Capt. Dolores Troskoski, U.S. Navy, retired, of Prospect Street, Nanticoke, died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna (Jesuit) Troskoski. She was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, Kings County Hospital School of Nursing, Brooklyn, N.Y., received a bachelor of science degree in nursing at Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., and master's degree in nursing management at Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey, Calif.
She served at Navy medical facilities in Philadelphia, Memphis, Tenn., Oakland, Calif., Whidbey Island, Wash., Bethesda, Md., Great Lakes, Ill., and Yokosuka, Japan, during the Korean War, was chief of the Nursing Service at Subie Bay, Philippines, during the Vietnam War, and also served at the Bureau of Nursing Personnel, Washington, D.C. She was a staff assistant for Nursing Services and Nursing Administration of the Medical Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Washington, D.C., before retiring. She was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War.
She received service awards, including Legion of Merit, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Korean Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Subie Bay, Philippines, Vietnam War.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Nanticoke, Sigma Theta Tau, National Honor Society of Nursing, Retired Officers Association, Kings County Hospital Center Alumni Association and Navy Nurses Corps Association.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence and William.
Surviving are three nephews, two nieces and cousins.
The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday from the Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home, 14 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Nanticoke. Friends may call before the services.

Frank De Phillip, of Parsonage Street, Hughestown, died Thursday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Hughestown, he was a son of the late Phillip and Sarah (Delconte) De Phillip. He was a lifelong resident of Hughestown. He was a graduate of Hughestown public schools. He was a welder at Garet, Old Forge, and worked at No. Nine Breaker, Hughestown. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Pittston, its Holy Name Society and usher at the church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Esther Milazzo.
Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Waltrich, formerly of Luzerne; brothers, John, Glendale, Calif.; and Anthony, Pittston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Adonizio Funeral Home Inc., 251 William St., Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton, Kingston Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The Holy Name Society will recite the Rosary at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Haydock, John

John Haydock, of South Hanover Street, former mayor of Nanticoke, died Friday at the Mercy Special Care Hospital, Nanticoke.
Born in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late John and Anna (Tomko) Haydock. He attended Nanticoke High School, Wilkes College and King's College. He owned and operated Nanticoke Taxi Co. and was a child support officer for the State of Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and Department of Revenue. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant. He was awarded a Bronze Star. He instituted a peace treaty with the Nanticoke Indians. He was the director for the Nanticoke-Newport Chapter of the American Red Cross as board member of Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania and member of American Legion Post 350, Nanticoke, Frances Slocum Chapter 11 Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology, Northeast States Archaeological Federation, Polar Bear Association of World War II and St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church, Nanticoke.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert, Joseph, Alois, Bernard and Michael; and infant sister, Josephine.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Isabel Roback (Robaczewski); daughters, Rosemary Williams, D.Ed., Suscon; Sally Gorgas, Nanticoke; Patricia Kowalek, Shavertown; and Bonnie Ricci, Morris Plains, N.J.; three grandchildren; brothers, Frank and Robert, both of Nanticoke; sisters, Rita Olshefski, Nanticoke; Ann Gluchowski, Nanticoke; Mary Namowicz, Glen Lyon; Josephine Karpinski, Nuangola; Bernadine Matusek, Benton; and Susan Brutski, Woodbridge, Va.; nieces and nephews.
American Legion Post 350 will conduct military services at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Stanley S. Stegura Funeral Home Inc., 614 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke. The Rev. John S. Krafchak will officiate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Nanticoke. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Ann A. Rosenthal, 92, of Vine Street, Scranton, died Friday at the Jewish Home of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Meister) Klose. She was a lifelong resident of Wyoming Valley and a graduate of Coughlin High School. She was a member of Temple B'nai B'rith, its sisterhood, and also Jewish Community Center, its Leisure Lounge and many other religious and civic organizations.

Josephine Striney, 86, of Overton Road Apartments, Dushore, died Friday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born July 15, 1915 in Bernice, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Marian (Swatski) Klosowski. She attended local schools. She worked for the former Weldon Manufacturing Co., Lopez, and later for the former Endicott-Johnson Shoe Manufacturing Co., Mildred, from which she retired. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter F.; and sister, Anna Moyer.
Surviving are her son, Francis, Erie; daughters, Rose Gulick, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Pauline, West Pittston; and Teresa Jennings, Jenningsville; companion, William Marchisen, Dushore; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church. The Rev. Hugh H. Ann Tondura, 83, of Kingston, died Friday at the home of her daughter, Ann Metzgar, Trucksville, Kingston Township. Born Dec. 18, 1918 in Forty Fort, she was a daughter of the late John and Alice (Hills) Evanitus. She was a graduate of Kingston High School. She was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Kingston.

