She was a graduate of Harter High School, West Nanticoke. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, West Nanticoke, the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 174, Nanticoke, and the Tilbury Volunteer Fire Co. ladies auxiliary.

Thomas G. Yuhas, of Buffalo, N.Y., died Thursday in Buffalo. Born in Swoyersville, he was the son of the late Anna Tomaskovic and John Yuhas. He attended Swoyersville High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a survivor of the 109th train wreck in Coshocton, Ohio. He was employed for many years by Bethlehem Steel in Lackawanna, N.Y.

AMichael Adamcik, of Owen Street, Swoyersville, died Monday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. He was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Ontko) Adamcik. He attended Swoyersville schools. Before retirement, he was an electrician for a telephone company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Hughes Street, Swoyersville, American Legion Post 644, Swoyersville, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Estelle Strenkowski, 88, resident of Adams Manor, Adams Avenue, Scranton, formerly of Mulberry Towers, Scranton, and the Austin Heights section of Old Forge, died Sunday at the Manor. Born April 14, 1913, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Juliana (Jacobowicz) Strenkowski. She was educated in Scranton schools. She was a former licensed practical nurse in the Scranton and Clarks Summit areas. She was a member of St. Peter's Cathedral, Scranton.

John T. Howe, 54, of RR 3, Dallas, formerly of Harding, Exeter Township, and Groton, Conn., died Wednesday at his home. Born June 18, 1947 in Syracuse, N.Y., he was a son of Helen (Spahalski) Howe, Jenkins Township, and the late Philip Howe. He was a 1964 graduate of West Pittston High School and graduate of the Administration/Supervision Program at Southern Connecticut University, New Haven, Conn. He received a bachelor of arts degree in history from Wilkes College, and MAT degree from Connecticut College and was a Taft fellow of Taft Institute, Connecticut College, both of New London, Conn.

Rose (Steinberg) Zinman, 92, of Kingston, died Tuesday at the Dorrance Manor.
Born July 7, 1909 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Simon and Sophie Steinberg. She was a member of the Jewish Community Center Leisure Lounge and Wilkes-Barre Chapter of the Jewish Home and former member of B'nai B'rith Women, Hadassah and the Cancer League of Philadelphia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sydney; sister, Sophie Platt; and brothers, Morris and Nathan.
Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Meisler, Kingston; son, Larry, Pompano Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Shiva will be observed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Chmielewski, 3131 Jenkintown Road, Glenside, 19038, from Jan. 8 to 11.

Benjamin Gottesman, 86, of Holiday Court, Kingston, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died Dec. 24 in Lake Worth, Fla. He was born Nov. 6, 1915 in New York City. He was a graduate of GAR High School and attended Wilkes University. He was the buyer and merchandise manager of J.S. Raub Shoe Corp., Wilkes-Barre, for over 50 years. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Ohav Zedek Congregation and Irem Temple.

John Traskus Sr., 87, of South Grant Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Friday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, where he was a patient for two weeks.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Bruno and Beatrice Traskus. He retired after working in the coal mines as a laborer and working for Johns Manville and Owens-Illinois in production. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, East South Street, Wilkes-Barre.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; and son, John, Jr.
Surviving are his daughter, Joanne Ingallinella, at home; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and sister, Tillie Traskus, Miami.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today from the John W. Frank Funeral Home, 124 S. Grant St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek. Friends may call from 8 to 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.

