Robert L. Phillips, 72, of 966 Valley Road, Quarryville, PA died Friday, November 25, 2005 at the home of his daughter in North East, Maryland. He was born in Quarryville, a son of the late Burris Zeb and Esther Ann Stuart Phillips. A welder and fabricator by trade, he was retired from High Steel Structures, Lancaster, in 1998 following 30 plus years of employment.
He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church, the Paul R. Strubel Post #8710 VFW Strasburg, and a lifetime member of the Strasburg Sportsman’s Association. A veteran, he served in the US Army. He enjoyed traveling, going to public auctions and buying items to add to his many collections.
Robert will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by three daughters, Patricia A. marriage to Douglas B. Crouse of North East, MD, Julie A. marriage to James I. Frantz of Denver, PA and Robin A. marriage to Fred T. Burkett of Terri Hill, PA; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 8 brothers, T.J. Phillips, Stuart Phillips, Elmer Phillips, Franklin Phillips, William Phillips, Truby Phillips, Dale Phillips, and Sherwood Phillips, all from the Quarryville area, and a sister, Barbara Fisher of Paradise. He was preceded in death by a son Robert L. Jr., and a brother Gwyn Phillips.
Funeral services will be held from the Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Middle Octorara Presbyterian Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers. Ethel Phipps
Ethel Phipps, 90, of 625 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, Pa, died on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was the wife of the late Charles R. Phipps who died in 2002.
Mrs. Phipps was a homemaker and a seamstress. She had worked for many years for the former Tidy’s Products in Quarryville. Ethel enjoyed going to her cabin in the mountains and her two grandsons. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Quarryville, and the Quarryville Senior Citizens.
She was born in North Carolina, daughter of the late J. Lester and Pearl Dickson. She is survived by her daughter Ruth marriage to Robert G. Lee of Quarryville, Pa, her 2 grandsons; Robert C. marriage to Sandy Lee of Quarryville, and Roger, marriage to Julie Lee of Lampeter, 2 great grandchildren; Bobby and Jennifer, and her sister Faye, marriage to Aldus Martin of Lancaster. Ethel was predeceased by brothers; Elmer and Gwyn Dickson and a sister Mattie Stoner.
Private funeral services will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, Pa on Friday, November 3, 2006, with Pastor John Longmire and Pastor William Keeler officiating. Vivian L. Rineer
Vivian L. Rineer, 98, of Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford, formerly of Quarryville, Pa, died Friday, September 1, 2006. She was the wife of the late Paul F. Rineer who died in 1972.
Vivian had retired from Host Farms Resort, Lancaster, where she had worked in the laundry department. She was a member of Mt. Eden Lutheran Church, Quarryville. She enjoyed reading, her grandchildren and watching birds out her window.
Vivian is survived by 2 sons; Haines E., marriage to Doris Rineer, David F., marriage to Donna Rineer, both of Quarryville, and daughter Dorothy, wife of Robert Shissler of Lancaster. Also survived by 22 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by son’s Paul and H. Glenn Rineer, daughter’s Linda Wade, and Joan Lorraine Rineer and an infant son.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service at 10:00 A.M., on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 from the Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, Pa with Pastor Kirk Griffin officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Eden Lutheran Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Tuesday at the funeral home from 7:00-8:30 P.M. and one half hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Arline F. Rohrer
Arline F. Rohrer, 88, of 451 Camargo Road, Quarryville, PA died on Monday, December 19, 2005 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was the wife of Henry B. Rohrer, and they had celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Arline had worked for 33 years as a secretary, for her family owned business, Ross H. Rohrer & Sons, Quarryville. She was a member of St. Paul's Church, Quarryville, where she had taught Sunday school and had formerly sung in the choir. Arline had also served as the church secretary and treasure. Prior to her employment with the family business she had worked as an executive secretary at the former Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster. She had served as treasure of the Solanco Fair Association for 10 years, and was the Grand Marshall of the Solanco Fair in 2001. She had belonged to the Drama Club, Quarryville, and enjoyed acting, the theater, sewing, and public reading at social functions. She was a graduate of Quarryville High School, and had attended the former Williamsport Jr. College.
