Robert M. Sees, 65, of 1360 Mansel Ave., died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at home. He and his wife, the former Joyce E. Simcox, observed their 47th wedding anniversary July 12. He retired as a master sergeant in the Air Force in 1976, after 22 years. He was supervisor of the recruiting station, Lousiville, Ky. He was a Vietnam War veteran. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from McKendree College, Labanon, Ill. He was a former member of the Warrensville Lions Club. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and reading. Born Nov. 9, 1934, in this city, he was a son of Robert and Blanche Paulhamus Sees. Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons, Christopher H. of Douglasville, Ga. and David R. of Norristown; a daughter, Jana L. Salvatori of Montoursville; and a granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave, with the Rev. Robert G. Wallace, pastor of Third Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Isabelle L. Dickey
LOCK HAVEN – Isabelle L. Dickey, 85, of 350 Herr St., Flemington died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000 at her residence. She was the wife of Paul E. Dickey who died in 1992. She was employed by Armature, Northeast Rebuilders and Lock Haven Laundry. Born June 11, 1915 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of Frank and Mary Ellen Ross Sohmer. Surviving are a son, Gary Mancini of Flemington; a daughter, Barbara Metzger of Willliamsport; a sister, Lillian Sohmer of Lock Haven; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Walker’s, 231 High St., Flemington. Burial will be in Dunnstown Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
R. Kelts Dillman
WELLSBORO - R. Kelts Dillman, 83, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at the Williamsport Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Claire VanNorman. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the European Theater of Operation as a medic, assigned to the 342nd Combat Engineers. He participated in the Normandy invasion of France at Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge. Upon returning to Wellsboro, he entered a business partnership with his father and brother selling farm equipment with International Harvester Co. He retired from IDS/American Express after 20 years of service as a financial planner. Dillman was a member and served on the Vestry of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. He was also a member of Ossea Lodge #317, F&AM, Coudersport Consistory and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid outdoorsman. Born Sept. 18, 1916 in Westfield, he was the son of Carl H. and Mildred K. Dillman. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Deborah D. Kear of Mechanicsburg; a son, Gary K. of Sabinsville; four grandchildren, Jennifer Anne and James Michael Kear, plus Terra Lee and Maegan Kelts Dillman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard, and a sister, Janet Kilbourne. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Officiating will be Rev. Gregory P. Hinton. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield. Friends may call at Tussey-Mosher’s, 139 Main St., from 7-9 p.m. Monday. LOCK HAVEN – Glenn W. Duck, 73, of 12 E. Church St., died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Lock Haven Hospital. He and his wife Marie S. Sachetti celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary Oct. 26, 1999. He was employed by Thompson Meats, Jersey Shore. Prior to that, he was employed as a meat cutter and foreman at the former Winners Meat Market Packing Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He attended Immaculate Conception Church. He was a member of the Giosue Garducci Lodge 146 Sons of Italy; the American Legion Post 0131, and the Castanea Fire Co. Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Patricia Glatz of New Providence; a son, Donald of Newnan, Ga.; four granchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one stepgrandchild. He was predeceased by a son, Glenny; a daughter, Holly Holderman; and a stepgranddaughter, Pamela Mazzotta Kennedy. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Moriarty-Dutcavich’s, 112 E. Church St., with the Rev. Monsignor Dennis R. Boggs of Immaculate Conception Church, officiating Burial will be at the convenience of the family St. Agnes Cemetery.

