Eleanor McFadden Patton, 82, a life resident of Second Avenue, Kingston, died Friday at Hospice Care of the VNA Inpatient Unit at Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Nov. 30, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Catherine McFadden. She graduated from St. Mary's High School, Wilkes-Barre, and worked for the administrator of Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, before her marriage.
She was an associate of Betty Kanaar Realtor and Associates and was assistant and office manager for Dr. Samuel Buckman, ophthalmologist.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Parish, Kingston, its Altar and Rosary Society and the Lions Club Auxiliary. She volunteered many hours at local nursing homes and was a volunteer at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Patton; son, William; sister, Mary Carey; and brother, Edward McFadden.
Surviving are her daughter, Ginny Bosher, Jupiter, Fla.; foster son, John A. Barrett, Ph.D., Los Angeles; brother, Robert McFadden, Cape May, N.J.; one grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday from McLaughlin Funeral Service, 416 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, with a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church, North Maple Avenue, Kingston. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of the VNA.
Ruminski, Irene

Irene Ruminski, 78, formerly of Railroad Street, Glen Lyon, died Saturday at Birchwood Nursing Home, Nanticoke.
Born June 5, 1922, in Glen Lyon, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Petronella Smolinski Rachunas. She was a graduate of Newport Township High School, class of 1940.
A life resident of Glen Lyon, she was employed by Engle Manufacturing Co., Glen Lyon, as a sewing machine operator, retiring in 1969.
She was a member of St. Adalbert's Church, Glen Lyon; Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 8353; and American Legion Auxiliary Post 539.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Ruminski.
Surviving are nieces, Roseanne Gnudi, Plainfield, N.J.; Jean Krohel, Harveys Lake; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday from George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., Glen Lyon, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Adalbert's Church. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Glen Lyon. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 8353 and American Legion Auxiliary Post 539 are asked to meet at the funeral home to conduct services Monday evening.
Szeliga, Albert

Albert Szeliga, of Dupont, died Friday at the Community Medical Center, Scranton.
Born in Poland, he was the son of the late Andrew and Anna Wojtyla Szeliga.
He served in the Polish Army during World War II and fought in the Polish Campaign. He was a prisoner of war in Germany for six years.
He was self-employed as a carpenter before retiring and was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Dupont.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Stanley, Joseph, Andrew and John; sisters, Louise, Maria and Stephanie.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ann Krawiec; son, Mark, Dupont; sisters, Anna Pach and Rose Kruk, both of Poland; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Stephen M. Lokuta Funeral Home, 200 Wyoming Ave., Dupont, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Dupont. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Roger W. vonAhrens, of Ring Road, Factoryville, died Friday in Tyler Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 27, 1940, in San Jose, Calif., he was the son of the late Robert and Dagny A. VanMaarth vonAhrens. He was a 1958 graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy.
He was the owner and president of Robvon Backing Ring Co., Factoryville.
Surviving are his wife, Cecelia Scott vonAhrens; son, Roger Jr., Factoryville; daughters, Greta vonAhrens, West Pittston; Christina Zagata, Factoryville; Joanna vonAhrens Guinee, Streamwood, Ill.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Monday from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with Father John Polednak, of St. Patrick's Church, Nicholson, officiating. Weiland, Sister Mary Verona

