Catherine H. Smith, 66, of South Main Street, Hanover Township, died Monday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born June 21, 1934, in the Brookside section of Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Catherine (Shimshy) Stepchuk. She was a 1952 graduate of Coughlin High School. She worked for Pioneer Manufacturing Co., Wilkes-Barre, before retiring. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Stepchuk; and sister, Anna Smith.
Surviving are her husband of 34 years, Andrew J.; son, Andrew "Drew," Jr., Gardners; daughter, Susan Smith, at home; brothers, John Stepchuk, Palm Harbor, Fla.; and Michael Stepchuk, San Francisco; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Thursday from the Simon S. Russin Funeral Home Inc., 136 Maffett St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lee Park, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today. There will be a Christian wake service today at the funeral home. David Ackers, 41, of Reno, Nev., died Dec. 28 in St. Mary's Regional Medical Center, Reno.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of Leo Ackers, White Haven, and Lillian Strohl, Freeland.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his stepfather, Oscar Strohl, Freeland; sister, Stephanie Thomas, Nuremburg; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 6 in St. Patrick's Church, White Haven., with the Rev. Stephen Stavoy officiating.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.

Helen Bator, of City Heights Apartments, Wilkes-Barre, formerly of Ashley, died Wednesday at her home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre Township, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Boris) Bator
She was a 1933 graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School.
She was a sales clerk at Bergman's Department Store, Wilkes-Barre, and at Koval's Grocery Store, Ashley.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church of the Maternity, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Edwin; and sister, Theresa Koval.
Surviving are her brother, John Bator, Wilkes-Barre; and several cousins.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday from the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 p.m. in St. Mary's Church of the Maternity.
Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, West Wyoming.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Mary Bialek, 89, of Lyndwood Avenue, Lyndwood, died Wednesday at the family home.
Born in Aug. 1, 1911, in Plymouth, she was a daughter of the late Jan and Eleanora (Dawid) Trzcinski.
She attended St. Mary's Parochial School, Plymouth, and Plymouth borough schools.
She was a member of St. Casimir's Church, Lyndwood.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Meno; second husband, Adam Bialek; and brothers, Alexander, Leonard and Bernard Trzcinski.
Surviving are her daughters, Mary Ann Bialek, Charleston, Ill.; and Eleanor Rodgers, Syracuse, N.Y.; sons, Joseph and David, both at home; Franklin, Hanover Green; and John, Wilkes-Barre; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Stanley, Allentown; and several nieces.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Casimir's Church.
Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m. until service time Saturday.

Nellie (Baer) Bittenbender, 92, of Waterton Road, Huntington Township, died Wednesday at the Berwick Retirement Village I, Berwick.
Born March 12, 1908, in Union Township, she was a daughter of the late Dana and Jennie (Adleman) Baer.
She was a graduate of Mansfield Teachers College.
She taught in rural schools, including the Huntington Mills School.
She was a member of the Church of Christ, Huntington Mills.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; and brothers, Glenn, Orville, Carl and Dana.
Surviving are her sisters, Iris Van Alstyne, Arizona; Bessie Blarcom, New Jersey; and Letha Patermaster, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at the convenience of the family.

John J. Cambardella Sr., 83, of Salisbury, Md., died Tuesday at his home.
Born May 7, 1917, in Old Forge, he was a son of the late Luigi and Angela (Augustine) Cambardella.
He was a merchandising manager at Sears.
Surviving are his son, John J. Jr., Chestertown, Md.; daughter, Nancy Crockett, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; four grandchildren; longtime companion, Irma Taylor; sister, Carmela DiGiovine, Old Forge; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Old Forge Cemetery Chapel.
Interment will be in Old Forge Cemetery.

Anthony P. Deeb, 74, of Hudson Falls, N.Y., died Wednesday at the Hallmark Nursing Centre, Schenectady, N.Y.
Born Nov. 1, 1926, in Swoyersville, he was a son of the late Anis and Sadie (Decker) Deeb.
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers and worked on construction of the Adirondack Northway and Interstate 88.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace.
Surviving are his daughter, Carole Fitzpatrick, Hudson Falls; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers, George P., Wilkes-Barre; John P., Dallas; Paul G., Plains Township; Peter A., West Pittston; and Anis J., Reno, Nev.; sisters, Sadie Ann and Marjorie A. Deeb, both of Wilkes-Barre; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Mass will be Friday in Hudson Falls, N.Y.
Rite of Committal will be in the spring in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Edward, N.Y.

Henry Dobrosielski, 87, of RR 3, Meshoppen, died Tuesday at the Endless Mountains Health Systems, Montrose.
Born Aug. 5, 1913, in Scranton, he was a son of the late Jacob and Victoria Dobrosielski.
He operated the family dairy farm at Auburn Four Corners.
He was a member of St. Bonaventure's Roman Catholic Church, Auburn, and its Holy Name Society.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thaddeus, Edmund and Anthony.
Surviving are his sister, Theodorsia Dobrosielski, Meshoppen; brother, Casimer, Tunkhannock; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Meshoppen., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Bonaventure's Church, with the Rev. Joseph J. Manarchuck officiating.
Interment will be in St. Bonaventure's Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.

Lillian (Davis) Donnelly, of Lee Park Avenue, Hanover Township, died Wednesday at her home.
Born in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of Lottie Davis and the late Evan Davis.
She worked at the Boston Store, later Boscov's, Wilkes-Barre.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Church, Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph; daughter, JoAnn Kaminski, Lyndwood, Hanover Township; son, Pat, West Nanticoke; four granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; sisters, Loretta Purvin, Sheatown; and Sarah Davis, Pittsburgh; and brother, William Davis, New Jersey.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday from the James M. Desiderio Funeral Home Inc., 2 Academy Road, Marion Terrace, Hanover Township, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Aloysius Church.
Interment will be in St. Vincent's Cemetery, Larksville.

Shirley (Johnson) Enright), 69, of Harbor, Ore., formerly of Plains Township, died Nov. 14, 2000, in Eureka, Calif.
Born in Plains Township, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Hazel (Thompson) Johnson.
She was a 1950 graduate of Plains Memorial High School.
Surviving are her husband, Raymond; brothers, Donald Johnson, Clifton, N.J.; Edwin "Ted" Johnson, Princeton Junction, N.J.; and Richard Johnson, Plains Township; sisters, Marjorie Hockenbury and Peggy Fedor, both of Plains Township; and Judy Vanderburg, Kingston; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Plains United Methodist Church, 133 N. Main St., Plains Township, with the Rev. Craig C. Gommer officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
