William A. Biehn

William A. Biehn, age 80, formerly of Philadelphia and Wilmington, DE died Monday, April 23, 2007 at Garden Spot Village. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane (Ireland) Biehn in 2000. A diesel mechanic for 30 years, he serviced and repaired all types of Cummins diesel engines. Bill was a member of the Reilly Raiders Alumni Drum & Bugle Corp. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. Surviving is a brother, Walter marriage to Carolyn Biehn, New Holland; a niece, Janette Araya; and nephews, Walter and Alan Biehn. His funeral will be held on Friday, April 27, 2007 at 11 AM at the Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland with Chaplain Harold Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Eby Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 AM at the Chapel. Flowers or memorial contributions are optional and may be sent to the American Parkinson Disease Association, J. Louis Blumberg Chapter, 322 Gerard Ave., Elkins Park, PA 19027. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of arrangements.

Martha J. Smucker
2007-04-23
Martha J. Smucker, 3, of 6251 Division Hwy., Narvon, died Monday, April 23, 2007 at Hershey Medical Center. Born in Narvon, she was the daughter of Ivan S. and Esther S. (Stoltzfus) Smucker. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Lydia Mae and three brothers, Joseph, Elmer, and Jacob, all at home; maternal grandparents, Samuel and Lydia Stoltzfus, Quarryville; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Naomi Smucker, Narvon; and a paternal step-great-great-grandmother, Fannie King, Ronks. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 (TODAY) at 11 AM Standard Time at her late home. Interment will follow in Mast Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from the time of this notice until the funeral. Kindly omit flowers. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill is in charge of the arrangements.

Fannie H. Sauder
2007-04-21
Fannie H. Sauder, 99, of 344 Shirktown Road, Narvon, died Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the home of her daughter, Edna Zimmerman, in Ephrata after a brief illness. Born in Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late David M. and Mary Ann (High) Fox. Her husband, Samuel N. Sauder, died in 1958. She was a homemaker and a member of Churchtown Old Order Mennonite Church. Surviving are two sons, David F., marriage to Esther (Nolt) Sauder of Narvon, and Samuel F., marriage to Bertha (Hurst) Sauder of Narvon; and seven daughters, Anna F. Martin of Myerstown, Lydia F., marriage to Elmer B. Leid of New Holland, Mary F., marriage to Jonas Z. Nolt of Leola, Ella F., marriage to Harvey Newswanger of Narvon, Edna F., marriage to David M. Zimmerman of Ephrata, Edith F., marriage to Daniel Z. Newswanger of Morgantown, and Emma F., marriage to John W. Zimmerman of East Earl; 85 grandchildren; 449 great grandchildren; 47 great-great grandchildren; three brothers, David Fox of Ephrata, J. Christ, marriage to Eva (Stauffer) Fox of Shippensburg, and Floyd, marriage to Anna Mary (Weaver) Fox of Denver; and two sisters, Edith Bailey of Akron, and Alice, marriage to John Rissler of Leola. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 25 at 8:45 am at the late home with further services at 9:30 am at Churchtown Mennonite Church with the Bishop Ben F. Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining Cemetery. Viewing will held at the late home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Kindly omit flowers. Arrangements by Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill.

Walter R. Good
2007-04-16
Walter R. Good, 90, of 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, formerly of Bowmansville, died Monday, April 16, 2007 at Garden Spot Village. Born in Brecknock Twp., Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Harry and Ada (Gamber) Good. He was marriage to Lizzie (Burkhart) Good who died in 1944, Ruth M. (Petershiem) Good who died in 1984, and Lucy W. (Martin) Good who died in 2003. He worked from 1945 until his retirement in 1978 as a farm machinery mechanic with Kurtz International Harvester in Morgantown. He also owned Good’s Retreat in Adamstown until 1977. He was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church where he served as trustee, and he enjoyed hunting, gardening, antiques, and old coins. Surviving are four children, Glenn L., marriage to Faye E. (Weaver) Good of Leola, W. Richard, marriage to Sandra E. (Mast) Good of New Holland, Elaine, marriage to Pat Riley of Pasadena, CA, and Linford L., marriage to Velma E. (Brubaker) Good of Lancaster; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are a daughter, Ruth Ann Weatherholtz; two sisters, Minnie Fitterling and Mary Gehman; and three brothers, John, Charles, and Paul Good. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 20 at 10 am at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland with the Reverend Chester Yoder and the Bishop Wilmer Leaman officiating. Interment will be in the Bowmansville Mennonite Cemetery. Viewing will be held at Garden Spot Village Chapel on Friday from 9-10 am. Harry R. Katz
2007-04-16
Harry R. Katz, 86, of 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, died Monday, April 16, 2007 at the Ephrata Community Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola (Burza) Katz in 1999. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Richard and Freda Katz. He was a self-employed general contractor in the Philadelphia area. Harry became a Christian in his early 80’s and attended High Point Baptist Church, Geigertown. He enjoyed playing the organ, food, and making mechanical things work. He served in the Army during World War II. Surviving is a niece, Lydia marriage to Stephen McClay of Quarryville, and her daughters, Missy and Becky, who cared for him and Lola through the years and several other nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 11 AM at the Garden Spot Village Chapel. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn, PA. A viewing will be held at the chapel on Monday from 10 to 11 AM. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of arrangements.

Howard 'Denny' Kammerer
Howard 'Denny' Kammerer, 62, of 19 Camelia Lane, Holtwood, Pa, died on Monday, July 3, 2006 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Bonnie Lee Good Kammerer, and they had celebrated 40 years of marriage.
Denny was a slitter operator, and set up machines for the Alcoa Company, Lancaster, where he had worked for 39 years. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing at his summer home in Chincoteague, VA, and also enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was born in Delta, Pa,, son of the late Howard and Dorothy Smith Kammerer.
In addition to his wife Bonnie, he is survived by; his son Dennis C. marriage to Suszette Kammerer of Millersville, Pa, step daughters Tina Lee Rohrer of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa, Cindy Lee Rohrer of Holtwood, and step son Glenn R. Rohrer of Baltimore, Md, 2 grandchildren, and 3 step grandchildren. Denny was predeceased by a step grand daughter.
The Funeral Service will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in Mt. Eden Lutheran Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 A.M.

Dora A. Kachel
Dora A. Kachel, 83, of 200 North West End Ave., Lancaster, formerly of Bart, Pa, died Friday, May 12, 2006 at the Lancaster Regional Medical Center. She was the widow of Daniel H. Kachel, Sr. who died in 1985.Dora was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, and playing bingo. She was a member of Georgetown United Methodist Church. Dora was born in Chester Co., daughter of the late Levi and Mabel Boose Haldeman. She is survived by her son; Daniel H. Kachel, Jr. of Kinzer, daughter Betty, marriage to Robert Fisher of Gap, 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service from the Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Wednesday, May 17 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Michael Remel officiating. Interment in the Georgetown United Methodist Cemetery. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service.
