Charles E. "Chet" Gleockler, 76, of Dushore, died Wednesday at the Memorial Hospital, Towanda.
Born March 16, 1924, in Forksville, he was a son of the late Chester F. and Ada (Yonkin) Gleockler. He was a 1942 graduate of Loyalsock Area High School, Estella. He was a truck driver for the former Dolly Madison Creamery and successors, owned and operated the Green Swan Hotel, Dushore, and worked for Cherry Township. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Basil's Catholic Church and Loyalsock Post 996 American Legion, both of Dushore, and the AJ Bird Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 384, New Albany.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert C.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, the former Mary Theresa Scanlin; sons, Gerald L. and James M., both of Dushore; daughters, Patricia Renshaw, Dushore; and Sandra Richmond, Hillsgrove; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard C., Forksville; and Leon C., Allegany, N.Y.; sisters, Rita D. Tubach, Forksville; and Shirley P. Bonnell, Montoursville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred. The Rev. Michael B. Harris will officiate. Interment will be in St. Basil's Cemetery, Dushore. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Graveside military services will be accorded by members of the Loyalsock Post 996 American Legion. Members are asked to assemble and pass in review at 7:15 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.

Ralph Francis Hettinger, 95, of South Seventh Avenue, West Reading, Berks County, died Tuesday at Phoebe Nursing Home, Wernersville, Berks County, where she was a resident since December, 1999.
Born in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Charles Elmer and Catherine (Williams) Hettinger. He was a 1923 graduate of Plymouth High School. He was an engineering associate for Bell Telephone Co. of Pennsylvania. He was president of the Reading Council of Bell Telephone Pioneers and the Leonard Kinard Pioneers of Central Area of Bell Telephone. During World War II, he was in charge of Civil Defense Communications for West Reading. He was a member, council member and choir member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing, and member of Masonic Blue Lodge, Plymouth, 332. He earned eagle scout in Plymouth and was scoutmaster to several troops in West Reading and Wyomissing. He received the DeMolay Legion of Honor Award in Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving are his daughters, Frances (Hettinger) Whitehall, Spring Township; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenburg Township. Arrangements are by the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading.

Mary Dorothy Hodorowski, 82, of Kingston, died Wednesday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born March 22, 1918, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Helen (Sienkiewicz) Grzybowski. She was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre schools. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Larksville, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a charter president of the Christian Mothers at St. Mary's Church of the Maternity, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; and brothers, Joseph, Thomas, John, Stanley and Charles Grzybowski.
Surviving are her sons, Michael, Mark and Matthew, all of Kingston; daughters, Judy, Kingston; and Carol Bingham, Wyoming; two grandchildren; sisters, Anna Grzybowski and Caroline Yankowski, both of South Plainfield, N.J.; and JoAnn Panzitta, Morrisville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 420 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church of the Maternity, Wilkes-Barre. Monsignor Alexander Kulik will officiate. Catherine L. Krzywicki, 82, of Bear Creek Boulevard, Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday at Scripps Memorial Hospital, Encinitas, Calif.
Born Aug. 8, 1918, in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Louise (Kleinsorge) Conlon. She was a graduate of Kingston High School. She was a member of Holy Saviour/St. Christopher Parish, Wilkes-Barre, and its Altar and Rosary Society.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Adamski.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Edmund; son, Edmund Charles, "Bud" Enterprise, Ala.; daughter, Mary Lou Loughnane, Newtown section of Hanover Township; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty C. Ward, Lancaster; and Rita Donley, Callingdale; and several nieces and one nephew.

Donald J. Transue, 90, of White Haven, formerly of the Rolling Mill Hill section of Wilkes-Barre and former resident of Smith Nursing Home, Mountaintop, died Tuesday at Mercy Special Care Hospital, Nanticoke.
Born in Plains Township, he was a son of the late Albert and Molly (Murray) Transue. He attended the Wilkes-Barre City schools, He worked for A & P Stores in the Greater Wilkes-Barre area. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 3522nd Ordinance Medium Automotive Maintenance Co. in the European Theater. He was a member of the White Haven Post, American Legion and the Wilkes-Barre Republics Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva (Searfoss) Transue; and brother, Ed.
Surviving are his daughters, Dona Reinmiller, Sybertsville; and Alma Love, Blakeslee; and two grandchildren.
A Private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family from the H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home, Inc., 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Theresa A. Pace, of Cook Street, Hudson section of Plains Township, died Tuesday at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born in the Midvale section of Plains Township, she was a daughter of the late Henry M. and Bernadette (Shanahan) Pace. She was a member of St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Agnes Cafferey and Helen; and brother, Francis.
Surviving are her cousins, Jeanne Fox, with whom she lived; and Mary Fox Jiles, Stratford, Conn.; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception. William A. Petrucci, 78, of Wyoming Avenue, Exeter, died Wednesday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born Nov. 18, 1921, in Exeter, he was a son of the late Anthony and Lucy (Cerano) Petrucci. He owned and operated Modern Market, Exeter. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, Exeter, and the board of directors at Emanon Country Club, Falls.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie (Pennella) Petrucci; brother, John; and sister, Alvia Cella.
Surviving are his son, Anthony, Exeter; one grandson; brother, Vito; nieces and nephews.

