MILDRED - Bruno J. Guglielmi III, 24, of this community died Sunday, July 2, 2000, in an automobile accident in Two Rivers, Alaska, along with his unborn child, Klein Guglielmi. He and his wife, the former Krystal Klein, observed their 3rd wedding anniversary July 5. A sergeant in the Army, he was awarded a commendation medal, two achievement medals, expert infantry badge, air assault badge and the national defense ribbon. He was a graduate of Sullivan County High School. He was a member of the White Ash Land Association and McDermott Post 452, American Legion. He was a member of Mildred Fire Department and an emergency medical technician for Mildred Ambulance Association before he enlisted in the Army. Born Feb. 26, 1976, in Towanda, he was a son of Donna Guglielmi and Bruno John Guglielmi Jr. Surviving, besides his wife, are his mother, Donna; a sister, Melissa Guglielmi Mapes; grandparents George and Hazel Wettlaufer; a nephew; and several aunts and uncles. His father, Bruno John Guglielmi Jr. died in 1983. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, here, with the Rev. Michael B. Harris officiating. Internment will be in the adjoining parish Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by P. Dean Homer’s, 206 Water St., Dushore.
Clifford R. Kocher
MUNCY - Clifford R. Kocher, 68, of 125 Reservoir Road died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at home. He and his wife, the former Irene Clayburn, observed their 48th wedding anniversary March 22. He retired in 1993 as a corrections officer at the Lycoming County Prison, where he was employed for 13 years. He was employed by Weldon Manufacturing as a shipping supervisor. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, having received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Korean War Vets of Lycoming County Inc. and the Williamsport Area Management Club. He was a 20-year member of the Muncy Creek Volunteer Fire Co. and fire police, where he was named fire policeman of the year in 1997. Born Aug. 31, 1931, in Sugarloaf Township, Columbia County, he was a son of Guy W. and Eleanor Peterman Kocher. Surviving, besides his wife, are his mother of Benton; two sons, Michael M. Foley of Dover, Del. and Jeffrey T. Foley of Riceville, Tenn.; three daughters, Judy F. Rossi and Esther P. Fentstermacher, both of Muncy, and Carol V. Turner of Montgomery; four brothers, Rex, Wilbur and Donald, all of Benton and Gilbert of Dover, Del.; a sister, Mary Walker of Salem, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wallis-Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., with the Rev. Arland F. Romberger officiating. Internment will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park, where military honors will be accorded by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County. The family will provide the flowers. Carole Neece Morse, 69, a former city resident, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at the home of a daughter in Sebastopol, Calif. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest L. Neece and her second husband, Chuck Morse. She was a cook at Southern Grill and previously worked at Jim Walter Doors and Sylvania GTE, Montoursville. She attended school in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and graduated in Dayton, Ohio. Born July 31, 1931, in Waitsburg, Wash., she was a daughter of Elmer L. and Clarice I. Grove Buroker. Surviving are her mother, Clarice I. McCauley of Walla Walla, Wash.; three sons, Steven M. of Bartlesville, Okla., Don E. of Windsor, Calif. and David of this city; two daughters, Janet Greninger of Sebastopol and Vicki Gonzalez of this city; two brothers, K. Gene Buroker of Victor, Mont., Elmer Bobbie Buroker of Bloomington, Idaho; five sisters, Margery Jass of Walla Walla, Marta Myers of Cavenrock, Ill., Darlene McCullough of Lewiston, Idaho, Sandy Niering of Pinehurst, Idaho and Carol Lee Watts of Kellogg, Idaho; and nine grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 20, at the swimming/picnic area at World’s End State Park, Forksville.

MONTGOMERY- Hope Staib Myers, 74, of 100 Montgomery St. died Friday, August 11, 2000, in Muncy Valley Hospital after an extended illness. Her husband, Lavern W. Myers, died in 1989. She was a member of the West Branch Chorale. She was a member of the Bowe-Decker American Legion Post 251, ladies auxiliary. She was a 1944 graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School. She enjoyed music, crafts, reading and gardening. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran “Brick” Church. Born, May 25, 1926, in Muncy Creek Township, she was a daughter of Vern G. and Madeline Love Staib. Surviving in, a son, Joel L. Myers of Montgomery. She was predeceased by a daughter, Holly L. Myers; and a brother, Jess W. Denoskey. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wedenesday in the church, 196 Brick Church Road, with the Rev. Scott W. Baker, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the church Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church. The family will provide the flowers. Arrangements are being handled by Betzer’s 40 E. Wayne LaRue Cryder, 49, of 112 W. Melrose St., Marion Heights, a Jersey Shore native, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at home following an illness of two months. A baker, he had been disabled for the past four years. He and his wife, the former Tammy L. Bitler, were married 21 years on July 14. He was a graduate of the Milton Hershey School, Hershey. He was a Lutheran. Born May 8, 1951, he was a son of Mervin John and Caroline Randecker Cryder. Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons, Donald and Nathan, both of Schuylkill Haven; his stepfather and mother, Gerald and Caroline Umstead of Montgomery; four sisters, Ruth Little of Daly City, Calif., Joyce Lane of Brooksville, Fla.; Crystal Smith of Turlock, Calif., and Kimberly Thompkins of Montgomery, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at noon Thursday in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery RR 2. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Kelley’s, 1001 W. Arch St., Shamokin.

