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Friday, July 14, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in Lawncroft Cemetery, Linwood, Pa... Visitation will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home on Thursday from 7:00-9:00 PM.
Mary R. Brubaker
Mary R. Druck Brubaker 84, of Kirkwood, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2006, at her home. Born in Kirkwood, she was the daughter of the late Guy F. and Mary E. Herr. Mrs. Brubaker was a life long member of Colerain Baptist Church. She enjoyed being with her family, country music, and making ceramic crafts. Her favorite past time was embroidery.
Her first husband, Kenneth M. Druck, preceded Mrs. Brubaker in death after 48 years of marriage. Her second husband, John W. Brubaker, also preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter, Doris Joan Rowe marriage to Robert Rowe of Nottingham; three sons, Gordon K. marriage to Regina, Jerry M. marriage to Betty, both of Kirkwood, Pa and Larry A. marriage to Carol of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Fred M. Herr, marriage to Grace of Quarryville; 9 grandchildren and 18 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, her sister, Pearl E. McMinn and her brothers, Guy 'Jerry' M. and Harold B. Herr.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service, at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, Pa. Private interment in the Colerain Baptist Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call for a visitation and viewing one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
John L. Carter
John L. Carter, age 58, of 333 Conowingo Road, Quarryville, PA died at Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster, PA of natural causes on October 16, 2006. He was the widower of Anna S. 'Pat' Hawthorne Cater who died March 23, 2006. He was born in Havre de Grave, MD, a son of the late Charles Dever and Ruth E. Janney Carter.
John retired in February from the Lancaster County Prison where he was employed as a corrections officer for 26 years. He was a US Army veteran. John was a member of American Legion Post #0047 in Havre de Grace, MD, member of the National Street Rod Association, and the Southern Lancaster Co. Farmers Sportsman Assoc.
He is survived by three daughters, Lisa L.C. marriage to Ted L. Janney of Quarryville, Margaret marriage to Leonard Pitts of Conowingo, MD, Sara Jane Kirby of North East, MD; a son John T. Carter of Elkton, MD; a brother Charles death by a son John 'Tom' Interment will follow in the Angle Hill Cemetery, Havre de Grace, MD Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 6-9 PM., and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Chester A. Borkland
Chester A. Borkland, Sr, 89, of, 300 Willow Valley Lakes Drive Willow Street, Pa, formerly of Glenolden, Pa died on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Lettie Smith Borkland, and they had celebrated 67 years of marriage.
Chester was an engineer for Westinghouse Electric in Chester Pa, retiring in 1982 after 40 years of service.
He was a member of Lansdowne Lodge #711 F. &A.M., Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield. Pa, Media Heights Golf Club, Lancaster, PA, and the Pine Lakes Golf Club, Palm Coast, Fl.
He is survived by; his wife Lettie S. of Willow Street, Pa., son Chester, Jr., marriage to Nancy Borkland, of Springfield, Pa, grandchildren; Brian and Sean O’Neal, son-in-law Dr. John O’Neal, and a brother Leonard A. marriage to Margaret Borkland of Avalon, NJ. He was predeceased by his daughter Barbara A. O’Neal.

George O. Clark
George O. Clark, 84, of 100 McNanee Lane, Rising Sun, Maryland, died on Monday, December 26, 2005 at Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford, PA. He was the husband of the late Miriam G. Clark who died in 1987. Mr. Clark was Truck Driver, for Jones Motor Freight. He was a member of Faggs Manor Presbyterian Church. He was born in West Grove, son of the late J. Oscar and Marion Spencer Clark. He is survived by his brother James Clark of Belair, MD, and his sister Margaret Norgren of Willow Street, PA. The Funeral Service will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Vernon Myers officiating. Burial will be in Faggs Manor Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Irene Deaver
Irene G. Deaver, 78, of 809 North Duke Street, Lancaster, formerly of New Providence, PA died on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at her home. Irene had been employed by the Dart Container Co., Lancaster retiring in 1989, and had also worked for Ferguson & Hassler Food Market in the deli department until 1998. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and playing Bingo at the Quarryville Senior Center. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Quarryville.
Irene was born in Little Britain Twp. PA, daughter of the late John and Margaret Pennington Greer. She is survived by her daughter Lynn I. Yohn of Lancaster, PA, her granddaughters Melanie McDevitt, and Amy K. Yohn, and her 3 great granddaughters. The Funeral Service will be held at Memorial United Methodist Church, 109 South Hess Street, Quarryville on Saturday, December 31, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor John Longmire officiating. Betty G. Deiter
Betty G. Deiter, 67, of 1405 Lakeview Dr., Drumore, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at Hospice of Lancaster County, after a lengthy illness. Born in Lancaster County on July 6, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Chester H. and Mary Rineer Graver. She is survived by her husband Glenn H. Deiter, and they had celebrated 46 years of marriage. She is also survived by three daughters – Patty Deiter of Millersville, Cindy, wife of Dennis Brubaker of Willow Street and Jody, wife of Tim Herb of Denton, MD and four grandchildren – Candace and Derek Brubaker and Kenneth and Glenn Herb. She is also survived by a brother, Charles C. Graver, a brother, Donald C. Graver both of Holtwood and a sister, Mary Ann Farmer of New Providence.
Betty was a long time member of the Bethesda U. M. Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher, Bible School coordinator and secretary to the board. She and her husband Glenn also initiated the annual Thanksgiving dinner which was provided as an outreach to the community. For many years, she served with the boarding house ministry of the Rawlinsville Camp Meeting.
Her employment experiences included working as a cafeteria monitor at the Drumore Elementary School, as a driver for the Shultz Transportation Co., a secretary with the Educator’s Mutual Life Insurance Co. and most recently as a driver for senior citizens with Ecshbach Bus Service.
She served as a Bethel Guardian for Job’s Daughters, Bethel 14 of Quarryville and as Grand Guardian for the International Order of Job’s Daughters of Pennsylvania. She was also a member of Robert Fulton Chapter 446 of Quarryville, Order of Eastern Star.
Betty enjoyed sewing, embroidery and reading. She loved spending time with her four grandchildren and supporting them in their school and church activities.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service on Wednesday, February 8, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. from the Grace Church at Willow Valley, 300 Willow Valley Square, Lancaster, PA. Friends are invited to attend the graveside service on Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. at Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hilldale Road, Holtwood, PA. A viewing will be held Tuesday, from 6:00-8:30 PM from the Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA. The family will also greet friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the church.