Janet C. Wint, 98, formerly of Oaklawn Avenue, Hanover Township, and Jacksonville, Fla., died Feb. 23.She was born April 12, 1901, in Plymouth. She taught first grade in the Plymouth School System. She was a member of the former Douglas Presbyterian Church, now Christ United Presbyterian Church, Hanover Township. She was involved and active in the Girl Scouts of America and a volunteer for the American Red Cross.

John C. Adams Jr., of RR 1 Meshoppen, died Thursday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident early in the day.
Born Feb. 6, 1975, at Warren Robbins Air Force Base, Macon, Ga., he was a son of John C. Adams, Tunkhannock, and Dawn M. (Shaffer) Franko, Meshoppen, and stepson of Robert Franko, Meshoppen. He was a 1993 graduate of Tunkhannock High School. He worked for Bonavita Construction, Meshoppen.
Surviving are his son, Logan Shane, Deerfield Beach, Fla.; brothers, Christopher 0., Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas; and Robert P. Franko, III, Camp Le Jeune, N.C.; sister, Leah Marie Franko, Meshoppen; fiancee, Theresa Bonavita, Meshoppen; paternal grandfather, Walter Adams, Tunkhannock; paternal stepgrandparents, Robert and Helen Roote Franko, Meshoppen; maternal grandmother, Madeline Keeble, Tunkhannock; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Born Jan. 21, 1914, in Italy, she was a daughter of the late Narraro and Lenora Monte. She worked for Sanitary Laundry Co., Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Wilkes-Barre, and its Sacred Heart Society. Surviving are her sons, Joseph, Wilkes-Barre; and Nazzara, Syracuse, N.Y.; daughter, Philomena Gruver, Piscataway, N.J.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Viccica, West Wyoming; Katherine Mulley, Wilkes-Barre; Angie Sigmond, Luzerne; and Lucy Monte, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dominick; and brothers, Onafrio and Joseph Monte.

Josephine A. (Crisano) Cleasby, 63, of Main Road, Dallas, died Thursday at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born in Washington Heights, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Giovanni and Rose Sudano. She was a certified nurse's aide at Valley Crest.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ann Larsen; and first husband, Vincent Crisano.
Surviving are her second husband of 13 years, Thomas R.; daughter, Theresa Scavone, Plains Township; sons, Vincent and Michael Crisano, both of Kingston; and John Crisano, Hawaii; stepdaughters, Sherry McCue, Dallas; Beth Shubilla, Kingston; Patricia Cleasby, Chicago; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Francis and Salvatore Sudano, both of Long Island, N.Y.; and Philip Sudano, Florida; and sister, Sarah Wicks, Florida.

John A. "Jack" Crew, formerly of South Wilkes-Barre and Thornhurst, died Thursday at Davis Manor, Mountaintop.
Born Aug. 16, 1915, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Fred and Amelia (Tamblyn) Crew. He was a graduate of Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre. He worked for the Glen Alden Coal Co. and owned and operated Crew's Texaco Service Station, Wilkes-Barre. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Firwood United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre, and Anthracite Post Veterans of Foreign Wars 283, Kingston.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest and Stanley; and sister, Irene Dalon.
Surviving are one nephew and several nieces.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the Frederick & Snowdon Funeral Home, 617 Carey Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Bette J. Poe officiating. Burial will be in Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover Township. William J. Donohoe, 83, of Alexandria, Va., formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died Oct. 6 at the Comfort Cottages nursing residence in Fairfax, Va.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre. He was a Pentagon public affairs officer, Army Department's chief freedom of information officer, reporter for the Wilkes-Barre Record and an aide to Rep. Harold Flannery (D-Pa.)
He attended an Army information school program at Washington and Lee University and was a civilian War Department speech writer. He was a defense speech writer, did liaison work on Capitol Hill during the Truman and Eisenhower administrations
He was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, serving in the Far East.
Surviving are his wife, Anne (Schober) Donohoe, formerly of Forty Fort; daughters, Anne Marie Feeney and Mollie Tkacik, both of Alexandria; four grandchildren; and sister, Mary D. Blewitt, Pittston.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Alexandria. Interment was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Alexandria. Funeral arrangements were by the Demaine Funeral Home, Alexandria.

