Earl K. Carter, 78, of RR 1, Box 1678, Laceyville, died Saturday at his home in West Auburn, after an illness.
Born May 26, 1922, in West Auburn, he was the son of the late Donald and Merle Baker Carter. He graduated from the Laceyville High School, class of 1940.
He retired from the Procter and Gamble Paper Products Plant, Mehoopany, where he worked for 22 years. He was formerly employed by Ingersol Rand, Athens; Bendix Corp., South Montrose; and Johns Mansville, in New Jersey.
He was a member of the Procter and Gamble Retirees Organization.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Janice Weaver; son, Kevin Carter; daughters, Annette Interment will be in died Nov. 29 at ManorCare Health Services, Kingston.Born June 1, 1910, in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late James R. Breckenridge and Ella A. Bulford Harvey. She was the step daughter of the late Olie L. Harvey.

Joseph Junior Costello, 70, of Dupont, died Friday at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.Born in Dupont, he was a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Just) Costello. He was a graduate of Dupont High School and a life resident of Dupont. He was a general foreman for Trane Co., Dunmore, retiring in 1985. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Holy Mother of Sorrows Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Amvets, all of Dupont; Dupont Italian Club; and the Masons, where he was a master.
Fadden, Helen

Helen M. Fadden, 92, a guest of the Holiday Manor, Franklin and Mulberry Streets, Scranton, and formerly of Prospect Avenue, South Scranton, died Saturday at the manor.
Born Dec. 2, 1908, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Devine Sipple. She was a graduate of Scranton public schools.
She was a former member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, South Scranton, and the Friendly Senior Citizens Club. She settled at Holiday Manor five and a half years ago.
Before retiring, she was employed in the garment industry. She last worked for Linden Dress, Scranton.
She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph; brothers, Maurice and Charles; and one grandson.
Surviving are her sons, John Fadden, Moosic; Paul Fadden, Fort Meyers, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial mass will be held Thursday in Holy Rosary R.C. Church, Stephenson Street, Duryea, with the Rev. Charles W. Rokosz officiating. Cremation took place in Maple Hill Crematory, Wilkes-Barre. Arrangements are by the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main St., Old Forge.

Frances A. Good, 94, of Orchard Street, Glen Lyon, died Wednesday at the Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Dec. 4, 1906, in Glen Lyon, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Dvornitsky. She attended the Newport Township public schools.
She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Glen Lyon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her brother and sisters.
Surviving are her daughters, Genevieve Roke, with whom she resided; Catherine Tronsue, Glen Lyon; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, with the Rev. Carl Prushinski, of St. Michael's Church officiating. Interment was in the parish Cemetery, Newport Township. Arrangements were by the Stanley S. Stegura Funeral Home, Inc., Nanticoke.

Emma C. Haduck, 81, of Cheyenne, Wyo., died Thursday in Denver.
Born April 29, 1919, in Morrill, Neb., she was raised and attended schools in Torrington, Wyo.
She marriage John M. Haduck, a former resident of Avoca, in 1943.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, of Cheyenne, are a son, Phil, Parker, Colo.; brother, Charles, and sister, Regina, both of Torrington, Wyo.; sister, Freda, Sacramento, Calif.; and one grandson.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday in Cheyenne. Arrangements are by the Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of Chimes, Cheyenne.

Anna Holodnak, 86, of California, died Wednesday in Los Angeles.
Born in Luzerne, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Mary Gutauskas Zekas.
She resided in California since 1955 and was a former resident of Forty Fort. She was a former member of St. Ann's R.C. Church, Luzerne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; brothers, Peter, Joe, Tony and Leo; sisters, Mary Holodnak and Nellie Casey.
Surviving are his daughter, Betty Petrasek, Los Angeles; son, William, Agoura, Calif.; brothers, Charles and Clem, both of Dallas; Victor, Houston, Texas; and sister, Matilda, Houston.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Francis A. Bednarski Funeral Home, 340 Main St., Dupont.
Johnson, Henry

