Carol A. Boscarello, of Susquehanna Apartments, Tunkhannock, died Sunday at the Community Medical Center, Scranton.
Born Nov. 23, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Lucille (Meyer) Holecek.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Arlene Jeffers.
Surviving are her son, Michael, Brook Park, Ohio; daughter, Linda M. Bamberger, Tunkhannock; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with the Rev. Keith Blom officiating. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of service Wednesday.

Victoria (Lesinski) Dowley, formerly of Burke Street, Plains Township, passed away Saturday evening at the East Mountain Manor, Plains Township, where she was a guest for the past five years.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Swiedoski) Lesinski. She attended Plains Township schools. Prior to her retirement in 1985, she was a manager for numerous dress factories in the area. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Church, Plains Township, and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Dowley; also brothers, Alex, Charles, Roger and Stanley Lesinski; and a sister, Bertha Lesinski.
Surviving are her son, Louis, and daughter-in-law, Jean; sister, Tessie Symes, Niagara Falls, N.Y.; granddaughters, Jean Gober and Nina Feal; two great-grandsons, Adam and Matthew Gober; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Michael J. Mikelski Funeral Home, 293 S. River St., Plains Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in SS. Peter & Paul Church, Plains Township. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Plains Township. Friends may call Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Sylvia G. Owens, 80, of Wright Township, Mountaintop, formerly of Luzerne, Kingston and Madison Street, North Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday at Smith Health Care Center, Mountaintop, where she resided for the past five years.
Born in Tonypandy, Wales, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Hitchings) Hughes. She attended Kingston High School. She worked for Duplan Mills, Kingston, Hess, Goldsmith Co., Wilkes-Barre, RCA, Mountaintop, and was an inspector/tester with GE, Mountaintop.
She was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Mitchell Wills and Anthony Leonard; brother, Charles Hughes; and sisters, Bessie Hughes, Sarah Wallace and Fryswyth Terelmes.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Vincent Monroe; daughters, Sylvia Leonard, Exeter; and Karen Dormio, Dallas; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Eunice Williams, Fairfield, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. There will be no calling hours. Lilyanne B. Quinn, of Park Towers, Nanticoke, died Saturday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Bayonne, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Peter J. and Angeline (Gull) Babskie. She was a graduate of Wilkes University, Bucknell University and Duke University. She was a medical technician. She was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. She was a member of St. Francis Church and Friends of the Mill Memorial Library, both of Nanticoke, and life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion, Glen Lyon section of Newport Township.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emory S.; and brother, Dr. Robert Babskie.
Surviving are her daughters, attorney Paula Quinn, Nanticoke; and Dr. Wilhelmina A. Hopper, Richland, Wash.

John G. Savakinus, 40, of Plains Township, died Saturday in Dallas.
Born Jan. 16, 1960, in Newark, N.J., he was the son of Nancy (Perrins) Savakinus, Wilkes-Barre, and the late John Savakinus. He was a graduate of GAR High School, Wilkes-Barre. He was a chef for Corporate Catering, Nanticoke. He was a member of Back Mountain Harvest Assembly Church, Shavertown section of Kingston Township, and was a Boy Scout leader of Pack 100, Plains Township.
Surviving are his wife, Teri (Eckrote) Savakinus; children, Justin and Joshua, both at home; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Graziano Funeral Home, Inc., 700 Pittston Blvd., Pittston Township, with the Rev. Dan Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. Rocco's Cemetery, Pittston Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Warren Lawrence Shirey, of Dallas, died Nov. 9 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born July 1, 1909, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Harry Warren, M.D., and Mabel (Mayhew) Shirey. He was a graduate of Scranton Central High School, and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton, majoring in math, English, social studies and education. He also received a master's degree in secondary education from the University of Delaware. He was a surveyor, and after special training, a fire boss, for Hudson Coal Co., company inspector and mine foreman for Marbine Colliery, North Scranton, Loree Number Three shaft, Edwardsville, and Boston Number Two shaft, Larksville. He was appointed inspector of Pennsylvania Anthracite Mines by Gov. Lawrence. He taught mining at Penn State Extension, math at Dover Air Force Base High School and math and slide rule instruction for the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of the Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, Dallas, Delaware Education Association of the National Educational Association, Kingston Lodge No. 395, F & AM of Pennsylvania, Shekinah Royal Arch, Chapter No. 182 and the Irem Temple, both of Wilkes-Barre.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Davies) Shirey; and sister, Mabel Peck.
Surviving is his foster daughter, Rose Saunders, Dallas.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, Dallas, with the Rev. Robert Nagy officiating. Friends may call from 12:15 to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Prince of Peace Episcopal Church. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Fannie R. Silvi, of Plains Township, formerly of South Norwalk, Conn., died Saturday at the Balanced Care at Kingston.
Born Jan. 1, 1912, in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Oliver and Rose (Dominick) Silvi. She attended schools in the Plains Township public school system. She worked for Edwards and Edwards Inc., South Norwalk. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Laflin.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Nello Silvi, Thomas and Italo Bordick; and sisters, Anita Nocotra, Olive Schreiber, Zelinda Biscontini and Anna Brezak.
Surviving are her sister, Dora Yevich, Keystone section of Plains Township; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and former caretaker, Bea Buchta, Norwalk, Conn.
Private funeral services will be held from the Simon S. Russin Funeral Home Inc., 136 Maffett St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. The Rev. James Paisley will officiate. Interment will be in Italian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming. There will be no calling hours. Henrietta D. Whitaker, 68, of Main Street, Moosic, formerly of Dupont, died Sunday at Mercy Hospital, Scranton.
Born Oct. 28, 1932, in Dupont, she was a daughter of the late Boleslaw and Lucy (Borkowski) Massakowski. She was a graduate of Avoca High School and 1953 graduate of the Pittston Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse at the Pittston Hospital and at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald, and the Polish Women's Alliance of America.
She was preceded in death by her brother, John Massakowski; and sisters, Mary Montaro, Lottie Makar, Anna Gawrys, Cassie Clarke and Frances Capowski.
Surviving are her daughter, Joan M. Wincovitch, Waverly; sons, Al, Eynon; and David J., Allentown; five grandchildren; brother, Edward Massakowski, Avoca; sister, Irene Zuba, Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late William and Jennie (McMahon) Riordan. She attended school in Bronx, N.Y. She was an inspector at Leslie Fay, Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of St. Casimir's Church, Lyndwood section of Hanover Township; Senior Citizens, Kingston; American Legion Auxiliary, Plains Township; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Anthracite Post 283 and Club 257, both of Kingston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert E.
Surviving are her son, Richard, Austin; daughter, Alberta Pokrifka, Howell, N.J.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Rev. Peter A. Carr, OFM, 89, formerly of Sugar Notch and St. Anthony's Friary, St. Petersburg, Fla., died Nov. 26 at Holy Name Friary, Ringwood, N.J.
Born Feb. 14, 1911, in Sugar Notch, he was a son of the late Martin, Sr., and Margaret (Durkin) Carr. He was a Franciscan priest for 61 years. During his priestly vocations, he taught at St. Bonaventure University, Allegany, N.Y., was pastor at St. Francis Friary, Triangle, Va., and served on the Mission Board for Friar Magazine. He served at St. Joseph's Friary and St. Patrick's Church, both of Wilkes-Barre, and St. Ann's Church, Freeland. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a chaplain and attaining the rank of captain.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary; and brothers, Joseph, Martin, Jr. and Henry.
Surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Anthony's Friary, Butler, N.J. Interment will be in God's Acre Cemetery, Ringwood. Arrangements were by the D'Agostino Funeral Home, Ringwood.

