Angelo C. Saia, 79, of East Mountain Manor, Wilkes-Barre, formerly of the Pittston area, died Tuesday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born Feb. 26, 1921, in Pittston, he was a son of the late Vincent and Concetta (Falcone) Saia. He attended Pittston city schools. He was a civil service fireman in Hackensack, N.J. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a medic in the 75th Armored Battalion, with the rank of private. He was part of the allied troops' invasion of Normandy. He was a life member and commander of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 102, where he was an adjutant for the DAV and founder of the Nino Montante Chapter in Pittston. He was a life member of AMVETS; Military Order of the Purple Heart; and the American Legion; fourth degree Knight of Columbus, JFK Council, Pittston; member of the Order of the Moose, West Pittston Lodge; and Montedoro Society member, Pittston. He was a manager for the West Pittston teenage baseball league. He was vice chairman for the Democratic party in West Pittston.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty I. (Worth) Saia; brothers, Louis, Charles, Sam, Vincent and Joseph; and sisters, Anna Saia, Josephine Milazzo, Mary Fuschino and Angeline Zanta.
Surviving are his daughter, Ann Grace Beard, Cathedral City, Calif.; son, Michael, West Pittston; two grandsons; and sisters, Jennie Policare; and Rose Zionce, Pittston Township.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 700 Pittston Blvd., Pittston Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Pittston. Interment will be in St. Rocco's Cemetery, Pittston Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Josephine Joseph, 85, of Easton, formerly of Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem.
Born Jan. 27, 1915, in Portage, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and (Hedbeh) Nasser. She was a member of St. George's Maronite Church, Wilkes-Barre, and its Altar and Rosary Society; Young Republican Women's Club; and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Auxiliary; and was a "Pink Lady" volunteer at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David S.; three brothers; and three sisters, including Sadie Koury.
Surviving are her children, Harriet McGuiness, Easton; David S., Jr., Haverford; and Judy Hyzenski, Forty Fort; four granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. George's Maronite Church, 79 Loomis St., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Agnes Suda, of Nesbitt Street, Larksville, died Wednesday at her home.
Born in Larksville, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Yosh) Elko. She was a Larksville High School graduate. She worked for the F. & H. Manufacturing Co., Courtdale. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and St. Hedwig's Church, Kingston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; sisters, Ann Chituk and Margaret Guydosh; and brothers, Andrew and Joseph Elko.
Surviving are her son, Edward, at home; daughters, Mary Mangold, Larksville; and Christine Canfield, Columbia, S.C.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday from the Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerbey Ave., Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Hedwig's Church. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Lehman Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Stanley J. Lapinski, of Myers Court, Kingston, died Wednesday at his home.Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late Edward and Mary (Dziuba) Lapinski. He worked for the Duplan Silk Mill, the Blue Ribbon Cake Co., both of Kingston, and the Topps Chewing Gum Inc., Duryea. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Hedwig's Church, Kingston, and its Holy Name Society, and the American Legion Post in Plymouth.
Yeager, Paul

Paul A. Yeager, 84, of Fairfax County, Virginia, formerly of Kidder Street, Wilkes-Barre, and a nursing home resident for the past five years in Fairfax County, died Monday at Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, Va.
Born in Dickson City, he was a son of the late Paul and Mary (Yayer) Yeager. He attended Dickson City schools. He operated a farm in the Elk Mountain area and was a surveyor and mapper with the federal government. He was a heavy equipment operator and mechanic in anthracite mines in Lackawanna and Luzerne counties. He also worked for the Glen Alden Coal Co., Carbondale, and the Blue Coal Corp., Ashley. He was a member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Slovak Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod), Wilkes-Barre. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ann Clipps; son, Gary P. Yeage~r; grandson, Robbie Phillips; and several sisters.
Surviving are his daughters, Pauline Phillips, Denver; and Linda Lee Ashworth, Reston, Va., and Isle of Palms, S.C.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Ernie Yayer, Broomall; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday from the H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Paul Visoky, retired, officiating. Mary (Fleming) Smith, 92, of the Shavertown section of Kingston Township, formerly of Plainville, Conn., died Wednesday at Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas, where she was a resident since 1995.
Born in Somerville, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Edmund and Katherine (Kane) Fleming. She was a 1930 graduate of Boston University. She was a communicant of Our Lady Of Mercy Church, Plainville, and St. Therese's Church, Shavertown. She taught at Plainville High School from the 1930's through World War II and substituted at Wheeler Elementary, School, Plainville. She volunteered for the American Red Cross.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyal; brothers, Edmund and Joseph Fleming; and sisters, Catherine Lowney and Rita O'Rourke.
Surviving are her son, Russell E., Shavertown; daughter, Dorothy S. Wrona, Wallingford, Conn.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sister, Claire Dolan, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad St., Plainville, Conn. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville, Conn. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville. Frances M. Abromovage, 77, of Freemont Street, West Pittston, formerly of Exeter, died Thursday at home.
Born July 15, 1923, in Cornwall, England, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Annie Maria (Brey) May. She graduated from high school in England. She worked at Star Garment, Exeter. She served in the English Women's Royal Navy Service during World War II, from 1942 to 1945. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6518, both of Exeter, and the Wyoming Valley Branch of the British Women's Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel.
Surviving are her sons, Bernard, Fort Worth, Texas; Brian, Wyoming; and Barry, Stone Mountain, Ga.; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald May, Cornwall, England; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Kizis-Lokuta Funeral Home, 134 Church St., Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Elaine E. Beky, of Sixth Street, Wyoming, formerly of Swoyersville and Philadelphia, died Monday at the Hospice Community Care Unit at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of Victoria Beky, Swoyersville, and the late Daniel Beky Jr. She was a graduate of Swoyersville High School and was valedictorian of her graduating class at Pittston Hospital School of Nursing. She was a medical staff coordinator at John Heinz Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Wyoming.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, is her brother, Daniel, Exeter.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Thursday from the Joseph L. Wroblewski Funeral Home, 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, with the Rev. Walter Skiba officiating. Lowe J. Fennelly, 85, of Spring Hill, Fla., formerly of Bethlehem, died Monday at Hospice Care of the VNA Inpatient Unit, Heritage House, Wilkes- Barre.
Born Jan. 12, 1915, in Newtonville, Mass., he was a son of the late John and Sarah (Burch) Fennelly. He was a 1932 graduate of Dickinson High School, Jersey City, N.J., and a graduate of Bliss Electrical School, Tacoma Park, Md. He was a customer engineer for IBM Corp., Bethlehem. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, Spring Hill, Fla., and its Chancel Choir. He was an ordained elder in the Church of the Manger (UCC), Bethlehem, and president of its congregation.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John; sisters, Chessley Bonanno and Elizabeth Raymond.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Baird; daughter, Diane R. Gabriel, Laurys Station; son, Donald L., Naperville, Ill.; five grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Presbyterian Church, West Pittston. The Rev. James Thyren will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Born June 20, 1911, in Dupont, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Kolis) Kutyla. She was a member of St. Adalbert's Church, Glen Lyon, and its Altar and Rosary Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; and sister, Sophie Tibel.
Surviving are her daughter, Geraldine Zaber, Spotswood, N.J.; son, William, Seymour, Conn.; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild; sisters, Josephine Warunek and Stella Baritski, both of Dupont; and brother, Peter, Pittston.

