Carrie Jo Larish, 19, of Mocanaqua, died Sunday as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile crash.
Born July 22, 1981, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of Joseph N. Larish, Mocanaqua, and the late Bonnie Lee (Bojonny) Larish. She was a 1999 graduate of John S. Fine High School, Nanticoke, was attending Luzerne County Community College, and was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Polish Falcons, both of Mocanaqua.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Lee; and maternal grandmother, Betty Bojonny.
Surviving are her father, Joseph N., Mocanaqua; brother, Bradley Allan, Kingston; maternal grandfather, James Bojonny, Kingston; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Sophia Larish, Mocanaqua; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 420 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, with the Rev. Gregory Finn officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Park, Carverton section of Franklin Township. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Edwin Powers, of Susquehanna Avenue, West Pittston, died Sunday at home.
Born in Pittston, he was a son of the late Austin and Mary (Eagen) Powers. He was a graduate of Pittston High School, attended the University of Scranton and was the co-owner of A.S. Powers and Sons Plumbing and Heating Supply, Pittston. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, Pittston Kiwanis and fourth degree member of the Pittston Knights of Columbus, J.F.K. Chapter 372.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Jean Welsh; sister, Agnes Allan; and brother, James.
Surviving are his daughter, Debbie Klaproth, West Pittston; one grandson; brother, Austin, Allentown; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Donnelly-Callahan Funeral Home, 802 Susquehanna Ave., West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church. John Francis Rouse, 62, of Albany Township and Hernando Beach, Fla., formerly of Johnson City, N.Y., and Vestal, N.Y., died Sunday at the Robert Packer Hospital.
Born April 22, 1938, in Albany Township, he was a son of Josephine (Saxe) Rouse Cain, Johnson City, and the late Francis Xavier "Zack" Rouse. He was a 1956 graduate of Johnson City High School, worked for IBM, Owego, N.Y.; and Lockheed Martin, Florida, and served in the U.S. Navy.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 39 years, the former Diane Carley; son, John F., Jr., Wellington, Fla.; daughters, Kelly Walterscheid, Chandler, Ariz.; and Karen Stanish, Hollywood, Fla.; six grandchildren; brother, William, Johnson City; sisters, Margaret Albrechta, Binghamton, N.Y.; Teresa Hanafin, Endicott, N.Y.; Susan Michalak, Johnson City; Rosemary Wood, Binghamton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Mary Theresa; sister, Ann Novovesky; and brother, Daniel.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Basil's Catholic Church, Dushore, with the Rev. Michael B. Harris officiating. Interment will be in St. Basil's Cemetery. Merlyn J. Thacher, 82, of Lakeside Drive, Harveys Lake, died Monday at the Veterans Administrative Center, Washington, D.C.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late William P. and Minnie Thacher. He was a graduate of Coughlin High School and a merchandise manager on the vice president's staff for Sears in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Wilkes-Barre. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific and member of the Shavertown United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn (Wenner) Thacher.
Surviving are his son, Leonard J., Woodbridge, Va.; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday from the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 672 Memorial Highway, Dallas. The Rev. James A. Wert will officiate. Harriet Jane (Gibbs) Townsend, 85, formerly of Watchung, N.J., died Saturday at Moravian Manor, Lititz.
Born in Belin Village, Luzerne County, she was the daughter of the late Peirsoncq Saint and Beatrice (Perry) Gibbs. She was a real estate salesperson in Watchung and attended nurses training school at Auburn City Hospital, New York.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Bond Townsend.
Surviving are her daughter, Judith Jane Kinnier, Lititz; twin sons, Perry B., Bradenton, Fla.; and Roger G., Tampa, Fla.; one granddaughter, one great-grandson; four stepgrandchildren; half-sister, Gail DeRemer, Harrisburg; and stepsisters, Elizabeth McClintock, Scranton; and Doris Sheperd, Chinchilla.
A Service of Remembrance will be conducted at a future time and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be private in the family plot in March Cemetery, Duryea.

Kenneth C. Wallace, 76, of McGovern Hill, Askam section of Hanover Township, died Monday at the Birchwood Nursing Center, Nanticoke.
Born July 23, 1924, in the Lee Park section of Hanover Township, he was a son of the late Kenneth C. and Helen (Kemmerer) Wallace. He was a graduate of Hanover High School, worked for Interstate Dress Carriers, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Teamsters Union Local 401.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Theresa (Corbett) Wallace.
Surviving are his sons, Ken, Shavertown section of Kingston Township; Frank, Sweet Valley section of Ross Township; and Patrick, Sugar Notch; daughters, Mary Nice, Sweet Valley; Helen Priestman, Askam; Roberta Dunbar, Tulsa, Okla.; and Judy Simonovitch, Askam; 22 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Briel, Camp Hill; and June Stull, Lee Park; brothers, Don, Mechanicsburg; and Billy, Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

(Lussi) Ferretti, of Poole Street, Pittston Township, died Friday at VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit of Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.Born and raised in Old Boston, Jenkins Township, she was the daughter of the late Primo and Elisa Pierelli Lussi. She was a graduate of Jenkins High School and resided in Pittston Township for 55 years.