Mary P. Hart, 93, formerly of Grove Street, Avoca, died Thursday at Mary's Villa, Elmhurst.
Born April 17, 1907, in Avoca, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Ellen (McGowan) Hart. She was a graduate of St. John's High School, Pittston, and East Stroudsburg Teacher College. She also did graduate work at College Misericordia, Dallas Township. She taught at schools in Duryea and Great Bend and at the Pittston Area School District. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Avoca, the Altar and Rosary Society, Avoca Senior Citizens and the state and local chapters of the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Teachers.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Doris Kelly, Evelyn O'Boyle and Gertrude Knuth.
Surviving are her cousin, Veronica McGowan, Avoca; two nieces and two nephews.
The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home Inc., 728 Main St., Avoca, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. The Rev. Ruth W. McHenry, 86, died Thursday at Tiffany Court, Edwardsville.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on Nov. 21, 1913, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Florence R. (Fink) Williams. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Wilkes-Barre. She was a 1931 graduate of Meyers High School and the Wyoming Valley Hospital School of Nursing. She received her bachelor's degree in 1948 from Wilkes College and received her master's degrees in nursing education and administration at Columbia University Teachers College, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Pi Lambda Theta.
She was the director of nursing at Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia, and served as the director of nursing service and education at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital from 1951 to 1958. She was an assistant professor of nursing education administration at Penn State University and was a professor of nursing education administration at Syracuse University for eight years. She began the nursing program at Wilkes University, where she retired as professor emeritus of nursing education administration in 1981.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. McHenry, and sisters Doris Sliker and Thelma Hale.
Surviving are her nieces, Ruthellen Rau, Wilkes-Barre; Susan Rothwell, Indianapolis, Ind.; Virginia Slusser, Berwick; and Beverly Moon, Lawrenceville, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Eleanor "Norie" Kochanski, 74, of Blair Street, Plymouth, died Thursday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born Feb. 22, 1926, in Plymouth, she was a daughter of the late William and Victoria (Judzikowski) Malachefski. She attended Plymouth Borough schools. She was a presser for Ricky's Fashions, a division of Leslie Fay, Wilkes-Barre, and worked for Dowing Dress, Plymouth, and other garment companies in the area. She was a member of St. Mary's-St. Stephen's Church Community, Plymouth, and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard F.; infant son, Bernard; sisters, Ann Byczkowski and Bridget Yacuboski; and brothers, Aloysius, Vincent, John, William and Lawrence Malachefski.
Surviving are her son, Larry, Plymouth; daughter, Sharon Kafchinski, Plymouth; four grandchildren; and sisters, Helen Petrosky, Plymouth; and Dolores Greendale, Rutherford, N.J.

Rodney P. Sorber, 50, of Pikes Creek, died Thursday at home.
Born April 20, 1950, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of Delores (Roberts) Sorber, Sweet Valley, and the late Philip Sorber. He was a 1968 graduate of Lake-Lehman High School. He worked for Stabler Construction, Harrisburg, and Keiper Enterprises, Hughesville. He attended the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church, Harveys Lake.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Patla.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 31 years, the former Donna Hoover; sons, Bart P. and Brett P., both at home; brother, Bradley, Sweet Valley; sisters, Phylisscq Dale, Sweet Valley; and Lisa, Sweet Valley.

Born in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Greytak) Lianna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, Sr.; brother, Rudolph; and sisters, Margaret and Betty.
Surviving are her daughter, Margaret Clere, Canton; sons, Robert, Jr. and David, both of Canton; and John, Applecreek, Ohio; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Montie, Wyandotte, Mich.; and Theresa Lianna, Nanticoke; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Canton. Cremation and interment was in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens, Canton. Arrangements were by the Cledus T. Reed Funeral Home, Canton.
