Margaret C. Polinsky, 77, formerly of Forty Fort, died Friday at the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Center, Allentown.
Born Feb. 2, 1923, in Czechoslovakia, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Matej. She worked for the United Pants Factory, Swoyersville. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville, the Altar and Rosary Society and was active in various church organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P.; and brother, Joseph.
Surviving are her daughter, Elizabeth Keating, Bethlehem, with whom she resided; son, Joseph, Holmdel, N.J.; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and brothers, John and Robert, both of Ohio.
The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. Interment will be in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Friends may call from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday by the Altar and Rosary Society.

Milton C. Richards, 66, of Liverpool, N.Y., died Friday at his home.
Born in Buffalo, N.Y., he was the son of the late Milton and Mable (Chase) Richards. He was a graduate of Meyers High School and Oklahoma State University and attended the American Institute of Baking in Chicago. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a sales manager for Drescher Corp., Liverpool. He was a communicant of Christ the King Church, Bayberry, councilman for the Clay Town Board and Cub Scout master of Pack 203, Liverpool.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, the former Maureen E. Butler; sons, Dr. Milton E., Turlock, Calif.; and Gerald W., Liverpool; four grandchildren; sister, Mable F. Solomon, Pompano, Fla.; nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be at 12 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township, with Father Thomas Major officiating. Arrangements are by the Leo P. Lehman Funeral Home, 689 Hazle Ave., Wilkes-Barre.

Bernard G. Swift, 69, of Jackson Street, Dallas, formerly of Roselle Park, N.J., died Thursday at his home.
Born in Pittston, he was a son of the late James and Agnes (Murphy) Swift. He was a graduate of Pittston High School. He was a machine operator for the US Postal Service, Newark, N.J. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He attended Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas, and was a member of the Daddow Isaacs American Legion Post 672, Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Martin; and sisters, Peggy Ann and Blanch.
Surviving are his stepsons, Andrew Peranto, Rahway, N.J.; and Russell Race, Center Moreland; stepdaughters, Patricia Hann, Dallas; Geraldine Orr, Kearny, N.J.; 14 stepgrandchildren, 28 stepgreat-grandchildren; brothers, William James, Pittston; and Patrick, Mine Hill, N.J.; and sister, Helen Coles, Manahawkin, N.J.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., Dallas, with the Rev. John C. Lambert officiating. A Memorial Mass will be at a time to be announced. There will be no calling hours. Samuel E. Thompson, 81, of Wooster, Ohio, died Tuesday at the Glendora Health Care Center, Wooster.
Born July 4, 1919, in Forty Fort, he was a son of the late Joseph and Eva (Garnett) Thompson. He was a bus driver for Greyhound Bus Services and was a courier for Lorain National Bank, Lorain, Ohio. He was a member of Pathway Church of God, Orrville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Harold and Floyd; and sister, Alida Conway.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, the former Loretta A. Cook; son, Allen F., Kansas City, Mo.; daughters, Eva Ann Taylor, Madison, Miss.; and Lora Kay Ledford, Wooster; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Lois, Forty Fort.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Foursquare Gospel Church, Mount Vernon, Ohio, with Dr. J. Eugene Kurtz, Rev. Myrtle Eppler and Rev. Milton J. Ledford officiating. Joseph Vaxmonsky, 90, of First Street, Wyoming, died Wednesday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born Sept. 7, 1910, in Pittston, he was a son of the late Thomas and Eva (Pavlica) Vaxmonsky. He worked in the area mines and for James Eagen and Sons, Wyoming. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pittston.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael, Andrew, John, Jacob and Thomas; and sister, Helen Bonchonsky.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, the former Mary Secula; daughter, Carol Subache, Wyoming; son, Joseph Vax, Greenville, Wis.; four grandchildren; sister, Mary Prischak, West Pittston; and several nieces and nephews.
A private funeral was held at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements were by the Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Elizabeth "Betty" (Kosco) Brand, of San Gabriel, Calif., died Nov. 9 at St. Luke's Hospital, Pasadena, Calif.
She was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Kosco. She formerly resided in Swoyersville and was a graduate of Swoyersville High School. She retired from the Bank of America.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Kosco.
Surviving are her sons, Leonard Jugus, Palmdale, Calif.; Scott Brand, San Gabriel; sister, Martye Ramutkoski, Glendora, Calif.; brother, Michael Kosco, Wyoming; one grandson; two nephews and a niece.

