Cleo W. Confair
Cleo W. Confair, 80, of Confair Parkway, Montoursville, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at home. Her first husband, George O. Wagner, died in 1961. Her second husband, Sen. Zehnder H. Confair, died in January 1981. She was a hostess at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, and a director at Danville Area School District. She served as a civilian in the Panama Canal war zone during World War II. She was on the boards of Williamsport Home, Lycoming County SPCA, the Woman’s Club and the YWCA and was a member of the Williamsport-Lycoming Arts Council, Montoursville Garden Club and University of Georgia Alumni Association. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. Born Sept. 23, 1920, in Pine View, Ga., she was a daughter of Grover C. and Emma Jean Williams McLeod. Surviving are five sons, George O. IV, John M., Stephen P., G. Scott and Andrew P. Wagner; a sister, Sue Stone of Pine View; a brother, John McLeod of Dallas, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the church, 700 Fairview Drive, Montoursville, with the Rev. Paul C. Murphy officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville. Friends may call at Crouse’s, 133 E. Third St., from 7 to 9 tonight.

Mary Aderhold Wagner
Mary Aderhold Wagner, 91, formerly of Canton, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, in Caledonia Manor Nursing Home, Fayetteville. Her first husband, Oliver Goodwin, died in World War II. Her second husband, Adam Wagner, died in 1959. She had worked at the Swayze Folding Box Co., Canton. She was a member of the former Canton Presbyterian Church. Born Feb. 22, 1909, in Balls Mills, she was a daughter of John P. and Grace V. Sallada Aderhold. Surviving are two brothers, James and John Aderhold, both of Silver Springs, Md.; five nieces, and eight nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Joseph, and five sisters, Ruth, Caroline, Martha, Helen and Betty. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Morse and Kleese’s, 40 N. Center St., Canton, with the Rev. William A. Patterson, First Presbyterian Church, Troy, officiating. Burial will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luther Mills. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday.

Dorothy Stockett Harmon
Dorothy Stockett Harmon, 83, formerly of Montoursville, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at Mallard Landing Assisted Living Community, Salisbury, Md. Her husband, Wainwright H. Harmon, died in 1981. She had been a travel agent with Dill Travel Agency, Reading. She was a member of Eugene Grafius Post 104 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary She was a member of Church of Our Savior, Montoursville. Born in Shenandoah, she was a daughter of Beech Helm and Margaret Worthington Stockett. Surviving are a son, W. Stockett of Berlin, Md.; a daughter, Judith Litvin of Pewaukee, Wis.; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, B. Helm Stockett Jr. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church, with the Rev. H. Jerome Grafius officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Charles Baber Cemetery, Pottsville. Arrangements are being handled by Burbage’s, Berlin.

William S. Rogers Jr.
William S. Rogers Jr., 48, of 136 Rawle St., Montoursville, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at home. A daughter, Kimberly Marie, died in the TWA Flight 800 disaster July 17, 1996. He and his wife, the former Kathy R. Grego, would have observed their 26th wedding anniversary Dec. 24. He was a member of the Bald Eagle Art Club and Eugene Grafius Post 104 American Legion, Montoursville. He was an avid supporter for change in the Death on the High Seas Act. He was a 1970 graduate of Wellsboro High School. Born Sept. 29, 1952, he was a son of William S. and Mary Jane Van Horn Rogers Sr. Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Kelsey Kathleen Marie, at home. The funeral will be at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. David K. Shultz officiating. Friends may call at Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The family will provide the flowers.

Thelma Mae Philippi
Thelma Mae Philippi, 88, of Wilmot Township, Bradford County, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, in the Towanda Memorial Hospital skilled nursing unit. Her husband, Carl Philippi, died Dec. 27, 1983. She retired from Endicott Johnson Shoe Factory, Mildred, after many years and operated the family farm in Wilmot. She was a member of Moxie Community Church. Born April 6, 1912, in Ricketts, she was a daughter of Horace and Jenny Ignita Carpenter. Surviving are four daughters, Hazel Strope of Towanda, Joan Heath of Mildred, Sally Matlack of Sarasota, Fla., and Patricia Byers of Southampton; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Earl Carpenter, and two sisters, Helen Knowles and Frances Philippi. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 28, at Wilmot Grange Hall, with the Rev. Howard D. Carr, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Terrytown Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Homer’s, 206 Water St., Dushore.

