Clair L. Shober, 67, 91 Denver Road, Denver, PA 17517, died Wednesday in Ephrata Hospital. Born in Denver, a son of the late James L.& Elsie G. (Musser) Shober, husband of Millie J. (Schappell) Shober for 44 years. A construction worker, he took great pride in his family homestead, was an Air Force veteran & member of Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, where he assisted in building projects.
Also surviving: daughters, Debra I., wife of Jeff Marks; and Diane I., wife of Jerry Englert, both Denver; grandson, Joseph H. Marks; 3 sisters, Minerva Mae, wife of Franklin Fry, Ephrata; Bette Teele, Quakertown; & Dorothy, wife of Charles Shealer, Lancaster; & 4 brothers, Ellis, companion of Elizabeth Myers, & James, Jr., husband of Joyce (Smith), both Stevens; Lester, husband of Mae (Folkenhower); & Paul, both Ephrata.
Services Saturday at 11 AM at Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, 11 S. Muddy Creek Rd., Denver, PA 17517. Burial in Muddy Creek Cemetery. Viewings: Good Funeral Home, Reamstown, Friday 7-9 PM & Church Saturday 10-11 AM. Contributions to Church Building Fund.

Thurlow V. Barley

Thurlow V. Barley, 85 years, died September 14 at 5:00 AM in the Masonic Villages, Elizabethtown. He was predeceased by his wife Edith E. (Doerstler) Barley.
Born in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Martin W. and Annie M. (Boltz) Barley. He was a graduate of Elizabethtown High School. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He worked for 21 years as a salesman and manager for Leeco Corporation, Madison, Ohio, retiring June 1983. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hamburg.
Surviving is one daughter: Mary Ann Stofflet, Dublin, Ohio. There is one brother: Wilbur M. Barley, Elizabethtown, and three sisters: Mabel M. Hostetter, Lititz, Mary Jane Buffington, Highspire, and Ruth F. Herchelroth, Bainbridge. There are two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services from First United Church of Christ, Hamburg, on Friday at 1:30 PM. Burial in St. John s Cemetery, Hamburg. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg, is in charge of arrangements.
There will be a viewing at the church Friday 12:00 noon to 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to First U.C.C. Carillon Fund, Third and Pine Streets, Hamburg, PA 19526 or Masonic Villages of Elizabethtown, c/o Office of Gift Planning, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 in memory of Thurlow V. Barley.

Eugene J. Andrejev

Eugene J. Andrejev, age 79, of 2979 Oregon Pike, Ephrata, PA died Weds. morning, Sept. 15, 2004 in his residence following a 2-year battle with colon cancer. He is the husband of Shirley J. Everhard Andrejev. The couple had been marriage 27 years. Born in Tallinn, Estonia he was the son of the late Peter and Anna Andrejev. He had been a veteran of the German, British, and US Armies during WWII until immigrating to the US in 1952 as a displaced person sponsored by the Lutheran Church of America. Referred to as Geno, he had been employed as a full time truck driver working for numerous companies in the Lancaster area, most recently retiring from APA Transportation in 1992. In retirement he had also worked for Penske Truck Leasing Co., of Lancaster for several years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Peter E, h/o Kristen Maley Andrejev of McLean, VA, Susan E., w/o Joseph Hoffard of Lancaster, PA and Erik R., h/o Sherry Shepard, Lincoln University, PA from his marriage to the former Marguerite B. Myers Andrejev who died in 1971. He is also survived by stepsons, Paul, h/o Gayle Van Aulen of Quarryville, PA, Barry Van Aulen of Lancaster, PA and Robert, companion of Leanne Snyder Van Aulen of Ephrata, PA, a stepdaughter Kathy, w/o David Seifred of Ephrata, PA. His grandchildren include Ben, Jesse, Shawn, Joe, Chet, Catie, Jansen, Grace, Alex, Rachel, and Nikolai.
Geno was active in numerous religious, charitable, and social organizations; the West Earl Lions Club, Teamsters Local #771, the Lancaster LeiderKranz, the Loyal Order of the Moose #295 Lancaster, Cloister Post of the American Legion #429 Ephrata, Boys Town USA, the Statue of Liberty Foundation, and the Ebenezer Evangelical Congregational Church of Brownstown, PA. His hobbies included deep sea fishing, volleyball, and hat collecting.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 at 10 AM at the Ebenezer EC Church, South State Street and School Lane Ave., Brownstown, PA with Rev. David Long and officiating. Private interment at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the Stradling Funeral Home, 30 N. 9th Street, Akron, PA and also one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ephrata Cancer Center, 460 N. Reading Road, Ephrata, PA 17522 or to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 in lieu of Flowers. A reception will follow the services at 11:00 AM in the church social hall.