Dolores M. Carmadella, 49, of Old Forge, died Friday in Community Medical Center, Scranton.
Born May 10, 1951, in Scranton, she was the daughter of Jennie Cherundolo Carmadella, of Old Forge, and the late Anthony L. Carmadella. She was a 1969 graduate of Old Forge High School.
She was formerly employed as a driver for UPS in Miami. She was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, West Grace Street, Old Forge.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lucy Cherundolo.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are a brother, Anthony Carmadella, Old Forge; a niece, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Anna "Nan" Berkant, of Lee Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday in Hospice Community Care Unit at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Ashley, she was the daughter of the late William and Alverta Aten Biggs. She was a 1948 graduate of Ashley High School.
She resided in Ashley most of her life before moving to Lee Park more than a year ago. She was employed with the food services for Hanover Area School District and Blue Cross, Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Ashley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; brother, William; and sister, Gayle McPeek.
Surviving are her sons, William, White Haven; Robert, Ashley; daughter, Nancy Kozicki, Kunkletown; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth (Croop) Hughes, 79, of Harveys Lake, and formerly of Kingston, died Friday at her home, following an illness.
Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Harry W. Croop and Elizabeth McCloskey Croop. She graduated from Wyoming Seminary College Preparation School. She attended Edgewood Park Junior College and graduated from College Misericordia.
She resided at Harveys Lake since 1973. She formerly resided on Rutter Avenue in Kingston. She and her husband, Bob, operated a snackbar in the Veterans Administration Building, North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, for many years.
She was preceded in death by her brother, J. William Croop.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, Robert R. Hughes, are daughters, Elizabeth H. Stankus, Kingston; Margaret P. Hughes, Santa Cruz, Calif.; sister, Jane Carey, Rockville, Md.; brother, Harry W. Croop Jr., Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; and three grandsons.

Helen L. Kundla, 89, of Second Avenue, Collegeville, a former resident of Dupont, died Friday at Towne Manor West, Norristown.
Born Sept. 1, 1911, in Avoca, she was the daughter of the late Ignatius and Constance Skerkowski. She attended Avoca schools and resided in Dupont most of her life.
Before retiring, she was employed at Saquoit Silk Mill, Scranton. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; brothers, John, Joseph, and Lucian Skerkowski; sisters, Victoria Maziarz, Mary Snopkowski and Stella Maziarz.
Surviving are her daughter, Phyllis Carota, with whom she resided for the past two years, Collegeville; two grandsons; two step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday from Kizis-Lokuta Funeral Home, 134 Church St., Pittston, with a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Frank Masakowski, 79, of Mesa, Ariz., died Nov. 8 in Mesa.
Born May 30, 1921, in Nanticoke, he was the son of the late John and Stasia Gorney Masakowski. He was a graduate of Nanticoke High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was employed with the U.S. Army Department in the field of cryptography at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., before retiring. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church, Tuscon, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose (Garissta); and brother, Albin.
Surviving are brothers, Michael, Garrett Park, Md.; Mosignor John, Nanticoke; Joseph, Hanover Township; Rev. Edward, Inkerman; Daniel, Worcester, Mass.; Ladisla Kowalski, Larksville; Sabina Pietrasko, Neptune, N.J.; Joan Jackson, Mechanicsburg; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Donald M. McDade, 87, of Independence Road, Mountaintop, died Thursday at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Cathleen and Jack McDonald, Davie, Fla.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Tosh McDade. He was a graduate of Hanover High School and Bloomsburg University.
He attended Wilkes, Bucknell, Temple and Penn State universities, studying in various areas. He received his bachelor of science degrees in elementary education and secondary education and a master's degree in supervision and administration.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Before retiring, he was employed as the superintendent of Hanover Area School District. He was a life member of Kappa Phi Kappa; member of St. Jude's Church, Mountaintop; and published articles in several professional magazines.
He was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
Surviving, in addition to his daughter, are his wife, the former Mary Pasternick; son, Paul, Quakake; one grandson; nieces and nephews.

Ella L. Mundy, 86, of South Hanover Street, Nanticoke, died Saturday at her home. She was in failing health for several years.
Born Nov. 20, 1913, in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Adelia (Oplinger) Mundy. She attended Nanticoke public schools and graduated from Nanticoke High School in 1931. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in education from Bucknell University, Lewisburg.
She was a member of the Nanticoke High School faculty, where she taught ancient, Pennsylvania and United States history. She retired in 1974 after 38 years of service.
Surviving are cousins.

Nellie G. (Kitchen) Rood, 71, of Sorber Mountain, Lake Township, died Thursday at St. Luke's Hospital, New York City.
Born Sept. 24, 1929, in Shavertown, Kingston Township, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Rhoda Kocher Kitchen.
She was a member of the Ruggles United Methodist Church, where she held many offices, and was also an honorary member of the Harveys Lake Women's Service Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Rood.
Surviving are daughters, Ellen Otten, Mehoopany; Joyce Honeywell, Noxen; Cynthia McLaughlin, Wethersfield, Conn.; sisters, Vera Loomis, Orange City, Fla.; Sara Duko, Boothwyn; and six grandchildren.
