Agnes Puto, of Brown Street, Duryea, died Sunday at Preferred Hospice Care, Mid-Valley Hospital, Peckville, after an illness.

Born in Avoca, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary Ann (Salamon) Puto.

She attended Avoca schools.

She worked for Sylvania Electric and Piper Aircraft, Lock Haven.

She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leo and Barney.

Surviving are her brother, Stanley, Baltimore, Md.; sister, Nellie, Duryea; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Ruane and Regan Funeral Home, 1308 Grove St., Avoca, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.

Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Dupont.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Schulz, Dorothy

Dorothy C. Schulz, 85, of Sanford, Fla., formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday at Central Florida Regional Hospital, Sanford, Fla.
Funeral arrangements are pending from the McLaughlin Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre.

Joseph P. Serafin Sr., of Brader Drive, Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday at the Medical College of Philadelphia.

Delphine (Searfoss) Sutton, 81, of Pensacola, Fla., died Saturday in Tallahassee, Fla.

Born in Lehman Township, she was a daughter of the late F. Raymond and Addie (Sutliff) Searfoss.

She was a graduate of Lehman High School and Wyoming Seminary Dean School of Business.

She was a cost accountant at Corning Glass, Wellsboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester J.; and sisters, Madeline Adamshick and Ruth Disque.

Surviving are her son, Chester J., Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Delphine Metarko, Pensacola, Fla.; and Polly J. Cobb, Tallahassee, Fla.; brother, Wilbur D. Searfoss, Waterbury, Conn.; sister, Louise Whitesell, Ormond Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., Dallas, with the Rev. Bonnie McGraw of the Lehman United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will be in Lehman Center Cemetery, Lehman Township.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Ackmann, Margaret

Margaret Ackmann~, 88, formerly of Nanticoke and Plymouth, died Monday at Birchwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Nanticoke, where she was residing.

She was born in Plymouth. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School and she also graduated as a registered nurse. She worked at Deborah Hospital, New Jersey, where she served as head nurse. She owned the Bet-Mar Nursing Home, Plymouth, and Snyder Rest Home, Nanticoke. She was the author of several novels. She was a member of the First Welsh Congregational Church, Plymouth.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Stires, with whom she operated the Bet-Mar Nursing Home; and daughter, Martha Snyder, with whom she operated the Snyder Rest Home.

Surviving is her granddaughter, Margaret E. Phillips, Dallas.

A private funeral service will be at the Hugh B. Hughes & Son, Inc., Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort. Interment will be in Memorial Shrine ~Burial Park, Carverton section of Franklin Township. Memorial donations be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Luzerne County, Plains Township.

Colarusso, Lucy

Lucy Colarusso, of Montgomery Avenue, West Pittston, formerly of Yatesville, died Tuesday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Angelo and Virginia Muto. She attended the Yatesville schools. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, West Pittston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony; grandson, Anthony, III; and brother, Brissie Muto.

Surviving are her son, Anthony, Carverton section of Kingston Township; daughter, Lucille Bowers, California; five grandchildren; sisters, Jennie Naples, Lena Frushon and Mildred Maganaro, all of Delaware; and brother, Albert Muto, Delaware.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Adonizio Funeral Home Inc., 251 William St., Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Entombment will be in the family crypt in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. The viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Durkin, James
Dec. 4, 2000
James Patrick Durkin, 89, formerly of Gedding Street, Avoca, died Monday at Morris View Nursing Home, ~Morris Township, N.J.Born April 25, 1911, in Avoca, he was a son of the late Martin and Ann (Ryan) Durkin. He worked for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Benson. He was a member of the Avoca American Legion and the Duryea Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Anthony (Duchaine), Monk

Monk Anthony (Duchaine), of St. Tikhon's Orthodox Monastery, South Canaan, died Tuesday.

Burial Services will be held 3 p.m. today at St. Tikhon's Tikhon's Monastery Church, South Canaan. Arrangements are by the Simon S. Russin Funeral Home.

DeGutis, Irene

Irene J. (Zaleta) DeGutis, 86, of North Washington Street, Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday at Birchwood Nursing Center, Nanticoke.

Born May 4, 1914, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Katherine (Bis) Zaleta. She was a 1933 graduate of James M. Coughlin Memorial High School. While at Coughlin High School, she designed the class ring for the school. She and her family owned and operated the former Dugan's Inn, Miners Mills. She worked for the A & P Store, Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, Miners Mills, its Altar and Rosary Society, the Quilting Clubs at St. Francis and SS. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic churches.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clement B.

Surviving are her son, Dennis B., Archbald; daughter, Jane J. Drake, Nanticoke; four grandchildren, one great-grandson; and brother, Anthony A. Zaleta, Nanticoke.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Thursday from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph A. Kearney will officiate. Interment will be in Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Cemetery, West Wyoming. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ezbitski, Leo
Dec. 5, 2000
Leo J. Ezbitski, 77, of Plains Township, died Tuesday at Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Plains Township, he was a son of the late Kayton and Angela (Jacewicz) Ezbitski. He was a 1942 graduate of Plains Memorial High School. He was the former owner of the Market Street Diner, Kingston, head chef at Regency Catering and Convention Hall, Pittston, and also worked at the Hart Restaurant, Wilkes-Barre. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II, serving as a corporal in the defense of the Tinian and Mariana Islands in the South Pacific. He was a member and commander of the Wilkes-Barre American Legion Post 132 and member of SS. Peter & Paul Church, Plains Township.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter; and sisters, Nellie Wysocki; and Sophie Washko.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, the former Irene Walkowiak; sons, Leon, at home; and Thomas Schroth, Sugar Notch; daughters, Deborah Neumann, Larchmont, N.Y.; and Donna Barbera, West Pittston; three grandchildren; and brothers, William, Massachusetts; and Joseph, Hollywood, Fla.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at SS. Peter & Paul's Church. Entombment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Memorial donations may be made to SS. Peter & Paul's Church, c/o 13 Hudson Road, Plains Township.