She was born in Quarryville, daughter of the late Frank and Hannah Gregg Forbes. She is survived by her husband Henry B. of Quarryville, PA, her son David R. marriage to Mary Ann Rohrer of Quarryville, PA, her daughter Linda R., marriage to J. Glen Buckwalter of Lancaster, PA, 6 grandchildren; Mark A. Buckwalter, Elizabeth A. Herr, Debra M. Boone, Robert D. Rohrer, Beth A. Pimsaen, and Seth H. Buckwalter, and 2 great grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul's Church, 1 West Fourth Street, Quarryville on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 7:00 P.M. There will be a private interment in the New Providence Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. Paul's Church on Thursday from 5:00-7:00 PM. Joseph A. Roten
Joseph A. Roten, 64, of 167 Hilton Road, Cochranville, PA died on Sunday, March 12, 2006 at his home. He was the husband of Virginia Trimble Roten, and they had celebrated 42 years of marriage. Joe had worked as a welder-mechanic, with much of his time employed by Laurel Valley Farms in Avondale. He had also served in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne. Joe enjoyed wood working, hobby welding projects, gardening, his pocket knife collection, and deep-sea fishing.
He was born in Smyth County, Virginia, son of the late Lillard and Lucy Johnson Roten. In addition to his wife he is survived by sons; Brian Roten of Mt. Joy, PA, Joseph A., Jr. marriage to Carrie Roten of Mansfield, TX, his daughter MaShelle Neuhauser of Cochranville, PA, 2 grandchildren, 4 sisters; Ann, marriage to Howard Kilgore of Peach Bottom, PA, Helen, marriage to Thomas Nitroy of Lancaster, PA, Mae, wife of the late Curtis Hartsoe of Warrensville, NC, Belle, marriage to James Greer of Chilhowie, VA, 3 brothers; Robert, marriage to Donna Roten of Lancaster, PA, Jack, marriage to Norma Roten, of Louisiana, Jim, marriage to Alice Roten of Nottingham, PA, and his sister-in-law Frances, wife of the late Charles Roten, of Nottingham. Predeceased brothers Charles and Ray Roten.

Alma L. Miller
Alma L. Miller, 102, of 900 East King Street, Lancaster, formerly of White Oak Road Strasburg, died on Monday, January 2, 2006 at Conestoga View Nursing Home, Lancaster. She was the wife of Park H. Miller who died in 1973. She and her husband were the former owners of Brookmead Dairy Farms, Strasburg, PA. Mrs. Miller graduated in 1925 from Lancaster General hospital as a registered nurse, and did practical home nursing until 1948. She then became a fulltime homemaker.
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Strasburg. Alma was also a member of Farm Women # 15, and the Colerain Literary Society. She was born in Colerain Twp, PA, daughter of the late Edgar and Lillie Lefever Linton. She is survived by her stepson Marvin E. Miller of Lancaster, PA, 2 step grandchildren, her sister’s Mary Ferguson of Oxford, PA, and Emily marriage to Robert Reath of Kirkwood, PA., nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a stepson, Charles Miller, brothers; Fred, Earl, Hess, and Charlie Linton, and sisters; Anna Herr, and Lina Weismandel. The Funeral Service will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 2:00 A.M. with Reverend Dr. James R. Haun, and Reverend John Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in New Providence Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call for a viewing one hour prior to the service. Florence A. Seivard
Florence A. Seivard, 94, of 1300 E. King Street/Evergreen Estates, Lancaster, formerly of Quarryville, PA died on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at Lancaster Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Howard Seivard.
Florence was a homemaker, and enjoyed sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was born in Claymont Delaware, daughter of the late Thomas and Eva Cloud Pyle. She is survived by her nephew that she raised; Walter Godfrey, Sr. marriage to June of Willow Street, Pa, grandchildren Walter Godfrey Jr. marriage to Christina, Matthew Godfrey marriage to Karen, both of Willow Street, Pa, and Kristine, marriage to Terry McCoy of Lancaster, Pa, 7 great grandchildren, and her sister Frances Hurley of Linwood, Pa. She was predeceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Private funeral services will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA. Interment in the Chester Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
