Peter Kuncio Sr., 74, of Main Street, Laflin, died Thursday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Laflin, he was the son of the late Wasyl and Anna (Hutsko) Kuncio. He worked in the custodial department of St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin. He was a decorated U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was a member and usher of St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin, and member of the Laflin Volunteer Firemen's Association.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Nicholas, John and Metro; and sisters, Mary Madison and Helen Kehoskie.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, the former Celia L. Gurchak; daughters, Lois J. Burian, Wilkes-Barre; and Donna M. Drank, Kingston; son, Peter J., Plains Township; seven grandchildren; brother, Michael, Pittston; and sisters Anna Goncheroski, Laflin; and Anastasia Golubiewski, Laflin.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Mark V. Yanaitis Funeral Home, 55 Stark St. Plains Township, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Exeter. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

Dina Menta, 85, formerly of Riverview Drive, Plains Township, died Wednesday at East Mountain Manor, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Jessup, she was a daughter of the late Emilio and Assunta (Fabri) Poli. She was a graduate of Hughestown High School. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Pittston.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marlene Jefferies; sisters, Olga Ferretti, Mae Brawer and Ellen Sawchak; and brother, David Poli.
Surviving are her husband, Ellwood; son, Dominic, West Wyoming; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brother, John Poli, Hughestown; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Metcalfe & Shaver Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Louis Francis Nati, 89, of Dushore RR 1, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital, Towanda.Born May 25, 1911, in Cherry Township, Dushore, he was a son of the late James and Margaret (Connors) Nati. He was a graduate of St. Basil's High School, Dushore. He was a sun ship builder in Chester, worked for the Chrysler Defense Plant, Eynon, and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Photo Licensing Bureau. He was self-employed in the garment industry and owned and operated a factory in Mildred. He was a member of St. Basil's Catholic Church, Dushore.

Pauska, 74, of West Enterprise Street, Glen Lyon section of Newport Township, died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.Born Oct. 1, 1926, in Glen Lyon, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Josephine (Savinski) Gayewski. SHe was a 1944 graduate of Newport Township High School. She was a member of St. Adalbert's Church, Glen Lyon.

Mary E. (Kasper) Regulski, 72, of Binghamton, N.Y., formerly of Plymouth, died Wednesday at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton.
Born in Plymouth, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Frances Kasper. She was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, its Ladies Club, Altar and Rosary Society and The Ladies of Charity.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph; and sister, Eleanor.
Surviving are her husband, Stephen; son, Andrew, Green River, Wyo.; one grandson, one granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sedlock Funeral Home Inc., 161 Clinton St., Binghamton, and at 9 a.m. at St. Cyril's Church, 148 Clinton St., Binghamton, where a funeral Mass will be held. Josephine Urban, 84, of Dorrance Township, died Thursday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Dec. 23, 1916, in Dorrance Township, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary Rusczyk. She worked at sewing factories in Wyoming Valley. She was a member of St. Mary's Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Dorrance Township, its Altar and Rosary Society and St. Therese's Guild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; son, Eugene; grandson, Francis; and brothers, John, Stanley, Chester, Ted, Henry, and Joseph Rusczyk.
Surviving are her sons, Raymond, Palmyra; Edward, Dorrance Township; and Joseph, Lebanon; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Pisack, Wilkes-Barre; and Stella Zugarek, Mountaintop; and brothers, Leo and Edmund Rusczyk, both of Dorrance Township.

Robert Winkelmann Sr., 82, of Winkelmann Road, Benton, died Thursday at his home.
Born April 7, 1918, in Reading, he was a son of the late Ralph and Kathryn (Fenstermacher) Master. He worked for Argo and U.S. Steel, Berwick. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Margaret Riley.
Surviving are his daughter, Kathy Konnick, Shickshinny; sons, Robert, Jr., Yellville, Ark.; and Alan, Hilltown; eight grandchildren; and brother, Ralph, North Carolina.