Good, Harriet

Harriet L. Good, 87, of West Pettebone Street, Forty Fort, died Monday at her home.

Born in West Pittston, she was a daughter of the late David and Elizabeth (Williams) Davies. She attended West Pittston High School. She was a member of Forty Fort United Methodist Church, Nesbitt Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; daughters, Dorothy Moss and Patricia Wallace; brothers, Theophilus, D. James, Griffith and John Davies; and sister, Elizabeth Powell.

Surviving are her daughters, Alice Bogardo, Medford, N.J.; Eleanor Markowski, Wilkes-Barre; and Mary Ellen Good, New Castle, Del.; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Miriam Smith, Levittown, N.Y.; and Betty Thomas, Orlando, Fla.; and brother, Edwin Davies, West Pittston.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Hugh B. Hughes & Son, Inc., Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with the Rev. Donald A. Roberts Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Forty Fort Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Herron, Mary

Mary Celia Herron, 90, a resident of Taylor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, West Hospital Street, Taylor, formerly of Apollo Drive, Old Forge, died Monday at the center.

Born March 15, 1910, in Moosic, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Celia (Watson) Davis. She attended Old Forge schools. She was a member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Roman Catholic Church, Old Forge, member and secretary of its Charismatic Prayer Group, and member of the Catholic Charismatic Movement and the Passionist Order of Clarks Summit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey.

Surviving are her sons, Harvey, Palm Coast, Fla.; William, Middletown, Del.; and Robert, Old Forge; daughters, Frances Ames, Cocoa, Fla.; Shirley Nelson and Mary Ogonosky, both of Moosic; and Helen Werner, Newark, Del.; 29 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Lawrence O'Toole Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Old Forge. The Rev. Dr. Michael J. Kirwin will officiate. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Hudzina, Ann

Ann D. Hudzina, of Taylor, died Tuesday at Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center.

Born Jan. 20, 1916, in Taylor, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Ann (Slinski) Hudzina. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Taylor, and its Altar and Rosary Society.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Frank, Michael, Joseph and Steve; and sisters, Margaret and Irene.

Surviving are her sister, Mary M., Taylor; brothers, Edward R., Taylor; and Eugene E., Scranton; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 408 N. Main St., Taylor. The Rev. Philip A. Altavilla will officiate. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Taylor. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Kelly, Thomas

Thomas P. Kelly, 71, of King George Road, Georgetown, S.C., died Monday at home.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late James and Ellen (Gilligan) Kelly. He was a graduate of Coughlin High School. He worked at the former International Color Printing Co. and operated a country store in Rhode Island. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Georgetown.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Ellen Bloomer and Agnes Lyons; and brothers, James and Michael.

Surviving are his wife, Terry; son, Lt. Paul Kelly, United States Marine Corps, Camp Lejeune, S.C.; sister, Ann Guzzo, Indian Lake; Elizabeth Fasulka, Wilkes-Barre; and Sister M. Ellen Kelly, RSM, Scranton; and brother, John J., Wilkes-Barre.

Funeral services were held in South Carolina.

Kluck Jr., Edward

Edward A. Kluck Jr., 46, of Quincy Street, of West Hazleton, died Tuesday at the Weinberg House in care of Hospice St. John, Hazleton.

Born in Hazleton, he was a son of the Edward A., Sr., and Irene (Uchno) Kluck, with whom he resided. He was a 1972 graduate of West Hazleton High School. He worked at Summit Manufacturing in the Valmont Industrial Park, Hazleton, and was a machinist for the Foster Wheeler Corp., Mountaintop. He was a member of the Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, West Hazleton, and the Knights of Columbus, Drums, Butler Township.

Surviving are his daughter, Siobhan, Annandale, Va.; brother, Paul, Mountain Grove; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday from the Hilary J. Bonin Funeral Home, 99 W. Green St., West Hazleton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at the Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice St. John, 901 Stacie Drive, Hazleton.

Koonrad, Infant

Infant son of Thomas and Lee Ann (Maxwell) Koonrad, of South Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, died at birth Sunday at the Nesbitt Hospital, Kingston.

Private services were held at the convenience of the family. Interment was in St. Vincent's Cemetery, Larksville.

Lottie M. Koteck, formerly of Dupont, died Monday in Atlanta, Ga.

Born in Dupont, she was a daughter of the late John and Rose Szumski. She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont, and its Altar and Rosary Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; and stepsons, Frank, Edward and Willard.

Surviving are her daughter, Rosalie Kaplan, Atlanta; stepson, Henry, Annandale, Va.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Katherine Chennski, Warminster.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Thursday from the Stephen M. Lokuta Funeral Home, 200 Wyoming Ave., Dupont, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Dupont. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening. The Altar and Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 7 p.m. this evening.
