Michael "Cupcake" Moran, of Green Street, Pittston, died Friday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born July 1, 1958, he was a son of Lucy (Chmiel) Moran and the late Joseph J. Moran.
He was a 1976 graduate of Pittston Area High School.
He was employed as a truck driver.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, the former Frances Armitage; daughter, Kristy, and sons, Michael and Joseph, all at home; brother, Joseph Jr., Florida; sisters, Michelle Korpusik, Pittston; Jackie Hayes, Dallas; and Kim Thomas, Hughestown; and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are by the Paul F. Leonard Funeral Home, 575 N. Main St., Pittston.

Irene Ulihanick, of Jay Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Friday at her home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Susan Kozich Salamon. She attended the city schools.
She was employed in the garment industry for many years and was last employed at Franklin First Savings Bank, retiring five years ago. She was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Timek; second husband, Ambrose Ulihanick; brothers, Nicholas, George and John Salamon; sisters, Anna Tobias, Mary Warick and Helen McCaw.
Surviving are her daughter, Suzanne Sedan, Wilkes-Barre; and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Mary A. Harostock Funeral Home, 480 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Dallas. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church.

Eisenstein, Frank

Frank A. Eisenstein, of 10 E. South St., Wilkes-Barre, died Friday at his home.
Born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1912, he was educated in Prague and Germany. Upon completion of his service as lieutenant in the Czechoslovakian Army, he came to the United States in 1937 to represent his father's company. Cut off by World War II in 1939, he worked in New York City. He was called in the U.S. Army, serving in Europe as a special agent in the Counter Intelligence Corps (C.I.C.), earning a Bronze Star. Upon discharge in 1946, he joined the Desco Shoe Corp., of which he later became vice president.
In 1948 he started a local subsidiary, the Rex Shoe Co. (later Revelation Shoe Corp.,) in Exeter, of which he was vice president and general manager. He was also vice president of Gardena Shoe, California, and supervised other subsidiaries as vice president of manufacturing. He retired in 1986 after the sale of the company to an Australian conglomerate.
As a member of Temple B'nai B'rith, he served for many years on the board, served as president of the Drama Guild, chairman of the local A.J.C., board member of the Pittston Chamber of Commerce, on the board of the Interfaith Foundation and vice president of Temple Apartments. He was a member of Landmark Lodge 442, other Masonic bodies and the American Contract Bridge League. In recent years he has been an active participant in the Witness to the Holocaust program, lecturing to high school students.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Mathilde Eisenstein; brother, George; and sister, Vilma, all of whom perished during World War II.
Surviving are his spouse, Grete; daughter, Barbara Cohen, North Bethesda, Md.; Kathy Siegel, Belle Mead, N.J.; four grandsons and one nephew.
Funeral arrangements are by Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, at Temple B'nai B'rith, 408 Wyoming Ave., Kingston. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dora B. Hillard, 80, died Saturday at ManorCare Health Services, Kingston.
Born Nov. 13, 1920, in Hunlock Creek, she was the daughter of the late George and Madge Leonard Bowman and attended the former Harter High School, West Nanticoke.
Before retiring she was employed by Consolidated Cigar Factory, Berwick.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Bowman.
Surviving are sons, Hilbert "Max" Hillard, Trucksville; Kenneth Bowman, North Carolina; brother, Elliot Bowman, Shickshinny; sister, Maxine Davidson, Stillwater; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Joseph "Butch" Kobilinski, of Honor Park, Moosic, died Saturday at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton, following an illness.
Born in Moosic, he was the son of the late Alexander and Anna Sisicke Kobilinski. He was a graduate of Moosic High School.
He was last employed as a bricklayer at J.J. Palumbo Inc., Scranton, and was a member of Bricklayers Union #5. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Stanley and Walter; and sister, Esther Jucknewicz.
Surviving his wife of 28 years, the former Carol Reap; daughters, Terri Bowen, Clarks Summit; Kathy Conrad, Harding; brother, Alexander, Moosic; sisters, Helen Vitalletti, Scranton; Josephine Rubino, Old Boston, Pittston Township; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Sharon Menta, of San Diego, and formerly of Forty Fort, died Thursday at the Grossmont Medical Center, LaMesa, Calif.
Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of Ann Lucille Craig Menta, of Forty Fort, and the late Santino Menta.
She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Kingston, class of 1972, and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Radiology School in 1974. She was employed as a certified ultrasound technician at the Grossmont Medical Center for the past 22 years.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Doreen.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are sisters, Susan Marseco, Luzerne; Betsy Weems, Swoyersville; brothers, John Menta, Swoyersville; William Menta, West Wyoming; nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be Tuesday morning from the Frank A. Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville, with the Rev. Michael Zipay officiating. Dorothy Mary Robins Nash, a resident of Grove Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday at her home.
Born June 30, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Stanton and Anna Christina Simmer Robins.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre; a Sunday school teacher; district treasurer of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League; and a Girl Scout leader with the Penn death by her husband, Michael Leo Nash; son, Gerald Michael; daughter, Anna Louise; sisters, Grace Kocher and Louise Smith; brothers, Leonard and Nolde; and one granddaughter.
Surviving are her sons, Edwin and Garrett Nash, both of Wilkes-Barre; James Nash, Dunellen, N.J.; daughter, Susan Kotch, Wilkes-Barre; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Julia Potoeski, of Greeley, died Thursday at her home.
Born in the Hanover section of Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Barney and Anna Bohinski Baroski. She attended the Nanticoke schools.
She was a member of the Queen of Peace Church and its organizations, Hawley. She was employed by the Revlon Co., in Irvington, N.J., for 22 years and for Wal-Mart before retiring.
She and her husband, Thomas H., celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on Nov. 18.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Gertrude Ball; brothers, Frank, Edward and Barney Baroski; and one granddaughter.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are sons, Thomas, Millmont; George, Mount Joy; Kevin, Hamlin; sisters, Mary Bushko, Nanticoke; Anna Sorber, Fort Washington, Md.; Josephine Baroski, Shickshinny; brother, Chester Baroski, Hope, N.J.; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Stella Shurmaitis, 83, of RD 1, Harveys Lake, died Friday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Waterbury, Conn., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Martitius Bartkus. She resided at Toms River, N.J., for many years before moving to Harveys Lake 24 years ago.
During World War II, she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter." She and her husband owned and operated the Hilltop Inn at Harveys Lake for many years before retiring.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Olsen, Pat Reiger, Jay Neilson and Bertha Lawson.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Joseph G.; daughters, Mary Ann Nicosia, Bordentown, N.J.; Linda Shurmaitis, at home; Dawn Shurmaitis, New York City; son, Joseph P., Bear Creek; sisters, Helen Colangelo, Oakville, Conn.; Mona Allison, Winsted, Conn.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

David W. Thomas, 64, of Forrest Avenue, Bethlehem, died Saturday at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill.
Born July 13, 1936, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Evan and Harriet Bell Thomas. He attended Penn State University.
He was employed as vice president of Fritch, Inc., in Bethlehem, for the past 37 years. He served with the U.S. Army in the 1960s.
He and his wife, Rita (Conway) Thomas, of Bethlehem, celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on Friday, Dec. 22.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Roland Thomas.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters, Deborah Semple, Sewell, N.J.; Susan Terplan, Catasauqua; Diane Lehman, Sinking Spring; brother, Evan Thomas, Merritt Island, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Barbara J. Chorba, of Maltby Avenue, Swoyersville, died Sunday at Balanced Care Kingston.
Born in Plymouth, she was the daughter of Jean (Kertulis) Rogers, Shavertown section of Kingston Township, and the late Anthony Rogers. She was a graduate of Wilkes University, with a master's degree in elementary education. She was an elementary teacher for the Wyoming Valley West School District at the Dana Street School. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel G., Sr.; and son, David A.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her son, Daniel G., Jr., Dallas; and two grandsons.