Henry Edward Johnson, 65, of Terrytown, died Saturday.
Born Dec. 3, 1935, in Terrytown, he was the son of the late Carl and Mildred Johnson Johnson. He attended the Wyalusing Valley High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1955. He worked at GTE Sylvania Corp., Towanda, for more than 25 years, retiring in 1992. He marriage the former Grace Gowin in 1956.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Carol Jean Johnson, Hazel Johnson and Donna Kirk.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, at home, are sons, Kevin, Keith, Terry and Brad, all of Wyalusing; Grayl, New Albany; Scott, Overton; daughters, Lisa Krukowski, Meshoppen; Tina Gardner, Wyalusing; Julie Thomas, Forksville; brothers, William, Malvern; Ralph, Terrytown; sisters, Marjorie Darnell, Honeybrook; Augusta Randall, Ulster; Sharon Neal, Niles, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cornelius L. Kush, 83, of Garfield Street, Nanticoke, died Thursday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Sept. 21, 1917, in Glen Lyon, he was the son of the late Joseph and Agnes Dipco. He was a graduate of Newport Township High School, class of 1935.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Nanticoke, and its Holy Name Society; United Mine Workers of America; Knights of Columbus Council 913, Nanticoke; Bishop Hafey Assembly 4th Degree Knight and honorable life member; and the Honey Pot Active Volunteer Fire Department.
He was employed by Glen Alden Coal Co. at the Bliss Colliery as a breakman; Ray Heddons Construction Co.; was self-employed as a carpenter; and retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot in 1984 after six years of employment.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph, Leonard and Henry Kush; sisters, Clementine Lewandowski, Marcella Kush and Florence Sauers; and two nephews.
Surviving are his wife, the former Regina Buczewski; son, Raymond, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; daughters, Rosemary Welch, Crofton, Md.; Sandra Shipkoski, Rosewell Park, Ga.; Jeanne Kosch, Crofton; sister, Marion Hvozda, Hanover section of Hanover Township; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday from the Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., 51-53 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, with the Rev. David Karns, his cousin, officiating. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Nanticoke. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. The Rosary will be recited jointly at 7:30 p.m. by the Holy Name Society and the Christian Women of St. Joseph's Church. Ida L. Lello, 84, of East Northampton Street, Wilkes-Barre, and formerly of Linden Street, West Pittston, died Wednesday at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Ida was born on Jan. 7, 1916, in Pittston. She was the daughter of the late Severino and Giovannina Novelli (Household) Casavecchia.
Ida was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Pittston. She was a graduate of Pittston High School, class of 1933, and a graduate of Scranton Hoyt School of Nursing, where she received her L.P.N. degree.
Ida was a lifetime member of the Fox Hill Country Club. She was the last surviving member of the Casavecchia family.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Peter J. Lello Sr., who died March 10, 1989; brothers, Albert, Julio, Ernest and Frede Casavecchia; and sisters, Amelia Augustine and Mary Merli.
Surviving are her children, Peter J. Lello Jr., Pittston Township; Diane L. Lello, Philadelphia; Denis A. Lello, Swoyersville; Michael A. Lello, Palm City, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Bernadine (Lussi) Lello, Swoyersville; two grandchildren, Mia D. Lello and Peter A. Lello; nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Ed (Norma) Schmidt, Laflin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, William Street, Pittston. Geraldine M. (Ferretti) Novak, 58, of Monument Avenue, Wyoming, died Friday at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Plains Township.
Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of Aldo and Margaret Chevanek Ferretti, of Exeter. She attended Wyoming High School.
She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, West Wyoming, and was employed by Sears Logistics Services, Hanover Industrial Park, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Rita Meranda.
Surviving are her husband, John; daughter, Vanessa Miles, Dunmore; sons, David Franko, Sioux City, Iowa; Jeffrey Franko, Tunkhannock; brother, Joseph Ferretti, Exeter; and six grandchildren.

Victoria M. Rizzo, 85, formerly of La Grange Street, Pittston, died Friday at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas.
Born March 18, 1915, in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine Sciandra Schifano.
She was a life resident of Pittston and a member of St. Rocco's R.C. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Rizzo; son, Angelo Rizzo; brothers, Joseph, Angelo and John Schifano; and sister, Carmella Castellino.
Surviving are her daughter, Grace Missett, Wyoming; sisters, Carrie Ciali, Pittston; Rose Alfano, Ohio; brother, Sam Schifano, Pittston; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Dominic W. Rossi, 88, of North Main Street, Old Forge, died Saturday in Mercy Hospital, Scranton.
Born Jan. 29, 1912, in Old Forge, he was the son of the late Nazzareno and Lucia Stella Rossi. He was educated in the Old Forge public school system and was a life resident of the borough.
Before retiring, he was the manager of the A & P Supermarket, Old Forge; he worked for the company for 45 years. He was a former social member of the American Legion Post 513 and was a parishioner of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, both of Old Forge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Gertrude Gnazzo; brother, Ernest; and sister, Vera Taroli.
Surviving are his sons, Donald, Old Forge; Richard, Moosic; daughters, Bernice Rossi, Old Forge; Dorothy Ann Carmadella, San Dimas, Calif.; brother, Joseph, Dallas, Texas; sister, Augusta DeMartino, Old Forge; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Joseph M. Smee, of Mills Street, Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, died Friday at his residence.
Born Sept. 26, 1952, in Edwardsville, he was the son of the late George and Genevieve Pacovsky Smee.
He resided in the area most of his life and was a 1970 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Kingston. He received his bachelor of arts degree in sociology from King's College.
He served with the U.S. Air Force and was a member of St. Dominic's Church, Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving are his son, Michael Jacob Smee, Harveys Lake; daughters, Elizabeth Anne Smee, U.S. Coast Guard, Mobile, Ala.; Mary Genevieve Smee, Harveys Lake; brothers, George Smee, Lansdale; John Smee, Edwardsville; sister, Jean Bartlow, Edwardsville; nieces and nephews.

Irene Vollrath, 78, of White Haven, died Friday at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and James Noyalis, in Wilkes-Barre.
Born in White Haven, she lived most of her life in the area. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Sterner) Haas. She belonged to the church she loved, St. Paul's Lutheran of White Haven, where she was an active member, belonging to the W.E.L.C.A. and church choir. She was chaplain of the White Haven Senior Citizens and also chaplain of the Eastern Star Lehigh Chapter. She was very active in the Widows Support Group.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, in 1992.
Surviving are her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Paul and Pamela Wheeler, Meadville; James and Vickie Noyalis, Wilkes-Barre; James and Lisa Kehley, Zion Grove; also her devoted grandchildren, Christine Barnes, David Wheeler, Elizabeth Wheeler, Eric Noyalis, Jamie Lyn Noyalis and Tori Kehley; and her great-granddaughters, Emily and Katherine Barnes. Mrs. Vollrath is also survived by two wonderful sisters, Harriet Berish, Plymouth; and Joyce Winheld, Tuckerton, N.J.
