Warren E. Clark, 72, of 144 Seventh Street, Renovo, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. His wife, the former Reba M. Schoonover, survives. He retired in 1982 from Proctor and Gamble, Mehoopany. He was a social member of the American Legion in Renovo. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to camp at McCoy Run and crossword puzzles. He was a Protestant. Born March 24, 1928, in Fleetville, he was a son of Hobart and Nellie Clark. Surviving, besides his wife, are two daughters, Sandra Pratt of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Linda Stump of Mechanicsville, Md.; a son, Todd in Colorado; two sisters, Melba Collum of Uniondale and Dorothy Conrad of Kingsley; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Hubbs. The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Maxwell’s, 205 Fifth St., Renovo, with the Rev. Mahlon Nevel officiating. Burial will be in New Maple Grove Cemetery, Leidy Township. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday.
Anne Madonna Damaska
Anne Madonna Damaska, 80, formerly of this city, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000 in Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont. She was a 1938 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. Born Dec. 7, 1919, in Monnessen, she was a daughter of Herman and Gertrude Nicolaus Damaska. Surviving are two brothers, Paul L. and Leo M., both of this city. She was preceded in death by a brother, Herman, and two sisters, Agnes Ruhl and Mary Margaret. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 1220 Northway Road, with the Rev. Andrew Kurovsky, officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. The family will provide the flowers. Arrangements are being handled by Crouse’s, 133 E. Third St.
William M. Foringer
William M. Foringer, 91, of 99 Silver Ave., Lamar, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, in the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care. He and his wife, the former Sara M. Gunsallus, observed their 65th wedding anniversary Dec. 22. He retired from Lock Haven Auto Co., Lock Haven, in 1988 after 30 years. He also drove school bus in Porter Township for 24 years. He was a charter member and oldest living member of the Nittany Valley Volunteer Fire Co., Lamar. He was a member of the Mill Hall Church of Christ, where he had been a deacon. Born Nov. 21, 1908, in Jacksonsville, he was a son of Perry and Rilla Shamp Foringer. Surviving, besides his wife, is a sister, Elva L. Rager of Clintondale. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Wetzler’s, 320 Main St., Mill Hall, with the Rev. James H. Redmon, his pastor, officiating. Internment will be in Hublersburg Cemetery, Walker Township, Centre County. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday.
Alex E. Kedzierski
MUNCY - Alex E. Kedzierski, 60, of 2381 Route 405 Highway died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at home after a lengthy illness. He was the founder and director of the Lycoming Art Student League, where he taught oil and pastel painting for more than 10 years. He illustrated a full-length art-related book and numerous articles on oil and pastel painting for the North Light Books and Artist Magazine. Born Nov. 1, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., he was a son of Augustyn and Marya Urban Kedzierski. Surviving are a sister, Emily C. McGowan of Eustice, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews and cousins in the Chicago area. A memorial mass will be at 9 a.m. Monday in the Church of the Resurrection, 526 South Main St.
Christine M. Steiger Kelly
Christine M. Steiger Kelly, 92, of 454 Arlington Road, Camp Hill, a city native, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, in Holy Spirit Hospital in East Pennsboro Township. She graduated from the former Lock Haven State þTeachers College in 1928. She was a retired teacher, having taught grade school in South Williamsport and kindergarten in Camp Hill. She was formerly a member of First Baptist Church, Williamsport, and Bloomingrove Historical Society and Dunkard Church. She was a member of the West Shore Baptist Church and Questers, both in Camp Hill. Born Aug. 24, 1907, she was a daughter of Lewis P. and Martha C. Bidelspacher Edler. Surviving are a sister, Alice E. Drengwitz of Silver Spring, Md., and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville. Rev. Allen H. Goss of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The family will provide the flowers.

WELLSBORO - Charles W. Kriner, 68, of Wellsboro RR 5 died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at home. A brother, James A. Kriner, 82, of Wellsboro RR 7, died Saturday. He and his wife, the former Bessie M. Shelmire, observed their 34th wedding anniversary Jan. 8. He was employed by Corning Glass Works for 22 years. He was an Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the Draper Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. Born June 6, 1932, in this borough, he was a son of Perley and Grace Gitchell Kriner. Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, Brian; a daughter, Christine M. Hardee of Dallas, Texas; three brothers, Allen of Wellsboro, Basil of Lapine, Ore., and Lyle of Morris; two sisters, Dorothy Blackburn of Glendora, Calif. and Linda Hansen of Juneau, Alaska; and a grandson. He was predeceased by two brothers besides James, Donald and Arnold; and two sisters, Arlene Johns and Marion Torpy. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church, with Willis H. Martin Sr. and the Revs. Ronald Bly and James Truax officiating. There will be no visitation. The family will provide the flowers. Arrangements are being handled by Tussey-Mosher’s, 139 Main St.

Shirley L. Liddic, 59, of 100 Sunset Drive, Montoursville, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at home after a brief illness. She and her husband, Jack H. Liddic, observed their 36th wedding anniversary June 27. She was a teacher at Faith United Methodist Church Preschool for 13 years and previously worked part-time at James V. Brown Library and was a teacher at the former Washington Elementary School in the Williamsport Area School District. She was a 1959 graduate of Williamsport High School and a 1963 graduate of the former Lock Haven State Teachers College. She was a member of State Road United Methodist Church. Born May 31, 1941, in this city, she was a daughter of Paul M. and Grace A. Paulhamus Lovell. Surviving, besides her husband, are her mother of this city; two daughters, Candace S. and Kristen L., both at home; two sisters, Marian I. Beck of Montgomery and Pauline M. Durkee of this city; and a grandson, Dylan P. Egli. She was preceded in death by a sister, Janice R. Bardo. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Green Lawn Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne L. Hepler, her pastor, officiating. There will be no visitation. George Joseph Sapolsky
George Joseph Sapolsky, 90, of Tallahassee, Fla., died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000. He worked in the furniture and upholstering business in this city for more than 50 years. He was the widower of, the former Rachel Fine. He served in the Army Military Police Camp during World War II. He was a member of Ohev Sholem Synagogue. He was born Jan. 8, 1910, in Brooklyn, N.Y. Surviving are a son Barry of Tallahassee; a daughter, Dahri May of Reston, Va.; and five grandchildren. Private family services will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Culley’s, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee.