Connie L. Greenaway, 52, of 2210 Mahaffey Lane died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at her home. She was an office manager for Perciballi and Willliams Law Firm. She was an avid bingo player. Born in this city, July 15, 1948, she was a daughter of Victor E. and Doris E. Brown Hoffman Sr. Surviving are three sons, Donald A. Jr. of this city, Shane A. and Chad L. Everett Greenaway both of Richmond, Va., and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Victor E. Hoffman Jr. A private memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the home of her son, Donald A. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. George M. Meyer
George M. Meyer, 73, of 1830 Blanchard Ave., died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, in the Manor Care Health Services North following an extended illness. He was employed at the former Pullman Power Products Co. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Meyer was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He and his wife, the former Ruth E. Stepp, observed their 52nd wedding anniversary last Sept. 26. Born in this city, Feb. 17, 1927, he was a son of Warren Allen and Rose Weisenburger Meyer. Surviving, besides his wife, are three sons, Jesse W., Gary M. and Jack E. all of this city; three daughters, Martha J. Meyer, Connie M. Hess, and Donna D. Meyer, all of this city; four sisters, Hilda Artley, Enid Smith and Jean Stahl all of this city, Rose Meyer of Fort Pierce, Fla.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Wade R., two daughters, Georgia Arroyo and Sally Meyer; a brother, Jack W.; a sister, Cleo Meyer and two grandchildren. BLOSSBURG - Kathleen A. Kaminski, 55, of Rochester, N.Y., formerly of Blossburg, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. She retired from Eastman Kodak in 1992. She was a 1982 graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology. She was a member of the Theodore Roosevelt American Legion Post #167, Morris Run; the William B. Wilson American Legion Post #572, Blossburg; the Veterans of Foreign Wars Supreme Sacrifice Post #8730, Blossburg; and the Hillside Rod and Gun Club, Blossburg. Born April, 12, 1945, in Blossburg, she was a daughter of Thomas and Regina Nowak Kaminski. Surviving are a sister, Tina Robinson, Pine City, N.Y.; a brother, James Kaminski, Rochester, N.Y.; two nephews; two great-nephews; and aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father in 1963, her mother in 1991 and her step-father in 1992. A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Freeberg Funeral Home, 120 North Williamson Road, Blossburg. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Blossburg. TROUT RUN - Max E. Roupp, 65, of 492 Post Road, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at home. He and his wife, the former Barbara A. Kile, celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary March 17, 2000. He was employed by Fry Brothers Turkey Ranch in Steam Valley for 47 years, worked for Cogan House Township and also Grasso’s Restaurant also in Steam Valley. He attended Steam Valley Bible Church. Born June 11, 1935, in Beech Grove, he was a son of William L. and Ruth E. Letson Roupp. Surviving besides his wife, are a step-daughter Debra A. Richart, Roaring Branch; a step-son Roger R. Herriman, Turbotville; two brothers, Vernon D. and Glenn W. Roupp; four sisters, Ona M. Persun, Shirley V. Livermore, and Eva R. Schmouder, all of Trout Run; Betty J. Gardner, Avis; six step-grandchildren; and 4 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo B. and Miles L. Roupp. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McCarty-Thomas’, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Gerald Peet of Steam Valley Bible Church officiating. DUSHORE – William J. Rouse, 83, of Dushore died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at his residence. He and his wife Pauline Neuber Rouse celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary Aug. 23. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He also was employed by Harrington & Co. Creamery of Dushore and the Dushore Silk Mill. He was a member of St. Basil’s Catholic Church, Dushore and the Holy Name Society. He was an avid sports fan. Born June 27, 1917 in Wilmot Township, Bradford County, he was the son of Harry and Anna Sullivan Rouse. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Kathleen Arpa of Vienna, Va., Rosemary Meisner of Ashburn, Va. and Dolores Inch of Vienna, Va.; two sons, James of Dushore and Richard of Woodbridge, Va.; a sister, Helen Keating of Elmira, N.Y.; 12 granchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, William R, and a brother, Robert. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the P. Dean Homer’s, 206 Water St., Dushore. Interment will be in St. Basil’s Cemetery. MONTOURSVILLE - Vera A. Harris Starr, 93, of 1126 Elm St., Montoursville, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Valley View Nursing Center. She was widowed by her first husband of 51 years, Albert E. Harris, in 1975. She was widowed by her second husband, Charles A. Starr, in 1995. She was employed by the former Warsaw Silk Mill, she was a counter salesperson for Hurr’s Ice Cream Store, and a baker and sales clerk for Rosencran’s Bakery in Montoursville. In the 1940s she operated a produce stand in the Williamsport’s growers market. She was a member and organist of the Fairfield United Methodist Church. Born Nov. 13, 1906, in Fairfield Township, she was a daughter of Jacob and Sarah Lockard Fry. Surviving are three sons, A. Dale Harris, Carl L. and Gary T., all of Montoursville; two daughters, Janice E. Myers and Ellen M. Wein, Montoursville; three step-children, C. Al Starr Jr. and Max Starr, Montoursville; Vivin McMullen, Coatesville; a brother, Clarence Fry, Montoursville; 13 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters and a grandson. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with her pastor, the Rev. Donald E. Esther B. Bartges
Esther B. Bartges, 92, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at Roseview Manor, where she had been a resident for five years. She was formally of State College, and Dunnstown. Her husband, Ira J. Bartges, died in 1983. She had been employed at Piper Aircraft, retiring after 30 years as a welder, and in her early years, she worked at the former Lock Haven Silk Mill. She was a member of the Covenant United Methodist Church in Lock Haven. Born Dec. 20, 1907, she was a daughter of Hugh and Anna Ergott Myers. Surviving are a daughter, Betty Weiler of Jersey Shore; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, George Myers; Ralph Myers; and Charles L. Poust. A private graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Dunnstable Township, Clinton County, with the Rev. James VanZandt, her pastor, officiating. There will be no visitation. Yost-Gedon’s, 121 West Main St., Lock Haven, is handling the arrangements.
