Madelyn M. Hamlin, 90, wife of the late Emerson E. Hamlin, died Monday morning at Denver Nursing Home. She was a member of the Eastern Star Cloister Chapter #406 O.E.S. She is survived by a son, Jan A., marriage to Ann M. Lanza Hamlin of Akron.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Stradling Funeral Home, 30 N. 9th St., Akron with Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Interment in Mt. Zion Evangelical Cemetery, Akron. Miriam G. Landis

Miriam G. Landis, 100, of Luther Acres Manor, Lititz, died Sunday of natural causes at her residence.
Born in Paradise, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Naomi Eby Girvin. Following graduation in 1923 from the former Lititz High School, she taught at the Cherry Grove Country School for 2 years and attended Millersville Normal School during the summer and graduated from West Chester Normal School in 1926. She taught for 23 years at the Lititz Elementary School. She was a member of the Lititz Moravian Church and the Lititz Womans Club. She enjoyed travel, entertaining; playing cards loved life and had a great sense of humor. She was the wife of the late Willis E. Fasnacht who died in 1953 and the late Dr. Charles A. Landis who died in 1973.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan E. wife of James R. Johnson, Lititz; a stepson, Charles A. husband of Joan Landis, Phoenix, AZ; 3 granddaughters; 4 great grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; and a number of step great grandchildren. She was the eldest of her siblings who preceded her in death; 3 sisters, Ruth, Emily and Betty; and 2 brothers, Bob and Harold.

Marion W. Counts

Marion W. Counts, 78, of 57 Loop Road, Quarryville, died unexpectedly at her residence on Sunday.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Minnie Herr Winters. She was the wife of the late William L. Counts who died in 1993.
She was a librarian for 45 years. She had worked at the Lancaster County Library, Bart Elementary School Library, and volunteered at the Quarryville Public Library . She was the Quarryville Public Library Team Coordinator for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. The 2004 Team raised the most donations since its inception. She enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing bridge. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster where she was active in the Women's Circle Group.
Surviving is a son, Dr. Douglas Canterbury-Counts husband of Belinda Canterbury-Counts of Sebastian, FL, a daughter Joyce Campbell-Counts wife of Kevin Campbell of Alstead, NH, and grandsons Andrew Canterbury-Counts of Sebastian, FL, Benjamin Maule husband of Deborah Maule of Drumore, PA and Christopher P. Maule husband of Shelly Maule of Quarryville, PA, a granddaughter Cynthia wife of Derric Tatman of Little Britian, PA Also surviving are great grandchildren, Casie Maule, Stephanie Geyer, Christopher Maule, Jr., Benjamin Maule, Jr., Katelyn Maule and Brianna Maule She was preceded in death by a daughter Jeanne Elizabeth Counts.
The funeral will be held Friday, September 24th at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church, corner of Duke and Walnut Streets, Lancaster, with the Rev. Robert W. Tanguy officiating. Friends may call at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, on Thursday evening from 7-9 PM and at the church on Friday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Greenwood Cemetery, Lancaster, PA. Please omit flowers. Anna E. Long, 77, formerly of Fleetwood (several addresses) died Sunday, at 11:40 AM at the home of her daughter, Ruth D. (Long) Schlegel, Salisbury Twp., Lancaster Co., under hospice care. She was the widow of William Long deceased, Sept., 1976.
Born in Ontelaunee Twp., Berks Co., she was the daughter of the late Henry F. and Annie May (Snyder) Hoverter.
She retired in 1987 from the former Temple Apparel Co., with 33 years of service (machine operator).
Surviving in addition to her daughter, is another daughter, June L. (Long) Reinert, Fleetwood, a son William R. Long, Reading, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Elsie P. Reutenauer

Elsie P. Reutenauer, 81, of 2001 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, formerly of Erie and New Holland, died Monday morning at Lancaster Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband, Fred C. Reutenauer. They observed their 59th wedding anniversary on Aug. 4.
Born in Sumter, SC, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Mary Lampley Pierce.
She graduated with a bachelor s degree from Coker College in Hartsville, SC in 1944. She worked in various supervisory office positions at various hospitals and nursing facilities prior to locating in the Lancaster area.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Lancaster and served many hours of volunteer work at the former St. Joseph s Hospital in Lancaster, Apprise, and Meals on Wheels.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a brother, John R. Pierce of Melbourne, FL; a sister, Mary Sue Luek of New Holland; and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at the St. Stephen Cemetery, New Holland, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 131 S. Wayne Z. Newswanger, 79, of 1890 Agape Court, East Earl, died Sunday evening at his home. He is survived by his wife, Anna S. Brubaker Newswanger. They observed their 52nd wedding anniversary on Jan. 1.
Born in Caernarvon Twp., he was the son of the late Samuel and Lydia Zimmerman Newswanger.
He was a farmer most of his life and a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church of the Groffdale Conference.
Surviving in addition to his wife are eight sons, Wilmer B., marriage to Edna W. Hoover Newswanger of Mohnton, Allen B., marriage to Sue Etta Kilmer Newswanger of East Earl, Ivan B., marriage to Susie M. Martin Newswanger, Samuel B., marriage to Loretta H. Martin Newswanger both of Goshen, IN, Walter B., marriage to Elsie F. Zeiset Newswanger of Platteville, WI, Mervin B., marriage to Martha M. Hurst Newswanger, Daniel B., marriage to Mabel N. Martin Newswanger both of East Earl, and Reuben B., marriage to Martha M. Fox Newswanger of Williamsburg; three daughters, Susan B. Newswanger and Laura B. Newswanger both at home, and Ella B., marriage to Ivan M. Hurst, Jr. of Latham, MO; 47 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five brothers, Amos, Samuel, Phares, David and Reuben Newswanger; and two sisters, Catherine Newswanger and Lena Nolt.
Preceding him in death is a brother, Isaac Newswanger.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9 AM at the late home with further services at 9:30 AM at the Churchtown Mennonite Church. Interment in the adjoining Cemetery. Grace E. Dombach

Grace E. (Walk) Dombach, 85, died Sunday at Mennonite Home in Lancaster. She was the wife of the late Ellsworth C. Dombach.
Born September 2, 1919, in Manor Township, a daughter of the late Elmer Walk and Elizabeth (Sneath) Walk.
She enjoyed flowers, singing, and playing the guitar.
Mrs. Dombach is survived by two sons: Dale E. Dombach of Manheim and Jay D. Dombach of Langhorne; and one sister, Marge Fry of Columbia.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Gundel Funeral Home, Inc., 415 North Duke Street, Lancaster, with Pastor Dorcas Martzall officiating. Burial will be in Conestoga Memorial Park. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service.