J. Harvey Scouton, 97, of Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, died Friday at Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Dec. 8, 1902, in Tunkhannock, he was the son of the late James and Mercy Brunges Scouton. He graduated from Coughlin High School in 1921 and attended Lafayette College for two years.
He served as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Puritan Congregational Church, Wilkes-Barre; the American Legion; and the National Rifle Association. He was a local building contractor and one of the oldest members of the Carpenters Union, Local 514.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Hicks Scouton; and sister, Rebecca.
Surviving are a step son, Eugene Brannon, Pittsburgh; son, Howard Scouton, Wilkes-Barre; daughter, Lura Zaremba, at home; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Gerald Flasser, of Sambourne Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Sept. 17, 1932, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Cronauer Flasser. He attended St. Nicholas School and was employed in the local garment industry for several years. He was a life member of St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving are his brothers, Charles, Piscataway, N.J.; Edward, Wilkes-Barre; Bernard, Dallas; sisters, Eleanor Rowe, Wilkes-Barre; Rita Potocky, Bethlehem; Dorothy Flasser, Wilkes-Barre; nieces and nephews.

Jeane E. Keiser, of West Main Street, Nanticoke, died Saturday at Mercy Health Care Center, Hanover Township.
Born Oct. 28, 1919, in Alden, she was the daughter of the late Morgan and Vienna Faust Williams. She attended Newport Township schools.
She worked at Plymouth Dress Co., Nanticoke, for many years before retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. She and her husband, William J. Keiser, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 29.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Alonzo and Thomas.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a brother, Morgan Williams Jr., Pottstown; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at a time to be announced Tuesday from the Mamary-Durkin Funeral Services Corp., 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre.

Joseph "Pepi" Cardoni, of South Main Street, Plains Township, passed away Friday evening at the Heritage House Hospice Care Unit of the VNA.
Born in the Hilldale section of Plains Township, he was the son of the late Enrico and Marsiglia Pizzecelli. He was educated in the Plains Township schools.
He was a partner in Tavella & Cardoni Trucking and was employed by Capone Coal Co. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Plains Township. He and his wife, the former Irene Smolenyak, celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on Jan. 23.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Frank, Gino, Louie and Herman Cardoni; sisters, Sue Dominick and Louisa Vanyo.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Irene, are sons, Joseph Jr., Binghamton, N.Y.; Dennis, Plains Township; Wayne, Allentown; daughter, Mrs. Monica Stevens, Plains Township; sisters, Della Houseold, Radnor; Violet Williams, Plains Township; grandchildren, Wayne Cardoni, Christopher Cardoni, Douglas Cardoni, Elissa Cardoni, Lia Cardoni, Josh Stevens and Maria Burke; great-grandchildren, Kerry, Nicholas and Eva Burke and Alexa Cardoni; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John J. Chopyak, 90, of Old Forge, died Saturday at the Hospice Preferred Choice Inpatient Unit at Mid Valley Hospital.
Born Aug. 22, 1909, in Old Forge, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Hunold Chopyak. A life resident of Old Forge, he graduated from Old Forge High School in 1939 and from the Collier School of Mortuary Science, New York City.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a self-employed funeral director in Old Forge for many years. He was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 513, Veterans of Foreign Wars De Rossa-Orzolek Post and the Eagle McClure Hose Co., all of Old Forge.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph and George Chopyak; sisters, Anna Mayurnick, Mary Chaya, Helen Mazaleski, Margaret String and Agnes Zara.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mildred Allin, with whom he celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary in Sept., 1999; and several nieces and nephews.

Donald "Ducker" P. Cawley, 71, of Stout Street, Pittston, died Saturday at his home.
Born Dec. 25, 1928, in Pittston, he was the son of the late Patrick A. and Regina Quinn Cawley. He was a graduate of St. John's High School, Pittston. He worked for Atlas Chain & Manufacturing Co., West Pittston; Kingston Metal, Luzerne; and retired as superintendent of streets for Pittston in 1995.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston; numerous Veterans of Foreign Wars posts; American Legion Post 477; the Fraternal Order of Police and was an officer with Atlas Chain Federal Credit Union.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Champlin; brothers, Robert and Jerry Cawley.

Joseph A. Martin Sr., of Hemlock Drive, Clarks Summit, died Friday at Community Medical Center, Scranton.
Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Anthony and Josephine Leeshock Martin. He was a graduate of Kingston High School, King's College, Fairfield University and Seton Hall University.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Marines. He was formerly employed as a teacher in West Milford, N.J., retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Mary's Annunciation Church, Kingston.
Surviving are his wife, the former Lillian Gregovich, with whom he celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary in July; son, Joseph J. Martin, Clarks Summit; daughter, Elaine Martin, Camp Hill; sister, Ann Adams, Harveys Lake; brother, William Martin, Luzerne; one grandchild; nieces and nephews.

Ann M. Nestorick, 79, of Maxwell Street, in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday at Partridge Tippett Nursing Facility at Wesley Village, Jenkins Township.
Born Jan. 5, 1921, in Laflin, she was the daughter of the late John and Rose Stedina Thomas Naut. A graduate of Coughlin High School, she was employed in the garment industry for many years and later for J.C.Penney Co.
She was a member of Holy Saviour Church, Wilkes-Barre, and its Altar and Rosary Society; Five Points Senior Citizens, East End; a volunteer at John Heinz Institute; and a founding member of the Quilting Club of Holy Saviour Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Nestorick; and sister, Olga Naut.
Surviving are her daughters, Roseann Nestorick, at home; Barbara Dutt, Plains Township; sons, Robert J. Nestorick, Hampstead, Md.; brother, Joseph J. Naut, Wilkes-Barre; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
