Geraldine Brostrom
Geraldine Day Brostrom, 81, a longtime resident of Wellsboro, died December 5, 2001, in her home in Albion, NY, after a long illness.
She had 58 years of service to Corning Glassworks, Inc., 37 years as an active employee.
Mrs. Brostron was preceded in death by Evald Brostrom, her husband of 38 years. She is survived by her daughters Edna (Bruce) Kriner-Kirby of Albion, NY, Jeanne (Brian) Erway of Rochester, NY, grandchildren Christopher Kriner of Beacon, NY, Timothy (Bela) Kriner of Sacramento, CA, Galen and Felisa Erway of Rochester, NY, two sisters, Betty Hutchenson of Horseheads, NY, Edna (Leonard) Ferris of Green Bay, WI; a sister-in-law, Naomi Day of Wellsboro and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, "A Life Celebration Home," Wellsboro on Tuesday, December 11, 2001, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held there Wednesday, December 12, 2001, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Shumway Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans County, 14080 West Ave., Albion, NY 14411.

Rose A. Crist
Rose A. Crist, retired restaurant owner, of Oregon Hill Road, Morris, died Wednesday, December 5, 2001, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born January 31, 1926, in Hornsby, NY, the daughter of the late Hattie Rounsville.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Eugene Mast, her daughter Judy Guillaume and her sons Lonnie and Gary Mast.
She is survived by her loving husband, Buster Crist, with whom she managed their restaurant until their retirement; five sons William (Louise) Mast, Dennis (Carol) Mast, Fred Mast, David (Jim) Crist and Mark (Donna) Crist, as well as her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service for the family will be held at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, "A Life Celebration Home," in Wellsboro. Interment will be at the Oregon Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial donations to Southern Tier Hospice of Corning, NY, the Falck Cancer Center of Elmira, NY or a charity of one’s choice.

Blanche L. Everett
Blanche L. Everett, 86, of 101 N. Loyalsock Ave., Montoursville, died Wednesday, December 5, 2001, at Manor Care North, Williamsport. Born November 29, 1915, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Ernest N. and Mary Konkle Belles.
Blanche was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, a 1933 graduate of Montoursville H.S. and a 1938 graduate of Bucknell University. She enjoyed hosting the annual family Christmas gathering at her home. She played Christmas songs on the piano as she had a talent for playing by ear. She was an avid lover of big band and jazz music and was also fond of cats.
Blanche valued the time she spent with her family. She cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her home, friends and family visits.
The widow of L. Deavor Everett, Sr., who died December 18, 1981, she is survived by a son, L. Deavor (Dick) Everett, Jr., of Montoursville; two daughters, Barbara S. Orr of Williamsport and Ann Coolidge of South Williamsport; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a nephew, Robert B. Fink. She was predeceased by a grandson, Richard Lewis Everett.
There will be a private memorial graveside service at the convenience of the family at Montoursville Cemetery with her pastor, Rev. Paul C. Murphy, officiating. Arrangements by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Leonard Cecil Hazel III
Leonard Cecil Hazel III, infant son of Leonard C. Jr. and Melissa A. Pfleegor Hazel, was stillborn on December 4, 2001.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two sisters, Johanna N. and Katelyn J. Hazel, both at home; a half sister, Megan M. Hazel, Montoursville; maternal grandparents Gary and Linda Pfleegor, Williamsport; paternal grandmother Martha Johnson, Kylertown and maternal great-grandparents Mary Connacher and Raymond and Shirley Kontz, all of Williamsport. His paternal grandfather, Leonard C. Hazel, Sr. and his maternal great-grandfathers, Frank Connacher and Spencer Pfleegor, predeceased him.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., with Rev. John K. Manno, Annunciation Catholic Church, officiating. Visitation from 1:30-2 p.m. Interment in Montoursville Cemetery. The family will provide the flowers.

Kevin L. Kurtz
Kevin L. Kurtz, 37, formerly of Williamsport, died Thursday, November 22, 2001, in Florida. He is survived by his wife, Nina K. Kurtz of York Haven; his stepdaughter, Susan Calhoon of York Haven; a stepsister, Janette Kennedy of Williamsport; two aunts, Anita Hughes of Lawton, OK and Marlene Hill of Renovo and nine grandchildren.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Charles S. Mott
Charles S. Mott, 84, of Canton, died December 6, 2001. Surviving are his wife, Grace; two daughters, Charlene Corby of Elizabethtown and Carol Fitch of Canton; three sons, Sam of Doylestown, Max of Perkasie and the Honorable John C. of Canton; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister and a brother.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Canton Church of Christ. Friends may call 6-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pepper Funeral Home, Canton, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be private.

Frederick E. Portz
Frederick E. Portz, 76, of Exchange, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Geisinger Medical Center. A native of New Jersey, he was a civil engineer with the Picatinny Arsenal, Dover, NJ, retiring in 1985.
He is survived by two daughters in New Jersey.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at St. James Episcopal Cemetery, Exchange. Friends may call at Brooks Funeral Home, Turbotville, from 12-1 p.m.

Dr. Beverly A. Smith
Dr. Beverly A. Smith, 69, passed away Monday, December 3, 2001, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
She was born in Williamsport, where she graduated from the Williamsport High School. Upon graduation, she was employed as a flight attendant with American Airlines for 13 years, based in Chicago. She attended Chicago City Junior College, University of Illinois in Chicago and University of Illinois in Urbana; where she earned her doctorate.
She was employed by the federal government at their National Center for Toxicological Research, in Jefferson, Arkansas, as a medical research chemist, until she retired in April of 2000. Many honors and society memberships were bestowed upon her during her career. She was also responsible for numerous scientific publications from 1979 to 1997.
Beverly was preceded in death by her father, Weldon L. Smith. Surviving are her mother, Pauline M. Smith of Sycamore Manor; one sister, Janice L. Upham and husband, Frank, of Williamsport; one niece, Tracie Painton and son, Evan of Williamsport; and a nephew, Ross Painton, of Huntington Beach, Ca. Private Burial services will be at Twin Hills Memorial Park, pending arrangements by family.

John P. Blaschak Sr.
John P. Blaschak, Sr., 85, of Mill Hall, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001.
Surviving are two sons, one daughter, six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Agnes Church, 7 East Walnut St., Lock Haven, with Rev. Fr. Robert Brown. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30, Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Boulevard, Mill Hall.

Harry L. Deise
Harry L. "Bud" Deise, 60, a guest at Rose View Center, formerly of 341 Adams Street, Williamsport, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at the center. Born March 17, 1941, in Avis, he was a son of the late Ward and Miriam Blesh Diese.
Mr. Deise retired in 1991 after 24 years service with Textron. He was a 1959 graduate of Jersey Shore High School and an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Nascar.
On Sept. 29, 1967, in Avis, he marriage the former Juniata E. Berry, who survives along with two daughters, Rowenna L. Sweeney of Williamsport and Mary A. Deise of Harrisburg. Also surviving is a grandson, Thomas L. Persun; a greanddaughter, Joclyn Persun and a great-grandson, Austin Randall, all of Williamsport and a sister, Marilyn Wagner of Avis.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday at the Noll Funeral Home, 1 E. Central Ave., South Williamsport, with the Reverend Gerald Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in Swissdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.