LOCK HAVEN- Leah E. Dwulet, 77, of 18 Parkwood Drive, Lock Haven, formerly of Shamokin, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, in Lock Haven Hospital.Her husband, Harry F. Dwulet, Jr., died Feb. 28, 1981. She was a homemaker. Born, April 9, 1923 in Shamokin, she was a daughter of Amos and Sarah Heim Lahr. She was predeceased by three sisters, Pearl Wehry, Carrie Neary, and Kate Miller, and two brothers, Clarence and Raymond Lahr. Surviving is a son, Gregory Dwulet, with whom she lived. WELLSBORO - Joseph N. Searfoss Sr., 62, of Wellsboro RR 2, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, in Soliders and Sailors Memorial Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. He and his wife, Jane A. Alexander Searfoss, observed their 38th wedding anniversary April 21. He was co-owner and operator of Seal’s Building Supply, Blossburg, and Hill’s Creek Truss Co., Wellsboro. He previously was manager of the Wellsboro and Troy Acme Markets. He was a member of the Wellsboro Moose chapter. Born April 9, 1938, in Sayre, N.Y., he was a son of Joseph F. and Anna L. Bourdette Searfoss. Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, Joseph N. of Wellsboro; a daughter, Polly Getgen of Wellsboro; four brothers, Harold and Ronald, both of Waverly, N.Y., Robert of Beaver Dams, N.Y. and David of Corapolis; five sisters, Helen Rimbey of Gillett, Joanne Jones of Painted Post, N.Y., Beverly Russell and Florence Vernon, both of Waverly N.Y. and Lois Wood of Alster; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul, and a sister, Ruth. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tussey-Mosher’s, 139 Main St., with the Rev. Kenneth Kitzmiller officiating. MIDDLEBURY CENTER - Nancy M. Starkweather, 55, of Middlebury Center RR 2, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, in Robert Packer Memorial Hospital, Sayre. She and her husband, Thomas L. Starkweather, observed their 39th wedding anniversary in December. She was employed by Wundies, Inc., Wellsboro Division, for more than 20 years. She was secretary of Niles Valley Cemetery. He was a member of Antrim Baptist Church. Born Oct. 5, 1944, in Wellsboro, she was a daughter of Anna Hughes Smith and Clarence W. Smith. Surviving, besides her husband, are a son, Randy L. Starkweather of Middlebury Center; a daughter, Cindy Turner of Frederick, Md.; her mother of Antrim; and seven brothers, Richard, Walter and Rick Smith, all of Antrim, Eugene, Jerry, and Bernard Smith, both of Wellsboro, and Thomas Smith of Mansfield. She was predeceased by brothers, Ronald and Robert Smith. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Tussey-Mosher’s, 130 Main St., Wellsboro, with the Rev. Dennis Crumb officiating. Robert L. Allen
Robert L. Allen, 76, of San Antonio, Texas, a city native, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000. He and his wife, Elfreeda, observed their 54th wedding anniversary recently. He retired as a finance officer in 1963. He was financial manager for the National Advertising program in the Air Force Recruiting Service at Randolph Air Force Base. Allen was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force in Europe during World War II. Born June 20, 1924, city, he was the son of Albert and Elizabeth Allen. Surviving, besides his wife, are three daughters, Karen Malek of Grove, N.Y. and Jeanne Selfridge of Bethany, Okla. and Sharon of Austin, Texas; a son Thomas of Indialantic, Fla.; a brother, Thomas P. of Senatobia, Miss. six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Porter Loring Chapel, San Antonio, Texas. Burial with military honors will be in Ft. Sam Housrton National Cemetery. Elizabeth Grieb Andrews, 80, formerly of Salona, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit, where she had been a resident of three years. Her husband, Harold William Andrews died July 3, 1987. She worked at the former Sylvania plant, Mill Hall and at the Salona Post Office. She formerly attended the Salona Senior Center. She was a member of Salona United Church of Christ. Born April 5, 1920, in East End Nittany Valley, she was a daughter of Aaron and Helen Miller Grieb. Surviving are three sons, Robert E. of Salona, Allen R. of Mill Hall RR 3 and Jeffrey W. of West Henrietta, N.Y.; three brothers, Robert Grieb of Tylersville and Karl and Gerald Grieb, both of Rote; three sisters, Lois Miller of Salona, Marion Weaver of Ocala, Fla. and Gladys Hurd of Clearfield; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Grieb. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Yost-Gedon’s, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven, with the Rev. Jack D. Eugene A. Barnhart, 75, of 710 Snaury Town Road, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. He and his wife, the former Carolyn “Carrie” Clark, would have observed their 51st wedding anniversary Aug. 20. He retired in 1985 as an elementary school teacher at Montgomery where he taught for 32 years he previously taught at Twin Lakes Elementary School on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. He was a 1942 graduate of Bellefonte High School and a 1952 graduate of Lock Haven State Teachers College. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Retired Teachers Association. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Cogan Station. He served in the Navy from 1945 to 1946. He enjoyed playing harmonica, cars, traveling and history. Born Oct. 5, 1924, in New Castle, he was a son of Samuel B. and Grace Barnhart. Surviving, besides his wife, are six sons, Les of Selinsgrove, Jim of Bellefonte, Tom, Andy and John, all of Montgomery and Ben of LaBelle, Fla.; a brother, Samuel of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Grace Luhrs of Boca Raton, Fla; and 26 grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Betzer’s, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, with his son Les, officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park. JERSEY SHORE - R. Richard Bowers, 79, of 1820 Dockwood Trail, Chesapeake, Va., a Jersey Shore Native, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at home. His wife, Alva Bowers survives. He was a meat cutter and had worked at Robbs Store, Avis. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran and a Korean War Navy reserves veteran. He attended Jersey Shore Schools. He was a former member of Phelps Chapel, Jersey Shore and a member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Chesapeake. Born Sept. 15, 1920, in Jersey Shore, he was a son of Harry C. and Esther Armstrong Bowers. Surviving are a son, Dennis of Chesapeake; a daughter, Lee Anne Szwyoek of Chesapeake; a brother, Charles of Jersey Shore; three sisters, Jane Miller, Catherine Lundy and Erba Kibbe, all of Jersey Shore; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rearick-Carpenter’s, 1002 Allegheny St. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park with military honors accorded by Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County. MILDRED - Word has been recieved of the death of Bruno J. Guglielmi III, 24, of this community who died Sunday, July 2, 2000, in an automobile accident in Two Rivers, Alaska, along with his unborn child, Klein Guglielmi. He and his wife, the former Krystal Klein, were married July 4, 1996. A sergeant in the Army, his first assignment was at Fort Drum, N.Y. He was then assigned to Alaska where he and his wife lived in North Pole. He served with Charlie Co. 1-17th Infantry as a team leader with 1st Platoon and later a squad leader with 2nd Platoon. He was a graduate of PLDC, Air Assault, Combat Lifesaver, Field Sanitation, and Cold Weather Leader’s Course. He was promoted to Sergeant Oct. 8. His awards and decorations included a commendation medal, two achievement medals, expert infantry badge, air assault badge and the national defense ribbon. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and skeet shooting, he was an expert rifleman. He was a graduate of Sullivan County High School. He was a member of the White Ash Land Association and McDermott Post 452, American Legion. He was a member of Mildred Fire Department and an emergency medical technician for Mildred Ambulance Association before he enlisted in the Army. Born Feb. 26, 1976, in Towanda, he was a son of Donna Guglielmi and Bruno John Guglielmi Jr. Surviving, besides his wife, are his mother, Donna; a sister, Melissa Guglielmi Mapes; grandparents George and Hazel Wettlaufer; a nephew; and several aunts and uncles. John Edward Lehman
John Edward Lehman, 53, a former city resident, died Tuesday Aug. 8, 2000, while on a business trip in Cincinnati. He lived in Grafton, Ohio for the last 12 years. His wife of 14 years, Pamela, survives. He was employed by J.C. Mottinger Association, Pittsburgh, as a design engineer, for two years and previously with GlowCare, a division of MTD Products. He enjoyed vintage car and auto cross racing. Born Feb. 5, 1947, in Emmaus, he was a son of Revere and Marion Lehman. Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Emily Townsend of Albany, N.Y.; a sister, Sally Markle of Columbia, Ky.; and a grandson, Jonathan Townsend. Funeral and burial services will be scheduled at a later date at Moravian Church Cemetery, Emmaus. Arrangements are being handled by Blackburn’s 1021 Main St., Grafton.

Elwood F. Miller, 85, of 2123 Blair St., died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. His wife, the former Alzine E. Fulmer died March 19, 1992. He retired in 1980 as a sales representative for Statesville Furniture Co., in North Carolina, after 40 years. Born Dec. 6, 1914, in Montgomery, he was a son of J. Ray Miller and Mabel Elizabeth Fulmer Miller. He was a member of Red Ridge Hunting Club and enjoyed fishing. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Surviving are a son, Herbert Ray of this city; a daughter, Donna Kay of this city; a sister, M. June Myers of Hughesville; and three grandsons, Timothy Ray, Michael David and Jason Travis Ott. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Max C. and Donald. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Noll’s, 1 E. Central Ave., South Williamsport, with the Rev.