Joseph M. Tucker, 79, of East Main Street, Nanticoke, died Friday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Andrew and Viola (Golembeski) Tucker. He attended Nanticoke schools. He was a machinist for about six years for Nestles Inc., Fulton, N.Y. and foreman for 28 years for Allan Industries, Wilkes-Barre. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marie Langdon, formerly of Fulton; son, Thomas, North Wales, Pa.; daughter, Pamela Kolmansperger, West Pittston; three grandchildren; sister, Bernadine Archacavage, Hunlock Creek; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday from the Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., 51-53 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. Elizabeth A. Scalonge, 59, of Valley Street, Exeter, died Wednesday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of Dorothy (Maney) Morgan, Pittston, and the late Robert Morgan. She was a graduate of Pittston High School and Wilkes Business College. She was a post office clerk at the Wilkes-Barre Distribution Center for the past 15 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Exeter, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the Wyoming Area Band Parents, Wyoming Area Drama Club Parents Association and the Exeter Little League Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband of 37 years, John; daughters, Deborah LaFratte, Dallas; Brenda, Wyoming; and Beth, both at home; son, John, Jr., West Chester, Ohio; four grandsons; brothers, Robert, Falls, Exeter Township; and John, Exeter; sister, Kathryn Best, Exeter; nieces and nephews.

Helen M. (Kielan) Madar, 86, of Trenton, N.J., died Thursday at Tandem Health Care Center, Lawrenceville, N.J.
Born in Swoyersville, she was a daughter of the late Stanislaw and Aniela (Potera) Kielan. She lived in Trenton since 1953. She worked at the Duplan Silk Mill, Kingston, for 12 years. She was a member of Church of the Holy Cross, Trenton, its Holy Innocents Society and the Holy Cross Crusaders. She also was a member of the Adult Rehabilitation Center and past president of the Echo Nine Club, Trenton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George D.; and sister, Stella Marut.
Surviving are her sons, George E., Ewing, N.J.; and Ronald J., Trenton; one granddaughter; sisters, Josephine Laskaris and Steffie Rhiel, both of Swoyersville; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday from the Winowicz Funeral Home, 308 Adeline St. at Beatty Street, Trenton, with funeral Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Cross, 201 Adeline St., Trenton. William E. Hunsinger, 74, of Pittston, died Friday at VNA Hospice at Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Scranton, he resided in Pittston for 48 years. He worked with Potlatch Corp. for 34 years, before retiring. He was a U.S. Naval veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Kenneth.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, the former Agnes Weber; daughters, Jacquelyn, Taylor; and Cindy Sarf, Yatesville; sons, William, Jr., San Diego; and Richard, Pittston; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Dee Griffiths, Lake Hopatcong, N.J.

Louise M. Carver, 88, of West Shawnee Avenue, Plymouth, died Thursday at ManorCare Health Services, Kingston.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she a daughter of the late Lester and Edith (Squance) Daley. She was a 1932 graduate of GAR High School. Before retiring in 1979, she worked for the former Daley Blue Line Transfer Co. and the Bergmeyer Trucking Co. She was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church, Wilkes-Barre, where she was an elder, member of the Sunday school and choir.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Sara; and brothers, Robert and Arthur.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Robert; and brothers, Richard, Mountaintop; and William, Jacksonville, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be held Monday at the convenience of the family from the William A. Reese Funeral Chapel, rear 56 Gaylord Ave., Plymouth, with the Rev. Andrew Pillarella officiating. Margaret J. Perfinski, 74, English Street, West Wyoming, died Thursday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in West Wyoming, she was the daughter of the late John and Steffie Wedra Holub. Before retiring, she worked in the garment industry for 55 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, West Wyoming, and its Christian Mothers Altar & Rosary Society, and member of the Wyoming/West Wyoming Senior Citizens Club and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
She was preceded in death by her brother, John, Jr.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Frank; daughter, Linda Bucci, West Wyoming; son, Frank, Jr., Newark, Del.; four grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; sisters, Dorothy Vincent and Barbara Hoover, both of Wilmington, Del.; nieces and nephews.

Born in Duryea, she was the daughter of the William and Mary (Buzinkie) Scoda. She was a graduate of Duryea High School. She worked for Curtis Wright, Clifton, N.J., before retiring. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Duryea. She resided in Duryea for the past 12 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; and brother, William.
There are no immediate survivors.

John "Jack" Cool Jr., 82, of New Britain, Conn., died Friday at New Britain General Hospital.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he lived in New Britain since 1946. He worked at Stanley Tools Division of Stanley Works for 40 years, retiring as an assistant foreman in 1982. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, New Britain, Stanley Seniors and the American Legion Post, Rocky Hill, Conn. He volunteered at the Friendship Service Center and was formerly associated with Boy Scout Troop 3 at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Emma (Erwine) Cool; daughter, Dorothy Jean, New Britain; one granddaughter; brother, Arthur, Wilkes-Barre; sister, Mary Bianco, Wilkes-Barre; and several nieces and nephews.