John B. Laboda, 73, of Trooper, died Friday at Mercy Suburban Hospital.
Born Jun. 4, 1928 in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late John and Mary Laboda. He was a graduate of GAR High School, Wilkes-Barre, and Buffalo University. He was a retired numerical controller for Boeing Aircraft. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving as a medic. He was a member of the Visitation BVM Church, Trooper.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Eleanor C. (Pinko) Laboda; daughter, Donna Marie Wanamaker, Valley Forge; one granddaughter; brother, Charles, Wilkes-Barre; and sisters, Lotti Savitski, Wilkes-Barre; Martha Drust, New Jersey; and Sister Laurentane, Reading.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Visitation BVM Church, Trooper. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, East Norriton. There will be no calling hours. Daniel J. Kuligowski, 79, of Garfield Street, Honey Pot section of Nanticoke, died Thursday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Jan. 3, 1923 in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Stanley and Martha (Krzyanski) Kuligowski. He attended Holy Trinity School to the eighth grade. He was an oiler for American Tobacco, Mountaintop, for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Central Europe. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Nanticoke, and American Legion Post 350, Nanticoke, for 51 years.
He was preceded in death by brother, Casimer.
Surviving are his wife, the former Celia Wallace; sons, Daniel, Jr., Dallas; and Ronald, at home; daughter, Charmaine Kuzminski, Nanticoke; five grandchildren; brother, Frank, Nanticoke; sister, Jean Carpenter, Nanticoke; and several nieces and nephews.
The American Legion Post 350 will conduct a military funeral at 10 a.m. Monday from the Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., 51-53 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Nanticoke. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday.

William Thomas Dettmore, 44, of Mechanicsville, Va., died Dec. 5.
Born Nov. 5, 1957 in Syracuse, N.Y., he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth Dettmore. He worked six years for the Noland Co., Richmond, Va.
Surviving are his wife, Diane; daughter, Jennifer Michelle; sister, Pamela J. Burgess, Syracuse; stepmother, Carol, Venice, Fla.; and grandmother, Gertrude Beese, Nanticoke.

Anthony J. Alfano Jr., 45, of Pittston, died Wednesday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born Aug. 27, 1956 in Pittston, he was the son of Anthony, Sr. and Ann (Fino) Alfano, of Pittston. He was a 1974 graduate of St. John's High School, Pittston. He worked in the area garment industry. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Pittston.
Surviving are his brother, James, Pittston; two nephews, and several aunts and one uncle.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 700 Pittston Blvd., Pittston Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. Elsie (Kamon) Baird, 82, of West Tioga Street, Tunkhannock, died Thursday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Dec. 21, 1919 in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Ada Stair (Powell) Stackhouse. She was a waitress for many years for Shadow Brook Resort and later at the Cross Country Restaurant, both of Tunkhannock. She attended Russell Hill United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Emmanuel Kamon; second husband, Malcolm Baird; and brothers, Gordon and Lawrence.
Surviving are her son, Charles Kamon, Cincinnati; daughter, Connie Washer, Tunkhannock; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Badman, Nuangola.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday from the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with the Rev. David Hinkley officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.

Stanley S. Zajac, 88, of Hobbie, died Friday at his home.
Born Dec. 25, 1913 in Plymouth, he was a son of the late Stanley and Agatha (Krawiec) Zajac. He worked for AC & F Industries, Berwick, until it closed in 1962, operated his own farm and worked at Barrett-Haetjens, Hazleton, until retiring. He was a member of St. Mary's Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Dorrance.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Joseph J.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, the former Anna Guzik; daughters, Katherine Direnza, Newark, Del.; and Jane Gross, Hobbie; two granddaughters, one great-grandson; and sister, Mary Hanko, Dorrance.
Funeral services will be at 11:15 a.m. Monday from the Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon at St. Mary's Church, Dorrance. Born Sept. 5, 1923 in Pringle, she was a daughter of the late Ignatius and Mary (Blanard) Gavek. She was a graduate of the Beaumont School System.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lawrence and Joseph.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Lyle; sons, Edward, Idetown, Dallas Township; Lawrence, Plattsburg; and Bradley, Olyphant; daughter, Donna Watkins, Lehman; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Thomas, Lake Carey; Ignatius, RR Tunkhannock; sister, Catherine Charney, West Wyoming; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl; and sisters, Mary Lombardo and Mitzi Monk.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Lester; daughters, Mary Ann, Scranton; and Kathy Morgan, Inkerman, Jenkins Township; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and sister, Loucq Pascoline, Pittston.
