Dorothy K. Kight, age 66, of Honey Grove, PA died Wednesday morning (February 15, 2006) of natural causes at Hershey Medical Center. She and her husband, William E. Kight celebrated 43 years of marriage May 19, 1962. She was born in Lancaster County, a daughter of John Veryl and Kathleen Showers Keen. Dorothy retired in 2001from R.R. Donnelly Printing Company as a crew coordinator after 24 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Eden Lutheran Church, Quarryville. Dorothy was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and collected Eagles paraphernalia. She also enjoyed NASCAR, traveling to Texas to visit her daughter, watching her grandson play football, and her family.
Surviving beside her husband are 2 sons, John D. Rineer of Paradise, David A. marriage to Sandra J. Kight of Lancaster; 2 daughters, Judith A. marriage to Ulyses Childs of Arlington, TX, Kathleen F. Rankin of Lancaster; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 12 nieces and nephews; 2 brothers, Carl Keen and Daniel Keen, both of Quarryville; and a sister, Nancy Cunningham of Paradise. Dorothy was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Crawford, a niece, Donna Crawford, and 2 grandchildren, Ryan C. Schofer and Jennifer L. Rankin. Funeral services will be held from the Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Friday at 8:00PM. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until the time of service. Mabel I. Kilefner
Mabel I. Kilefner, age 96, of 1827 White Oak Road, Strasburg, PA died Tuesday afternoon at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was the widow of Franklin Kilefner who died January 16, 1957. Mabel was born in Strasburg Township, a daughter of the late Chester A. and Anna Mowrer Geib. She retired from Lancaster General Hospital where she had been employed as a dietary server for 26 years. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Strasburg since 1927. Mabel enjoyed playing pinochle, her rose garden, word puzzles, bird watching and the Philadelphia Phillies.
She is survived by a daughter, Jane marriage to James M. Boyd of Strasburg; 2 step grandsons, James Jr. marriage to Andrea Boyd of Glen Mills and Scott marriage to Nancy Boyd of W. Lampeter; 4 step great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mary Baker of Lancaster, Agnes Hess of Lancaster, Dorothy Herr of Quarryville; 2 brothers, Chester Geib of Lititz and Richard Geib of New Danville. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, George, Harry, John, William and Robert and a sister, Ada Geib.
Funeral services will be held from the Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Friday at 2:00PM with the Rev. Dr. James Haun officiating. Friends may call from 1:00PM until the time of service. Interment will follow in Zion U.C.C. Cemetery, Strasburg. Estella E. Kimble
Estella E. Kimble, age 87, formerly of East Berlin and Spotsylvania, VA died Friday afternoon at the Brethren Home of New Oxford. She was the widow of George Franklin Kimble who died January 23, 1999. She was born in Little Britain Township, a daughter of the late Edgar M. and Louella M. Johnson Eshleman. Estella was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church, Spotsylvania, VA and a member of the East Berlin Senior Citizens. She owner and operated Estella’s Luncheonette in Olny, MD and then served as an aide for Montgomery County School Buses for 8 years.
She is survived by two sons, George Fritz Kimble of Gettysburg, Barry Franklin Kimble of Laytonsville, MD; a daughter Sandy L. wife of Harry Fletcher of East Berlin; 3 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Estella was preceded in death by 3 brothers, J. Fritz, Charles, and Cavier. Graveside services will be held at Little Britain Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 255 Little Britain Church Road, Peach Bottom, PA on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006 at 11:00AM. Kindly omit flowers. Robert L. Martin
Robert L. Martin, 75, of 501 Country Place Dr, Lancaster, formerly of Peach Bottom, PA died on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of June Long Martin, and they had celebrated 44 years of marriage. Bob had been employed as a Civil Service employee in supply for the Federal Government at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. He retired in 1985 after 34 years of service. He had also served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.
Bob was born in Ronda, NC, son of the late Lama and Etta Grimes Martin. He enjoyed square dancing, wood working and gardening. In addition to his wife June, is survived by; 2 sons; Todd, marriage to Sherri Martin of Manassas, VA, Patrick Martin of Peach Bottom, PA, his 4 grandchildren; Zachary, Allison, Leah, and Cara Martin, sister’s; Kathleen Day, Maryetta Lancaster, Lucy Puleo, Barbara Chamberlain, brother’s L.S. Martin, Dean Martin, and Charles Martin. He is predeceased by brother’s Edward, Carol and William Martin and sister Jean Bernard. Private funeral services at the convenience of the family. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Susan E. Mason, 55, of 147 Plum Hill Road, Peach Bottom, Pa died on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster, Pa. She was the wife of Donald C. Mason, and they had celebrated 15 years of marriage.
Susan had worked in the deli department of Wal-Mart, Lancaster. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Peach Bottom. Susan was born in Fulton Twp., daughter of the late Herbert and Sara Douglas Weaver. She enjoyed spending time with her 3 grandchildren and time on her computer. In addition to her husband, she is survived by; daughter Jody, marriage to Christopher Adams of Rising Sun, MD, grandchildren Stephanie, Bryan, and Jared Adams, sister’s Jean, marriage to Albert Danz of Holtwood, Pa, and Margarette, marriage to Robert McCauley of Drumore, Pa, 4 brothers, William R., marriage to Sybil Weaver, Richard, marriage to Nona Weaver, John R., marriage to Bertha Weaver, and Kenneth Weaver, all of Peach Bottom, Pa
The Funeral Service will be held at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Pilottown Road, Peach Bottom, Pa, on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Cheryl Zegers officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, Pa on Monday from 7:00-9:00 PM and on Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the service. Thomas J. McHugh
Thomas J. McHugh, 68, of New Providence, PA, died on Friday, September 15 at Conestoga View. He was the husband of Maura Duffy McHugh whom he had been marriage for 45 years. Thomas was born in Ireland, son of the late Robert and Annie Burke McHugh. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 daughters; Helen, wife of Bill Roesch of NJ, and Anna, wife of Louis Champy of NC; a sister, Moira and a brother Pat; 5 grand children.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 955 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PA, Wednesday, September 20 at 11am. There will be a viewing and visitation from 7-9 pm, on Tuesday, September 19 at Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 E. State Street, Quarryville, PA.
Benjamin S. Metzler, Jr.
Benjamin S. Metzler, Jr., age 43, of 21 Fern Trail, Holtwood, PA, took his own life at his residence on Thursday evening (March 16, 2006). Ben and his wife, Debra S. Althouse Metzler would have been marriage 21 years in June. He was born in Lancaster, the son of Benjamin S. and Velma L. Henry Metzler, Sr. of Holtwood. Ben owned and operated Techno Tool & Die in Lancaster. Ben enjoyed his job as a tool and die maker and was a talented and skilled craftsman. He enjoyed spending time with his son, doing everything from playing football to monopoly, snowboarding to go-carting. Ben enjoyed attending Starretts sporting events and was an absolutely terrific dad.
Surviving beside his wife and parents are a son, Starrett R. at home; a brother, Ronald L. marriage to Roberta L. Wissler Metzler; and two sisters, Patti A. marriage to Ronald Nelson and Pamela S. marriage to Walter J. Null, Jr. all of Holtwood. Everyone is invited to attend a memorial service at the Bethesda United Methodist Church, Hilldale Road, Holtwood, PA on Tuesday from 7:007:45 PM with Pastor James A. Goudie officiating.