Sister Mary Verona Weiland, a member of the Dallas Regional Community of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, died Saturday at Mercy Center, Dallas.
The former Eileen Honora Sullivan, she was born Sept. 25, 1913, in Spangler, the daughter of the later John J. and Coletta Dumm Sullivan. At age three, she was adopted by the late Henry and Barbara Hoffman Weiland.
She was educated in St. Nicholas School, Nicktown, and was a graduate of Mt. Aloysius Academy, Cresson. She earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from College Misericordia, Dallas.
She entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1932 at St. Agnes, Baltimore, and professed her first vows in 1935. She taught elementary school for two years in the diocese of Pittsburgh and in the Altoona Johnstown diocese for 53 years, 26 of which were at St. Matthew School, Tyrone.
She retired to McAuley Hall, Cresson, in 1990 and joined the Prayer Ministry at Mercy Center, Dallas, in 1995.
She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Sr. M. Protase Sullivan, R.S.M.; sister, Gertrude Weiland; brothers, Urban, Martin, Henry and George Weiland.
Surviving are her sister, Sr. M. Berchmans Ager, R.S.M., Dallas; nieces and nephews.
Transferal to Mercy Center, Dallas, will be at 1 p.m. Monday. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. in Blessed Sacrament Chapel, with a wake service at 7 p.m. Transferal to McAuley Hall, Cresson, will be Tuesday. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. A funeral mass will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, Mt. Aloysius College, Cresson. Clare D. (Hynoski) Bockon, 81, of the Austin Heights section of Old Forge, died Saturday at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton.
Born Dec. 2, 1909, in Old Forge, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Nora (Piorek) Hynoski.
She was a 1937 graduate of Old Forge High School.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, Austin Heights, Old Forge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; brothers, Robert, Elmer, Edmund, Adam and Andrew; and sisters, Helen Dolgash and Ann Morgan.
Surviving are her daughters, Clare Welgoss, Tonawanda, N.Y.; and Sandra Howerton, Old Forge; three grandsons; two great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church, with the Rev. Cyril J. Rable officiating.
Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Old Forge.

Helen R. (Lesichko) Bogorowski, 70, of Fairview Drive, Nanticoke, died Saturday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Feb. 2, 1930, in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Lesichko.
She attended Nanticoke High School.
She worked for the Duplan Silk Mill, RCA Corp., Mountaintop, and the Wyoming Valley Country Club, Hanover Township.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Nanticoke, and its Christian Mothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony; and sister, Mary Lewis.
Surviving are her daughters, Karen Scatena, West Wyoming; and Meri Lenio, Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren; sisters, Ann Krul, Shark River Hills, N.J.; and Eleanor Soucar, Wenonah, N.J.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Thomas E. Buczkowski Funeral Home, 210 Pine St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Nanticoke.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Sister M. Sheila Brennan, of the Dallas Regional Community, Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, died Saturday at Mercy Center, Dallas.
Born Mary Agnes Brennan on June 27, 1906, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary (Campbell) Brennan.
She was a graduate of St. Ann's High School, Freeland, and earned a bachelor's degree from College Misericordia and a master's degree from Fordham University. She entered the Sisters of Mercy in Dallas in 1932, and professed her vows in 1935.
She was an elementary and high school teacher in the dioceses of Scranton, Harrisburg and Brooklyn, N.Y., and a faculty member at College Misericordia. She served on the parish staff at St. Joseph's Church, Wilkes-Barre Township, before joining the Prayer Ministry at Mercy Center.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Matthew, Mark and James.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, Mercy Center.
Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
Transferal to Mercy Center will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. in the chapel. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 p.m.

Born Jan. 26, 1927, in Fairfield, Ala., she was a daughter of the late Ed and Meady (Blake) Barfield.
She was an accountant for Pan Am Airlines, Miami, Fla.
She attended the Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Surviving are her husband of 37 years, Keith; daughters, Pat Carson, Palatka, Fla.; and Sharon Gacek, Bradenton, Fla.; stepdaughter, Sharon Traver, Tunkhannock; two grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 1 stepgreat-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at the convenience of the family from the Harding Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock.
Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.

Born in Luzerne, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine (Rosnick) Evans.
She was a licensed practical nurse at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, Kingston.
She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, and its Altar and Rosary Society and choir, and the West Side Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas, Glendon and Stanley K.; and sister, Flavian Zarzecki.
Surviving are sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home Inc., 568 Bennett St., Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. from Holy Family Parish in St. Ann's Church.
