Ralph L. Fox, 32, of 455 California Rd., Morgantown, died Sunday, March 25, 2007 at Hershey Medical Center following a four-year battle with cancer. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of Mervin W. and Edna M. (Martin) Fox, with whom he resided. Ralph worked for Sprint, now Embarq in computer networking until his health no longer permitted him to work. Prior to that, he had worked at Garden Spot Village in security. He was a graduate of Garden Spot High School and enjoyed playing online computer games. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Crystal marriage to Brian Durham, Narvon; two nieces: Jessica and Ruby; maternal grandparents, Weaver and Esther Martin, East Earl; and a paternal grandmother, Margaret Fox, Terre Hill. His funeral will be held at 10 AM on Friday, March 30, 2007 at Lichty Mennonite Church with Pastor Clair Long officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM and at the church on Friday from 9 to 10 AM. Kindly omit flowers. Robert W. Lieb

Robert W. Lieb, 84, of 11 Rose Ct., New Holland, formerly of Broomall, died Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William A. and Elsie (Riechert) Lieb. He was marriage 58 years on June 19 to Edna M. (Stiefel) Lieb. He owned and operated William A. Lieb & Son Plumbing and Heating in West Philadelphia, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, New Holland, he served in the US Army during WWII, and later served in the US Reserves for 20 years. Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Lynda Tait of Grand Rapids, MI, Stephen R. Lieb of West Chester, Robert W. Lieb, Jr. of Absecon, NJ, and Gretchen Geiger of Newark, DE; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a brother, Theodore J. Lieb of Naples, FL. Preceding him in death is a sister, Theresa Bonkoski. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 29 at 2 pm at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557 with the Reverend Eric Ritz officiating. Visitation will be held at GSV Chapel from 1-2 pm. Eva W. Zimmerman, 81 of 333 Wheatridge Dr., Ephrata, formerly of 591 Martindale Road, Ephrata and Lebanon County, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 24, 2007 at her home. Born in Ephrata, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Susan (Weiler) Zimmerman. She was a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church and had worked as a seamstress at Ship and Shore Blouse Factory in Newmanstown for many years. Most recently she had worked for Nurses Available of Lancaster. Surviving are four brothers, John, marriage to Emma (Hurst) Zimmerman of Myerstown, Amos, marriage to Emma (Hoover) Zimmerman of Akron, Aaron, marriage to Barbara (Yordy) Zimmerman of Tennessee, and Ray, marriage to Elsie (Zimmerman) Zimmerman of Ephrata; and a sister, Ada, marriage to Thomas Sadler of Bethel. Preceding her in death are two sisters, Martha Nolt and Nettie Martin; and a brother, Eli Zimmerman. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 29 at 10 am at the Martindale Mennonite Church, 171 Hurst Road, Ephrata with the Reverends Dave Sensenig, Eugene Weaver, and Matt Martin officiating. Betty Jane Houck

Betty Jane Houck, 79, of 5290 Paes Road, New Holland, died Friday, March 23, 2007 at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center. Born in Narvon, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Woodward) Devine. Her first husband, William McGinnis, died in 1951, and her second husband, Jacob A. Houck, died in 1977. She was a homemaker and a member of Meadville Mennonite Church where she enjoyed attending and singing. She also enjoyed playing Bingo. She will be lovingly missed by a step son, Earl R. Houck of Narvon; four sons, William McGinnis of East Earl, James K., Sr., marriage to Kathryn McGinnis of Narvon, Charles Houck, and Jacob, marriage to Regina Houck, both of New Holland; 19 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and a sister Sadie Weller of New Holland. Preceding her in death are three sons, George and Arthur McGinnis, and Gerald Houck; a brother, Tom Devine; and a sister Violet 'Tud' Hurst. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 27 at 10 am at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland, with the Reverend John D. Meck officiating. Interment will be in the Ranck’s United Methodist Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the Groff-High Funeral Home on Monday 6-8 pm and on Tuesday 9-10 am. Esther M. Hertzler, 81, of 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, formerly of Elverson, died Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Garden Spot Village. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer K. Hertzler in 2003. Born in Atglen, she was the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Ada (Stoltzfus) King and the step-daughter of the late Leah (Engle) King. She was a homemaker and a member of Christian Fellowship Church. She had also volunteered at Ephrata Community Hospital and Tel Hai Camp and was a listener for Release Time at Brecknock Elementary School. Esther also enjoyed cooking, quilting, and gardening. Surviving are her children: Marcella marriage to Mike Willoughby, New Holland, Susan A. Hertzler, Lincoln, NE; Merle E. marriage to Dawn (Algier) Hertzler, West Chester; Joseph D. marriage to Laurie (Weber) Hertzler and Betty Jean marriage to Gerald Eberly, all of East Earl; and 11 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 26, 2007 at 11 AM at Christian Fellowship Church, 758 Spruce Rd., New Holland with Pastor Fred Raupp and Pastor David Horst officiating. Floyd A. Parmer

Floyd A. Parmer, 74, of 309 Broad St., Terre Hill, died Friday, March 16, 2007 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife and loving mother of their six children, Patricia (Newpher) Parmer in 2005, shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary. Born in Blue Ball, he was the so of the late John W. and Mabel (Johnson) Parmer. Floyd served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict from January 1951 to January 1954. His career spanned 41 ½ years in sales and as sales manager at New Holland Concrete. From 1960 to 1972, he also served the Borough of Terre Hill as the Justice of the Peace. He was active in church and community organizations. In his church, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Terre Hill, he taught Sunday School classes for 18 years and at some time or other, held every office available to a layman. Floyd served on the Board of Directors of Garden Spot High School and the Terre Hill High School. Additionally, he served for 30 years as chairman of the Terre Hill Borough Planning Commission and was appointed to the original commission that formed the Comprehensive Plan and the Zoning Ordinances that exist today. He also designed and oversaw the construction of the New Holland VFW building at Greenbank and the Terre Hill Park Bandshell. Professionally, he served on the Board of Directors of the PA Concrete Masonry Association for 12 years in both the capacity of President and Chairman of the Board. Floyd also served on the Ephrata Community Hospital Board of Directors and continued his involvement with the hospital as a volunteer in the Rehab. Department. He is survived by his children: Jill marriage to Richard Martin, Intercourse; Jack husband of Kristin (Peffer) Parmer, Millersville; Jan marriage to Robert Wenrich, Adamstown; Julia Parmer partner of Janet Murray, Key West, FL; Jennifer marriage to Richard Weber, Terre Hill; Jonathan marriage to Jacie (Townsley) Parmer, Clay; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 10 AM at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 105 W. Main St., Terre Hill with Pastor Nevin R. Andes officiating. Private interment will be in the Terre Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 9 to 10 AM. Antoinette V. Polk, 88 of New Holland, Pa, formerly of Fair Haven and Toms River, N.J. peacefully passed away March 15 at Ephrata Community Hospital, Ephrata, Pa. Antoinette retired in 1979 after 25 years of civil service work at Ft. Monmouth, N.J. In 1999 she moved to New Holland, Pa. to be close to her daughters Arleen Brighton & her husband Bill and Barbara Stewart. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony Polk in 1990. She is survived by her daughters; four grandsons; David and Clifford Brighton, both of Lancaster County, Pa.; Eric and Jason Stewart of Houston, Texas; and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held 11 AM March 22 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, New Holland, Pa.