Charlotte Gutheit, 80, of Dan Flood Apartments, Kingston, died Monday at her home.
Born in New York City, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Yetta (Gratastein) Nimelman. She a Club member of the Dan Flood Apartments and many civic and religious organizations.
She was preceded her in death by her husband, Isadore.
Surviving are her daughter, Yvette Coda, Mount Pocono; two grandchildren; sister, Norma Blattberg, Hollywood, Fla.; one niece and three nephews.
A Graveside funeral service and interment will be held Wednesday in New Montefiore Cemetery, Wellwood, N.Y. Funeral arrangements are by the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel Inc., 348 S. River St., Wilkes-Barre. Floyd A. Hoch, 90, of Montgomery Street, Nescopeck, died Sunday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Feb. 12, 1910, in Hobbie, he was a son of the late Clemens and Elmira (Moyer) Hoch. He and his late wife operated Hoch's Restaurant and Bar, Hobbie Corners. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Hobbie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Caroline Ryman; brothers, Claude, Eugene and Monroe.
Surviving are his son, George, Southgate, Mich.; daughter, Betty Hoch, at home; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

John W. Langdon, 79, of Pennsville Township, N.J., died Saturday at his home.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre. He was a welder for E.I. DuPont Co. Chambers Works and a police officer for the City of Salem. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant. He was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 1966, Salem. He was a certified drug and alcohol counselor.
Surviving are his wife, the former Lula Hill; daughter, Arlene Harris, Woodstown, N.J.; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brother, William, Wilkes-Barre; sister, Janet Wondolski, Wilkes-Barre; and half sister, Barbara Roloski.

Laura Elizabeth Reese, 77, of Locust Avenue, Baltimore, Md., died Dec. 12 at her home.
Born Dec. 18, 1922, in Mildred, she was a daughter of the late Noah and Inez (Pazzaglia) Panichi. She attended local schools. She was a founding member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Essex, Md., where she volunteered almost daily, was preparing a document on the church's history and was active with the Evangelical Lutheran Church Women's Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence O.; and son, Lawrence.
Surviving are her son, Lee T., Baltimore; sister, Ruth Sick, West Palm Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews and extended family at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Funeral services were held Dec. 16 at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Cherry Grove Cemetery, Nordmont. Local arrangements are by the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore.

Born in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Sarocky) Yurko. She attended Johnstown schools. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Community.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J.; brother, John Yurko; and sisters, Mary Karbowski and Helen Stankowski.
Surviving are her sons, George A., Dallas, Texas; and Thomas, Gray, Maine; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 a.m. today at Holy Cross Chapel, Lewiston, Maine. Interment will be in Dallas, Texas. Arrangements are by the Crosman Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Lisbon Falls, Maine.

Born June 20, 1915, in Strausstown, she was a daughter of the late Howard D. and Ida May (Anthony) Spatz. She attended Hamburg schools. She worked for the Savin Copy Co., White Plains.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and three sisters.
Surviving are her sisters, June Wenrich, Shavertown section of Kingston Township; Helen Bodnar, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.

Clarence T. "Butt" Sims, 66, of Plymouth Street, Edwardsville, died Friday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born March 6, 1934, in Larksville, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary (Crossin) Sims. He attended school in Larksville. He worked for Saba's, Larksville, and Wilkes College. He attended the Larksville Mountain Full Gospel Church.
Surviving are wife of 41 years, the former Wanda Andecover; stepmother, Minnie (Hughes) Eddy Sims, Larksville; stepbrothers, Junior Eddy, Beaumont; Arthur Eddy, Nanticoke; and Joseph Eddy, Larksville; and stepsister, Emma Hazeltine, Larksville.