Florence "Flossie" DiMaria, of Beech Street, Swoyersville, died Monday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Swoyersville, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Genevieve (Augello) Piazza. She was a 1940 graduate of Swoyersville High School. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Exeter, and the West Side Travelers.
She was preceded in death by her son, John; and brothers, John and James Piazza.
Surviving are her husband, Frank; daughter, Jacqueline Fascina, West Pittston; son, David, Forty Fort; four grandchildren; sister, Josephine Wolinsky, Swoyersville; brother, Frank "Burnsie" Piazza, Swoyersville; and several nieces and nephews.

Gerald M. Duffy, 70, of Gateway Drive, Edwardsville, formerly of Hazleton and the Wilkes-Barre area, died Sunday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born May 26, 1930, in Hazleton, he was a son of the late Peter J. Duffy and Iona (Christian) Duffy Smith. He was a graduate of West Hazleton High School. He worked for Bell Telephone Co. in the Hazleton, Williamsport and Wilkes-Barre areas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Philip L. Smith.
Surviving are his son, Gerald D., Manalapan, N.J.; two grandchildren; sisters, Elaine Benko, Pine Grove; and Jane Ann Salnicky, West Hazleton; brother~, attorney Eugene F., West Hazleton; several nieces and nephews; and caregiver, June Compton, Wilkes-Barre.

Born April 23, 1916, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Catherine (Drexinger) Klein. She graduated from St. Ann's Academy in 1934. She worked in the Tomberg Electric Co. office and volunteered for the Red Cross. She was a member of St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her son, James; and sister, Louise (Klein) Roos.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Raymond; daughter, Joyce Edmonds, Birmingham; sister, Catherine (Klein) Young; and several nieces and cousins.

Born in Swoyersville, he was a son of the late Andrew and Margaret (Scharinsi) Gowisnok. He attended Swoyersville schools. He was a janitor in the Walben Division of Kanarr Corp., Wilkes-Barre, and for Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European/African theater. He was a member of Holy Name-St. Mary's Church, Swoyersville.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Adam and Peter Goldee; and sisters, Katherine Walton, Mary An~n Soltis~, Frances Gowisnok, Helen Kalakay, Anne Surma and Agnes Gowisnok.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, the former Steffie Wrobleski; son, Eugene, Swoyersville; three grandchildren; sisters, Josephine Koszack, Tucson, Ariz.; and Pauline Patlosky, Garfield, N.J.; and nieces and nephews.

He was born Dec. 13, 1924, in the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre. He was a drafting checker for Burrough's Co. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John A.
Surviving are his wife, Helen J.; daughter, Mary Ellen Rettig, Utica, Mich.; two grandsons; and sister, Elizabeth McNamara, Pittston.

Born Dec. 24, 1955, in Wareham, Mass., she was a daughter of Ethel Dickson, Bushnell, Fla. She attended the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church, Harveys Lake, and was a member of the Lake-Lehman Band Association.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband of 15 years, Ernstcq; son, Gerald Pendear, Plymouth; daughter, Kyla, at home; two grandchildren; brothers, Robert Carver, Bushnell; and William Emmons, Bangor, Maine; and sisters, Dorothy Bassett, Harveys Lake; Louann Emmons, Austin; Kerensa Carey, Hyannis, Mass.; and Maryann Bassett, Edwardsville.