Josef A. Dukinas, of South Grant Street, Wilkes-Barre, formerly of Luzerne, died Tuesday at his residence.
Born July 5, 1922, in Forty Fort, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Staninkinas) Dukinas. He was a graduate of Luzerne High School. He was an art teacher for the Wyoming Valley West High School and also gave private lessons. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, formerly St. Ann's Parish, Luzerne, member and president of the Wyoming Valley Art League, volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul Kitchen and a Right to Life member.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Cawley.
Surviving are his brother, Raymond Dukinas, Trucksville section of Kingston Township; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Bednarski Funeral Home, 27 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Parish in St. Ann's Church, Bennett Street, Luzerne. eorge R. Evans, 70, of Kingston, died Friday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born April 13, 1930, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late William G. and Claire (Kelly) Evans. He was a graduate of Kingston High School and earned a bachelor's degree in science and mathematics from St. Bonaventure University, Bonaventure, N.Y., and a bachelor's degree in science and civil engineering from Lafayette College, Easton. He owned and operated Evans Engineering Co., Kingston. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Kingston, American Society of Civil Engineers, Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers, Water Environment Federation, American Water Works Association a~nd the Chi Phi Fraternity.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, the former Ann Luntz; daughters, Karen Evans Kaufer, Lynn Evans Biga and Barbara Evans Mericle, all of Kingston; four grandchildren; brother, William B., Dallas; sisters, Marilyn Evans and Claire Fair, both of New York City; ~and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 420 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Ignatius Church. Mary E. Habgood, 75, of Taylor, died Friday at home.
Born Aug. 23, 1925, in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Gerald and Mary (McGuire) Habgood. She attended Taylor schools. She worked for the former Kaltenbach's Bakery, Scranton, and was a baker in her family's business, the former Taylor Bakery, Taylor. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Taylor, its Family Society and Roundwoods Senior Citizens, Scranton.
Surviving are her sisters, Peggy A. Habgood, with whom she resided; and Sally A. Galacci, Taylor; one nephew, one niece, one great-nephew and one great-niece.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Church Street, Taylor. The Rev. Philip A. Altavilla will officiate. Robert M. Luongo, 58, of Buck-Birch Lane, Buck Township, died Friday at his home.Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of Marian (Bonomo) Luongo, Wilkes-Barre, and the late Rocky Luongo. He was a graduate of GAR High School. He was a master electrician for the Wilkes-Barre School District. He was a member of the Back Mountain Harvest Assembly, Trucksville section of Kingston Township.
Ley, Bertha Mary Haffey
Bertha Mary (Haffey) Ley, 88, of Laflin, died Friday following an illness.
Born July 11, 1912, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Bertha (Nicholson) Haffey. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Ley assisted her son, M. Ronald Ley, CPA, in his accounting practice and was a regional manager for Avon products. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Parish, Laflin, where she was a Eucharistic minister and lector. Mrs. Ley was also a member of the parish Finance Committee, Christian Service Committee, Sunday Counters and Young at Hearts Club.
She was a graduate of St. Ann's Academy, Class of 1930 and served in various official capacities for its Alumnae Association. She was either an officer, volunteer or member of the Reginas of Kings College, Catholic Daughters of America, Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, Quota Club, Geisinger Medical Center Auxiliary and American Red Cross. Her service to the community was remarkable.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. She was fondly known as 'Nana' to her grandchildren and certain friends. Her radiant smile, feisty personality and natural ability to make friends made her a special wonder of God's making. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her husband, S. ldris Ley, prominent accountant, died Dec. 29, 1954. A brother, Edward Haffey, also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her son, M. Ronald Ley, Hanover Township; grandson, Michael Ley, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; granddaughter, Mary Pat Ley Ulicny, Germantown, Md.; and niece, Barbara Gregorowicz, Millville, Pa.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. from McLaughlin Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Monday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Anna Aleszczyk, 88, of Carey Street, Ashley, died Friday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Jan. 24, 1912, in Jersey City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret Brzuszkiemrcz Czygierski. She was a resident of Ashley most of her life.
She was employed by Fernbaugh Silk Mill, Wilkes-Barre; Atwater Throwing Co., Plymouth; and several garment companies in the area, retiring in 1965.
She was a member of St. Leo's Church, Ashley, and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; sisters, Victoria Karpowich, Antoinette Lewandowski and Stella Murdolo.
Surviving are her daughters, Anna Merlie, Ashley; Alice Belanchik, Bear Creek Township; sons, John Aleszczyk, Allentown; ~Joseph Aleszczyk, Cockeysville, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
