ol. William J. Jenkins, U.S. Air Force, retired, 79, of Odessa, Fla., died Friday in Tampa, Fla.
Born April 15, 1921, in Kingston, he was a son of the late Thomas R. and Ruth (Llewellyn) Jenkins. He had a high school diploma and two years of college. He was a retired colonel in the U.S. Air Force, after serving 35 years during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a 32 degree mason and was a member of the Egypt Temple, Tampa.
Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by his daughter, Gwynne A. Jenkins.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine B. (Weatherall) Jenkins; daughter, Sharon Phillips; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard and Dan; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at 1 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by MacDill Air Force Honor Guard. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. this evening by Memorial Lodge No. 23 at the funeral home. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening at the Blount, Curry & Roel W. Mary M. Kozielski, of Indian Springs Road, Lake Carey section of Tunkhannock, died Monday at Tyler Memorial Hospital, Tunkhannock.
Born Feb. 27, 1910, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Antonia (Hydock) Wisnewski. She was a floor lady for Woodbury Manufacturing, Wilkes-Barre, and for the Rowker Dress Co., Tunkhannock. She was a member of the Church of the Nativity BVM, member and president of its Altar and Rosary Society, and member of St. Gabriel's Retreat League.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; brothers, Joseph, John and Stanley Wisnewski; and sisters, Martha Kotinsley, Sophie Bedsun and Betty Kijek.
Surviving are her son, Frank, Wilkes-Barre; daughter, Mary Ann Brown, Tunkhannock, with whom she resided; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Sheldon- Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity BVM. Interment will be in Pieta Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Raymond Elwood Naugle, of the Wilkes-Barre and Pittston area, died Sunday at home.
Born in Coxton, he was the son of the late Raymond E. and Verna J. (Lackenby) Naugle. He attended Duryea High School. He was a driver for Pittston Taxi Cab.
Surviving are his wife, Florence Mary, Wilkes-Barre; daughters, Denise, Wilkes-Barre; Debbie, Ashley; Diane, Indiana, Pa.; and Rae Ellen, Hanover Township; son, Raymond Elwood, Pittston; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Verna Chapman, Exeter.
The funeral will be held at the family's convenience from the Adonizio Funeral Home Inc., 251 William St., Pittston.

Paul G. Nester Sr., 61, of Glory Road, Tamaqua, died Sunday at his residence.
Born in Tamaqua, he was the son of the late Paul C. and Marie (Curran) Nester. He was a 1957 graduate of Marian High School. He worked for the James O. Brown Co. Inc., Pittston, and founded Paul G. Nester & Son Inc., Tamaqua. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1959 to 1964. He was a member of St. Jerome's Catholic Church, Tamaqua; Hometown Fire Co.; Father Henry C. Baker Council, Knights of Columbus, Tamaqua; Schuylkill General Assembly, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus; Private Label Manufacturers Association; National Food Brokers Association; National Frozen Food Association; International Deli & Dairy Association; and board of directors of the Tamaqua Industrial Development Enterprise. He helped locate Trans Western in the Tide Park, Hometown.
He was preceded in death by his son, Paul G., Jr.; and sister, Barbara.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Ruth M. (Maurer) Nester; and three grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, Tamaqua. Interment will be in Sky View Memorial Park, Tamaqua. Pearson, Gilbert Edward