Emma J. Fultz

Emma J. Fultz, 90, formerly of Dry Tavern Road, Denver, PA died Monday evening at the Denver Nursing Home, Stevens, PA, where she resided for the past 5 years. Her husband Russel E. Fultz died on Christmas of 1994.
She is survived by 2 daughters & 8 sons: Betty Smith of Selingsgrove, Anna Noll and Bobby, both of Kissimmee, Florida, Guy of Adamstown, Palmer of Bernville, Quentin of Womelsdorf, Larry of Bowmansville, and Triplets: Donnie & Lonnie of Ephrata and Ronnie of Reinholds. Emma has 35 Grandchildren, 44 Great-Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She also has a Sister, Annie Bilheim of Middleburg, PA Emma was preceded in death by daughters Lena Sweigart and Violet Moore, and a Son Cloyd, and a Sister Sarah Reed and Brother Leroy Bowersox. Born in Snyder County, Emma was the daughter of Irvin and Mary Bowersox. As a young girl she enjoyed riding horses. Emma was employed by the Bollman Hat Company of Adamstown for 25 years. Following retirement, she enjoyed traveling on bus trips with her sisters and former co-workers.
The funeral will be held on Monday, September 20, 2004 at 10:00 AM in the Roseboro Funeral Home, Sixth and Walnut Streets, Denver, PA. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Adamstown, PA.

Kathryn A. (Wieder) Young
August 30, 1914 - April 11, 2001
Services will be from our parlor Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at 2:00 PM with Rev. William E. Hoch officiating. Burial in Muddy Creek Cemetery. Viewing Monday 7-8 PM with Eastern Star Services at 8:00 PM.
Kathryn was born in Sinking Spring to the late Albert and Goldie K. (Werner) Wieder. She graduate in 1932 from the former Shillington High School and marriage Victor H. "Red" Young, who died September 10, 2000. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville, and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #406, Akron, PA. A 26 year employee of the former Dutchmaid, Inc., Ephrata, she retired in 1971. A brother, Dennis F. Wieder, Ephrata, survives. Kathryns failing healh ended at 8:40 PM on Wednesday in Ephrata Community Hospital where she was a patient for 6 day. She resided at 217 Lincoln Avenue in Ephrata, Lancaster County, PA.

Nancy A. (Reed) Miller
August 14, 1935 - April 10, 2001
It was Nancys request that all arrangements would be made privately by her family. There will be no viewing or public services.
Born in Shillington, Berks County, PA, she was a daughter of the late Chelten L. and Evelyn B. (Epler) Reed. Her husband, Lloyd E. Miller, died February 6, 1997. Nancy was a 1953 graduate of Wilson High School. She had worked for 25 years at the former Cinderella Knitting Mill, Denver, and earlier at the former Kelray Knitting Mill, West Reading. Surviving is a son, Jeffrey Allen, marriage to Louanne (Kleeman) Miller, Lancaster; a sister, Donna J., marriage to Steve Martinez, Lititz; a brother, Dana, marriage to Ruth (Schlouch) Reed, Narvon. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Reed, and a sister, Doris Berger. Formerly of Stevens, Lancaster County, she had last resided with her sister-in-law, Mary E. Himmelberger, at 416 Locust Street, Reading. Peace came for Nancy at 8:30 PM on Tuesday in ManorCare Health Services, West Reading, following a lengthy illness.

Mary E. (Stricker) Steffy
June 13, 1914 - April 9, 2001
Services from our parlor on Thursday, April 12, 2001, at 10 AM with Rev. David R. Brumbaugh & Rev. Stephen E. Hollinger officiating. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Denver. Viewing Wednesday 7-9 PM.
Born in West Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, PA, Mary was a daughter of the late Charles & Daisy (Conrad) Stricker, Sr. Her husband, Phares K. "Pit" Steffy, died April 1, 1998. She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, Denver. Mary loved cooking, baking, reading & writing poetry...and studying her Bible. She worked many years ago at the former Lititz cannery and Bollman Hat Company, Adamstown. Surviving are 3 daughters, Merla, marriage to Kenneth Eshleman, Stevens; Rosalie Crawford, Stevens; and Nancy, marriage to Lamar Seifrit, Denver; 4 sons, John, marriage to Alberta (DeLong) Steffy, Reamstown; Thomas, marriage to Bonnie (Althouse) Steffy, Reamstown; Richard, marriage to Cathy (Hartranft) Steffy, Stevens; and Terry, marriage to Susan (Summers) Steffy, Stevens; 16 grand children; 31 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sarah Burkholder, Reading. Mary resided at 292 East Church Street, Stevens, but was a guest at the Denver Nursing Home where she found peace on Monday afternoon at 2:30 PM. If desired, the family requests contributions in Marys memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, P. O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