Word has been received of the death of Anthony P. Steiner, 96, of Punta Gorda, Fla., formerly of the Cogan Station area, who died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Lifelong Care Center, Punta Gorda. His wife, the former Marian Anglehoffer, died in June 1972. He retired from Warsaw and Sons, Montoursville, as a loom mechanic. He was an Army veteran. He was born April 28, 1904, in Arth, Switzerland. Surviving are two sons, Peter M. of Punta Gorda and Anthony P. of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Rosemary E. Fay of Noble, Okla.; 10 grandchildren including Miriam T. Miller of Trout Run, Rebecca J. Michael of Montoursville and Carl F. Orso III of Muncy; and 14 great-grandchildren. Burial was in Oakside Cemetery, Zephyrills, Fla.

MILL HALL - Roger Alexander White, 14, of Mill Hall RR 1 died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was a student at Central Mountain West Middle School. He enjoyed camping, music, school, collecting things and books. He was a Boy Scout. He was a sports fan, watching the Cowboys and the Yankees. Born March 4, 1986, in Lock Haven, he was a son of Roger W. and Susan Leone White. Surviving, besides his parents at home, are a brother, Chris H. of Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.; maternal grandmother, Adeline Leone of Mill Hall; and a nephew. He was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Mary Jones and maternal grandfather, Vance Peck. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Faith Chapel, Howard, with the Rev. Thelma Rosencrans Smith Dalke
Thelma Rosencrans Smith Dalke, 91, a city native, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Masonic Home, Elizabethtown. She was the widow of Richard L. Dalke. She retired from the former Selective Service and the Patriot News. She was a daughter of Charles and Carris Rosencrans. Surviving are a daughter, Dorothy Smith Lebo of Baltimore, Md.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Rolling Green Memorial Gardens in the Harrisburg area. Arrangements are being handled by Hetrick’s, Susqeuhanna Township.
Lucy I. Curchoe Dietrick
Lucy I. Curchoe Dietrick, 89, of 1490 Hepburn St. died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000. She and her husband, Harry A. Dietrick, observed their 66th wedding anniversary June 16. She was co-founder of Curchoe’s food stores with her mother and three brothers. They opened their first store in the 1930s and she retired in 1992 when the last of the markets were sold. She was a volunteer at Divine Providence Hospital. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Senior Citizens group. A member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, she was a past member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court of Our Lady of Victory 532. Born Sept. 4, 1910, in this city, she was a daughter of Royal S. and Josephine Cosentine-Donato Churchoe. Surviving, besides her husband, are four daughters, Carol J. Sortman and Joan J. Sortman, both of this city, Dr. Lucille A. of Cleveland, Tenn. and Debbie D. Anthony of Northampton; two sons, Harry A. Jr. of this city and Louis R. of Tucson, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph F.; an infant grandson; four brothers, Ernest F. Eugene A., Carl A. and Lawrence S. Curchoe; and two sisters, Rose and Adaline. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, in the church, 326 Washington Blvd., with Msgr. Stephen D. John Elick Jr.
John Elick Jr., 71, of Linden died Tuesday, August 8, 2000, in Williamsport Hospital. He was married to the former, Marie A. Fleming for 50 years. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a retired Air Force master sergeant. He formerly was employed at Lundy Lumber Co. He was a lifetime member of the Air Force Sergeant’s Association, a member of Linden American Legion Post 945 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Born April 22, 1929, in Barnesboro, he was a son of John Sr. and Edna Gromely Elick. Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, Robert of Cherry Tree; six sisters, Mary Jones, Marlene Ropchock, Margaret Hertzog, all of Northern Cambria, Clara Ann Cukrovany of Aliquippa, Darlene Keith of Girard, Ohio and Barbara McCracken of Cherry Tree; a brother, Michael of East Palenstine, Ohio; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald, and two sisters, Iona Timek and Dorothy Price. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Long-Contres’, Penn Street at Clarion Road, Cherry Tree, with the Revs. Richard Jones and Kenneth Brown, officiating. Interment will be at East Ridge Cemetery with military honors accorded by combined veterans organizations.

Bert Gordner
MILLVILLE - Bert Gordner, 89, of Millville RR 1 died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, in Millville Healthcare Center. His wife, the former Emily Robbins, died Dec. 4, 1993. He was a farmer, retiring in 1987. He also ran a saw mill, worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for many years and was a Pine Township supervisor. He raised horses and was involved in horse pulls. He was a Pine Township Democratic Committeeman and a member of the Millville Grange, both for more than 50 years. He attended the former Wintersteen School, Pine Township. He was a life member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, a member of its council, a Sunday school supervisor and Cemetery association treasurer. Born Oct. 31, 1910, in Pine Township, he was a son of John Oliver and Sadie Gardner Gordner. Surviving are a son, Fredrick T. of Benton RR 3; three daughters, Evelyn of Unityville RR1, Louise Jordan of Muncy Valley and Elva Whitmoyer of Millville RR 1; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Minier; three brothers, Thomas, Grant and Ralph; three sisters, Adda Diltz, Hannah Messner and Mary; and two grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church, Unityville RR 1, with his pastor, the Rev. Charles Baier, officiating. Burial will Gordner Cemetery.