Gilbert Edward Pearson, 87, of Pukalani, Hawaii, formerly of Forty Fort, died Nov. 23, 2000, in Kahului, Maui.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Arvid and Amanda (Forsberg) Pearson. He attended Coughlin High School and was a member of the first graduating class of Meyers High School. He attended the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania. He was a U.S. Army veteran, earning bronze stars for action in the Philippines. Mr. Pearson was the manager of Industrial Loan Corporation, of Wilkes-Barre, for 24 years before his retirement.
He was a member of the Swedish Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Kingston, and Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Kahului, Maui. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 265, Kingston, Irem Temple and Knights Templar.
Following his retirement, he moved to Maui where he spent 11 of the happiest years of his life managing Punahoa Beach Apartments in Kihei with his wife, the late Esther (Anderson) Pearson. He retired to Pukalani in 1986.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his sister, Eleanor Pearson Mariott.
He is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Ann (David) Marciel, of Pukalani, Maui; Lois Ellen (Geoffrey) Ruth, of West Chester, Pa.; and Andrea Pearson (James, III) Harris, of Dallas, Pa.; his brother, Albert Pearson, of Greensburg, Pa.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Sister M. Matthew Smith, of Mercy Center, Dallas, a member of the Dallas Regional Community of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, died Tuesday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
The former Rosella Barbara Smith was born Sept. 19, 1913, in New Germany, a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Long) Smith. She was a graduate of Mount Aloysius Academy, Cresson, and received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from College Misericordia. She entered the Sisters of Mercy at Mount Aloysius on Sept. 8, 1929, and professed her vows on March 12, 1932. She taught in the elementary schools of the Altoona-Johnstown and Pittsburgh dioceses. She was a parish visitor and pastoral minister at St. Mark Parish, Altoona. She joined the Prayer Ministry at McAuley Hall, Cresson, in 1991.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Vincent, Benno, Thomas, Clement and the Rev. Father Julian Smith; and sister, Mary Chirdon.
Surviving are her sisters, Sister Mary Basil Smith, Dallas; Helen Smith; and Elizabeth Ryan, both of Summerhill; and brothers, the Rev. Father Ermin Smith, Latrobe; and Cletus Smith, Summerhill.
Transferal to Mercy Center will be at 1 p.m. Thursday with a Wake Service at 7 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Chapel. The viewing will be from 1 to 8 p.m. at the chapel. Transferal to McAuley Hall, Cresson, will be on Friday with a viewing from 3 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, Mount Aloysius College. Marion "Vickie" Haas, 80, of Lawrence Street, Luzerne, and residing briefly at Summit Health Care Center, Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Rose (Stork) Haas. She was a 1939 graduate of Meyers High School. She owned and operated Variety Dry Goods Store, South Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of St. Aloysius Church, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald, Lawrence and Harold; and sister, Elsie Charters.
Surviving are her sister, Rose Yekel, Hanover Township; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Popovich, of Auburn Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late John and Barbara (Pasterchak) Popovich. She attended city schools. She worked in the garment industry. She was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre, and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
She was preceded in death by her brother, George Popovich; and sister, Helen Bogusky.
Surviving are her sisters, Anna Popovich, Wilkes-Barre; and Irene Saukulyak, Wilkes-Barre Township.
The funeral will be 8:30 a.m. Saturday from the Mary A. Harostock Funeral Home, 480 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with Divine Liturgy at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church. Ellen L. "Dana" Sattof, 45, of Trethaway Street, Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, formerly of Kingston, died Tuesday at her home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of Lois (Thomas) Dana, Forty Fort, and the late Charles W. Dana. She attended Coughlin High School. She was the transportation coordinator for Luzerne County Head Start, Wilkes-Barre, at Posten Taxi. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her fiancee, David Yedloski, Parsons; daughters, Beth Ann Sattof and Nicole Stucker, both of Wilkes-Barre; sons, Jamie Dana, Forty Fort; and Michael Dana, U.S. Air Force, Lakenheath Air Force Base, England; three grandchildren; sisters, Jane Bauer, Wilkes-Barre; Barbara Dana, Forty Fort; and Lisa Edwards, Hanover Green section of Hanover Township; nieces and nephews.

Born in the Port Griffith section of Jenkins Township, she was a daughter of the late John and Lucille (Chrobak) Koziel. She attended Jenkins Township schools. She worked for General Cigar Co., formerly of Kingston, and Consolidated Cigar Co., formerly of West Pittston. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Duryea.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; son, Alfred; and brothers, John, Walter and Bernard Koziel.
Surviving are her sons, Jerome, Cape May, N.J.; and Ronald, at home; three granddaughters; sisters, Josephine Zimniski, Harveys Lake; Eleanor Robertson, Trucksville section of Kingston Township; and Helen Sarago, Pittston; nieces and nephews.

Gloria M. Venetz, of Pittston, died Tuesday at the Heritage House, Hospice VNA, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Wyoming, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Florence (Huddleson) Venetz. She was a supervisor for Gruen Marketing, Exeter, and worked at Owens-Illinois and at Pomeroy's. She was a member of the Salvation Army, West Pittston. She was a Girl Scout leader in Wyoming.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Noah Charles Bulford; sister, June Venetz; and brothers, Robert and Charles.
Surviving are her daughters, Sonya Metzger and Nanci Shinko, both of Exeter; and Gail Davenport, West Pittston; son, Charles Bulford, Philadelphia; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald, West Pittston; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the Frank A. Frieda (Rosenn) Kaufer, 100, of Homewood Road, Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Kingston and Florida, died Tuesday at her home.
Born in Austria, Hungary, she was the daughter of the late Mordechai and Ida Rosenn. She was a life member of Ohav Zedek, member of its sisterhood, life member of the Jewish Community Center and Hadassah, and member of numerous other Hebrew organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Simon; and daughter, Sylvia Glickman.
Surviving are her sons, Maxwell, Los Angeles; Irvin, Kingston; and Alvin, Malibu, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday from the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, with Rabbi Meir Rosenberg officiating. Interment will be in Ohav Zedek Cemetery. Casimira Dobbie, 84, of Orchard Street, Exeter, died Wednesday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born Aug. 9, 1916, in Wyoming, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine (Borofski) Gadomski. She attended Wyoming High School. She worked in several silk mills. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Exeter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; brothers, Anthony, Edward and Daniel Gadomski; and sisters, Frances and Stella Gadomski.
Surviving are her brothers, John Gadomski, Wyoming; and George Mazur, Harding; sister, Dolores Coar, Cinnaminson, N.J.; and nieces and nephews.

Aileen DeGiacomo, 68, of North Loveland Avenue, Kingston, died Tuesday at her home.
Born Nov. 22, 1932, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Andrew A. and Dorothy (Schall) DeGiacomo. She was a 1950 graduate of Kingston High School. She was a bookkeeper for the Times Leader in the accounting office. She was a member of Dorranceton United Methodist Church, Kingston, and a volunteer for organizations including Meals on Wheels, Kingston, and St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Lee Williams.
Surviving are her sons, Brad "Skip" Williams Jr., Chatsworth, Calif.; Todd Williams, Lattabra, Calif.; Drew Williams, Costa Mesa, Calif.; and David Williams, Kingston; seven grandchildren; sisters, Gloria Veater, Levittown; and Dorothy Chipman, Smithville, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