Leah Wilson Brooks
WELLSBORO - Leah Wilson Brooks, 81, of Wellsboro died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, in Broad Acres Nursing Home. She was the widow of Joseph T. Brooks. She had worked for the former Corning Glass Works, Wellsboro Division. She was a member of the Moose and the National Audubon Society. She was a member of Coolidge Hollow United Methodist Church. Born Nov. 22, 1918, in Delmar Township, she was a daughter of Roger and Irene Catlin Wilson. Surviving are three sons, Donald A. of Keeneyville, Barry L. and David L., both of Wellsboro; three daughters, Glenda B. Hammond of Wellsboro, Teresa West of Loganville, Ga. and Cinda Niles of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two brothers, Charles Wilson of Wellsboro and Howard Wilson of Tioga; four sisters, Gertrude Thompson in Texas, Doris Torpy in Florida, Naomi Day of Wellsboro and Rena Brooks of Gang Mills, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph T., and a grandson. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Carleton’s, Route 6 East, with the Rev. Eugene A. Charsky and Glenda Brooks Hammond officiating. Burial will be in Catlin Hollow Cemetery, Tioga County.

Jessie M. Hall
Jessie M. “Dot” Hall, 77, formerly of this city, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in Philipsburg Presbyterian Home, Philipsburg. Her husband, James E. Hall, died Oct. 10, 1957. She retired as a dietitian at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Palm Bay, Fla. She was a former member of Palm Bay Methodist Church. Born July 8, 1923, in Mahaffey, she was a daughter of Jesse and Erma McCracken. Surviving are a son, Ronald J. of Palm Bay; a twin brother, Jesse McCracken of Palm Bay; two sisters, Mary Lou Campbell of Grampian and Rudy McCracken of State College; two grandsons; and a great-grandson. Services were Saturday at Deeley’s, Punxsutawney. Burial was in Mahaffey Cemetery.

Sharon L. Brady
Sharon L. Brady, 53, of 301 Bowen Drive died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at home following an extended illness. She and her husband, Clarence E. Brady, observed their 33rd wedding anniversary July 1. She had been employed by the former GTE Sylvania, Montoursville, and Wundies. Born Aug. 14, 1947, she was a daughter of Jack and Dora Mae Hinds. Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons, Scott E. Brady of Mifflintown and Mark E. of Linden; four brothers, John Ryder of Linden, Edward Ryder in North Carolina, Frank and Jack Hinds Jr., both of this city; and a sister, Diane Yaw of Cogan Station. A memorial service will be at 7 tonight in First Church of Christ, 1250 Almond St., with the Rev. R. Kenneth Weiss officiating. Friends may call at the church from 6 to 7 tonight. Arrangements are being handled by Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.

Delphine L. Kuhn
Delphine L. Kuhn, 83, formerly of 2400 block of Linn Street, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at ManorCare Health Services North. Her husband, James S. Kuhn, died in 1975. She retired from the former Hill’s, South Williamsport, and she and her husband managed the motel section of Kings Motel, South Williamsport. She was a United Methodist. Born Jan 30 1917, in Bellefonte, she was a daughter of Harry and Eva Lillian Greenawalt Strayer. Surviving are a brother, Donald A. Yost of this city and 14 nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at the convenience of the family in Wildwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The family will provide the flowers. Arrangements are being handled by Sanders’, 821 Diamond St.

Edward R. Moore
WELLSBORO - Edward R. Moore, 73, of Welsh Settlement died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, in Broad Acres Health and Rehabilitation Center. His wife, the former Norine Wolfe, died Dec. 21, 1974. He was a light bulb production worker for the former Corning Glass Works, Wellsboro Division, retiring in 1973. He enjoyed traveling and repairing and restoring old automobiles. Born Feb. 25, 1927, in Eldred, he was a son of William P. and Grace Loupe Moore. Surviving are five sons, Butch of Mansfield, Joseph and Roger, both of Sparta, Wis., James of Wellsboro and Ray in Ohio; four daughters, Robin Flynn and Barb Wattles, both of Little Marsh, Tina Kubota of Battle Creek, Mich. and Joyce Smith of Hornell, N.Y.; four brothers, Charles in California, Ben and Clair, both of Wellsboro and John in North Carolina; three sisters, Harriet in Florida, Grace Baker and Jean Goodwin, both of Wellsboro; and 21 grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Tussey-Mosher’s, 139 Main St., with the Rev. Eugene Charsky officiating. Burial will be in Welsh Settlement Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m.

