May 18, 1908 - January 10, 2003
Haskell E. Roberts, M.D., aged 94, of 353 Main Street, Denver, Lancaster County, PA, died Friday morning at 8:25 AM in Garden View Skilled Nursing Center, New Holland, PA, where he resided since September 13, 2002. Born in Sentinel, Oklahoma, he was a son of the late Pliny W. and Linnie L. (Watson) Roberts, and was the husband of Janie L. (Harkey) Roberts since November 4, 1995. His first wife, Mildred H. Roberts, died February 23, 1990. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Okemah, OK. “Doc Roberts”, as he was warmly known, had a thriving family practice in Denver, Pennsylvania, for 45 years from 1938 to 1983, when he retired. He was a 1932 graduate of University of Texas, Austin, TX; 1936 graduate of University of Pennsylvania Medical School, Philadelphia, PA; and interned at Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading, PA, where he served as chief resident physician from 1936-38. He was a member of the American Medical Association and received an award of recognition from the 50 Year Club of the AMA. He was also one of the first inductees in the Okemah Hall of Fame, Okemah, OK, in 1978. Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Carole E., marriage to Nicholas James, Mineola, New York; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a sister, Noweta Melton, Springville, Missouri; and a brother, George Roberts, Glendale, Arizona. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Constance R. Monti, 2 sisters, Sallie Trow and Margie Noblis, and 3 brothers, John, Luther and P.W. Roberts, Jr.
Doc Roberts' viewing will be held on Monday, January 13, 2003, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and on Tuesday, January 14, 2003, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM from our funeral home.
The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 14, 2003, with The Reverend Larry G. Hummer officiating.
Private inurnment will take place in Fairview Cemetery Annex, near Denver, Lancaster County, PA.

Ada I. Robinson
October 6, 1902 - May 23, 2002
Ada I. Robinson, 99, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, died Thursday at 12:05 PM in Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA, where she resided since February 1998. Born in Sharpsburg, Allegheny County, PA, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Gussie (Ritter) Grubbs. Her husband, Dr. Ashby C. Robinson, died November 1957. She was of the Lutheran Faith and enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Robinson had worked for 40 years as a dental assistant. First, with her late husband for 20 years and later with the late, Dr. Ted Bowser, both in Pittsburgh. She is survived by a daughter, June R, marriage to Edward F. Cahill, Stevens, PA; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A son, Ashby F. Robinson, also preceded her in death.
The family will be holding Ada's services privately from our funeral home with burial in Mt. Lebanon Memorial Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA.
They ask that rather than flowers, contributions in Ada's memory be sent to Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17606-5093.

Edward D. Rodgers, Jr.
April 21, 1928 - February 1, 2004
Edward D. Rodgers, Jr., 75, of 1 Mockingbird Drive, Denver, Lancaster County, PA, formerly of Broomall, died Sunday morning at 5:50 AM in his residence under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County. His death followed a 5 month illness. Born in New Cumberland, he was a son of the late Edward D. Rogers, Sr., and Winifred (Fegan) Rodgers, and was the husband of Mary (Frownfelter) Rodgers for 51 years on April 16, 2003. He was a member and former deacon of Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville, Lancaster County, and had been a member of Bellmont Baptist Church, Broomall. Ed was a 1946 graduate of New Cumberland High School and graduated from the Chicago Technical College. Retiring in 1987, he was employed as an electrical engineer and sales person for 37 years with ASEA Boveri, Philadelphia, formerly ITE Imperial. Rodgers was a Navy veteran of World War II having been aboard a submarine in the South Pacific. He was a member and 2nd vice-president of the East Cocalico Lions Club, Reamstown. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 daughters, Patricia R. (Rodgers), marriage to W. Kenneth Bradford, Roanoke, VA; and Marianne E. (Rodgers), marriage to Daniel F. Little, Denver, PA; 3 grandchildren; and 3 brothers, Thomas, marriage to Doreen Rodgers, Elk Grove, IL; Joseph, marriage to Dolores Rodgers, and Cornelius, marriage to Carol Rodgers, both of New Cumberland, PA.
A viewing will be held on Saturday morning, February 7, 2004, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM from our parlors. The service remembering Ed's life will begin at 11:00 AM with his pastor, The Reverend William E. Hoch, officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall of Peace United Church of Christ, 37 East Swartzville Road, Denver, PA 17517.
Following cremation, a graveside inurnment service will be held on Tuesday afternoon, February 10, 2004, at 1:00 PM from Muddy Creek Cemetery, Swartzville, Lancaster County, PA.
The family requests that rather than flowers, please remember Ed with contributions to Hospice of Lancaster County, Post Office Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125. Their assistance to the family during his final weeks was so greatly appreciated.

