Bertha L. Irwin, 98, of 625 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, died on Sunday, April 9, 2006 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was the wife of the late Jesse L. Irwin who died in 1947.
Mrs. Irwin was homemaker, and farmer on the family farm. She was a member of Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church, Quarryville. She was born in Lancaster County, daughter of the late John and Bessie Probst McGuigan. Bertha enjoyed flowers and gardening, her family and family picnics. She is survived by; her son John, marriage to Joann Irwin of Strasburg, PA, son Richard Irwin of Quarryville, PA, daughter Jean, marriage to George Crouse of Quarryville, PA, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and brother James McGuigan of Lancaster, PA. She was predeceased by her son Jesse Irwin, Jr. who died Feb. 18th, 2006, 2 grand daughters, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.
The Funeral Service will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Douglas M. Hileman officiating. Burial will be in Quarryville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7:00-8:30 PM.
Jesse L. Irwin
Jesse L. Irwin, Jr., 77, of 552 Hollow Road, Quarryville, PA, died Saturday, February 18, 2006 at the Lancaster General Hospital. Jesse was a self employed farmer and taxi driver. Born in Bart Twp., PA, son of Bertha McGuigan Irwin of Quarryville, and the late Jesse L. Irwin. He was a member of the Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church, Quarryville. Jesse enjoyed attending farm sales, and cars and trucks.
In addition to his mother he is survived by 2 brothers; John, marriage to JoAnn Irwin of Strasburg, Richard Irwin of Quarryville, and a sister Jean I., marriage to George Crouse of Quarryville, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held, Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at the Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA. with Pastor’s Douglas Hileman and Robert Tanguy officiating. Burial will be in the Quarryville Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday at the funeral home from 7:00-8:30 P.M. and one half hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Laverne Irwin
Laverne Irwin, 80, of 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA, formerly of Quarryville, PA, died on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at Mennonite Homes, Lancaster. Laverne was a self employed farmer and cattle dealer.
He was born in Eden Township, PA, son of the late Charles and Mary Hamilton Irwin. He was a member of the Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church, Quarryville.
He is survived by his sisters Erma Munson, an Irene Aument, both of Lancaster.
The Funeral Service will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 9:30 A.M. Pastor Douglas M. Hileman officiating. Burial will be in Quarryville Cemetery.
Virginia M. Jackson
Virginia M. Jackson, age 88, of 259 Buck Heights Road, Quarryville, PA died Sunday, March 26, 2005 at her residence of natural causes. She was the widow of Cecil T. Jackson who died May 8, 1995. Virginia was born in Lancaster County a daughter of the late Lester and Bessie Ellville Griest.
Virginia had worked at the former Farmers Supply Store, Lancaster, operator for Bell Telephone, Hensel exchange, and the Visiting Nurses Assoc., Lancaster. She had also volunteered with the Wakefield Lions Club, and was a member of Drumore King’s Daughters, and the Farm Women’s Club. She enjoyed gardening and needlework. She was a member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, Quarryville.
She is survived by two sons; E. Thomas marriage to Rosemarie Jackson of Lancaster, Donald W. marriage to Brenda Jackson of Murphy, NC; a daughter, Mary A. Roland of Drumore; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Louise marriage to John Davis of Quarryville, Ardeth Gaus of New Providence, Naomi marriage to Ernst England of Oxford, Marion marriage to Wilson Harris of Manheim; and a brother, Albert Griest. She was preceded in death by a son, James E. Jackson and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held from Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, 1068 Chestnut Level Road, Quarryville, PA on Thursday at 10:00AM with Pastor Michael Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA from 7:00 PM-8:30 PM on Wednesday, and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Thursday. Contributions may be made in Virginia’s memory to Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 1068 Chestnut Level Road, Quarryville, PA 17566.
Pit Amelia Irmen
Pit Amelia Irmen, 77, of 1 died on Monday, April 10, 2006 at Union Hospital, Elkton, MD. She was the wife of the late Leon W. Irmen who died in 1998.
Pit was a homemaker. She attended both Good Shepherd Church, and Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She was born in Pilottown, MD, daughter of the late George and Amelia Brown Carr. She enjoyed country music, the ocean and her family.
She is survived by her son David L. marriage to Lauren Jones of Evansville, IN, her son Leroy, marriage to Betty Irmen of Quarryville, PA, her daughter Judee Amaya of NC, her daughter Melissa Irmen of Conowingo, MD, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and her sister Julia Pickett of Westminster, MD.
The Funeral Service will be held at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Pilottown Road, Peach Bottom, PA on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. Ruth A. Henry
Ruth A. Henry, 85, of Quarryville, Pa., died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the family cabin in Juniata County, with her family at her side. She was the wife of the late Harold L. Henry, who died July, 15, 1999.
'Grammy' Henry, as she was known to her family, had worked for the Solanco School District in the cafeteria, and also Commonwealth Telephone Co., and more recently as a homemaker. Ruth’s loving and giving spirit to her family, friends, and everyone she came in contact with was her real legacy. Ruth was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Quarryville. She enjoyed working in her yard, and loved spending time with her family.
She was born in E. Drumore Twp., daughter of the late Sides and Susanna Stoner McComsey. She is survived by her son H. Larry marriage to Suk Hui Henry of Williamsburg, Va, her daughter Linda, marriage to Matthew L. Young of Peach Bottom, Pa, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and her sister’s Miriam marriage to Fred Rineer and Lorraine marriage to William Lamparter both of Quarryville, Pa.
The Funeral Service will be held at Memorial United Methodist Church, 109 South Hess Street, Quarryville, Pa on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor John Longmire and Pastor Blake Deibler officiating. The burial will be in Quarryville Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Robert W. Jennings, 57, of Peach Bottom, PA, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at the Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lancaster. He was the husband of Barbara Hunter Jennings with whom he shared 33 years of marriage. Born in West Chester, he was a son of Ruby interment will be private.