Julia M. Allegrucci
Julia M. Allegrucci, 68, of 2412 Newberry St. died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, in Williamsport Hospital. She and her husband, Michael J. Allegrucci Jr., observed their 45th wedding anniversary Aug. 6. A member of Church of the Ascension, she was a volunteer for many church activities. She enjoyed bingo. Born Oct. 14, 1932, in this city, she was a daughter of Luigi and Ida Salvatori Abate. Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons, Michael J. III of Hughesville and Jeffrey L. of Muncy; two sisters, Louise Patterson of this city and Dora Caradonna of Camp Springs, Md.; two grandchildren, Adam J. and Erika L. She was preceded in death by a brother, Victor D. Abate. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the church, 2101 Linn St., with her pastor the Rev. Charles J. Cummings, officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call at Sanders’, 821 Diamond St., from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with a vigil service at 8:30.

Anna Faye Knauff
A memorial service will be Friday for Anna Faye Knauff, who died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000. The service will be at 4 p.m. in New Covenant United Church of Christ, 202 E. Third St., with the Rev. Bruce R. Druckenmiller officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Maneval’s, 500 W. Fourth St.

Elizabeth O. T. Cummings
TIOGA - Elizabeth O. Tongue Cummings, 83, of Tioga died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, in the Green Home, Wellsboro. She was the widow of Zenith C. Cummings. She was a cook at Mansfield University for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Nifty-Fifties Club, Lawrenceville. She enjoyed crocheting and camping. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Born Sept. 10, 1917, in Tioga, she was a daughter of Frank and Lucie Croufott Tongue. Surviving are two sons, Gary W. of Middlebury Center and Thomas L. of Sharon; a daughter, Pamela B. Hartman of Tioga; a sister, Marcia Rarick of Roseville; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday at Scureman’s, 130 S. Main St., Mansfield, with her pastor, the Rev. Steven P. Neff., officiating. Burial will be Evergreen Cemetery, Tioga, at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Anna G. S. DeLaney
Anna G. Scudder DeLaney, 90, of Oakland, N.J., former area resident, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000. She was the widow of Sidney DeLaney. She was a homemaker. She attended Rutherford Congregational Church and was a member of the Women’s Fellowship. Surviving are two sons, James R. of Hawthorne, N.J., and Richard S. of Springfield; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Scudder. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday at Collins-Calhoun’s, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Catherine E. Hill
Catherine E. Hill, 80, formerly of Louisa St., died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at the home of a granddaughter, 115 Chiswik Road. Her husband, Charles E. Hill Sr., died in 1977. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking. Born Feb. 16, 1920, in Bellefonte, she was a daughter of Vince and Bertha Altieri. Surviving are five sons, Charles E. Jr. of Jersey Shore, Larry E. of Cogan Station, John F., Grant L. and Gary L., all of this city; two daughters, Betty L. Andrus of this city and Bonnie J. of Cogan Station; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, James L., and two brothers. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Yost-Gedon’s, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven, with the Rev. H. Frank Showers of Lutheran Church of the Savior officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Lock Haven. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight.

Frank Himmelreich
Frank Himmelreich, 75, formerly of 2102 Hillside Ave., Sherman, Texas, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, on his ranch in Oklahoma. His wife, the former Beverly J. Cramer, died Jan 3, 1996. He and his wife owned an operated the former Dushore House Restaurant in the late 1960s through the mid 1970s. A cattle rancher, he retired from Williamsport Hospital. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served on the U.S.S. Maurice Manuel in the European, African and Middle Eastern theaters and Asiatic Pacific Philippine liberation. He was a Mifflinburg High School graduate and attended Lycoming College. He was a member of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association. He was an avid fisherman. Born Dec. 8, 1924, in Limestone Township, Lycoming County, he was a son of Frank and Lulu Bradly Himmelreich. Surviving are two sons, Frank W. of Pittsburgh and David W. of this city; a daughter, Leabett J. Mekhil, with whom he lived in Texas; three brothers, L. Roy of Selinsgrove, L. Ray of New Port and Dale of Garland, Texas; a step sister, Roxanna M. Reed of this city; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, John, and a stepsister, Reba M. Phillips. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., with the Rev. Robert L. Driesen of Messiah Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