Ada L. Roth
August 8, 1913 - October 13, 2001
Ada L. Roth, age 88, of 3915 Oregon Pike, Ephrata, Lancaster County, formerly of 114 East Chestnut Street, Ephrata, died Saturday in Ephrata Community Hospital where she was a patient since September 12th. Born in Bird-in-hand, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late John and Kathryn (Wagner) Englert. Her husband, Arthur E. Roth, died February 7, 1983. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Brownstown. Ada was employed for over 50 years by the former Miller-Hess Shoe Company, Akron, until their closing. She was an avid bingo player. Surviving is a daughter, Helen M., marriage to Jacob W. Buch, with whom she last resided; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandsons; and 3 great-great-grandchildren
Ada's viewing will be held from our parlor on Wednesday evening, October 17, 2001, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The funeral ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2001, at 10:00 AM with her pastor, The Reverend Dennis E. Spangler, officiating. She will be buried with her late husband in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, East Cocalico Township, immediately following the services.

Betty J. Rothermel
June 6, 1930 - August 17, 2005
Betty J. Rothermel, age 75, of 1278 Crestview Drive, Denver, Lancaster County, died in her home on Wednesday afternoon, August 17, 2005, at 1:10 PM under the care of Berks VNA Hospice. Her death was 3 days following her husband’s, Douglass H. Rothermel, Sr. Born June 6, 1930, in West Lawn, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel W. and Rose (Epler) Hess. Mrs. Rothermel worked for Talbot Mills and Vanity Fair, Reading, for many years and had been a member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn. She was an avid knitter and enjoyed handicrafts. Surviving is a son, Douglass H., Jr., husband of Mary (McCarthy) Rothermel, Toms River, NJ; 2 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and a sister.
A private graveside service will be held from Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township, Berks County .

Douglass E. Rothermel
January 17, 1909 - March 13, 2005
Douglass E. Rothermel, 96, formerly of West Lawn, Berks County, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at 9:45 AM in Denver Nursing Home, Stevens, Lancaster County, where he resided since January 12, 2004. Born in Reading, Berks County, he was a son of the late Clarence and Anna (Craig) Rothermel. His wife, Helen (Pfleger) Rothermel, died March 9, 1978. He was a truck driver for 35 years with Automotive Service, Inc., Sinking Spring, Berks County . Surviving is a son, Douglass H., marriage to Betty J. (Hess) Rothermel, Denver, Lancaster County ; a grandson; 2 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
All details have been privately arranged through Good Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Inc. of Reamstown.

Douglass H. Rothermel, Sr.
May 16, 1929 - August 14, 2005
Douglass H. Rothermel, Sr., age 76, of 1278 Crestview Drive, Denver, Lancaster County, died unexpectedly in his home on Sunday afternoon, August 14, 2005, at 4:50 PM. Born May 16, 1929, in West Reading, Berks County, he was a son of the late Douglass E. and Helen (Pfleger) Rothermel, and was the husband of Betty J. (Hess) Rothermel for 60 years. Mr. Rothermel was an engineer with Metropolitan Edison Company, Reading, for many years until retiring and had been a member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn. He enjoyed woodworking and painting. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Douglass H., Jr., husband of Mary (McCarthy) Rothermel, Toms River, NJ; 2 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
A private graveside service will be held from Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township, Berks County .