Jack Borick
Jack Borick, 40, of Lopez and Cherry Hill, N.J., died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at the Cooper Medical Center, Camden, N.J., as a result of an accident while at work. He was an electrician for DEC Electric Co. of Berlin, N.J. He was a member of St. Vladmir’s Orthodox Church in Lopez. In addition, he was a member of IBEW Local Union 351 and the Harley Davidson Motor Cycles Group (H.O.G.) He served in the Navy. Born July 18, 1960, in Pennsauken, N.J., he was a son of John S. and Gertrude B. Hunter Borick. He was a graduate of Pennsauken High School. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Borick and his father, also of Pennsauken, as well as an aunt, Mary Dempsey of Dushore. A burial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church with Hieromonk Michael Thier, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the church Cemetery.Friends may call from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Homer’s, 206 Water St., Dushore. There will be a Parastas service at 7:30. Andrew J. Deivert
NORTHUMBERLAND - Andrew Jackson “Jack” Deivert, 74, of Northumberland RR 1 and formerly of Watsontown, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at his home following an extended illness. He was a supervisor at the former Glen Gery Brick Co. in Watsontown from 1958 until 1991. He was a 1943 graduate of Sunbury High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater. Deivert was a member of the National Rife Association. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Point Township, and had served on the church council. An avid reader and outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and archery, winning a number of trophies. He also enjoyed hiking, woodworking and photography. He and his wife, the former Betty J. Kemberling, recently observed their 51st wedding anniversary. Born Dec. 22, 1925, in Sunbury, he was a son of Charles M. and Helen Smith Deivert. Surviving, besides his wife, are two daughters, Carolyn Overdorf of Jersey Shore and Cindy Krum Jr. of Bloomsburg; two sons, Jim of Northumberland and David of Lawrenceville, Ga.; a brother, Gary N. of State College, nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Epler’s, Second and King streets, with the Rev. Elinor Allison officiating. AVIS - Joseph E. Graff, 60, of East Summit Street, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He and his wife, the former Sue Watkins, would have observed their 36th wedding anniversary in October. Graff was an inspector/repairman at Champion Parts, North East Division for 23 years. He was a member of the IBEW Local 1592. He enjoyed football, camping and NASCAR. He served in the Marines. Graff attended the former St. Mary High School in Williamsport. Born March 7, 1940, he was a son of Harry M. and Margaret E. Engel Graff. Surviving, besides his wife, are three sons, Michael J. of Coal Township, Timothy S. of Clymer and Garret L. of Jersey Shore; a daughter, Tina L. Bremigen of Avis; two sisters, Sandra Harris of Loyalsock and Peggy Ramin of Williamsport; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kitty Erb and a granddaughter, Emily E. Graff. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rearick-Carpenter’s, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with Pastor Drew Wilkerson officiating. MIFFLINBURG - Edgar William Knouse, 86, of Penns Creek Road, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at home. He was married in Middleburg on June 14, 1947, to the former Evelyn Louise Kratzer, who died on Sept. 18, 1998. He lived in Limestone Township since 1955, and previously lived in Middleburg. He attended the Middleburg school system, and was a carpenter for various contractors from 1946 to 1954. He retired in 1978 after 24 years as a millwright in the Philadelphia area. He served in the Army, was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Campaign Ribbon, the Victory Medal, and the Asiatic Theatre Campaign Medal. He was a charter member of the Millwrights and Machinery Erectors Union Local 1906, Philadelphia; the Union County Sportsmen’s Club, Weikert; The Union County West End Fire Company, Glen Iron; the American Association of Retired Persons; and American Legion Post 44, Northumberland. Born Feb. 8, 1914, in Northumberland, he was a son of John William and Jennie Cornelia Reigel Knouse. Surviving are three sons, Gregory D. of Lewistown, and Gale P. and Robert A. Knouse, both of Mifflinburg; a stepsister, Arlene Byler of Mechanicsburg; two stepbrothers, Ralph L. Bordner of Sunbury, and H. Irvin Bordner of Mechanicsburg; two grandchildren, James L. and Shelby L. Knouse, both of Lewistown; and a great-grandson, Kaden C. Knouse, Lewistown. His stepmother, Erna Mae Spicher Knouse, died May 27, 1980. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Mohler; and two brothers, Clarence and Irvin. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Schwartz’s, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, with the Rev. James Horace Gold, retired pastor of the United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in New Berlin Cemetery, with full military rites being accorded by Legion Post 44, Northumberland.
